A wonderful, beautiful, well written read. A strongly written male lead with flaws and a proud female lead who needs to learn how to let things go and together they find one another. Such a wonderful story and so romantic and true to life. A must read.

Another heartwarming read from Abby Jimenez — quite a great cast of characters and a compelling plotline.
Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This might be my favorite Abby book so far! Jacob and the anxiety rep were so perfect, and it was nice to see that vulnerability in a character! I swear Jacob and I could be the same person. Anxiety, animal rescue, plant room, etc. Bri is tough as nails and has that beautiful soul. The miscommunication got a little rough there for a while. They were both so afraid of rejection, and putting yourself out there is scary AF, so I completely get it. Seriously loved everything about this book!

Abby did it again. I absolutely loved this book. Out of all her books, this is the one I could relate to the most. My twin sister had end stage renal failure and has had 2 transplant so far. I’ve seen first hand through my sister how kidney failure can affect your daily life. It’s hard. I read the authors note and I am so glad to hear Abby is ok. I love Jacob and Bri! So glad Alexis and Daniel were a part of this book too. Thank you, Abby for sharing. And thank you to Forever publishing and Netgalley for an early copy of this eARC.

4.5 stars. Despite some minor frustrations with the miscommunication between Briana and Jacob, I loved so much about this: the fake dating trope, the little love notes, the chemistry, the anxiety and chronic illness representation, and so much more. This was a fantastic love-story that I know I will be re-reading many many times.

This was my favorite Abby Jimenez by a landslide. Don’t get me wrong, I have adored every book of hers but Yours Truly was probably one the most enjoyable reads I’ve ever experienced.

Sweet bb Dr. Maddox had no right being the absolute perfect man. He was such a complex character with heavy internalized emotions. I honestly related a ton to his thoughts/feelings. Briana really needed some therapy but she got there and her journey was chefs kiss. Despite that I still truly loved her character. She is a take-no-shit FMC who has goals and will stop at nothing to reach them.

This had allll the best tropes:
•Enemies to lovers
•Forced proximity
•Fake dating
•Friends to lovers
•Workplace romance
•Mental Health rep
•Dual POV
•LOVE LETTERS 💌🥲

I highly recommend you pick this up if you loved Part of Your World, want a sweet & harmless (iykyk) love story, are a sucker for a big teddy bear mmc, and want to feel everything in your chest.

Also, there is minor miscommunication in this but honestly it’s done really well because it’s centered around mental health struggles.

Thank you so much Netgalley and Forever Pub for and advanced copy to review! Keep books like this comin bc they truly give me endless serotonin.

Abby Jimenez is getting better and better! I knew this wouldn’t disappoint! Such a great story with excellent representation. And Jacob Maddox might be the most perfect book boyfriend ever written?! Definitely hall of fame. As a healthcare worker I appreciated the medical setting and some difficult medical topics (organ transplant, miscarriage, chronic illness, anxiety/depression). But even with the heavy topics this story was so full of hope and highlighted the absolute best parts of a healthy supportive romantic relationship. Will read any Abby writes.

4.5 Rounded Up.

I received an advanced copy of Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez from the publisher Forever via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

What It’s About: Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is falling apart. Her divorce is being finalized, her brother’s rapidly worsening kidney disease and in need of a kidney donor desperately, and the promotion she wants, seems to be going to a new doctor who rubbed her the wrong way. But when everything seems to be permanently bad, said new doctor, Jacob Maddox, writes her a letter and it actually is great. The two start connecting and helping each other heal for Briana he restores her faith in men and shows her kindness and Briana helps with his anxiety. The two spend more and more time and ultimately gives Briana the best gift imaginable- a kidney for her brother- and when she works to return the favor things happen.

What I Loved: Oh gosh, this is the type of book that makes me a romance reader. Briana and Jacob are just two characters you cannot help but love, they feel familiar and like you already know them. They are truly delightful and they are flawed and human and you just can’t help but cheering them on. The way Jimenez writes about the challenges of chronic illness and living with severe social anxiety is so thoughtful and with care. The way these characters show love to one another is beautiful. I ate this up and I cannot recommend it strongly enough.

What I Didn’t Like: Okay, I’m gonna be honest I didn’t love the third-act (ie: last 15%) of the book, I didn’t love and it seemed out of character. I think overall this beautiful book is worth it but know that this trope might not work for everyone.

Who Should Read It: People who want thoughtful and loving romance stories.

Summary: Two doctors find their way to each other and healing can occur.

