My Husband's Secret is another great read from L.G. Davis. Avery thought she had the perfect life until her husband's accident. As he slips into a coma he utters the words I took a life. From that moment on everything Avery thought she knew begins to unravel as she discovers her husband isn't the only person in her family keeping a dark secret. This story blew me away with all its twists and turns. I was gripped from the beginning and I just could not put it down. I highly recommend My Husband's Secret.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

I've read several of @lgdavisauthor
books recently and she is definitely an author to recommend.

Fast paced, gripping and kept me wanting more, I needed to know what secrets Keith was harbouring, and who is 'The Watcher?'.

Told from multiple POV, with twists and turns aplenty, throw a dysfunctional family into the mix and enjoy!

My Husband's Secret is a suspense filled, tension fuelled thriller and I couldn't put it down.

Many thanks to Bookouture for my tour spot.

I just finished My husband’s secret by L.G Davis and here is my review
Avery has the kind of life everyone dreams of. An amazing husband, a beautiful little girl and a booming business. Life is great, until one day, her husband Keith is run over on his way to pick up their daughter from school. He ends up in a coma and the doctors aren’t sure he will ever wake up. What he said to her before he slips into the coma haunts Avery…. I took a life…
Spiraling into despair, Avery and Mia move into her childhood home. Spending her time by Keith’s bedside, she can’t help but ruminate on what he told her. Feeling the need to snoop, she finds things that indicate that she doesn’t know her husband like she thought she did.
After finding a note at her parents home, she realizes that her husband isn’t the only one with a dark secret and now all things she thought she knew gets called into question and how much of what happened to Keith was an accident….
When Mia goes missing, Avery’s world crumbles to an even darker place.
This book had me on the hook so hard I am still not free!! I felt wrong footed the whole time with this book and I gotta tell you…. I loved every single moment of that! I didn’t know which was up until the twists stopped coming! Expertly written and now I am a die hard fan of this author.
Really enjoyed the plot. It was really well planned out. Loved the change in locations, it played in really well with the whole theme of the book. I loved Avery, I felt she had some epic flaws but when you get to the end, you can see why she is the way she is. I was on the edge of my seat!!
Did not see the end coming so if you love books that keep you guessing with that psychological heart thrill ride feel to it…. This is the book for you!! 5 stars!!!
Thank you #netgalley and @bookouture for my arc copy! @lgdavisauthor you just made a super fan out of me!

Wow. My first L.G. Davis book and I am in awe.
I have seen this author highly recommended on social media, but now you can add me to her fan list!
I was immediately hooked from the first chapter, and would have easily read it in one sitting had life not got in the way!
The plot was so suspenseful- gripping but so easy to read, with characters you are drawn to. It's a short read, I think around 5 hours on my kindle, but I prefer thrillers like that- no messing around, or waffle to pad it out!
The ending was so intense too, my eyes popped out!
Loved it, and now I'm off to read her other books!

A fast paced book full of twists and turns. The story uncovers many family secrets and nobody is quite who they seem. I initially struggled with the writing style and found it too simplistic but about a third in thus seemed to become more sophisticated. A good read.

I have only recently discovered L.G. Davis in just the past couple of months, having devoured two of her previous thrillers "Liar Liar" and "Perfect Parents" (previously titled "The Surrogate's Gift"). Both were intricately twisted, a little out there with a propensity to suspend belief...but were also equally addictive, compelling and totally unputdownable. I don't care if they are a little far fetched, as long as the story is engaging and keeps me turning the pages. And that goes for MY HUSBAND'S SECRET as well. After reading and loving all three of these domestic thrillers, I have to wonder where L.G. Davis has been hiding. She is a new-to-me author only a couple of months ago but she is one that I quickly go to and know I am going to be thoroughly entertained from start to finish as I try to guess the identity of her villain.

