I loved this one! Abby Jimenez is quickly becoming an auto buy author for me - I think I’ll read anything that she puts out!

This book is a sequel to PART OF YOUR WORLD as it features Alexis’s best friend Bri - but you don’t need to read that one to enjoy this one! But let me say that I loved POYW even more so I highly recommend reading that one if you haven’t already!

YOURS TRULY had all of my favorite tropes: enemies to friends to lovers, workplace romance & fake dating! Jacob is a swoon worthy MC and I was turning the pages as quickly as I could to watch this one unfold!

Unfortunately this book also does feature one of my most hated tropes which is the miscommunication trope! The lack of communication dragged on for a bit too long which is the only reason why this book isn’t the full 5⭐️!

As always, I love Abby Jimenez! Her books always make me feel at home. I was laughing out loud and also felt like sobbing. So many of my favorite tropes in this book. (Spoilers!) I always recommend her books, and this series will be no exception to that. I'm loving these characters!

Dr Briana Ortiz's life is frustrating. She will soon be officially divorced from her husband, she lives in her childhood home that hasn't been updated since she was a child, and her brother is going through some serious health issues. Enter Dr Jacob Maddox, the new doctor in Briana's ER. He seems to not be able to do anything right even though he is an experienced ER doctor. After Briana has a particularly rough day and Jacob isn't coping so well either, they run into each other in their secret hiding place, a closet. Jacob suffers from anxiety and sometimes Briana just needs a quiet place to go and collect herself. They soon become friends and start exchanging letters with one another. Things build over time, but what will happen? Is he just interested because of needing to prove someone wrong? Is she just interested because of willingness and completely selflessness that will help her brother?

I really enjoyed these characters! I am a very sarcastic person with a quick wit (if I do say so myself). So there were times that I laughed out loud to their banter. I am also a nurse, so I completely appreciated the very accurate descriptions and proper use of terminology - BRAVO - because a lot of authors do not seem to do the appropriate research sometimes.

4.5 stars! What makes this not a 5 star read for me is the constant back and forth from Briana. To the point I started to really hate her if she didn't quit with it. There could be one less episode of her indecisiveness and utter weirdness and it would have been fine. This was a fun read, tearful at times, but overall a good RomCom. I will definitely have to check out more from this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Every book that Abby Jimenez writes is just perfection. Yours Truly is a beautiful contemporary romance book that showcases the depths of Abby Jimenez's talent. This book follows Dr. Briana Ortiz and Dr. Jacob Maddox, emergency room doctors. At first, Briana can't stand Jacob because he is up for the same position she is and she feels like he didn't work for it like she did. However, as they get to know each other better through letters and kind gestures, it turns out that Briana and Jacob have the potential to be very good friends, or something more. We also see that Briana has been very hurt in the past which actually is preventing her future happiness. Jacob has anxiety which can cause him to be perceived in a way that is not intended.

I love the way Jimenez writes her characters. By the end of Yours Truly I felt like I had a deep connection to and understanding of Jacob and Briana. I could connect their actions to their motivations easily -- it all came across as very logical. Jacob is so genuinely kind and sweet. He was such a good match for Briana -- who is a fighter -- but who also has been really burned. I loved the building of trust between the two and the slow burn. When they finally come together, it has such a big payoff. I loved that this book really had the main characters work for their happily ever after. Although this book is long, the pages just fly by. It was perfect. I cannot wait to preorder the next book Jimenez comes out with!

This is by far my favorite book my Abby Jimenez. Her wit and charm shines in her writing and this story just swept me off my feet. :)

Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez

this book was probably in my top 5 books that I read last year, I was one of the lucky influencers who received an arc and man I FLEW through it. I finished it in 24 hours and just loved everything. Abby's books always hook me. IDK what she puts in her books, maybe delicious cupcake frosting or something because every time I start one of her books I cannot put it down. Not a lot of authors have that effect on me, but I think thats why her books are so special to me. I love when she announces she's writing a new book, I just know its going to be amazing :)

Jacob and Briana were two really interesting characters who were sort of enemies, turned friends, turned lovers. I think Abby does an AMAZING job developing characters in her stories. Every character comes to life in her books. Even the supporting ones play an important role in the story. Briana wasn't my favorite FMC but she was likable. Jacob on the other hand was just ugh. Imperfectly Perfect. I liked their relationship and friendship. And for some reason this book gave me MAJOR GREYS VIBES. so if you like greys anatomy and you read this book, let me know if you had similar thoughts :)

As a person who suffers from anxiety, I think it was represented really well in this story. There were so many moments when Jacob felt anxious or overwhelmed and I could relate, because Id had those similar feelings. It was actually really comforting to read about, in a way it made me feel like I'm not he only person who has these thoughts and feelings while having an anxiety attack.

