Abby Jimenez is one of my favorite authors. Her books are so full of heart and emotion, while still remaining fun and hopeful. One of my favorite things about her stories are the Easter eggs sprinkled throughout each book. I get a little giddy every time I find one 😂

Abby’s not afraid to tackle tough topics, and 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘺 is no different. The anxiety representation was thoughtfully done and added interesting and realistic layer to Jacob and Briana’s story.

Jacob was the sweetest, purest, most tender-hearted MMC, and I just loved him so much. He and Briana had fantastic banter, and their letters were just the best. Neither character was perfect, and I loved how they buoyed each other up and grew together.

This is a slow burn, but the pay off at the end is so, so worth it.

I don't know how she does it, but Abby Jimenez manages to really get me on a wide spectrum of laughing to sobbing within each of her books. Briana and Jacob are both so scarred by previous relationships and experiences, and while Briana definitely comes across as having it all together, she has been hit really hard by the live events she's experienced over the last couple of years. Jacob's experience of having anxiety is well depicted and deeply relatable for me, and the tender way in which Briana accepts what he needs to be able to manage it is the kind of thing that can send me deep over the edge with how much I loved these characters.

I absolutely loved this story. After the first chapter, I couldn’t put it down. This book is truly a masterpiece. I really love the way the author portrayed social anxiety. And she didn’t just wing it with it. I loved both main characters Jacob and Briana!

Highly recommend this one!

One of my favorite times of the year is when a new book by Abby Jimenez is going to be releasing. You can’t go wrong with a book by this author. If you’re looking for a book that promises plenty of laughs, wonderful banter, great characters, an emotional story, romance galore, and a couple of adorable pets, this is the book for you!

Briana and Jacob were very likable characters that I was rooting for from the get-go. They may not have gotten off of to the best start, but theirs was a relationship that I was quite content to just sit back, and watch unfold. Their interactions were golden, their chemistry was intense, and the push and pull between them kept me happily turning the pages. As a reader, I was completely on board with them falling in love, but their romantic relationship didn’t come easy, and they both had suffered broken hearts in their previous relationships. Truthfully, who wants to read about an easy-peasy relationship? Not this reader. Give me the turmoil, the heartache, and take me on the journey.

As I mentioned, this book had great characters. From the main characters to the secondary ones, each one provided exactly what the story needed. It would be remiss of me not to give a shout-out to Grandpa and Jafar.

As always, this author never steers me wrong. Yours Truly is a well-rounded romance that offers up the perfect amount of wit and romance.

*4.5 Stars

Loved everything about this book. As much as I think I know what Abby is going to do in a book - she continues to surprise me. Brinna and Jacob end up getting to know each other by writing letters - such a lost art. Pick this one up!

Summary: Briana and Jacob are ER doctors who have a rough first meeting. Although introverted & anxious Jacob is immediately taken with her, Briana takes a bit to realize Jacob is a good guy, but once she does, she’s all in. They start fake dating and that ends how all good fake dating ends: with one bed and real love.

Review: I loved many things about this book. Briana and Jacob have an easy chemistry and togetherness and the themes of promising to be harmless to someone really resonated with me. The book also had many truly laugh out loud moments (Jacob’s perfect interjection of catchphrases, iykyk). I appreciated how developed the families of the characters were and the inclusion of all the little daily joys (taking care of plants, bringing a loved one a meal) that make up a life. That was really lovely. And Jacob is donating a kidney to Briana’s brother. That’s so incredible.

Things that bothered me (spoilers): the two on-page sex scenes both take place when one or both characters are extremely upset about something and while it’s referenced that they’re having a bunch of joyous sex in between it seemed kind of gross to me that the explicit scenes were when… these people should not have been having sex. It is explicitly written that Briana is having sex without a condom or any form of birth control and I’m like - two doctors? Seriously? They BOTH know better. And it seems extremely out of character for both of them. Unhealthy practices bug me. Moving on from sex: the two of them competing for a job was a major part of the beginning and then that storyline never goes anywhere and is never mentioned again* and that struck me as very odd.