We meet Avery Watkins within the first pages as she runs a massage parlour with her best friend Celeste in the comfortable Willow Gate. Their business has been open a year and they are about to hire more masseuses to keep up with the thriving business and their newly acquired receptionist (former client) is a God-send.

And then Avery gets a call from the school at which her 7 year old daughter Mia attends to say that she has not been picked up. Avery is confused as her husband Keith was supposed to collect Mia some time ago but calls to his mobile go unanswered by both the school and Avery. Upon arriving home with Mia, Avery is then confronted with the sight of a waiting police care. This could not be good. Keith had been involved in an accident having been knocked off his bike with the driver then fleeing the scene. Avery is beside herself. After leaving Mia with Celeste, she rushes to the hospital to find her husband in a critical condition having undergone hours of surgery. She remains by his bedside and when he finally awakes, he struggles to speak managing only to whisper the words "I took a life" before slipping into a coma.

Avery is shocked. This cannot be true. Her husband is the kindest, gentlest and most honest person she knows. He is her best friend. She would know if he was hiding something like this...wouldn't she?

Calling on the support of her family, Avery moves back into her childhood home with Mia while she makes the daily journey to the hospital some forty minutes away. But she has never had a good relationship with either of her parents - her mother suffering bad bouts of anxiety and depression and her father is an alcoholic. Neither of them particularly present during her childhood. Their neighbour, Ruth, was Avery's only shining light. She was more of a mother to Avery than her own parents had been and is also Mia's godmother.

Avery juggles her time between ferrying Mia to school and at the hospital, leaving the business in Celeste's capable hands. But with each visit she sees no change in her husband and begins to wonder if he will ever wake up and explain the meaning of his last words. But the doctors assure her is coma gives him the best possible chance as he had sustained a serious head injury. So all she can do is hope.

In the meantime, she begins to do a little snooping to try and make sense of those words. Both she an Keith have kept a journal as a way of making sense of their thoughts and emotions but when she goes back to their empty house to search for it, it's gone. And Avery knows it was there when she packed some items for Keith for the hospital. So where is it? And then there is the added mood back with her parents. Something is amiss and it soon becomes very clear that they are keeping something from her. But what, she doesn't know.

The one shining light, aside from Ruth's unwavering support, is Mia's new teaching assistant at her school, Miss Campbell. Mia adores her and her presence has had a calming effect on her otherwise confused and emotional daughter. At the end of each day, Mia is full of excitement at the things Miss Campbell got her to do and the special projects she has assigned her. Avery is grateful that Mia can at least find solace there in an otherwise uncertain situation in which Avery finds herself now.

What is the secret her husband has been keeping? And what happened to the money that has miraculously disappeared from their joint bank account? Who would hate her husband enough to run him down so callously and then flee the scene without calling for help? And what secrets are her parents keeping from her?

Amidst the tense narrative told predominantly from Avery's perspective, we also have an anonymous one in the form of "The Watcher" who keeping tabs and watching Avery's every move and with particular interest in Mia, believing Avery to be self-absorbed and neglectful of her little girl. Trying to guess the identity of The Watcher is fraught with possibilities, red herrings and plenty of tension. I had a couple of suspects throughout narrowing it down to one by the end thanks to the little clues the author drip-fed us.

MY HUSBAND'S SECRET is an edge-of-your-seat read that keeps you engaged and entertained the entire way through. It doesn't matter how believeable or probable the story is...it's the ride and entertainment factor I enjoy. Some of it may be far fetched but that is one thing I have come to expect from L.G. Davis and it matters little to me because of the compelling nature of of her tales that are fraught with so much tension I simply don't want to put them down. And even though I was in something of a reading slump (due to some devastating personal news), I still managed to read this book in one day.

A totally twisted read is nothing if not exactly what I expect from this author who delivers such tense and addictive domestic thrillers with something of a sting in the tail at the end of each one. Every ending is climatic and every final word a cliffhanger. Each one of her thrillers I have read to date have left readers with something of an open ending. Something I don't usually like, but L.G. Davis delivers it perfectly and satisfactorily. She is one of my new go-to authors as I know I will never be disappointed with whatever twisted tale she has to offer...I just know I will enjoy it anyway.

