YOURS TRULY by Abby Jimenez

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Out April 11!

Goodness, I simply adore everything Abby Jimenez writes. We’re lucky to have her, y’all. 👏 She’s an auto buy author all day every day for me.

I’m notoriously bad for not getting to ARCs before pub day but when this one hit my kindle via @netgalley months ago (thanks @readforeverpub!) I couldn’t start it fast enough. She has a way of sucking me in from the get go & this was no exception.

The premise of this book is just too cute for words (swipe for synopsis!) & Jimenez delivers with her usual - lovable characters and a well done mix of funny/serious moments and cute banter. I love how Bri & Jacob’s relationship came together very organically and they got to know each other slowly, starting as friends (well, enemies first 🥴) before anything else. The build up was perfect & the chemistry was palpable. Anyone else a big friends to lovers fan?

Jacob’s family was adorable and so lovable (adopt me plz) & I loved Bri’s relationship with her brother and her protective nature. I really enjoyed the crossover of characters from PART OF YOUR WORLD & getting more of the friendship between Bri & Alexis and also appreciated the hospital setting & so much talk of women in STEM.

There are a few tropes in this one (triggers below!) that I don’t care for and while they didn’t add a ton to the story, they didn’t detract enough for me to dock a star either.

Triggers: Miscarriage, infidelity, unplanned pregnancy, anxiety, panic attacks

If you need the perfect romcom, look no further! Such a good book! It releases next month and I was lucky enough to get an ARC of it. 😁 She has the most perfect characters and the one liners and dialogue is hilarious! Every time I read a book of hers, I say it’s my new favorite. I don’t reread many books, but I would reread all of hers. #abbyjimenez #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #tbrcart

Abby Jimenez knocks it out of the park, again! Abby’s writing is superb. Her characters are believable and likeable (or not likeable given the circumstances). I love how Abby writes about real world issues, like social anxiety, divorce, cheating, trauma, organ donation etc. (and that’s just this book) and it feels so real. Abby is in a league of her own and she is crushing it!
Yours Truly follows Dr. Briana Ortiz who we meet in Part of Your World, but you don’t need to read that to understand this story. It’ll help for background characters but isn’t entirely necessary. Dr. Briana Ortiz and Dr. Jacob Maddox are both ER doctors. Jacob struggles with social anxiety but also some serious family drama. He is desperately in need of a girlfriend to get his family off his back, and has also agreed to give Briana’s brother a kidney. Cue the fake dating trope. I absolutely loved Briana and Jacob’s relationship and how they both accepted each other for who they were. This story is unique, will have you laughing out loud, crying, and swooning.
This was an instant favorite for me and left me in a book hangout for several days. I didn’t want to read anything except this again, for the first time.
Highly recommend if you’ve enjoyed Abby’s other novels, like fake-dating tropes, or enjoy contemporary romances like Colleen Hoover.

I love Abby Jimenez books and this did not disappoint. In fact, I think this is one of my favorites from her – how does she keep getting better and better? I really like this series with the hospital staff and their love stories. I hope that she will continue this track if possible.

This is one of the best books I've ever read. I laughed out loud and cried within the same chapter, multiple times. The representation of anxiety in Jacob was SO real, and as someone who suffers from very similar anxiety, it was great to see. And the fact that he found someone who loved him for all of it, and not despite it, was amazing. I think this is a must read for anyone who has anxiety, or loves someone with anxiety. Benny's storyline was amazing as well. I have no negative reviews on it at all. It is getting ALL of the stars from me! This was the first Abby Jimenez book I read, and I immediately dug into her backlist right after! I'm a HUGE fan!

Five stars is not enough. This book is everything. I cried, I laughed, literally all the feels.

I didn’t think it was possible that this would be better than Part of Your World, but I was wrong. BOTH five star books but I truly enjoyed this book soooo much.

Reading about Jacob and his anxiety struggles and how Briana was so selfless while helping him overcome his panic attacks was everything for me. My husband is diagnosed with anxiety and to see Jacobs POV was so important for me. Life changing maybe.

I can’t even stress enough how amazing this book is. I’m basically speechless to be honest. EVERYONE should read this.

My review can be succinctly explained by just saying Jacob.

He is a dream. He is a precious blessing who must be protected. He can pop my air mattress and share a bed with me any day.

If it's not clear, this is such a good read and perhaps my favorite Abby Jimenez novel yet. She just always gets it right!

• absolutely loved the letter aspect
• the chemistry between Briana and Jacob was was written to perfection
• loved the connection to Alexis and Daniel from Part of Your World (one of my favorite books of 2022)
• I so appreciated the Author’s Note where Jimenez states that she spoke to a number of ER doctors and did very thorough research to ensure that her portrayal of life as an ER doctor and living with anxiety was done with as much accuracy as possible

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is probably my favorite book since The Friend Zone. And this is saying something because I LOVED The Friend Zone and none of her other books really compared (although Part of Your World) came close.

