I’ve just finished reading this book, I couldn’t put it down!! The storyline was so good with plenty of twists and turns. But I felt it could’ve done with one extra chapter as I felt the ending was a bit sudden and I would’ve preferred it if the ending had been a bit tidier. However I would highly recommend it but set aside a day to read it with no other distractions!! Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced read x

My Husband’s Secret by L.G. Davis
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was soooo good! I could not put it down! Avery has a loving husband, her own business and a daughter she adores, Mia. When Avery’s husband is hit by a car and falls into a coma, she begins to find out that he was hiding something. What is his secret?
This book kept me guessing all the way to the final pages! There were a lot of times I kept thinking I figured parts out from clues but it ended up I was very wrong! This is not your usual “husband’s secret” book! I love a good domestic suspense with family lies and this was insane! I can’t say much else without spoiling it, so go read it! Thank you so much to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc ebook.
A tale with many twists and turns that keep you guessing, overall it has a good pace, I just felt the ending was a little rushed and so left me feeling like there were a few loose ends. But overall an enjoyable read.

What if you found out that your life was all built on a lie? This thriller will take your breath away! I loved the twists, and it really kept me guessing!

The first book I've read by L. H. Davis and it's a great thriller! I received it from Bookouture via Netgalley and it will be published on 16 September.

We follow Avery who, after her husband Keith is hit by a car and ends up in a coma, has to take care of their daughter Mia. Just before Keith slips into a coma he says four words and these four words change everything. Gradually she finds out secrets that people around her have kept for so many years. Who can she really trust?

This was a very good domestic suspense thriller which you really want to read in one go. The main characters are well-worked out and you get to know them enough to understand their reasonings. The story itself was quite good as well. Some events only came to light at the end of the novel and that's something I really like - the story being unpredictable. The title I understand, but the other sentences on the cover are a bit misleading, in my opinion.

Nevertheless, it is definitely a book I'd recommend!

I read this book in one sitting it was absolutely gripping right from the start. Twisty and unpredictably that left me on the edge of my seat and constantly guessing and failing to see what was coming

Avery loves her family. Her loving husband, Keith and her cute daughter, Mia, are her world. But her perfect world is shattered by a hit-and-run which puts Keith into a hospital with serious injuries. Before slipping into coma Keith says to Avery, "I took a life." Avery can't believe how it is possible. Her husband is a gentle soul. Not sure how to manage with her new business, Mia's school and visiting Keith in the hospital, she moves in with her parents. Slowly she comes to know many secrets that are connected to Keith's accident. But just as she is about to know more, Mia goes missing. Will Avery be able to solve the mystery before it's too late for her daughter?

In my opinion, the name of the book is not apt for the plot. After reading the book, I even didn't find the cover appropriate. Coming to the plot, the first half of the book was a little slow, but as soon as the pace started to build in the second half, it became really interesting. I could guess the culprit half way through, but still the plot twists kept me reading. In between I got confused with different POVs, but the author's writing style compensated for the confusion. Overall not bad!!!

I thank NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the ARC copy for my honest review

Really enjoyed this one - some lulls, but mostly kept me gripped and reading. A great story with lots of elements but nothing too complex or crazy. I love a book with lots going on but sometimes, the brain has to work too hard to keep up! This book was the perfect balance.

There was one character I really disliked from the beginning. Super judgey. I felt like this character got away with being a bit of a knob with no recompense. The other characters were all just as they should be and made perfect sense. Loved the reveal. Not everything is as it seems!

The only weird thing with this is that I feel I have read a really similar story before. The bit with the husband was new but there were so many really specific elements of it that I knew were coming. Can’t find anything to indicate the author wrote it as a short story first, but perhaps thats why?! Either that or some sort of sixth sense! It was enough that I stopped reading to google the story a few times!

I flew through this in an afternoon! It was such an easy book to read and really captivates you from the start. I loved the premise and the plot was certainly filled with random twists and turns. It was a bit obvious who was behind everything but I don't think that took any of the pleasure out of finding out I was right lol. The characters are all a bit unlikeable and make some very odd choices but i loved the writing style and enjoyed the book. My only down side was the part where the author obviously decided it was time for the big reveal and after all this build up, all of a sudden everything is just a but rushed to explain the motives and culprits. It's just a bit abrupt and like the author just gave up and wanted the book finished so just went "actually....bleugh......all done" lol. Until then, it had bn a really good wee book though.