*I did read an advanced copy so the final version may differ.

Abby Jimenez is a freakin’ genius.

Yours Truly does not disappoint. Yours Truly is a rom-com about Briana and Jacob, two physicians who fall for each other in an unlikely way. All of Abby’s male characters are dreamy, but Jacob is especially dreamy- he’s a doctor, a gifted writer, he adopted a 3-legged dog, he has an entire room devoted to his plants, he loves his family, and he handles his social anxiety in such a pure and real way. Plus, he treats Briana like an absolute queen.

Like all of Jimenez’s books, Yours Truly can be read as a standalone. There are little Easter eggs throughout that tie in with some of her previous books, as well as some past characters you know and love getting living out their happy ending, but you do not need to be familiar with her previous books to read this one.

This book is perfect for rom-com lovers, people who love books that make them laugh and cry (sometimes at the same time), those who know and love someone with chronic kidney disease or who are awaiting a transplant, anyone who has experienced social anxiety, and all my fellow introverts.

I urge all readers to read the Author’s Note at the end of the book. Abby discusses her inspiration and personal reasons for writing this book. I have read all of her books and been part of her group on social media for several years now, and can say she is the most pure and down to earth author I’ve ever encountered. Abby, thank you for being you, and for sharing your books with the world!

A sincere thank you to Netgalley and Forever Publishing for the electronic arc of Yours Truly.

The way I loved this book. Abby is an autobuy author for me, and I cannot wait to add this wonderful, heartfelt, poignant love story to my shelves.

Briana and Jacob started off on the wrong foot, but I LOVED watching their relationship morph and change as they got to know each other better.

I really loved how Jacob’s social anxiety was handled, and there were a lot of times where I wanted to crawl into these pages and give him a big ole hug—though he’d probably hate that.

I’ll admit, I hated the good ole boy routine from Briana’s superiors and how they didn’t want her to get her job based solely on her own merit and a decade of experience in the ER, but I loved how she rose to the challenge. And her friendship with Alexis made me so happy 🥹 those Easter eggs to Jimenez’s other books were perfection.

All that is to say, I absolutely loved this book, and I can’t wait for what’s next from Abby!

Abby is the GOAT! This one is up there as an all-time fave. Such a sweet story, immediate connection and chemistry in true Abby fashion. NO ONE writes dialogue better than Abby. I laughed, I cried - I adored this book! 10/10 will recommend.

Thank you NetGalley, Abby Jimenez, and Grand Central Publishing for the opportunity to read this e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

I absolutely LOVE Abby Jimenez and this book is probably my new favorite of hers! I loved Brianna and Jacob! I love how she portrayed Jacob and his anxiety and as someone who has very similar anxieties as Jacob, I felt so seen. It made me feel like I wasn't the only one who felt this way and I just really appreciated her writing his character that way. I loved every second of this book! It had me literally laughing out loud at Brianna and Jacob's banter, tearing up at times, and just completely smitten with them as a "couple" ◡̈ I couldn't put this one down but also was so sad when it ended!

Without a doubt a 5 star book for me!

I absolutely could not put this book down. Abby Jimenez hit it out of the park with yet another funny-yet-heart-warming (and sometimes heart-wrenching) romance.

I don't know how she did it, but Jimenez managed to put every single trope I don't like into a book and I still couldn't turn the pages fast enough. If Abby hadn't already been an auto-buy author for me, she would for sure be on that list after reading Yours Truly.

Briana and Jacob's story just melted my heart. Watching these two characters go from mild hatred and bafflement to letter-writing acquaintances to the perfect match for each other was a story I never wanted to end.

Jimenez perfectly handled social anxiety, from party etiquette to mapping out parking situations and looking up restaurant menus in advance. Jacob will make many readers finally feel seen.