So I do this thing sometimes where when I can't read fast enough so I just start skimming so I can read it faster. And I did that with this book till after one in the morning when I have a 1 year old baby and work full time. I do not have time to do this! But I couldn't help it because Briana and Jacob were everything.

First of all, Jacob is the most cinnamon roll hero ever. He is a precious bean and needs to be protected at all costs!! And he ADORES Briana and it's so sweet to see. Also the anxiety rep for him was so good and I thought the was done really well. I really liked Briana in Part of Your World, so I was excited about her book. I loved how defensive she is of her brother and of Jacob. Just of how fiercely loyal and loving she is.

I loved the fake dating between them. This was a SLOW BURN. But the tension and pining and angst really worked for me.

I didn't love the 3rd act breakup for this one. I felt the reasoning was understandable but also unexpected. I wish I had more hints of it throughout. (unless I missed it?). But I still loved them and how it resolved. And this included my LEAST favorite trope ever and I didn't hate it for once. Seriously only Abby could pull it off for me.

Overall, I loved this couple and loved watching them come together as a couple. I laughed, I cried. All the stars.

I binged this book in 4 days, which is fast for me! I was immediately sucked in and entertained the entire time. The letter writing was sweet and fun, and the slow burn made the chemistry feel that much stronger! Jacob was so thoughtful and Brianna understood him so well. Together they were pretty funny! I did get a little frustrated with all the assumptions Brianna and Jacob were constantly making instead of communicating, which is why this got 4 stars instead of 5. But overall, loved the book!

This book had solid mental health representation! I really loved the concept of high vs low energy people, and how much an individual's personality can be more draining than others. The last 10sih% of the book got really intense when I wasn't expecting it but the HEA did wrap things up nicely. Yours Truly is now one of my favorites by Abby!

Review will be shared on Instagram closer to release date.

I am becoming a big fan of Abby Jimenez! In this follow up to Part of Your World (one of my favorite romances ever), we follow Briana and Jacob, two doctors who get off to a rough start but ultimately end up fake dating. Throughout their "relationship," both are navigating personal and family issues.

If you like tropes, this one has them all. Fake dating, enemies to lovers, only one bed - you name it. I also loved that the magical realism came back for a bit when the story returned to Wakan, where Part of Your World took place.

The characters were such a great part of this book. Jimenez definitely knows how to write a badass woman and perfect book boyfriend, and it is impossible not to fall in love with Jacob and Briana and their relationship while reading.

This one was definitely a slow burn, but I thought it worked to get to know the characters better as they interacted within their fake romance. At times, the miscommunication was frustrating and I can see why some other reviewers didn't enjoy that aspect. For me, it kept me hooked and pushing through to get to the happy ending.

One of my favorite things about Jimenez is her ability to seamlessly weave heavier topics into her romances. For instance, Jacob struggles with social anxiety. Reading about his experiences and how he perceives situations that I don't think twice about was eye-opening. There are a few other content warnings that Jimenez details over on Goodreads.

So, I highly recommend pre-ordering this book which comes out on April 11, especially if you read and loved Part of Your World! Thank you Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for a review!

When I tell you I LOVEDDDD every flippin second of this wonderful book. Oh my heart.

BERNESE BABY on the cover! He is a precious Angel. I was obsessed. His name is the best, I won’t spoil it. The way that he’s so intune with Jacob, just melts my heart. Ah, sigh, hugs book to chest.

Jacob, sweet, sweet Jacob. Briana describes him as all of the cozy things in life that you love to sigh comfortably into. Rain on the roof, a warm bath, the best hug, this man is THAT. He has the softest, kindest heart that just sometimes brought tears to my eyes because he was judged so horribly for having debilitating anxiety at times. And Abby, the way in which you perfectly portrayed this in the kindest way, hats off to you.

Briana, this spit fire with a heart of gold who’s just trying to dig herself out of all of the trauma of her childhood and history with shitty men. Wanting to dive in deep with a wonderful man but not being able to trust because she’s been hurt so deeply. She is fiercely loyal and protective and such a wonderful human. I wanted to hug her so many times.

I don’t know how many times I went from busting out laughing to actual tears on my cheeks but I got lost in this book and ate it write up. I also loved all of the little eggs woven in from previously books. My heart is so full after this one.

AHHH!!😍🥹

Yours Truly
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If I could give it more stars, I would. I loved it that much.

I may also be a little biased as the FMC is Salvadoreña. I don’t think I’ve read a book with a Salvadoran FMC. And it made my Salvadoran heart so happy.

