Yet another Abby romance that I could not put down, and after reading Alexis’ story in Part of Your World, I was so excited to read Bri’s story (Alexis’ best friend). Bri is a recently divorced ER doctor whose brother is suffering kidney failure. Jacob Maddox, is Bri’s new ER doctor co-worker also recovering from a traumatizing breakup and suffers from anxiety. This is an enemies-to-friends-to-lovers and fake-dating romance— some of my favorite tropes!

Abby has quickly become one of my favorite romance authors ever and I swear— her books get better and better, and this is no exception. She has such a brilliant way of writing beautiful characters that feel relatable and real— entertwining delicate topics like chronic illness, depression and anxiety, that she handles with complete care. Her characters are funny, full of life and have chemistry— Abby writes the most incredibly witty banter that is LOL funny. I love that she writes strong women, and thoughtful, caring men. She even brings secondary characters to life, giving them purpose within the book, in a way that is memorable.

My only minor complaint is that I don’t love the miscommunication trope, and felt like it went on a touch too long in the second half of the book. I wanted more time with them together! However, this book still felt like all of Abby’s do- like a warm hug.

SO grateful to Netgalley, they publisher and Abby for letting me an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review! I can’t wait to see what Abby writes next.

4.5/5 Stars!

This book was such a heartfelt wonderful time! My heart hurt for these characters but then I felt so much joy for them at the end. Abby did such a beautiful job writing this book!

Jacob was such a magnificent man that I wanted to cry! Even through his social anxiety, he was still such a loving, caring man who wanted to take care of the people around him. As someone who deals with anxiety, I saw myself in him and it was such a treat to see Briana fall in love with him exactly as he was. He is now one of my favorite book boyfriends and I want to protect him at all costs!

Briana was such an achingly beautiful character and I loved her to bits! I adored that right away she wanted to protect Jacob! I got frustrated when she couldn't see how obsessed Jacob was with her. But I couldn't be mad at how much angst that did bring to the book.

I adore the fake dating trope and this was top-tier! My heart hurt so much throughout this book watching these two characters constantly almost telling each other their feelings but deciding not to multiple times! God, it hurt so bad but kept me turning page after page! This book made me believe there is a "perfect match" for everyone.

I love love LOVED this book. We must protect Jacob at all costs. I had no idea that it was part of the PArt of Your World universe (I haven't read Part of Your World yet) but now I'm pleasantly surprised that I get to read more about Wakan and Kevin Bacon in that novel.
Jimenez did a beautiful job representing chronic illness, anxiety and trauma. I loved the intricacies of these characters and miss them already.

I don’t know how Abby Jimenez writes straight to my heart every single time. This one was so special. I honestly didn’t know much about kidney issues or donation and I really felt like I learned so much. The authors note at the end really impacted me as well.

Reading a man with anxiety and little quirks that his partner listens to, it just was so so special. And the letters at the beginning were some of my favorite.

Abby is always an automatic buy for me and she
Always will be.

This is now my favorite Abby Jimenez book! Love, love loved it! Briana's internal dialogue was hysterically funny, and I adored Jacob's vulnerability. Together they were magic! This will be a re-read for me for sure! Highly recommended!

I was SO pleasantly surprised to receive an ARC on NetGalley!

After obsessing over Part of Your World, I did not think it could get any better with Bri’s book but oh how I was so wrong. I may have actually liked this one more?? Ah who cares, at this point Abby Jimenez could scribble on a napkin and I’d preorder it. Speaking of- I immediately ran to preorder my copy of Yours Truly after finishing it.

Bri and Jacob’s story just felt so sweet and like a breath of fresh air. There were definitely some heavier topics throughout, which Abby gives a disclaimer for in the beginning, however I appreciated how it was worked into the story without it being a 400 page trauma dump.

Not only was this story sweet af, but it had me CACKLING throughout. Perhaps controversial take, but maybe Jafar is my fav character??? The humor was right up my alley. Anyways, this book is now my entire personality and this will now be my comfort re-read for the foreseeable future.

This was trying so hard to be funny/cute/sweet but it really just came across as kind of cringe. Not for me, so sorry. If you cant get enough of cute little romcom books maybe try this one out?

"Wouldn't it be amazing to live like that? To not carry that burden around with you. To not feel constantly overwhelmed and overstimulated and second-guess everything little thing.."

What a fun read Yours Truly was! Per usual, I adored the characters that Jimenez created. Bri and Jacob were relatable, pure, hilarious characters, and their chemistry was palpable throughout the book. I loved their banter and what they each brought to the relationship. It was so much fun to watch the progression of their relationship.

