Very informative book. Full of a lot of useful information. This book will also be very useful for future reference
A good beginner/intro to practicing witchcraft for the home. Since I'm knew to the topic I can't comment on the validity of the information or how it stacks up with other books on this topic or how the practices work, as I haven't had the opportunity to try any of them yet. Overall, an interesting read. *I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.
A good collection of information and rituals, laid out in the standard way -- information and history, rituals and recipes arranged by purpose, helpful correspondences at the back for those branching out on their own.
OK, I can't help it - I laughed at the author's name: Mystic Dylan. But overall, I enjoyed this book. I love the idea of creating the energy you want in your home, to doing things with intention, to creating your own magic so that your home is what you want it to be, and, by extension, creating who you want to be in your home. Do you want to feel relaxed in your living room, or energized? Is your house filling you with joy, or does it drain the energy from you without you understanding why? And honestly, even if you aren't really "witchy," it never hurts to purify your home. It's the place you should want to be. I like this book for beginners and anyone interested in making their home full of intention.
A good 101 book for hearth cultus. Includes the history and the practical aspects of being a hearth witch. For advanced practitioners this will be a rehash but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The writing is concise and clear. I recommend.
Honestly, as a practicing witch- I did find a lot of useful information within the pages of this book. I did enjoy the way the content was delivered and I am happy that I had the opportunity to read it and learn from it.
This is a very easy to read and complete look at how to incorporate or how to use witchcraft in your home. I think this is one of those books that you need to read cover to cover and then go back and think about or reread parts that you can apply to your life because it is full of information in tips about the subject. I think the author did a great job writing and describing what they were talking about versus just giving a very minimal look at the subject :
As someone who is big time into being a Kitchen Witch I loved this book. It's been fun to flip through and study now that its fall and I am more and more in my kitchen on a daily basis. I learned new things about my practice.
Witchcraft for the Home is a book about what magic in the home is, why it's essential, and how to prepare for it. The first couple of chapters are filled with great information and history about witchcraft within the home. This section gives a great foundation, while the latter portion of the book is a grimoire with various spells, rituals, and recipes that cover purifying, protecting, energizing, and blessing the home.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! As a witch who is a total homebody, I appreciated all of the information and spells on how to build a magical practice that fully incorporates your home. Even as a seasoned witch, I still find little bits of information in this book that I didn't know (like charming your furniture)!
One of my favorite parts of this book was that the author included a section for Key Takeaways at the end of every chapter. I liked seeing a shortened list of all the chapters covered in a way that was easy to read. I also appreciated that many spells and rituals were short and utilized ingredients most witches carry within their homes.
Overall, this is an excellent book for beginners and seasoned witches alike and would make a great addition to every witch's bookshelf!
I really liked the key take aways section at the end of the chapters. A nice collection of spells with varying amount of ingredients.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC for an exchange for an honest review.
A must have for the home, so much great info.
I like the history that’s explored at the beginning of the book. It’s great for someone either just starting out with witchcraft or has not delved into witchcraft for specifically around the home.
There are a vast array of spells in Part II which I am looking forward to giving a go!
Blessing Our Home
Dylan begins by providing background information on witchcraft in the home stating that it dates backs to the first-known magical illustrations is in the Trois Frères cave in France dating back to 13,000 BCE. He discusses the benefits, it's correlation with the Lunar phases, planets and astrological Signs, and it's use pertaining to the wheel of the year.
He discusses the various methods of cleansing and purifying your work space or home, the most common ways being via spiritual fumigation (i.e., smoke cleansing) and spiritual washes. He states there are many herbs and incenses that are perfect for cleansing spaces, such as frankincense, dragon’s blood, rosemary, rue, and amber. These can be burned in incense form or in a dried bundle. Spiritual washes are made exclusively for cleansing spaces. Furthermore, he states that perfumed waters or alcohol-based liquids that are intended specifically to be sprinkled around the home or used to wash floors and windows can be used.
