Abby Jimenez is slowly becoming my favorite romance author.

4.5✨
I was a little skeptical of this book because of such a high rating but it was so so good! I absolutely loved the characters, especially Jacob. I really appreciated how the author portrayed anxiety and touched on depression. This book also hooks you right from the start and I kept having to read "just one more chapter" because I couldn't put it down.

I really wanted to give this book 5 stars, but, while the end I thought was really good (as was the whole book) I was just kind of over the whole back and forth back and forth that Briana and Jacob were doing. I understand her hesitancy because she's been burned in the past, but I was hoping for something a little more original I guess? It just got old, her blaming him for things that weren't true or her projecting her feelings into him.

However, as others have said, the characters more than make up for the somewhat lack of originality.

Abby Jimenez at her best! I love her titles, the realness of the characters and how finding out what's next is so compelling you stay up WAY too late reading! Can't wait for the next title!

"I wanted to unravel him, find out more about he was. I felt like I was peeling his layers back one letter at a time, getting these little glimpses of someone I could tell was highly private and super reserved."

I absolutely LOVED this story! This is officially my favorite Abby Jimenez book to date! I felt so drawn toward Jacob and he definitely reached top tier book boyfriend status. I found him to be absolutely captivating and I loved how he was portrayed in the book. How their relationship moved forward was so fluid and beautiful.

As someone who gets anxious in large group settings and is very introverted, I related to Jacob so much. He was definitely the character that I loved the most.

"I'd thought that any show of gratitude would make me uncomfortable. But for some reason I didn't mind it now that it was happening, and I think it was because it was happening with her. I liked her"

This story is so beautiful. 10/10 recommend

Abby Jimenez always manages to simultaneously make me laugh while tugging on my heart strings.
Briana is at the tail end of a nasty divorce after her husband of ten years cheated on her. Dr. Jacob Maddox is the latest hire in the ER where she works, but nobody seems to like him. The truth is, he suffers from severe anxiety, and the fact that he’s moved to a new workplace where he doesn’t know anybody and they all expect the worst doesn’t help. He makes a terrible first impression with Briana, and to apologize, he writes her a letter. What follows is a series of letters they leave for each other–at their lockers, on their charts, in the breakroom… Both Briana and Jacob have been unlucky in their pursuits of love, but maybe this time love will sneak up on them both.
Yours Truly is a romcom that deals with quite a few heavy topics. As mentioned earlier, Briana is divorced, but Jacob’s ex-girlfriend–who never truly bothered to understand his anxiety–is getting married to his brother. Briana’s younger brother is going into renal failure and needs a new kidney. Jacob’s anxiety is depicted in a truly visceral and authentic manner. After I’ve listed all these tough topics, you’d think the book would be depressing. But far from it. The entire narrative is laced with a sense of hope, and there are so many hilarious parts to the story, from a threatening grandpa to a foul-mouthed parrot.
For those who’ve already read this book–does anyone else think that this book should have been called “The Perfect Match”? I mean, I have a feeling that that was at the very least the book’s working title. It would have worked on so many levels!
I absolutely adored this novel, and I will devour everything that Abby Jimenez reads. I highly recommend this book to basically everyone who reads fiction!

I don't know how Abby Jimenez does it because this book was full of things that I can't stand--so much miscommunication I was internally screaming at these lovable dummies plus a thing that I won't mention because it's a spoiler--and I still found myself completely wrapped up in this book. I loved Jacob and Briana so so much, and while getting them to their happy ending was low level torture, it was the best kind and so worth it!

I don’t know why I put off reading this book. I started after dinner and didn’t go to bed until I finished. At 30% I texted a friend. At 50% I was in love with Jacob. At 70% I was so invested that sleep didn’t matter anymore.

Yours Truly is soft and fast and so emotional in a way that only Abby can write. It’s so funny and heartwarming and pretty much perfect.

Briana Ortiz is an ER doctor at Royaume Hospital and being a shoe in for a big promotion seems to be the only thing she has going for her at the moment. Her husband cheated on her with her best friend and her divorce is almost finalized. Her brother, Benny, has chronic kidney disease and desperately needs a kidney transplant. Just when it couldn’t get any worse, Dr. Death walks through her ER doors. Jacob Maddox is the new ER doctor on staff and earned his title as Dr. Death by losing seven patients in one day. To make matters worse, he’s also Briana’s competition for the promotion she desperately wants. Briana attempts to console Jacob for his rough start, which only seems to make matters worse. Jacob battles anxiety and the inability to voice his feelings at times. He decides to send her a well thought out letter that she returns, and their relationship blossoms from there. Jacob turns out to be a perfect match for Benny’s kidney transplant. In an effort to pay Jacob back, she agrees to be his date to his brother’s wedding. His brother just so happens to be marrying his ex-girlfriend. Will Briana and Jacob need to fake anything at all?

