I’m No Philosopher, but I’ve Got Thoughts by Krisitin Chenoweth is a biography with a dash of self-help. Learning about her life and things that drive and inspire her is interesting but there is not any advice given that has not already been put out there. The book focuses heavily on faith and Christianity that is not relevant to all readers. There are several essays broken up by lists, charts, and other forms of advice which was a different style than the normal biography/self-help which is one of the biggest takeaways for me.

Thank you to @Netgalley and @KristinChenoweth for the ARC.

This book was really difficult to get into. Most of the time I could not keep up with what was going on with the characters or the storyline, perhaps it was me. A book on the amazing actress and broadway star. It was just all over the place - not a huge story line and hard to follow. Which is crazy because side her life is such a huge success story. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I'm No Philosopher But I Got Thoughts is a shot of laughter and a shot of wisdom mixed together. Written by Broadway powerhouse Kristin Chenoweth it is filled with stories about her career and life. It is also filled with things that inspire her and keep her going. As a Broadway aficionado, I devoured this book and could hear it being read in the authors voice.

This book is part memoir and part philosophical. There is strong focus on scripture which is one of the things by which the author builds her foundation. I thought the messages she was discussing her relevant and could be used in various situations. There is an ability to apply them where necessary.

I would recommend I'm No Philosopher, But I Got Thoughts to anyone who is a fellow theatre fan. As I said, you can hear Kristin's voice as you read (especially if you listen to the audiobooks) which was fun. I would also recommend this to anymore who is looking for some inspiration, or even just a good laugh. This is a bright spot on the philosopher bookshelf.

I’m No Philosopher, But I Got Thoughts by Kristin Chenoweth – 2 Stars

I really wanted to love this book, but it fell so flat for me. I thought I would be reading a personal memoir of Kristin Chenoweth’s life, and while there are some personal stories, it was mostly a coffee table book / journal with a few stories peppered in. I was given an advanced reader copy through NetGalley, so I will say that my experience was completely altered reading it on a Kindle, but it felt like it was just the same picture of her over and over with some random quotes thrown in. I love Kristin Chenoweth, so I hope she comes out with something else.

This was a great little book, perfect for fans of Kristin, but also able to be appreciated by people who live under a rock and don't know her yet. The book was fun and funny, poignant and profound.

This was a fun and interesting celebrity memoir! I’ve always liked her, especially as Glinda, and it was nice to read more about her life.

This is a cute coffee table book. I liked the illustrations and layout. I do wish it had been more obvious that the book contained a good bit of religion. This was not clear to me and some readers may care about that.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest, personal opinion. I really enjoyed Kristin Chenoweth as a performer and this book just cemented that opinion. She gives life advice but in a way that works for her and just might work for you as well. Along with little tidbits about her life and experiences, she throws some wisdom in there too. Good read!

Cute, motivating and full of positive energy. These are words I would use to describe both the author and the book. It was a quick read and full of advice. Short chapters and funny stories make this an enjoyable biographical book about Kristin Chenowith and her career. Recommended for fans of the author.

This was a sweet book, but unfortunately not for me. When originally requested, the summary was not as clear to how much related to religion. I know Kristin is a religious person, but I was hoping for more Broadway anecdotes.

This will be the perfect niche book for those who love theatre and are Christian! Maybe not so much for the a Jewish performer like myself.

Have you ever seen Chenoweth interviewed? She writes and carries herself throughout this book the same way. Her parents instilled the need to have a solid work ethic and she has done that. I attribute her fun personality to upbringing.

She doesn't delve deep, ask for pity or paint herself as a victim. She does mention tough subjects, speaks candidly and maintains her priceless humor.

I enjoyed the parts of her life she shared.

I would gift this to not just a young person considering theatre, but anyone who has a dream.

Overall, I quite enjoyed this book. Chenoweth was open without getting bogged down in the details. She brought up stories and lessons when they were relevant rather than chronologically which helped the flow of the book. It’s laid out really well and it is fun. There are lots of pages with few words that add to the experience. I don’t think there was anything profound and I think you would enjoy this a lot of you are a fan of Kristin Chenoweth. I would have loved some more illustrations in the style of the front cover and even more of her opinions and quotes rather than other people’s.

Thank you to Harper Celebrate and NetGalley for the e-ARC of I'm Not Philosopher, But I Got Thoughts.

