Yours Truly
By Abby Jimenez
Pub date : April 11, 2023
This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster. Between the miscommunication, fake dating and the unplanned pregnancies I was on the edge of my seat. 🪑
Abby did an amazing job with the two main characters Brianna and Jacob. Each character had depth and such a like ability that was insane. The setting is in a hospital and these two are medical professionals ! 👩🏻⚕️🩺🩻
I could relate to both Brianna and Jacob in a way I haven’t been able to relate to characters before. Brianna is strong independent and has a mothering spirit. 👩🏻⚕️❣️💪🏼
Jacob is sweet beyond measure and has issues navigating social situations. He talks about his anxiety in detail and I loved that. I felt seen reading this book and I saw so much of myself and my life while reading this book.
😵❌There is on thing I do not like and it’s the origin story of why Jacob needs Brianna to ground him while he’s a family events. I hate what happened to Jacob and it’s just a trope I don’t like .
But other than that this book was a lovely escape from my reality 💭 I would recommend this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
Read if you like:
- [x] Fake Dating
- [x] Enemies to lovers
- [x] The one bed scene
- [x] Workplace romance
- [x] Strong FMC

If you love the fake dating trope, this is going to be your favorite of all time. If you don’t love the fake dating trope, this is going to change your mind.
But honestly what I love about this book is that you’re just into the story and nothing feels like a trope. It’s a woman you’re rooting for because she’s smart and strong and she’s been burned and she’s vulnerable. And a man who is sincere and been through the wringer a bit himself but wants to take a risk maybe kinda sorta anyhow if his anxiety doesn’t get in the way and if he doesn’t get into his head.
And you’re just there for it, for the whole damn sweet sappy ride of ups and downs.
I love this almost as much as Part of Your World. Which I loved almost as much as THEAP. Which means this is my 3rd favorite Jimenez book out of 6 favorites. 😂 Thank you so much for the eARC!

Abby strikes again! Jacob is the purest and sweetest cinnamon roll ever and I love him so much. And not that he needs protecting but I’m SO glad he’s got Briana in his corner.
I loved Briana’s story and her character growth, it was realistic and comforting to read. I also loved how well Jacob and Briana were able to naturally speak each other languages and how fierce their connection was. I will admit that I did question if there was too many plot lines happening at once, but part of me didn’t even care because I had such a good time reading this. If Abby writes it then imma read it and have a good time doing it.
If you’re looking to preorder a book with some of the best tropes like fake dating and friends to lovers then this is the one to add to your cart asap!
Thank you so much to Forever and NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review!
4/5 ⭐️

I loved this book so much! I don't think I've ever yelled at a book so much "just go talk to them you nincompoop!" The writing had you going between laughing and crying like all of Abby Jimenez's books. She deals with complex themes in such relatable ways. Can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy!

Every time every damn time Abby Jimenez write these beautiful rich deep afflicted characters that has me in bed for hours dabbing at tears. It’s amazing how she interweaves these real life appropriate traumas and create something very beautiful and personal that it’s hard not to love. There is no one that does a reasonable miscommunication show much like her when the fall out happens it always just makes so much sense and has my heart dreading the moments until they both talk to each other openly and realize their misunderstandings. I love how she juxtaposed these two characters one having major anxiety and the other one very much social and at first glance you would think that her anxiety induced character would be the one with the most ‘broken pieces’ per se but it is Brianna who at face value looks completely normal who spends a lot of her time putting herself back together and it’s Jacob the one who on the outside does not do well in situations that Has to repair the pieces as he too is repairing his own self. She is an insta buy author for me for sure. God I loved this book. Thank you for sending me this beautiful arc.

Just when I didn’t think Jiminez could top herself she does it again. The story of Brianna, a recently divorced ER physician, who is also caring for her younger brother who is need of a kidney. When Jacob starts working in the ER Brianna almost immediately feels threatened but soon finds that Jacob is the amazingly sweet man others describe him as. They soon enter an agreement that helps them both all the while falling for each other.
The story had such an amazing cast of characters that each had such a good impact on the main characters. It was also such a great mix of making me laugh, cry, and pull at my heart. I loved everything about this story and how Jiminez masterfully tackled topics such as anxiety, adultery, and finding love after trauma.