I adored Yours Truly. This book was a slow burn that truly got better by the minute. I loved the hospital setting, the character development, the fake dating trope, Jacob’s struggle with anxiety and the rawness of it, and most of all, the happy ending. I predict this being a top book for 2023.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I've enjoyed all of the Abby Jimenez books that I've read, but I have to say that Yours Truly has captured my heart. I LOVED this book. There was something about it that I connected with so early on and the way it was written, the love, the understanding, the friendship, all of it just had me so in love with this book.

Briana Ortiz is an ER physician who is going through a divorce and is hoping to nab a promotion at work. She's still dealing with the fact that her soon-to-be ex husband cheated on her with a friend, so that made the whole thing that much worse. Not to mention, her brother Benny, has been diagnosed with end stage renal failure, so she's also dealing with that.

Jacob Maddox is also an ER physician who is starting at a new hospital and it happens to be the one that Briana works at. He's struggling with his own relationship issues, and he's also not the best at making first impressions given he struggles with anxiety. Let's just say he doesn't get off to the best start with the nurses and staff at the new hospital.

What ends up developing between Briana and Jacob starts with the trading of letters (which I adored!) and getting to know one another as friends, but it's when Jacob ends up being a kidney match for Briana's brother that things take another turn and make things really interesting. How this plays out, I'll let you read for yourself, but know it's totally worth it!

This book felt so real to me. That's one of the things that Jimenez does so well. The characters are so well developed and you feel like you know them, understand them and are feeling what they are. I was pulling for everyone in this story and I also loved that we got to visit some old friends in Alexis and Daniel. Plus, I can't wait for what is yet to come! This was a fantastic read and truly one of my favorite books I've read so far this year.

THIS BOOK. Yours Truly may be a contemporary romance but somehow it feels so magical. 🥹

I cannot even begin to describe the love I have for Jacob and Bri. I related to both of them so much and there was not one moment when I was not rooting for them. Their love for eachother is harmless and filled with unconditional support. I swear it’s the cutest, most beautiful love story.

Both of them grow SO much individually. The mental health representation in this book was superb. It breaks my heart whenever they struggle internally but they take care of eachother so well.

I am going to be revisiting this book for years to come.

I really enjoyed this book! It was a cute fake dating rom com. I loved the setting and characters in this book. I can relate to them being in the medical field and working in a hospital, so that was fun to have that be a part of the story. I will admit, the miscommunication in this book felt like it lasted forever and I started getting frustrated, like communicate your feelings already! 😅 But I really enjoyed this read and can’t wait to read more of Abby’s books!

Thank you Net Galley and Forever for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Can I give it more stars? I adore this book. Right from the beginning this story is off and running. Dr. Briana Ortiz leads the ER with ease but is coming off of the hardest year of her life. Her marriage of eleven years ends with her husband cheating with a close friend which decimates her ability to trust. On top of that her younger brother is having renal failure and desperately needs a kidney transplant. Enter new to the emergency room, Dr. Jacob Maddox. Of course there is some initial missteps but when these two become friends it is magical to behold.

Told from alternating POV’s they both are open and honest in their internal thoughts. And they are both so freaking funny. I laughed and laughed at their letters to each other. I kept pausing wanting to share a line or passage with someone. Jacob suffers from social anxiety and Briana is fabulous at understanding his introvert ways. The blurb tells it (or I wouldn’t give it away) but Jacob is a match and a willing donor for her brother. He doesn’t demand it but when she offers anything in return a fake relationship is started.

I can’t tell you how many things are laugh out loud funny in this story. I bought into their relationship hook, line and sinker. And I cried when misunderstandings and their own anxieties threaten their future together. Briana and Jacob are a little broken and both are cinnamon role characters. If you love alpha males this isn’t your book. The supporting cast is amazing. His family is a little bonkers and are a delight. Her best friend Alexis shows up in the most caring ways. This book can easily stand alone but treat yourself and read Part of Your World (April 2022) and get Alexis romance too with Briana being the supportive BF. (I gave that one five stars as well.)