I was so excited to learn that Kristin Chenoweth was coming out with a new book. Since I was a child getting into musical theatre, I always looked up to Kristin Chenoweth for not only her glorious talent, but also how unapologetically herself she is. That's exactly what you can expect from this book. It's thoughtful and silly with meaningful anecdotes and reflections. She also offers meaningful questions and ideas for further reflections. Personally, as someone who is not religious, the bible verses and stories were not for me. In addition, the artwork did not translate well to the e-copy. That said, I highlighted quite a bit of wonderful nuggets, including the following:

"Disruption is abrupt--even unkind--and we feel it as a loss, because it is. It is a loss! We have to honor and mourn it, but then we gotta be honest with ourselves about what we were willing to sacrifice for the status quo."

3.5/5 stars

I will not be posting my review on my Bookstagram due to the ongoing HarperCollins Union strike, until the employees receive a fair contract.

Kristin Chenoweth is utterly charming, smart, and entertaining as always. This is a very enjoyable read that gently encourages readers to reflect and become better versions of themselves. There are fun infographics, journal prompts, and thought exercises to help readers ponder big ideas like connection, humility, and openness to life. The book does reference Christian scriptures and concepts, but not in a way that's preachy or prescriptive. It's merely offered as one more thing that may help a reader make sense of themselves and the world. Personal growth is always a worthwhile goal and I would highly recommend picking this up as a fun, useful way to continue on that path.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

This was a cute, quick, and easy read that was less of a memoir and more of a meditation on life and going through it. I learned some new things about Kristin, and I thought the little asides, meditations, and prayers were cute. Thanks to the author and NetGalley for this ARC!

This was such a quick, easy, and enjoyable read! I loved the way Chenoweth sprinkled fun quotes, and interactive activities throughout the book! I went into it already being a fan of Chenoweth, and I found that she really allowed her personality to shine throughout! I truly enjoyed her positive outlook on her environment, and the way you could feel the love and warmth in her words. This book is a perfect easy read for any Broadway fan out there!

Thank you #Netgalley.

Love Kristin and her outlook on life! So many fun quotes, stories and thoughtful prompts are scattered throughout this read. I learned a few things that I had not know prior, such as being adopted and eventually connecting with her birth mother, her on set accident, and a few others. Was a very quick read, I tended to skim the meditations and some of the interactive components. I was hoping for me essays, but recognize this was a different type of read.

Kristin Chenoweth's book is the actress at her most honest while handing out pearls of wisdom.

I'm No Philosopher, But I Got Thoughts: Mini-Meditations for Saints Sinner and the Rest of Us is an easy read that is part memoir, part spiritual guide, and all honesty. From television actress, and Broadway star Chenoweth includes meditations and activities that go with each theme of the chapters. Readers get behind the scenes look at her life including her accident doing the Good Wife that changed her life. The book is as complex as the woman herself: the book bounces from Bible verses to F-bombs. And there isn't anything wrong with that.

I like how the chapters are divided. Each one features events from Kristin's own life focusing on a theme, say closure. She gives her view honestly, sometimes solemnly, but always with some humor. She has included inspirational quotes and Bible verses that motivate her in hopes they will motivate the reader. Also included are engaging prompts, activities, and small prayers for dealing with each theme. Honestly, this book is as unique as Chenoweth herself.

The best part though? The book has heart. Chenoweth has some truth bombs that hit hard but are wrapped in a pink bubble of love and humor. Readers are invited to develop their own life philosophies using the author's journey of vulnerable and humorous personal stories. We are never pushed to just think one way but to handle those with opposite thoughts with love and reminded that we are each unique and are allowed our feelings.

Featuring philosophical-ish musings on loss, love, and faith, Chenoweth's look at the world is both deep but light and humorous—just like her.

Thank you Harper Celebrate for the advanced copy of this book!

Being in choir all throughout school, I was obsessed with all things musicals/show tunes and aspired to be a Broadway star just like Kristin Chenoweth. So when I had the opportunity to read her new book, I jumped at the chance! And let me tell you, this book is 🎶”….gonna be popular!”🎶

This is not so much a memoir but more of a daily dose of inspiring messages and motivation from Kristin. She shares snippets of her life and valuable lessons she has learned as well as quotes and passages that have kept her going especially when things gets rough. This book will have you laughing while at the same time reflecting on what motivates you. Most importantly, it will help you find kindness, love and the things that bring you joy.

Warning: After reading this book you’ll feel like you’ve had a close intimate conversation with the ultimate hype girl and will be ready to take on anything that is thrown your way!