Any who :) this one was an easy 5/5 ⭐️ for me :)

To say I connected with this book on many levels is an understatement. I could identify with both main characters actually thanks to anxiety and betrayal trauma. But even with that, or maybe because of that it gave me a little hope in life. I get that this is a fictional story and this isn't real life, but I will still take that hope. It helped that it made me laugh the entire time. I honestly couldn't put it down and read it in one night.

Beautifully written Abby Jimenez, it was a lovely to revisit characters from Part of Your World and learn a lot more about Briana's life and her brother. I especially appreciated how Jacob's anxiety was described, the steps he was taking to manage it and the care that Briana took with him. Love that plant rooms, journaling and therapy are normalized. The romance between Briana and Jacob was sizzling, the fake dating to almost fake married was amazing.

Allll the stars for Yours Truly! Will definitely be one of my top reads of 2023.

Loved the main characters, Brianna + Jacob, both ER docs with real-life problems. They were both so well written and relatable. I especially liked how the author wrote about Jacob's social anxiety; gave me real insight into what this must feel like.

There were so many things I loved about this one; the humour-I found it laugh out loud funny in parts; the supporting cast of characters including their families and the sweet dog, Lieutenant Dan; the storyline itself. I just can't say enough great things.

Do yourself a favour and be sure to read this book. Can't wait to see what Abby Jimenez writes next 🩷

rating: 4.5⭐️
genre: contemporary romance
read this if you liked: When in Rome

review: Well , Abby Jimenez has done it again with her latest book, y’all! If you read Part of Your World, this book features Briana, who has quite a lot going on in her life. She is in the midst of a divorce and helping care for her brother who is on dialysis, all while working as an ER doctor, hoping to get a promotion. When Dr. Jacob Maddox rolls in, their first introduction doesn’t go well and the thought of her promotion being in jeopardy doesn’t help. But is there more to Jacob than he’s letting on?

Abby has a way of developing her characters in a way that they quickly feel like old friends. I really enjoyed getting to know Bri more and loved seeing her slowly let Jacob in after being hurt by her ex-husband. I loved that the two began communicating by writing letters to each other and thought it was a fun element to the book and a way to get to know both characters! The author handles sensitive topics throughout her books so well and really liked how she explored social anxiety with Jacob in what felt like such a raw, authentic way. She did a great job of tapping into his brain and explaining anxiety in a way that everyone could understand. I could relate to his anxiety in many ways as I am an over thinker and constantly think of the worst case scenario 🫣. Bri’s empathy towards Jacob was really sweet and gentle. I appreciate that they took their time getting to know - and fall in love with - each other. As always, I found myself smiling, laughing out loud and tearing up while reading her latest book.

My one complaint is the miscommunication between the two in the second half of the book. They were *so* good at communicating via letters that it bugged me that they wouldn’t just have a conversation (or write a letter!) in order to clear it all up! 🤯

If Abby Jimenez is especially good at one thing, its giving you a unique character in every book. Once I picked "Yours Truly" up, I read through it quickly. The plot moves fairly quickly and the relationship between the two main characters, Bri and Jacob, is very cute. The main trope is the novel is misunderstanding from miscommunication, and it is resolved in a satisfactorily way.

"Yours Truly" has an interesting sub=plot (which is throughout the authors works), about family problems and their intersection with our lives. Bri is weighed down by her brother needing kidney, and Jacob... has other family issues he is trying to work through.

I eagerly look forward to her next novel!

notable tropes: fake dating, there was only one bed, confessions in a broom closet

This easily became my favorite Abby Jimenez book to date. I don't know if it's the writing, the plants, Lieutenant Dan, or Grandpa, but this book delivered.