This is my favorite book so far in 2023. I laughed, cried and it gave me all the feels. I love the grand gesture because it is perfect and fits the romance. And the epilogue made me so very happy. Briana and Jacob are etched into my heart and memory, as is Lieutenant Dan. I can’t recommend this book enough. Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the ARC and I’m leaving a voluntary review.

I really loved this book! It was heartfelt and I appreciated the focus on mental health. Usually I'm not one for the fake dating trope, but I really enjoyed this take!

Yours Truly - Abby Jimenez

★ ★ ★ ★ ☆

I absolutely loved Part of Your World so I was sooo excited to see this come through on my netgalley! Briana and Jacob omg🥺🥺🥺 I loved how they met, loved the letters they exchanged, and LOVED how they were such a safe space for each other. Abby Jimenez has a way of writing romances that dig a little deeper that I really appreciate. Briana’s brother is waiting for a kidney transplant. Jacob struggles with anxiety. The way they coped with what was going on in their lives and leaned on each other just felt very human. I adored it.

My only issue was that the fake dating went on wayyyy too long for my liking. I was like, “hello you two are clearly very much in love can u pls COMMUNICATE!!!” We got there though, and when we did it was glorious🥹 I love these two docs in luv, love lieutenant dan🐶, the lunch breaks in the sob closet, and again, the LETTERS (probs my favorite part).

Thank you to netgalley for the e-arc. Yours Truly is out 4/11!

Yours Truly by Abby Jiminez
Romance
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Pub Date April 11

I will start this with I Love this book!! It will definitely be one of my favorite this year!! Abby Jiminez has done it again.

This is the story of Dr Briana Ortiz who is going through a divorce living back in her childhood home, while also trying to find a kidney donor for her brother. Her boss is retiring and the promotion is hers or so she thinks until he brings in a new doctor so she has someone to run against. Dr Jacob Maddox who is already coming off as unlikeable to the staff and Briana.

Just when Briana is ready to write him off and hate him she finds a handwritten letter from him. A really good letter that makes her realize he is actually a funny and very kind guy, who just had a bad start. They continue to write back and forth to each other and get to know each other even better.

This story ughh was so heartfelt and wonderful. Dr. Maddox has severe social anxiety, and Briana is so considerate and able to help him when he needs. She doesn’t try and fix him just be there for him. Jacob is so kind and literally may be the most perfect book boyfriend ever 😍

Please read this book, you will not regret it!

Abby Jimenez’s writing continues to be absolutely magical.

These characters have so much depth and emotions to them. I, as a reader, can see parts of myself in these characters, and I especially related to Jacob and parts of his anxiety. And I related to Briana when she felt the absolute joy of a change in someone she loves diagnosis.

This book can be read as a standalone, but is intertwined with the characters from Part of This World. It was such a treat to visit Alexis and Daniel, and their magical house.

The author has such a way of making readers laugh and cry all in the same page. The characters are memorable, and you fall in love with them, even the side characters.

Mental health is a strong component to this book, and how Jacob handles his anxiety.

If you love epistolary, forced proximity, and fake dating, definitely pick this book up.

CW for miscarriages (off page), anxiety, cheating (off page), and parent abandonment.

Thank you @readforeverpub for the #gifted eARC of YOURS TRULY!

I think this may be tied with PART OF YOUR WORLD as my favorite Abbey Jimenez book.

While this is a fake dating story, these two characters are just so tender and gentle with each other. They both acknowledge that the other person is recovering from a broken heart and repeatedly throughout the book vow to be harmless to each other.

Jacob is such a gentle and quiet soul. I absolutely adored him. He is kind and patient. And he shows up for Briana. He must be protected at all costs!

I also loved how strong Briana is. She’s a total badass. The way she stands up for Jacob and helps him manage his social anxiety without even thinking about it was just the sweetest.

Basically, you should just read this to watch these two characters fall in love. There were scenes where I was just grinning as I read.

Plus, we get a quick trip back to the magical town of Wakan.

YOURS TRULY comes out on April 11, 2023!

I’d say 4.5…I don’t know what it is about Abby Jiminez, but she creates characters that I feel so deeply invested in. I could not help but smile as I was reading the interactions between Brianna & Jacob throughout the story. I absolutely loved Jacob & felt some of his anxieties deep in my soul. While the story kept me hooked and I couldn’t put it down, I also appreciated the understanding of anxiety and how much it can affect a person and their life & relationships. I’ve said this after finishing other Abby Jiminez books, but she takes a story that feels like it could be so cheesy and really makes it more than a Hallmark love story. I truly loved Yours Truly and am thankful to NetGalley & @readforeverpub for the chance to read an advanced copy of this book.