Rating 4.5

This was such a sweet story that will stay with me. It’s one of those stories that will make you fall in love with the romance genre again. Almost all of my favorite tropes were in this story! This author really knows how to write characters that tug at your heart strings. I loved both main characters when they interacted together and on their own. I love how this author writes realistic characters and situations but adds in the fictional elements to keep you invested. The letters they shared were so cute and really reminded me of my fiance and me when we first started talking. This story started out super strong and immediately hooked me. I was smiling, laughing, and I was even about to cry at points. While those feelings stayed throughout the whole story I will say the book did start to get a little slow towards the middle. Now, this could have just been a me thing. Maybe my mood was shifting since I’m a huge mood reader! But even with the off pacing, I still loved this story. I would 100% recommend it and can’t wait to read more from this author.

Thank you so much for the gifted copy on #netgalley All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a cute romance book. A bit long at the end, Briana took too long to decide to be with Jacob. But I really enjoyed the book. Thank you ;)

Every new Abby book is my favorite, and this one is no exception (Jason 4eva, but you know what I mean!).

This book is full of realistic characters going through realistic ISH in their lives. I love that Bri leans into her villain era after finding our her husband is cheating on her with her friend. I love that Jacob manages his anxiety but it still impacts his life in a big way. And I love that these two characters don't have a meet-cute. They have terrible first encounters with one another that lead to a friendship that leads to so much more, and that the attraction isn't the only thing that keeps them coming back for more.

Bri + Jacob are people I want to be friends with, and that's one of the most important things for me in a book when I give it 5 ⭐️. I also love that their friendship blossoms because Jacob WRITES BRI A LETTER, and she writes him back!!!! My favorite part of this book is that we meet two flawed characters who take the time to really SEE each other. As an enneagram 9, I often don't feel seen or understood, and that hurts. These two characters and their previous relationships have made them feel like there is something wrong with them. I'm so happy they found each other and took the time to get to know one another. Jacob's family plays a huge role in this story, and I'm also extremely in love with their crazy/rowdy/in-your-face bunch. My family is much more like Bri's, but it's fun to experience other families (I would also be drained like Jacob if I had his family - haha!).

Per usual, there were so many other things I loved about this book: references to other books/places that Abby loves/Nadia Cakes/Alexis+Daniel/pop culture (especially the Smallville reference). The lesson that "Love shows up" and Bri + Jacob's commitment to "be harmless" to each other. That Jacob was so reserved but then became so expressive because he met HIS PERSON (and his romantic side is just... perfection).

I already can't wait to read this book again + for the audio to hit my account.

A fun, cute, predictable romance! It had a mixture of work-place romance, fake dating, and one bed trope (which is always fun when there’s more than one trope in a contemporary romance).

The main aspect I adored about this book was one of the main characters dealing with diagnosed anxiety. For as common as it can be, I feel like I haven’t read about a character and it made me feel so seen! As silly as it sounds, there were some passages where the main character was sharing his internal dialogue and I would be like, “that’s me!” It is sometimes hard to put into words what anxiety is like on the day-to-day or what triggers it, but Jimenez did such a good job of putting it into words. Also, the importance of having a supportive/understanding partner.

I had such a good time with this book! It was my first Abby Jimenez book and I can honestly say I’ll be reading another one. A sweet story between two people who deserved love and happiness. I had a great time and I completely recommend it.

“I’ve always wanted to end a letter with regards – oh, and to get one where someone signs it yours truly and calls me ‘dearest’. It’s so Mr. Darcy.”

ER doctor Briana’s life isn’t going so great—her divorce from her cheating husband is almost finalised, her brother’s chances of getting a much-needed kidney transplant are poor, and the new ER doctor, Jacob (or as the nurses call him, Dr. Death), is probably going to steal her upcoming promotion. But Briana realises that first impressions aren’t always correct when Jacob sends her a handwritten letter explaining the misunderstandings and revealing that he has social anxiety. Soon, Briana and Jacob start exchanging letters non-stop and spending lots of time together. The line between like and love starts to blur after Briana discovers that Jacob is going to be her brother’s kidney donor and Jacob enlists Briana to be his fake girlfriend to save face at his ex’s wedding.

Yours Truly is a contemporary workplace romance invoking the forced proximity, fake dating, only one bed, accidental pregnancy, and “enemies to friends to lovers” tropes. It’s perfect for fans of books like Two Wrongs Make a Right by Chloe Liese, Do You Take This Man by Denise Williams, The Plus One by Mazey Eddings, The Hating Game by Sally Thorne, The Love Wager by Lynn Painter, The Neighbor Favor by Kristina Forest, or Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez. Yours Truly deals with themes and topics such as mental health, chronic illness, female roles, communication or lack thereof, love and heartbreak, marriage and divorce, family, fear of abandonment, and loneliness and isolation. Trigger warnings include miscarriage, parental abandonment, cheating, social anxiety, and chronic illness.

