I’ve seen Mystic Dylan featured on several YouTube videos and podcasts of popular creators, but I had never checked out his own work until now. I felt confident going into this book, because of how knowledgeable he comes across, but I have to admit I was a bit disappointed. Primarily for me it felt like there was no nuance to most of this book. The first third seemed like a lot of filler and the rest was largely rituals to cleanse your home. I wish there had been more verity; for example cleansing, purifying, and blessing had a lot of the same types of rituals. While Dylan did have a verity of cultures in each section, I wish there was parts on banishing, or even color association in the introductory parts. Speaking of the introduction, I found it to not be very useful. For example, he says that witches work with the moon in their practice so to keep track of moon phases. But he doesn’t say why. Even a simple chart to say you might want to cleanse your home during this moon phase and charge your protection wards during that one. It was like this for many things in the first couple chapters. I was also disappointed that there was no warnings. During one ritual he says to drink an herb that could be dangerous in large quantities, or to pregnant people. But there’s no warning to consult with a doctor. Also there’s no handling instructions on certain herbs. He frequently says to use one herb that’s known to burn skin if cut or handled by someone who might be sensitive to the natural oils. I know one author can’t cover everything in one book and often publishers have a specific outline they want written about. But these oversights seemed too large to ignore.
Very informative and helpful for newbies like me.
I will be purchasing this book and go back to look through it in the very near future.
I recommend
This book by Mystic Dylan is a treasure trove of ways to empoer your life and bring light into your home . There are many ideas for ritual and common items that most all have or can get to remove negative vibes. Lighten a room or disolve stress and create a happier atmosphere. I have read his other books and was very excited to see this come out. It is well written and the illustrations add a light but happy touch. Excellent book for rites to bring light into your home or life.
I enjoyed the explanations, history, and descriptions that were presented at the beginning of the book. Interspersed through the book were lovely drawings that really added to the home-ness. The rituals included truly do incorporate a kitchen vibe.
Great book even for the most basic witch, simple layout, easily understand and easy to follow. Great structure & layout to the book making it easy to navigate in the future, definitely adding to my bookcase.
This is a good one, written to help you use your powers to make your home all it can be. I often call upon my ancestors as they are the foundation of my life and I like that the author calls them your magic allies. If you want to make your home all that it can be, this is a good read for you.
This book is a thoughtful approach to keeping a home ready for witchcraft. While it isn't brand new, I love the author's variety of approaches and the way she divides up the book. My home is rarely craft ready. So, I am thrilled to have some tips for focusing on making my home cleansed and protected.