We met Briana in Part of Your World and I'm so happy to see her with her own book, her own struggles, and her own happy ending. The descriptions of anxiety and heartbreak/ache were spot on accurate portrayals and Jimenez gave the reader a deep understanding of the characters through their hardships and happinesses. If you like forced proximity, character growth, glitter bombs, and gut-wrenching third act breakups, then you'll love Yours Truly.

WOW. WHAT. A. BOOK! All the stars for me! I LOVED this one. This book had all the tropes, from bad first impressions to miscommunication to one bed (apartment in this case). I fell in love with both our main characters.
Briana is a hardworking ED physician just trying to make ends meet. Her life is no where close to what she expected at her age. She’s recently divorced and taking care of her brother who is in dyer need of a kidney transplant and a donor willing to help.
And Jacob, another hardworking ED physician suffering from severe social anxiety who comes across as a jerk but really just doesn’t know how to function in social situations.
I related to this book so much. As someone who suffers from anxiety I couldn’t believe how perfectly this author described Jacobs daily struggles.
AND THE LOVE - omgsh what a perfect love story the two had. I cannot say enough good things about this book. Truly phenomenal!

This was a fun easy read about love and finding your perfect mate. Two ER doctors become really close and things start to progress. Dr Briana Ortiz’s life is changing with divorce and her brother Benny who needs a kidney donation. Dr Jacob Maddox shows up to work in the ER and things start to happen. He secretly finds out that he is a match. He has a list of his own problems. They begin a fun dating game and fell madly in love with each other. A definite must read for the summer.

Yours Truly was a fun and entertaining summer read in the rom-com genre. Things I loved... I loved the characters. Briana was a firecracker and Jacob was a sweetheart. The secondary characters were interesting as well. The writing was witty and fast paced. Things that were so-so for me...I found parts of the story predictable, and the fake dating trope gets a bit old and overdone.

I appreciated the author's note at the end. I loved how she shared her personal experiences and how they impacted some of the themes from this story.

Definitely pick up this book to read this summer!

In Yours Truly, Abby Jimenez crafts a touching and emotionally resonant story that explores the complexities of love, grief, and second chances. With her signature blend of wit, heart, and raw emotions, Jimenez creates a compelling narrative that keeps readers engaged from start to finish.

One of the strengths of this book is Jimenez's ability to create authentic and relatable characters. The protagonist, whose journey is at the heart of the story, is a well-rounded and complex individual. The struggles she faces and the emotional hurdles she must overcome are portrayed with sensitivity and realism. Supporting characters, too, are given depth and purpose, adding layers to the overall narrative.

The romance in Yours Truly is beautifully developed, filled with tender moments and genuine chemistry. Jimenez excels at capturing the rollercoaster of emotions that come with falling in love, and she does so with a refreshing mix of humor and vulnerability. The dynamic between the main characters is organic and heartfelt, allowing readers to root for their happiness.

The book also tackles the theme of grief with sensitivity and care. Jimenez explores the different ways people cope with loss, and how it can affect relationships and personal growth. The emotional depth of the story is palpable, as the characters navigate through their pain, healing, and finding hope again. This exploration of grief adds a layer of depth and poignancy to the narrative.

Jimenez's writing style is engaging and witty, making the book a breeze to read. The dialogue is sharp and laced with humor, providing moments of levity amidst the more emotional scenes. The pacing is well-managed, with a balance between introspection and forward momentum, keeping readers invested in the characters' journeys.

While Yours Truly is a heartfelt and enjoyable read, there are a few instances where the plot feels slightly predictable. Certain twists and turns follow familiar patterns, which may be anticipated by readers well-versed in the romance genre. However, the emotional depth and authenticity of the characters make up for this minor drawback.

In summary, Yours Truly is a touching and uplifting story that explores themes of love, grief, and self-discovery. Abby Jimenez's ability to craft relatable characters and deliver a heartfelt romance shines through in this book. If you're looking for a story that will tug at your heartstrings and leave you with a renewed sense of hope, this book is a wonderful choice.

Not that Yours Truly needs anymore attention, but I have to say this is one of my favorite #mentalhealthmatters representation in any fiction book. I learned things about myself, my own anxiety journey. Things that I am currently doing to cope and didn't even realize as coping skills.

But most importantly, some grace and love for myself in the midst of my struggles. Reading about someone who has the same cycle of well being to spiral, the same self loathing, the same high and lows...and how that is all normal. It's ok to not be ok. Plus the romance was steamy, full of tension and passion.
