Hands down one of the best books I have read. This was so well written and the characters were so deeply relatable. The blurb doesn't do the beauty of this book justice. I couldn't wait to read this book because of Briana, but Jacob made this book even better than I could have dreamed. I have friends that have troubled relationships and I always preach about transparency. This man was 100% transparent and what we should all strive for in a relationship. Eveyone has flaws and imperfections, but they shouldn't define us, they should be there and be loved just like the rest of us is. The trick is to finding someone who loves all of your flaws and shows up for you. They don't want to change you or resent you for being you, they just want to love you in the ways you need loved.
Both Jacob and Briana were such mature characters, yes there were miscommunications and most of them stemmed from fear of rejection, which was completely understandable considering their pasts. I loved that they weren't young and they were learning more about themselves while together and helping one another grow.
Again, if I can convince you to read ONE book in 2023, it is this one.
Thank you to Netgalley, Forever, and Abby Jimenez for an early copy.

I have enjoyed most of Abby’s books and this was no different (until we got to the 75% mark). This one starts off hot and amazing. I loved the character dynamics and the letter writing is cute!

I ADORE Jacob with a passion. I really enjoy seeing men written about in more vulnerable ways. Bri on the other hand was a disaster. The last 25% of this book with Bri made me want to DNF. She was annoying, whiny and flippant. Oh also, no spoilers, but I didn’t appreciate the tropes used in this one during the end.

I am left feeling in love with Jacob and the first half of the book, but disappointed at everything else.

3.5/5

This was one of those books that I am still thinking about even though it’s been almost a week since I finished it. Once again, Abby’s writing is flawless and the characters are people you wish you were friends with so you could be a part of their story. This is definitely a book established fans of the author won’t want to miss and new readers will be eager to go back and read her previous work!
Many thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

After reading Part of Your World by Jimenez, I knew I had to get my hands on Yours Truly (which is set in same universe with character and setting overlap.) I was thankful to receive an ARC in exchange for a review.

Yours Truly was a book I couldn't put down. I tore through it quickly and felt the emotions straight to my gut. As someone with social anxiety and sensory issues, I saw myself in Jacob many times, and it wasn't representation I often see in books. I also loved feeling Briana's commitment issues so deeply and they came across so well. The characters in this story, even the secondary characters, had so much depth and I felt I got to know them so well. This was a book I was hooked on immediately and it carried through until the very end. This is a plot that does not become fully resolved until the very end, which made me wanting more, but that also shows how fantastic of a book it is.

I am also skeptical when I pick up this genre because it can feel so cheesy and cliche easy, but this book's plot defied that. This book hasn't even been released to the public yet and I'm already craving another book by the author. 5 stars.

I really, really loved this book.

I knew I liked Bri from the book Part of Your World, but JACOB. We must protect him at all cost.

I actually found myself relating to Jacob more. Jacob has anxiety, and I saw myself in him. It actually allowed me to give myself more grace viewing my thoughts through a fictional character.

At times, I wanted to shake Bri. Obviously, Jacob loves you, but I also understood that her past heavily influenced her viewpoint. Also, both characters were surrounded by good friends who spoke the truth to them.

4/5 of Abby Jimenez’s books have been 5 stars for me. I plan to re-read the one that was not because maybe I was just not in the right place to read it? Idk. But Jimenez is an auto buy author. I’ll read anything she writes.

Thank you to Netgalley for a free copy of this book!

Thank you to Grand Central Publishing & Abby Jimenez for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

YES! YES! YES! This book was everything I needed and so much more! First of all, I’m a huge Jimenez fan. Her romcom’s are my favorite! Yours Truly was such a great combination of love, humor & bravery. Briana and Jacob are my fave! My thoughts on the MC’s: Briana needed to stop being so dang difficult. Jacob had the patience of a saint. I related to Jacob a lot with having anxiety.

I am a fan of short chapters, and some of the chapters were a little long for me. Even though this book is on the bigger side for me, I finished it a lot faster than I thought!

I think the one thing that bothered me the most was the miscommunication trope. I hate miscommunication, so this part rubbed me the wrong way. I caught myself yelling at the book-“just talk about it!”. Overall, everyone needs to read this!!

My second Abby Jimenez book was definitely a success! Yours Truly is such a heartfelt story filled with so many emotions.

Briana and Jacob have such a great love story because they are complete opposites in a way that complement each other perfectly. Both have reasons not to trust again when it comes to relationships, but they approach each other in such an authentic way. The phrase, "I'm harmless to you" has become a top-tier version of "I love you."

The mental health representation was incredible, Jacob's anxiety felt very genuine and came from a great place. I could relate so much to a lot of Jacob's struggles and it was so well crafted throughout the novel. Similarly, Briana has her struggles and, although I couldn't relate on a personal level, they were well written and felt real enough to connect me to her character.