Jimenez's signature writing style is back in full force: funny, poignant, heartfelt, dramatic, and frustratingly beautiful. Briana and Jacob's story - as well as both their families' - had such full lives, even when things seemed bleak, and I could easy read another book featuring our main characters, or Benny, or Jacob's parents.

Between the sacrifice Jacob made and the way Briana so effortlessly adapted to Jacob's anxiety's needs, these two are obvious couple goals. This was not a story of insta-love, but their journey was well worth every page they (and I) waited.

I cannot recommend this book enough. Briana and Jacob's journey was perfect (even when it was full of tropes that usually frustrate me), and I adored every interaction these two had as they got closer. Yours Truly will be a book I recommend to everyone for quite some time.

i was so happy when i saw that i received an arc for this book because i couldn’t wait to jump back into this universe. part of your world was a 5 star read for me in february, so i definitely came in with high hopes.

the way that abby jimenez writes romance is just unmatched. every single story feels so realistic and beautiful that i always leave with the most wonderful takeaways. i think in the romance genre it can be hard to make tropes seem practical, but i always am so convinced in a abby jimenez story. the fake dating, workplace romance, and dislike to lovers was incorporated so naturally it was hard to believe that it was fictional.

jacob and briana were so strong as individuals and come together to become real soulmates. in every conversation, they had so much chemistry it was unreal. i think they had a very mature relationship and outlook on life which was also so refreshing. i genuinely will think about quotes from this book forever. it has so much to say on finding your soulmate, helping a loved one through a medical diagnosis, what it’s like to live with anxiety, and moving on from past relationships. this one will definitely pull at your heartstrings!

i didn’t give this a perfect 5 stars because i think it felt a little bleak in the beginning of the story. so it made it a little hard to just jump right into. however, it was important to the characters growth and development so i understand why it is included. it really isn’t too bad after 50% mark where you get to see it to it’s full effect.

definitely another hit for me! i cant wait to see what abby jimenez does next❤️🤍 thank you to abby jimenez, read forever pub and netgalley for the opportunity to read this novel 💌

Briana and Jacob are not at all on the same page when they meet. Both are guarded ER doctors struggling with personal issues and strike up a friendship through letters. I absolutely LOVED this courtship! Abby’s writing is some of my favorite. There is a vulnerability and rawness to her characters that is incredibly relatable and really connects the reader to the story. The mental health representation is beautifully portrayed and the perseverance in both characters filled my heart. I'm a fan of dual POV and Grey’s Anatomy which made this one of my all time favorites of Abby’s. This one comes out tomorrow and I think you’ll definitely want to grab a copy!

“I always think that when we’re quiet, we’re agreeing to be harmless to each other.”

Dr. Briana Ortiz is seriously struggling. Her divorce is almost final, her brother needs a kidney donor, and her promotion is going to the new guy, Jacob. The new guy is obviously someone she is prepared to hate. That is, until he decides to change everything and write her a letter.

If you’ve ever seen me review an Abby Jimenez book before, you’ll know I love them so so much. This one was no different. The meet cute is always fantastic, the characters are always so lovable, and the laughing is usually equal to the crying.

Jacob is the kindest, purest soul I’ve ever met in a book boyfriend. His social anxiety is often at the forefront of his mind and makes him feel not good enough as a partner, but he’s also kind and gentle and caring and patient.

This book also has some Alexis and Daniel content, a trip back to Wakan, Jacob’s wonderful family (especially that sneaky grandpa), letters, fake dating, and lots of healing.

One more thing: what’s the best romance trope? Only one bed. What’s even better though? When a book acknowledges it’s using that as a trope. I absolutely love when romance books poke fun at the tropes as they’re using them and that happens a lot here.

Thank you so much to netgalley and Forever Publishing for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Yours Truly is another outstanding rom-com by Abby Jimenez.