My Husband’s Secret is a fast paced, page turner that will have you stumped. He’s not the only one with a secret. The title might lead you to believe it’s a typical cheating spouse story. Nope! You’ll never guess what the husband’s secret is until all the information is out. You won’t put this one down. This is a must read!
Thank You to Bookouture, NetGalley and L.G. Davis for the opportunity to enjoy this ARC.

A TENSE READ. 5 🌟
I don't know from where should I start my review of this book. I want to say so many things but at the same time I don't want to give you anything in advance. I just want you to feel the story's magic yourself like I did. Wow, it was a tense and different read.
Avery and Keith are married and have a daughter together called Mia. Keith should have been on his way to pick up Mia but he never arrived, sparking a phone call from the school to Avery. Not long after, we find out that Keith has been involved in a hit and run. Just before he goes into a coma, he says the words "I took a life". Avery, in desperate need for support, moves into her parents' house where she finds out that her husband isn't the only one that has been keeping secrets from her...
Starting was a bit slow but I understand it was to build up the characters but the middle and ending were superb like they were in LIAR LIAR. I enjoyed it thoroughly and then re-read it again. Believe me I wasn't able to guess her husband's secret. Give it a go. It's a phenomenal read.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.

Honestly I do not know where to begin with this book - this is the first book that I have read from L. G. Davis and this book has inspired me to go and check out their other books as I fell in love with the way that My Husband's Secret was written. It was written in a way that is fast paced, but keeps you captivated. Whilst it does cover quite heavy topics like the ones mentioned in the content warning, it does it in a fantastic way that reflects on the author's research that went into this book. This book really does not mind getting its pages dirty by exploring these topics, some in more detail than others. Despite guessing one of the main aspects of the plot, I still found myself shocked at every twist and turn this book took. This book was a never ending rollercoaster ride that I just did not want to get off of. Although I am not the biggest fan of multiple POVs, I really enjoyed the way that they were covered in this book as it really helped to drive the story forward.

The only thing that I did not like was in Chapter 38 when it splits into another narrative, the first sentence of this narrative feels incredibly long and I did have to re-read it a couple of times to understand what was being said.

Thank you very much to NetGalley and the publisher, Bookouture for the opportunity to read this fantastic book!

I have posted this review to my NetGalley and Goodreads accounts. I will also post a review on my Instagram and Tiktok a week before the publication date (16th September 2022). This book will be available to purchase as an e-book on Kindle for £1.99.

This is a fantastic read!
It’s my first book by this author but won’t be the last. It’s delightfully dark, intriguing and engaging. I thought the twists throughout were well developed and the book has been written in a way that quickly absorbs the reader.
I’m a little gutted to have finished it!

This is a very fast-paced, riveting, page-turner that kept me guessing until the very end. Avery is married to Keith and they have a 7-year-old daughter, Mia. Keith is out riding his bicycle and is hit by a car that does not stop. In the hospital, just before he lapses into a coma, he utters the words "I took a life" to his Avery. Avery and Mia move back with her parents and strange things begin to happen. There are a lot of twists and turns in this book and every time I thought I had it figured out, I was wrong.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this very exciting book that I read in record time because I could not put it down.

Review of “My Husband’s Secret” - L.G. Davis

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC! My Husband’s Secret comes out on September 16th ♥️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Wow! This book surprised me in so many ways. Because I read a lot of thrillers, sometimes I’m not all too shocked when it comes to twists and turns in books, but this book and its twists kept me gasping and -most of all- reading through the day.

This story gripped me from the start and didn’t let me go, even when I wasn’t reading, I was still thinking about the story. The writing style is very nice, easy to read but very suspenseful. All the little twists and turns happened throughout the entire book which I loved.

For me, the book didn’t feel slow at all, but I would understand if that’s the case for some people, because there’s a build-up. I do appreciate that a lot in a book though, so for me it was a plus.

Must read! 🤍

Seriously dark and sinister with lots of twists and turns, not all of which I saw coming. There are some deep and brave themes including neglect and child death and kidnaps. The story unfolds at quite a pace and maintained a good level of intrigue and interest, so much so that I finished the whole thing in a day. I liked the characters as a whole but probably now have heightened trust issues! Obviously I can’t say too much without giving away spoilers but I would definitely say trust nobody and be suspicious of everyone.
Some aspects of the plot and timeline didn’t ring 100% true for me but that might just be my intense scrutiny of artistic licence.
A recommended read and good all entertainment.