I hate giving bad reviews of books. I truly feel like each book is a work of art by an Author and even though a particular book may not be for me, it doesn’t make it any less of an accomplishment. I really wanted to love My Husband’s Secret. I made it about 35% of the way through and just couldn’t read any more. Sadly, it reminds me of a bad lifetime movie (and I do love some Lifetime thrillers), but it’s just kind of mediocre and slow. I found myself not caring about Keith’s big secret and already had an idea where the plot was going. Maybe I’m jumping the gun, I guess I’ll never know, but this was a “did not finish” for me.

Thank you to the publisher & NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. I’m sorry this just wasn’t the book for me!

I struggled with this book to be honest. Storyline was weak and the characters were very odd. I really enjoyed other books by this author so hoping for more

I already liked the first L.G. Davis book I read, but this one was even twistier than that!

Avery has a loving husband, Keith, and daughter, Mia, but she one day gets a call that her husband has been hit by a car. Avery rushes to see Keith but moments before he fell into a coma, Keith mentions four words that would drag Avery into a pool of uncertainty and confusion - “I took a life”. As Avery grapples with this discovery, she moves back in with her family, as she and Mia need all the support that they can get. After a few eye-opening discoveries, she begins to understand what her husband actually meant, but is it too late?

Keith’s confession was so intriguing, I didn’t know how Avery would even start making sense of it! There’s a chance of it being true but given Keith’s traumatic injury, there’s also a possibility that he may have just been confused. Turns out that Keith’s four words were just the tip of the iceberg; there were more secrets to unpack! I found this domestic thriller deeply satisfying, so I am giving this 5 stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Avery and Celeste own a successful massage parlor in Willow Gate, Minnesota. They are ready to hire more massage therapists and have just hired a receptionist.

Avery gets a call saying her 7-year-old daughter, Mia, was not picked up from school by her husband, Keith. Confused, Avery rushes to get Mia and as she returns home, she is met by the police telling her that Keith was riding his bicycle and run over by a hit and run driver. Rushing to the hospital, Avery finds Keith is in critical condition, having undergone hours of surgery. Seeing him and just before he slips into unconsciousness, he tells her that he took a life. Shocked, Avery cannot believe that this could be true, because her husband is a wonderful man. The doctors tell her that Keith is now in a coma and they don’t know when or if he will come out of it.

Avery tries to spend as much time at Keith’s bedside as she can. Although both of her parents have their problems, she agrees to take Mia and stay with them for a time. The real reason for staying with them is that their neighbor, Ruth, her godmother, is close by and a woman Avery has always depended upon.

Oh, dear. I’m on the fence with this book. While the idea of the plot is good, playing it out just isn’t. There would have been too many questions by too many people if this story was probable. Avery, while under a lot of stress, came across as a bit of a wimp. Sorry. OK book, but not the best.

I took a life While Keith is lying in a coma due to a hit-and-run accident, those are the four words he uttered to Avery as he was drifting away. Day after day Avery visits Keith in the hospital, hoping against hope that he will awaken and for him to reassure her that he is not a murderer. Unable to let matters wait, Avery starts looking for answers, and this includes digging deeply when it comes to matters concerning Keith. She might not like what she finds, but she is not going to give up until she finds out the meaning of those terrible four words.

Concern for their young daughter Mia, with as much time as Avery is spending at the hospital, she decides to temporarily move back in with her parents. This is no easy task, as her relationship with them is rather strained. Furthermore, Avery wonders if any interactions that Keith had with her parents could shed any light on his declaration. One day as Avery starts looking through a storage room in her parent's basement, she goes through box after box looking for anything that they might have been hiding from her. She eventually lands upon a note that presents a strong clue. A clue that shakes her up even more.