To say that I was excited about this book is an understatement. Yours Truly is one of my most highly anticipated books for 2023. I loved Bri's character in Part of Your World and could not wait to read her own love story. Compared to Abby's previous books, Yours Truly has such a different vibe. There isn't as much spice in this book, and the story has a slower feel.

One of the great things about a book written by Abby is you are not just getting your run-of-the-mill rom-com. All of her books (this one included) tackle series issues, have a tremendous amount of depth, and have characters that are so real and relatable. Every time I read one of her books, I feel so many different emotions.

If you are a fan of medical romances, then you will love hanging out with Bri and Jacob, who are both doctors. Surprisingly I enjoyed all the medical bits in this book. I found it incredibly interesting, and it complements the overall story. It was great watching Bri and Jacob excel at their jobs, and listening to their horror stories from the ER was funny.

Bri and Jacob are amazing characters, and I adore everything about them. First, let's talk about Bri. We met her in the previous book, Part of Your Word. She was Alexis's best friend. Bri's life has hit a rough patch. Her brother is sick and needs a kidney transplant, her divorce is about to be finalized, and she lives in her childhood bedroom. Bri is one of those characters you love hanging out with. She has this outgoing, caring personality, and it appears like she has her shit together. But underneath that exterior, she is a wreck. Watching her try to care for her little brother hit me in the heart. I'm a big sister, and I know how hard it is to see your brother suffering and feel there is nothing you can do to help him. Bri emotional reaction to her brother's situation made her feel so human. Bri also struggles with trusting men. Her father and ex-husband did a number on her, and she doesn't want to open up her hurt to another man. I loved watching Bri grow and slowly (very slowly) start to trust Jacob with her heart.

Jacob is a sweetheart! He has high social anxiety, and it was heartbreaking and interesting watching how he navigates through the world around him. Abby did a great job showing readers how anxiety can affect every aspect of a person's life. Jacob has to make sure that his life is structured and that he knows what will happen next, or he could have a breakdown. I have a few people in my life who have anxiety like Jacob has, and I was blown away at how accurate Abby was when describing Jacob's life, how his mind works, and the emotional highs and lows he goes through. Even though Jacob struggles with anxiety, he is still considerate to everyone around him and had my melt whenever he would do something super sweet for Bri. I just wanted to hug him.

The relationship between Bri and Jacob has this slow-burn feel to it. There was some MAJOR MAJOR pining in this book from both Bri and Jacob. These two had it bad for one another almost right from the very beginning. Jacob started falling for Bri from the moment he saw her, and Bri started falling for Jacob as they were writing letters to each other. But they keep their feelings a secret because of miscommunications and past hurts. These two don't get together until we are 80% into the book, which is pretty late for an Abby book. Part of me liked Bri and Jacob's romance, and part of me didn't. I loved the letters these two wrote each other. A handwritten note is always so personal and thoughtful. I enjoyed watching these two get to know each other; their conversations were witty, thoughtful, and in-depth. They wanted good things for each other and would do anything to ensure the other person was happy—so many cute moments happened between them. What drove me a little crazy was how long it took for them to get together finally. There were so many moments when I thought they would finally get together, and then something would happen to prevent them from making a move. It felt like it was dragging at times.

Yours Truly is a must-read for any rom-com fan.

Thank you, Forever, for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was SO cute!!! I wasn’t too sure about a medical setting since I’m not someone that likes needles/blood but I really enjoyed this one! I think the epilogue perfectly ended the book. Can’t wait for the next book from this author!

Yours Truly by Abby Jimenz
Rating: 5 stars
Steam: 1 chili
Pub Date: 4/11

When I started reading romance two years ago, The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez is one that I kept seeing recommended over and over. I read it in less than a day and quickly devoured the rest of Jimenez’s books that week. She has become one of my favorite authors, and I was SO excited to get approved for this ARC! I finished this book over a week ago and haven’t stopped thinking about Bri and Jacob since. I actually bumped up my rating from 4.5 stars to 5 stars for this reason alone.