First off, I liked how this was an easy and relatively quick read, so this book would be ideal to take on a trip or to read on a quiet day off. Briana and Jacob’s cute chemistry and “will they, won’t they” romance was very engaging and hard to put down, plus it was great seeing Alexis and Daniel from Part of Your World who made an unexpected appearances in Yours Truly as Alexis is Briana’s best friend! I found that I really enjoyed reading Briana and Jacob’s comical letters and the edition of Jacob’s journal entries—which Jacob uses as a coping mechanism for his mental health—towards the end of the book were very sweet and tearjerking.

One thing I didn’t really like was all the miscommunication and mixed signals that took place during Briana and Jacob’s fake romance and it felt like it took too long for them to realise their true feelings for each other and get together for real; their relationship was definitely a slowburn.

Overall, Yours Truly was an enjoyable and engaging read, perfect for fans of fake dating, slow burns, and workplace romances!

Well, it's official. Abby Jimenez will make me cry. I was a mess reading the last quarter of this book!

Lots of tropes in "Yours Truly": office romance, hate to love, fake dating. And epistolary, with actual pen & paper, which was a lot of fun! Highlights for me were the fantastic anxiety representation (all the thinking and thinking and thinking) and how funny the writing is throughout. An entertaining and emotional read.

I didn't love how long it lingered on conflicts caused by miscommunication. Felt like one of those situations were much could have been resolved with a conversation. But they got there!

Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for providing an eARC for review.

I LOVED Part of Your World and have been so excited for Yours Truly and Briana's story for awhile. This book did not disappoint! It was heartfelt and incredibly emotional. It also has the aspect of Brianna and the love interest Jacob communicating through notes which was a fun touch. It delivered the same warm fuzzy feeling that I got from the first book.

Thank you Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

So much of YOURS TRULY is really very beautiful, from the connection between the two leads to how supportive they are with each other.

I honestly don't want to say much about this one, given that its contents were almost totally a surprise to me, and I enjoyed it that way. But I'll mention there's an epistolary element, in case that's cat nip to you, too.

And really at the end of the day, it takes immense talent for an author to write about my all-time least favorite trope and STILL have me enjoy their novel.

One complaint: Toward the beginning of the book, one of the main characters says he "cuts out carbs" and describes that as helping him. Macronutrients (including carbs!) are vital for life. I personally cannot stand these sorts of casual comments perpetuating diet culture. I don't ever like seeing such sentiments in the books I read, but it felt especially out of place coming from a doctor who should know better.

Well my friends, Abby Jimenez has done it again! I know it's still early in the year, but I can safely say Yours Truly will make my favorites list for the year. I laughed, I cried, and I cried some more. This book seriously pulled on my heartstrings.

First, let me just gush about my new book boyfriend Jacob! He's seriously the sweetest, most pure soul. 🥰 And the way Briana and Jacob just naturally took into consideration each other's needs and always sought to make the other comfortable was so beautiful to read. I loved how they quickly moved past their initial awkward meeting to become such good friends.

Ok, now we've got to talk about the pining! Buckle up, because this one's a long ride. Briana and Jacob start fake dating with a real friendship and some very real more than friends feelings on both sides, but due to each of their own past scars the will they or won't they make it real was drawn out. But I didn't mind it one bit! I feel like in the context of this story, it just worked. And I loved watching each of them fall deeper in love before we finally got the long awaited HEA.

Abby Jimenez writes characters that I’m immediately attached to. I was so happy to revisit Dr. Brianna Ortiz, but this book was a bit heavy. Ortiz is finalizing her divorce, she is seriously unhappy in her life and her brother’s kidney is failing. Plus, she cannot stand the new doctor, who it turns out ends up being super handsome and a generally great guy. After some miscommunication Jacob sits down to put pen to paper and a pen pal friendship is born.
.
I absolutely loved their letter exchange and honestly it was the best part of the book for me! They were so adorable in their letters and their most honest, authentic selves.
.
When reading a Jimenez book always be prepared for some unexpected tears. As always reading any book with my bookish besties is that much better! Thanks @angiearoundwonderland and @daniiireads!
.
Huge thank you @readforeverpub and @netgalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Briana is eagerly awaiting a promotion as all other aspects of her life seem to be falling apart. When a new doctor, Jacob, threatens to steal it out from under her nose, Briana is livid. That is, until he writes her a letter that lets her in to see more of who he is at his core – and she likes it.

This is a classic fake dating romance. I loved the connection between Briana and Jacob – especially the way their relationship began with letter writing and lunches in the closet at the hospital. The workplace setting added an extra wrinkle in their fake dating scheme and made their story stand out from others in the genre.

Both main characters were really likable and layered. Jacob was such a sweetheart and the way he melted Briana’s heart was easily believable. I also especially appreciated the depiction of Jacob’s social anxiety, the way Briana supported him through it, and his recollection of how past partners had not made the effort to understand it.