He discusses some tools of a house witch, such as shrines and altars, cauldrons, candles and incense, crystals and stones, essential oils, kitchenware, foods and drinks, herbs and plants, just to name a few. Oh, let's not forget the grimoire or book of shadow.
The author now discusses the topic that a lot of us prefer to skip all the other stuff and go straight to the topic of spells, rituals, and remedies for a magical home. Prior to actually performing any spells, the author provides additional methods by which we can cleanse our work area or home, such as asperging cleansing, the witch 's broom cleansing spell, the archangel space cleansing ritual, the dragon blood cleansing ritual, and the sacred salt spell. These are just to name a few that Dylan discusses. Additionally, he outlines and discusses several purification rituals.
Dylan provides and discusses quite a few ways we can cleanse, purity, and bless our home with the rituals he provides in this book.
I highly believe this book would make a great gift and be a great reference book for any practitioner's library.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and Callisto Media, Rockridge Press for providing me with an ARC copy.

An interesting book that takes a look at witchcraft for the home. This book ended up being different from what I expected and I found it quite interesting. Perfect for beginners, the book starts out with a explaining witchcraft for the home, explaining the benefits and along with also explaining different topics that go along with witchcraft such as the seasons, planets, astrological signs, lunar phases and elements.
The book proceeds to help prepare the home for magic, explain the different tools needed, and covers how to transform your home with witchcraft. And of course, the book is filled with spells, rituals, remedies and even charms for a magical home.
I enjoyed this book, I found the explanations interesting and enjoyed that so much information was included. From the elements to the deities, all the benefits and just the basics that many books skim over quickly. The book is bright, has a airy feel to the designs and illustrations and overall a good read. I definitely feel it is geared towards beginners, although that doesn't mean those more experienced with magic wouldn't enjoy the book (they might just skip over a lot of the introduction and explanations). There are multiple spells, rituals, charms and remedies for each topic, such as cleansing the home and purifying the home, protecting the home and more.
If witchcraft for the home is something that interests you, take a moment to check out this book and see if it might be what you are looking for.
Witchcraft for the Home
3.5 Stars
I really enjoyed the first part of this book. We look more at the history and understanding of what house magic is and how to make your house a home. This book is very informative, and I learned a lot from history. However, this is the first book I've read by this author and on the topic of witchcraft. I enjoyed it from a beginner's standpoint. But I don't know how it stacks up for advanced readers that are practicing house magic. I appreciated alternative rituals that do not require burning herbs or sage. I'll likely use them going forward. At different times a year, I have allergies and cannot stand many scents. The second half of this book focuses on spells and rituals, which are pretty straightforward.
Overall, I enjoyed learning something new with this book. I also liked how the artwork was cohesive throughout the book, it felt welcoming. Thank you, NetGalley and Callisto Media, for an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book was a bit cliche for me but overall not terrible. I would probably pull in a few practices but mostly I wouldn't be able to utilize some due to having kiddos and pets.
Witchcraft for the Home is a great starter book for anyone interested in learning, like myself. You are given the chance to read and understand the history of witchcraft with the beginning of this book. Throughout the book there are cleansing rituals which I hope to use in the future. This is my first book about witchcraft for your home, I will take this as learning lesson and a chance to do some research to see how this pans out.
Thank you NetGalley and Callisto Media for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
After reading his previous books, I think I was expecting more. Candle Magic for Beginners is my favorite book by Mr. Dylan. Witchcraft for the Home seems more for those new to witchcraft. I think anyone who reads it will get some knowledge from it but that being said it is not a definitive guide and there might be a better book out there on the subject.
Still a good read though.
Thank you to NetGalley and Callisto Media for allowing me an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.
I love books that talks about home and magic and this was a good one. It's easy to follow, well explained, and I liked the idea and the spells.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for this ARC! I enjoyed this book a lot. The first part was more of a history and an understanding of what house magic means, and the later part contained spells. I enjoyed that a lot of the spells in this book had a background on when/how it was used and the history associated with it. I will definitely be using this book a reference in the future but it is definitely a very general book.