My one big criticism of this book is the heavy lifting from the miscommunication trope. The last third of the book heavily relies on this trope to keep the reader engaged, and it first it felt realistic because of Jacob's anxiety, but then it got me thinking about both MCs emotional growths and how unrealistic this actually was. Both MCs are in their early 30s and have histories of relationship issues, but show signs of growth throughout the novel. This comes to a halt in the third act when miscommunication becomes the star and it was frustrating because these characters didn't need it, they already showed so much emotional growth so it felt out of pocket and affected the overall narrative.

Although fake dating is an overused trope (one I refuse to tire of), Jimenez approaches it differently where both characters are so aware of why the other person needs to be involved. I loved the communication between them in the first third of the novel because it showed how much they trusted each other. This is one of the few that did a great job with fake dating by putting a small twist on it.

Read if you like:

fake dating
workplace romance

top tier confessions

Thank you NetGalley and Forever for this ARC.

I will always be a fan of Abby Jimenez. I love how each of her books has a piece of her in it. I think that’s what makes her characters so believable and easy to love. I always appreciate how delicately Abby handles heavy issues. This book does include depression, pregnancy loss, anxiety, and chronic kidney disease - just as a heads up.

Briana is dealing with a lot; her brother is in kidney failure and they cannot find a match for him, her divorce from her cheating ex-husband is days from being finalized, and now the promotion Bri has been working so hard for might be given to this new doctor.

On Jacob’s first day at his new job, he loses all of his patients earning him the nickname, Dr. Death, from his nurses. It doesn’t help that his social anxiety makes it uncomfortable for Jacob to interact with his new coworkers who all hate him now.

Briana and Jacob do not get off to a good start. With Jacob’s anxiety, an in person apology makes it tough to find the correct words. So Jacob writes an apology letter to Bri which begins a sweet little pen pal relationship. They have incredible chemistry from the start and I loved how their relationship grew as they both learned to open up to each other.

Also, in true Abby fashion, there’s an adorable dog, Lieutenant Dan.

There were times in this story when I wanted to reach into the pages and shake both Bri and Jacob because they were being so stupid! But I’m a sucker for a fake dating trope. I know where it’s leading, I know I’m going to get frustrated with the characters, but I love them anyway!

I’ll never be able to recommend Abby Jimenez’s books enough. You will love her characters. You will cheer for them, cry for them, and never want their stories to end.

Thank you to Netgalley and Forever for my gifted copy.

Abby has done it again! I think she may actually be my favorite romance author. Until now, my favorite book by her had been Happy Ever After Playlist but Yours Truly takes the cake. This book made kept me up at night- literally. I could not put it down. I was drawn to Jacob and Brianna's relationship from the very beginning. Enemies to lovers is my favorite troupe and they were only enemies for a brief moment in time but I still loved their inception.

Jacob comes to work at Brianna's hospital and Bri thinks he's eyeing the promotion she's been after. Jacob wants to set the record straight but because of his social anxiety, and Bri's beauty, he can't explain face to face so he starts writing her letters. They slowly build a friendship and eventually, Jacob asks Brianna to pretend to be his girlfriend up until the wedding of his brother and his ex (yikes).

Jacob is truly an angel on earth. He treats everyone he meets with so much kindness and respect. He even gives his kidney to Brianna's younger brother, Benny, before they form any sort of friendship. I find most female leads in romance novels insufferable but I ADORED Brianna. I actually started crying reading her describe her fear of falling in love and her partner potentially leaving again. My heart broke for her.

I don't know how another book can top this in 2023!

I’ve never met a Abby Jimenez book I didn’t love 🥹 she’s TRULY (get it😉) one of my all-time favorite authors!!

I adored Bri and I ADORED Jacob. The way they showed up for each other over and over again?! My heart is mush.

There are tropes used in this book that’ll make it not for everyone and had even me sometimes wanting to yell at both our MCs but I still loved it!!

✨fake dating
✨anxiety representation
✨dual POVs
✨love letters
✨a million quotes highlighted
✨HARMLESS (IYKYK)

Thank you Abby and Forever for the ARC of Yours Truly!

I truly LOVED this book! I recently discovered Abby and I think she’s a one-click author for me now. ❤️ This book was absolutely beautiful. A bit slow in the upfront, but it definitely picked up. I don’t experience anxiety, but I appreciated that it was the male main character that struggled with it in this instance. Bri and Jacob were perfection together.

More detailed and thoughtful review to come on Goodreads and TikTok. Thank you!

I have loved all of Abby Jimenez's books but I swear they just keep getting better and better. Check TW listed below before reading!

Yours Truly is a romance between two ER doctors who get off on the wrong foot. Since Jacob has severe social anxiety, he decides to send Briana a letter apologizing for his behavior. The two begin first sending letters, then texts and calls as they slowly learn more about each other. Briana is funny and fiery and fiercely loyal to those she cares about. Jacob is so lovable and sincere and caring and patient and I am obsessed with these two together. I will be telling literally everyone I know to go get this on pub day! It is the slowest of slow burns but so worth it!