I couldn’t put this book down and I never wanted it to end! Jimenez's writing is engaging and immersive and drew me into Bri and Jacob’s world. I loved these well-developed and relatable characters, full of flaws and vulnerabilities that made them feel like real people.

Jimenez seems to have more insight into the human condition than most people. She writes characters who feel their emotions deeply and make us feel them, too. This story is told from both Bri’s and Jacob’s POV, and we get a deep understanding of what each character is going through. Bri is dealing with grief over her marriage ending and the possibility that her brother might not get the kidney he so desperately needs. And Jacob’s severe anxiety is something that he’s learned to manage, but not without setbacks and struggles.

I loved Bri’s feistiness mixed with Jacob’s sweetness, along with their letters to each other and their friendship. Mutual pining is always my favorite in a friends-to-lovers romance, and the chemistry between Bri and Jacob was palpable! The dialogue was witty and engaging, and Jimenez’s writing style is easy to read and flows seamlessly from one scene to the next.

One of the standout aspects of the book is the way Jimenez tackles important issues such as grief, loss, and mental health in a sensitive and nuanced way. She doesn't shy away from difficult topics but handles them with care and empathy.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author, Abby for an early ARC in exchange for my honest review.

All I can say is, love shows up. It's as simple as that.

Walking into this book was like taking a breath of fresh air. Jacob Maddox must be protected at all costs and is a man worthy of our instalove. Abby brought out a beautiful story, while highlighting these characters' flaws differently and authentically. The social anxiety that Jacob had felt real. I could relate to how he thought and understood his anxiety when it came to loud social interactions and how he overthought everything.

I think Abby painted that disorder flawlessly, but despite his anxiety he SHOWED up. This man was too nice for his own kind and gave me such unrealistic expectations and high hopes for men and relationships, that it makes me hate and love Abby for creating such a wonderful character.

This book has every trope us girls could love: one bed trope, faking date trope, a wedding involved, workplace romance, forced proximity, you name it.

There are eccentric side characters and a three-legged dog, and the funniest quotes I have seen in a book that I was crying tears. Abby also portrayed some bigger and harder topics such as divorce, cheating and miscarriages, absentee fathers and the struggle of moving forward after dealing with something traumatic.

Although there was one trope I couldn't care for, I honestly could care less about how it happened in this context and how the story played out with.

By the end of this book, a part of me wanted to hand deliver Brianna to a therapist because seeing her trying to be brave and handle things on her own, broke my heart.

Overall, this book was absolutely cute and sappy and a sprinkle of spice. Abby's writing is fun and romantic, while being serious in the important parts.

Read if you like: workplace romance, fake dating, quirky characters, strong and resilient FMC, golden retriever MMC, secret feelings, forced proximity, one bed trope, mental health representation

This book personally did not work for me. I dnfed this at 89% when a trope was used that is my least favorite to read. I think a lot of people will really like this one but unfortunately I didn’t.

I am so obsessed with Abby Jimenez’s writing. I was laughing and smiling like an idiot throughout this whole book and by the end I was incredibly emotional and reduced to tears. I always feel such a connection to her books and the characters in them and this was no exception.

I was rooting for the MCs of this book to end up together from page one. I loved Briana since she was introduced in Part of Your World and seeing her get her HEA was everything. Jacob is the sweetest fictional man and I squealed every time he finally realized that it was possible to be understood and properly loved by someone. I loved that both characters were so complex and dealing with their own issues that they helped each other through.

If I had to come up with a single complaint about this book, it would be that the whole premise is based around miscommunication between the two MCs which I normally loathe. Written in Abby Jimenez style with tons of emotion thrown in, I may be a fan after all 🤷🏻‍♀️

Read this if you:
- Believe in the magic of The Grant House
- Love an MMC who can accept help and be taken care of
- Dream of receiving a love letter that starts with “Dearest”