Brianna has been left by several men in her life and she’s vowed to never get married again or let her heart belong to another man. That is until handsome and caring Jacob walks in her life. Told in alternating POVs we witness Them fall for each other never knowing the other has fallen. I loved the aspect of hand written letters to each other as they get to know each other. It took me back to the 90’s.

Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this ebook in exchange of an honest review

I enjoyed this book but it wasn’t her best. Jacob and Brianna were great characters. I truly loved how sweet, kind and misunderstood he is because of his social anxiety. I loved how the author had him dealing with it in productive ways like journaling, therapy and a plant/calm room. For the first half of the book it wa amazing seeing the author do a true portrayal of anxiety and what that entails not just for the person but also those so runs then. Brianna was feisty, fun and the way she took care of her brother because of an absent mother was heartwarming and so relatable. I loved the letters they’re changed and would have loved even more of them! This book reminded me a lot of Playlist in that it touches on the hard topics while working towards vulnerability and healing.

The reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is because Jacob’s anxiety basically disappears after he and Bri kind of get together and that was really disappointing. A person doesn’t just do a 180 because they get a girlfriend, doesn’t work like that. Can he feel calm and less anxiety yes but to just meet a stranger and no longer have anxiety if they’re around is just unbelievable. Also this was a slow slow slow burn to the point I almost wouldn’t even call it a romance. We get one cut off sex scene and that’s it and it’s almost 90% through the book. No thanks! That and all the miscommunication leads a weird side to their “romance” that was unnecessary.

Overall though I did enjoy the book and will of course read more from this author. The first half of the book was truly spectacular and I wish it had carried over through to the second.

I want to give this book 10 stars! ALL THE STARS. I just finished Yours Truly two minutes ago and I'm still crying. This is Abby's best book yet, which is saying a lot because they are all amazing. So this one: Briana and Jacob's love story is the softest, sweetest, most adorable, slow-burn, pining romance I've ever read. The lack of communication trope works so well in this book because Abby is pure genius. On top of breaking my heart and putting it back together again, I laughed SO HARD. She is one of the funniest authors out there. The hype for this one is real, people. I don't think I need to tell anyone to read this one since she's a New York Times bestselling author but just in case my recommendation means anything: READ IT.

This was such a cute love story! Jacob and Briana are both doctors and both a little unlucky in love and don’t want to get in a new relationship. Through writing letters and some fake dating they start to develop complicated feelings. I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I was rooting for Jacob and Briana the entire book.

**honest review pasted from goodreads**

okay i was bawling during the last few chapters. both happy and sad tears from me omg.

jacob is the sweetest man EVER. he had me kicking my feet and giggling he was so sweet with briana, especially when she really needed him.

jacob struggles with anxiety and you really saw it in this book. but that made this book that much more relatable and comforting for me. this book felt like a warm hug. it was a comfort to come home and read this book knowing i could relate to jacob.

also the added plots to this book really gave it more fluff, i loved that there was more to it than just the romance

fake dating is one of my favorite tropes and while it’s been done a lot i’ve never read one where they weren’t enemies or grumpy sunshine. these two mutually agreed and became friends so quickly and developed a deep and pure love for one another. i really enjoyed it!!

also please can we talk about how they wrote letters back and forward to each other!? that had my heart going pitter patter, it was so cute.

okay, that’s all from me now, but i 10000% recommend this book if your looking for a fake dating romance with a super cinnamon roll male main character and a protective female main character ;)

Abby Jimenez has truly turned into one of my favorite authors…every book she writes is just too good. I was super fortunate to have received an ARC of Yours Truly, and as all of her other books, truly adored it.

The banter, the characters, the fake dating trope, the ending. It was all perfection, literally per-fect-ion. Jacob will instantly turn into one of the best book friends that exist…but I honestly think I have said that about EVERY male MC in Abby’s books 🤷🏻‍♀️

I adored how well written this book was when it came to some of the heavy topics that were covered…anxiety, depression, kidney disease, cheating, divorce. This was also all called out in the beginning of the book. And as always, Abby’s author notes are always a must read because they explain the reason behind the topics included in this book, and this was very close to home for her.

4.5⭐️

“We’re all a little broken. We are a mosaic. We’re made up of all those we’ve met and all the things we’ve been through. There are parts of us that are colorful and dark and jagged and beautiful. And I love every piece of you. Even the ones you wish didn’t exist.” 🥹

Grappling with a recent divorce and a sick brother, Dr. Briana Ortiz is struggling. She expects to be passed up for a promotion in favor of a new (male) doctor, Jacob Maddox, she detests but is surprised when he starts sending her letters. And Jacob is struggling too: with anxiety, with his new job, and with his overbearing family. Oh, and his ex getting ready to marry his brother. But when he finds out Briana's brother is in need of a kidney transplant, he's more than willing to help.

This new novel by rom-com favorite Abby Jimenez is a must-read. It's a carry-over from Part of Your World, but it certainly stands alone.
