Really enjoyed this one! I should have read it so much sooner! But I don’t regret it. This maybe a new obsession! I love the characters, plot, etc.
This was so so very pretty, and of course the classic tale of Little Women is as heart wrenching and lovely as ever!
I love Little Women and grew up reading the book countless times.
This new edition of a beloved classic is the same in text and now includes illustrations by Marjolein Bastin in the margins and in the white space at the end of chapters.
Each chapter of Little Women teaches a lesson to at least one of the sisters and to readers – anything from hard work to hope, forgiveness to pursuing dreams, heartbreak to healing.
This is one of my absolute favorite classic. This was a stunning copy of it. I loved it. The illustrations throughout only enhanced this beautiful story. I would love to see other classics done just like this one. I would love a whole collection of them! Just gorgeous. Thank you to NetGalley and Andrew McMeel Publishing for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

This is such a beautiful edition of Little Women. The illustrations by Marjolein Bastin are absolutely stunning and fit so well with the prose. I would reccommend this and the other books by Marjolein Bastin.
I have read Little Women by Louisa May Alcott several times, but this is a different version with Illustrations by Marjolein Bastin. The only thing I wish is I could have the chance to see it in person. I am sure it is even more beautiful. If you are a Little Women, Louisa May Alcott, Classic Literature fan, or enjoy beautiful artwork this is definitely the book for you. I look forward to not only seeing this book in person but finding others in the series.
Another lovely edition of Little Woman that is perfect for collectors. I was very happy to re-read my all time favorite book and to have the joy enhanced by the beautiful illustrations.
Little Women has always been one of my all-time favorite classics. And that hasn’t changed. As reading this version of Little Women has reminded me. The Illustrations in this one just added to the experience. And made the story come alive.
Many thanks to Netgalley, Andrews McMeel Publishing and the author, for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Little women is without doubt one of my favorite classics and when I decided to reread it this year after watching the new movie, this illustrated version was the best one to do it with. I absolutely loved every bit of it, especially the flowers and birsd illustrations. The story as almost everyone knows by now is the poignant tale of 4 sisters.
I am sure when in a few years I come back to this marvellous piece of literature again, this edition would be my first choice
The exquisite illustrations of Marjolein Bastin meet timeless text in this elegant special edition of an American masterpiece.
Grab yourself a copy of this book! I absolutely loved this! I read this book within a day, I couldn’t put it down. I loved the characters!
What an amazing classic! This book lived up to all the hype I had heard about it. Throughout this episodic tale, I grieved and laughed with the March family. I found each sister to be particularly interesting in their own right, and I really cared about Beth's story. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for this book.
I own a couple other books in this style, and all of them are exquisite! As a librarian, I will say this book isn't one I'd purchase for the library, as it's one there are so many editions of. As a book collector, I would definitely recommend this one to others--especially as a gift for your bookworm friends!
I love this book. I always have. The journey of these characters are such a fun tale. I never wanted it to end. And I wish I could enjoy so much more of the story again and again.
This was a love rendition of the classic tale! It was lovely seeing these four little women again, and seeing how they’ve made the story their own in this new version!
Much like the March sisters themselves, this book is sweet and feminine. There are plenty of life lessons sprinkled throughout, from the emotional to the ethical, and I can certainly see how the book has become a classic.
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced reader’s copy e-book. This e-book version published on October 4th, 2022.
Little Women is a slow but beautiful classic. This particular e-book edition was especially lovely because it had hand drawn illustrations throughout the pages that really brought out the cute and innocent tone of the book. There were flowers and little birds and other cute images that were quite precious.
As for the book itself, Louisa May Alcott relied a lot on her memories from childhood and the character Jo is a representation of herself. Jo was my favorite character and it was a delight following her throughout the years from creative and witty 15 year old to a 25 year old who grows up and marries. All of the characters were quite lovable and I appreciated how the timeline started when they were young but ended when they were all grown up into women.
From my 21st century perspective, this was a difficult and slow book to endure. Unlike modern day books which cut out fluffy details, this book had excessive details and was very descriptive in every day happenings amongst the March family. I felt like I would have enjoyed it more if it was shortened from 400 pages to 300. But alas, they had a slower pace back then and it was very interesting to get a sneak peak into the windows of a 19th century American home.
I definitely recommend reading this classic at least once in your life because it helps bring perspective to a different time and place, written by a woman from that time. In a way, I think that's more enlightening than reading modern day historical fiction books because this uses the same lingo, descriptions, and context of a true 19th century home.
This book is the epitome of the power of sisterhood. Even now, this story hits so hard. Each sister is so different and yet they are the perfect team.