While Avery's character is written in first-person in this engaging novel, there are some alternating perspectives from the past. Then there is "The Watcher", with that unnamed character's point of view. These multiple roles in this book work flawlessly to create incredible pacing, a riveting story and shocking twists and turns. This all culminates in a jaw-dropping conclusion.

L. G. Davis has written a thrilling book that any lover of domestic suspense would thoroughly enjoy. While only my second read by Ms. Davis, I can say that I will not only look forward to whatever she has coming up next, but that I want to exhaust her backlist.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Engaging plot with so-so characters.

The plot was engaging with several bumps in the road that had the author veering off into another direction. I liked how the author inserted a “stalker” view into the plot which kept the reader on their toes as they tried to figure out who the stalker could be. The ending leads you to believe that there could possibly be a sequel to this story, though the author didn’t leave you hanging as she connected all the dots to resolve the plot.

I had a hard time with the lead character, Avery. She got on my nerves with all her suspicions and woe is me moments. I had to put the book down to take a break as I couldn’t take her anymore. I did like Avery’s best friend/business partner, Celeste, but the rest of the characters were so-so.

The author’s writing was ok. I felt like it dragged in spots, but then it would pick up. It was like the author added extra words in to meet a word requirement. My biggest complaint about this book is the title. It doesn’t work for me based on the book I was reading. I’m sure they could have come up with a better option for a title that encompassed the book better.

Having said all of the above, I would probably give this author another chance with another of her books. My Husband’s Secret had enough suspense and mystery in it to make me curious about her other works.

My review is voluntary and all comments and opinions expressed are
my own.

This book started out with an interesting story line, but I struggled to get into this book after a lack of suspense and thrill until the very end. I found the twists to be good but predictable. I love this author, but this one fell flat for me.

My Husbands Secret had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. So many curve balls, just when you think you have it figured out it takes a turn!

I stayed up way too late to finish this book but it was so good I couldn’t stop reading. I had to know what was going on and if Avery would solve everything.

L. G. Davis had me hooked from the first chapter. I also loved her book Perfect Parents! Can’t wait to read Liar Liar.

First, I want to thank L.G. Davis, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

O.M.G.!! WOW!! WOW!! WOW!! Bookouture where have you been hiding L.G. Davis and her books?! Thank you for introducing me to my new favorite author! She is just a brilliant storyteller that had my emotions running wild in this book! One minute I am reaching for the tissues in tears and the next minute I’m avidly yelling at my kindle!!! This is one of those books you wish that they would do a series on Netflix. You know the ones you start at 8pm and can't look away until the series is over. Yeah this book is that good!! What are you waiting for?! Go order it and put it on the top of your TBR pile! You will thank me later! Trust me!

Now let's talk about this beautiful cover the goddesses at Bookouture designed for My Husband’s Secret! It is simple but oh so beautiful, powerful and colorful. It fits the book to the t! It caught my attention straight away!

L.G. Wants to dedicate this book to Rihanna who her heart tells her this book is for her. She won’t disagree with that!

My Husband’s Secret sure did take me on a very emotional rollercoaster with some very wicked curves along the way that I didn’t see coming! Let me tell you some of those curves shocked the heck out of me when I was yelling at my book!! Many times I was thinking where in the world did L.G. Think of this storyline, it is amazing!!

L.G.’s storyline was incredibly addictive, fast paced, suspenseful, twisted beyond belief, intense, heartbreaking, gripping. I was literally on the edge of my seat for the second half of the book.

Even though I understood the reasoning behind it I thought there was way too much focus on abusing alcohol to numb the pain of the situation. So much so it started to turn me off. However, I knew it was an important part of the story.

OMG! L.G. Climatic ending went off like a bombshell with all the earth shattering sad revelations that nobody could ever see coming! She left me totally and utterly speechless!!

If L.G’s other books are as good as these please sign me up for more! I loved this book!! One of the best psychological thrillers of 2022!!