Abby has done it again. This is my favorite so far. I love the characters and I wanted to savor and devour it at the same time. Make sure to have tissues because laughing and crying will be happening often. Abby has a gift writing romance and men and we should all be thankful that who she is eveyday on social network is how she writes. Read this book...you will love it!

Abby Jimenez does it again! This book will have you crying, then laughing on repeat for the entirety of it. Digging into the reality of dating after traumatic past relationships in a way you can’t help but feel you’re living in the book. Briana and Jacob are the embodiment of dating in todays world with a sprinkle of pixie dust. I found myself doing some inventory on my soul after reading. You won’t be able to put this book down!

I think she hit it out of the park with this one! I loved the story and the writing style. The dialogue was realistic, but so funny! The portrayal of an anxiety disorder is also the most realistic and compelling that I’ve read. I definitely laughed and cried more than once. Great book!

My heart. This book. its a yes/yes for me!
I am struggling to put together words so here’s my word vomit of a review. Probably don’t read it if you don’t want SPOILERS because I don’t want to be vague about why I loved this book.
I read this book in a day, I was fully consumed. I laughed, I cried, I got very emotional, I rolled my eyes, I did it all.
I just honestly don’t know where to start. Let’s start with Jacob.
Jacob, the fact that you aren’t real, gives me no hope lol. I went into this book worried I would have a hard time dealing with the fact that someone needs a kidney transplant, and I found myself more wrapped up in Jacob and his anxiety representation. The way that I saw myself in him, truly made me feel like what I often feel like and go through is normal. I know it’s normal for people with anxiety, but its different for everyone, but I genuinely felt his pain for some of the same moments I have felt before. This was the character I didn’t know I needed.
Briana, she’s brave, she’s smart, she’s bad ass, she’s strong, and truly at the end I was getting a little annoyed, and then wise Joy helped me put in perspective that I don’t know how to identify with Bri and her trauma response, so in the end, to me she was also perfect.
I seriously cried so much throughout this book, and not even because the sad parts were sad, but because Abby captured the emotions perfectly, and even in some of the happy moments, I just felt all the things the characters were feeling.
Okay, the moments that just took me away.
The quiet ones
The catchphrases
The handwritten love notes
The love-ridden crazy act of sitting outside in the rain, getting eaten alive by mosquitos just to talk to your crush?!
All of it, I loved this book.
Also it brings me a LOT of joy when Abby drops easter eggs of previous characters. I caught 3 in this book, how many did you?

Yours Truly is now not only one of my favorite books this year, but one of my favorites ever.
I don't know why, but when the author announced the blurb for this book, I had the biggest feeling I was going to absolutely adore this one. And I did.
Your Truly was everything I wanted in a workplace, rivals to lover, epistolary romance. Jimenez is a mastermind in the making of her character, their stories, and the general plot. Making everything work together so smoothly and creating the sweetest harmony.
She tackles tough topics and opens the doors to new rep. She does these things while also maintaining the most fantastic humor and the story incredibly romantic.
Like I said before, the main and side characters, the plot, all their stories, were AMAZING. I laughed so hard my tummy cramped, cried…hard, and had the most wonderful time getting to know Brianna and Jacob. The sweetest sunshine heroine and cinnamon roll hero pair to ever exist.
I cannot express how much I loved them in words, but please know I recommend this romance to EVERYONE.