Thanks so much to Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

“Love shows up.”

Welp, this book absolutely had me sobbing like a baby. Once again Abby has managed to put me through the emotional ringer. I always go in mentally prepared now because I just know she’s going to tug at my heartstrings every single time. Jacob is a national treasure. There, I said it. He is absolutely too pure for this world and we need to protect him at all costs. Between the letters and just all the small gestures I was an absolute mess. The best kind of tears happen when I get worked up over something absolutely freaking adorable if we’re being honest. Poor Briana is just stuck in this cycle of people leaving her when she needs them and Jacob thinks he’s not worth it. Did I mention this story turns into a total fake dating disaster? I truly believe this is some of Abby’s best work to date and I look forward to future emotional workouts. Of course, there were the classic Easter eggs throughout and there is crossover from Part of Your World so if you haven’t met them yet I definitely recommend!

Abby Jimenez has been one of my go-to authors for great rom-coms with really wonderfully constructed stories and strong characters since her debut. Yours Truly will appeal to all her fans and win her more, truly!

Loved this book! It was so great and heart warming. I think this is my favorite book of hers. The character development was perfect.

This was one f my most highly anticipated books of the year and it met my expectations. Abby Jimenez is an expert at creating love stories that contain both humor and heaviness.

Briana is an ER doctor whose life is pretty rough at the moment. She is struggling to process her divorce and deal with her brother's illness. Then comes Jacob, another ER doctor who transferred from another hospital for a fresh start. He is immediately smitten with Bri, while she thinks he's a jerk. Then slowly they get to know each other and he asks for a favor she can't refuse.

I love fake dating and it's done here perfectly. There's so much chemistry and tension between the two characters, it was a joy watching them fall for each other.

Anxiety is represented really well. I suffer from it also and genuinely connected with Jacob and his limitations. I understand how hard it can be dating as a person with anxiety and it takes a lot to be able to share your full self with another person. He did it beautifully.

This book works well as a stand alone but it's connected to Part of Your World, which is excellent too and it reading that one first makes this one a little richer.

I really enjoyed reading this book! I loved the characters and and the writing. I felt like I was watching a movie, I could visualize it perfectly!

The reason why I didn’t get five stars, I was because of the overused fake dating plot. I think the author did a great job with it, but it does feel overused. Otherwise, excellent book for this genre.

Every once in awhile a book comes along that truly captures your heart and that was this one. I don’t know how she does it, but Abby’s books get better with every single one she writes. 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲'𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗼 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 still has a big hold on my heart though.

You know it’s going to be a good book when you find yourself 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 within the first 10%. Abby knows how to write the most beautiful contemporary romances with some big themes. She definitely still sprinkles the humor in there, but she’s not afraid to write about characters that have either been through or are dealing with some heavy stuff.

This book was a 𝙟𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮. It was a journey about two broken people who meet and get off on the wrong foot, form a beautiful friendship, and slowly fall in love in the process. I don’t want to give anything away, but the way these two initially become friends might be one of the 𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩 things I have ever read about in a book. Abby had me tearing up and I couldn’t stop 𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 from ear to ear.

𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮 and 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗯 have become a new favorite book couple. This is a dual point of view romance which allows us get inside the head of both characters and I’m all here for that. Jacob might be one of my favorite heroes 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧. His character is beyond selfless, he was so intriguing to me and I just wanted to jump through the page and give him a giant 𝙝𝙪𝙜 and tell him everything would be okay. Briana is fierce, but has been through so much. The way that she understands and takes care of Jacob, though, was beautiful. These two have been through a lot individually, and their lack of confidence in themselves given their pasts made them very relatable.

This book can be read as a stand-alone, but I do highly encourage you to read 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 prior to reading this one if you haven’t. The characters from that book make several appearances.

I do have one minor complaint, but not enough for me to change my rating. This book is 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙤𝙤𝙣𝙜 at 416 pages, which is long for a romance. I do feel it could’ve been 100 pages shorter if the characters had simply talked to one another, but I guess that’s part of the fun.

Make sure you definitely pick this one up when it comes out on 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 11th!! You don’t want to miss it. I have already pre-ordered my physical copy.

⚠️𝘾𝙒: this is an open door romance and there is language. Anxiety, cheating and organ donation are big themes throughout the book. There are some other heavy themes that could be triggering, so if you are curious then please message me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever Pub for an advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

★Be sure and read the author’s note at the end.

I already knew I loved Abby Jimenez as an author, but this book amplified that by 100. The male lead has anxiety, and I related so much that the story came so alive in my head. I devoured every single page and kept thinking to myself, “that’s me in a nutshell”. The author did so well with depicting a relationship through the eyes of someone with anxiety. So well written, I enjoyed each page.

Abby Jimenez simply never fails to deliver. I absolutely loved this story for a multitude of reasons, but particularly the character development. As someone with anxiety, I also enjoyed seeing that be represented so accurately! Highly recommend, but especially if you’ve enjoyed any of her other books.