I have read every Abby Jimenez book and like the others, this one knocks it out of the park. Brianna and Jacob are both ER doctors with different traumas that affect them daily and result in a rocky start to their relationship. When Jacob and Brianna are caught in a completely uncompromising position and assumed to be dating, they must keep up the ruse. Through the course of the novel, we see both of them working to be better people. Jacob learns that he deserves to be with someone who understands his social anxiety instead of sees it as a burden. Brianna learns that not all men are going to leave her high, dry, and pregnant.
This book depicts social anxiety so well and I liked how it felt like Jacob had done a lot of introspection to be able to communicate his needs so well despite having previously been in a relationship where his needs didn't matter.
I also really appreciated how Abby brings in real life issues without making the entire book about miscommunication. While an element of miscommunication did exist, it was rooted in the traumas of the characters, not a lie or misrepresented situation or secret. They didn't have a massive fight that was conveniently smoothed over after a big gesture. They communicated and resolved their issues and became stronger together.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) Publishing for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Abby Jimenez writes with her heart. This was such a powerful, well written story. I read the book in twenty four hours, not wanting to put it down. The characters were well developed, I could completely picture them and imagine being friends with them. The author was sensitive when writing about hard things - anxiety, abandonment, pregnancy loss. The entire book came full circle with love showing up. Read this book! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of Yours Truly.

Seriously, though, I’m not sure how Abby Jimenez manages to top herself with each book that she writes, but she keeps doing it! I loved this book so much—I read it in a day because I couldn’t put it down, and it made me laugh out loud and cry real tears. As usual, her ability to balance humor with some very serious topics is unrivaled. The chemistry between Bri and Jacob was off the charts, and I loved that this was a slower burn than her other books. So worth it.
I can’t wait until everyone else can read this book, and I am already looking forward to her next one!

OH MY GOODNESS. Abby Jimenez just gets better with every single book -- I couldn't put Yours Truly down, even when tears were running down my face. This book has Jimenez' signature look into the deeper emotions and broken pieces that keep even the truest lovers apart, a swoony love story, and fake dating that actually works. It's a real stunner and I will absolutely be making everyone I know read this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for the advance review copy. All opinions are my own.

I loved every second of this book. The amount of relatability was insane. I cried 93% into it. I was baffled because it hit me out of nowhere haha.
Jacob… as harmless as a man can be. He reminded me of my husband and *cries*..
Briana.. she was unapologetically herself - funny, kind, loving. Me in another universe.
“They had tiny brown dogs on them. I guess he was a novelty sock kind of guy.”
“I just…I’m nervous and when I’m nervous I…I sometimes miss steps.”
“I always think that when we’re quiet, we’re agreeing to be harmless to each other. That we’re just sharing the same space and letting each other exist exactly as we are, and neither of us would hurt or upset the other one.”
“I’d leave my comfort zone. I had to. Because that’s where she was. And for her I would go anywhere.”
“You know, love shows up, Briana. And even if you keep me away from you, my heart will still be where you are. So just let me be where you are.”
🫶🏼

LOVE SHOWS UP.
This novel is incredible. Abby Jimenez has a way of really letting readers into the minds of her characters. The tough topics were handled with care, the humor was perfect, and
As someone who struggles with anxiety themselves, I had a few chuckles reading Jacob’s point of view and thought to myself “oh that isn’t normal for everyone?” His character development was my favorite of any of the male characters in all of the Friend Zone and Part of Your World books this far. And that’s saying a lot, because, Daniel.
I loved Bri in Part of Your World, and all of the things that made her Alexis’ relatable bestie held up in this book despite her unfortunate post-divorce/brother’s caretaker status that had her mind racing a mile a minute.
I will be waiting for the next one, maybe only a little patiently. Doug next?

I was worried at first that the dialogue felt stilted, where Jimenez usually excels, but her witty, compassionate characters finally show. Through. Heartfelt and funny - another winner!

An introverted ER doctor with extreme anxiety and likely a sensory processing disorder. Another whose a well-loved extrovert dealing with the trauma of betrayal and a nasty divorce. Early missteps on both their parts which are ultimately revealed and forgiven through a series of letters written in the age of text messages! Add in a fake-dating scheme and the need for a kidney donor and this book has it all. The way the author handles Jacob’s anxiety is brilliant, both in how she writes from his point of view and how Briana comes to understand him. I absolutely loved this book and will be putting it into the hands of as many customers as I can when it releases!