But, besides the characters, Abby Jimenez does an outstanding job of portraying real-life struggles respectfully and accurately. I saw so much of my anxious self in Jacob's character. His struggles as he tried to overcome his anxiety-driven internal monologue felt natural, as I have repeatedly struggled to overcome the same feelings.

As much as I enjoyed Bri and Jacob's relationship, the hilarious antics, and the genuine struggles of each character - it pains me to give this book less than five stars. But unfortunately, I had a few issues with the book.

There is one particular trope that showed up around the halfway point of Yours Truly, and it is my absolute least favorite, and it bothers me a lot when authors use it. I don't want to give anything away, but adding that storyline did nothing for me. I felt like I'd finally gotten over it, but the miscommunication trope started to rear its ugly head when I had 20% left of the book. It became such a dominant part of the story that I couldn't help but dislike Bri. Adding these tropes to the book put such a sour taste in my mouth, and I wish I could've gotten over it but oh well! I can't love all of Jimenez's books, can I?

🥰 Swoon-worthy moments
👩🏽‍⚕️ Women in STEAM
😂 Several hilarious laugh-out-loud moments
😡 The two worst trope additions IMO
🧠 Accurate portrayal of mental health
❤️‍🔥 Less spicy - more mental foreplay
📖 Reappearance of characters from Part of Your World

❌❌- Cheating, parental abandonment, miscarriage, severe anxiety

I recommend reading Yours Truly if you enjoy Abby Jimenez's writing and don't mind a little miscommunication trope 😘

What is the one trope that gets under your skin the most?

I really want to love Abby Jimenez books, because for the most part they are well written and emotional. However, I have learned things about the author that I cannot stand behind, and I can no longer recommend Abby Jimenez, nor will I read any further books.

Abby Jimenez! Will you be my best friend…PLEASE?!? Ok, ok…..I’m fan girling and instead I’ll just thank you for sending me these delicious characters in your place.

Dr. Briana Ortiz, a beloved ER physician has a literal run-in in the hospital hallway with Dr. Jacob Maddox, the newest and very handsome ER doctor, who she views as the enemy also vying for the ER head position. That is until he sends her a note triggering a flurry of letter exchanges which quickly changes her mind about first impressions. What ensues is a delicious “fake relationship” after Jacob makes a life changing decision impacting Brianna’s family and she in turn wants to help him during a challenging situation.

A swoon worthy rom-com with lovable characters dealing with several family and personal struggles. The comedic dialogue between our two protagonists will make you wish they really were your best friends.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for this enjoyable ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Abby Jimenez is the queen of romance/women's fiction and no one will ever change my mind! I absolutely LOVED and ADORED Yours Truly! It made me feel so many emotions, I could barely keep up! I loved watching the friendship between Briana and Jacob bloom into something beautiful and perfect for them. Getting to read about Briana learning to trust again and to deal with her trauma was heartbreaking, but inspiring. Getting to read about Jacob's struggle with social anxiety and how he learns to open himself up some was wonderful. I cannot say enough good about this book, and I really wish it could have gone on for another 300 pages!

Abby Jiminez does it again! I was so excited for Bri's story after A Part of Your World, and it did not disappoint!

This book was fun, but also focused on the hard stuff. Briana's trauma and Jacob's anxiety were a great addition to the story, and I felt for both of them. Seeing them grow and change over the progression of the book was beautiful. The characters made the entire book so enjoyable!

This story made me laugh (Lieutenant Dan is the new Kevin Bacon...iykyk), pulled at my heart strings and allowed me to understand a side of social anxiety that I didn't know before.

My favorite part of Bri and Jacob's story were their letters in the beginning. I would definitely recommend this book-but be warned-you will be craving a red velvet cupcake.

Read if you like:

-fake dating
-cinnamon roll male MC

TW: pregnancy lost, anxiety, depression, chronic kidney disease, infidelity

Abby Jimenez's writing and storytelling just keeps getting better and better with every new release. When I finished Part Of Your World, I was convinced she couldn't possibly write something that I love more, yet here we are with Yours Truly!

Yours Truly was one of the sweetest novels I've ever read. Based on other reviews I've read, I think everyone's biggest takeaway from this book, and certainly my own, is the way Jimenez wrote and portrayed how Jacob suffers and copes with his anxiety disorder. Oh, the way my heart swooooooned at how Briana was such a strong support system for him, fake dating or not.

Speaking of fake-dating, there are quite a few tropes within the pages of this book, but the fake-dating trope was at the heart of the novel. For a trope that can feel overdone and complete unoriginal, I really appreciated the direct Jimenez took with it. It took me months to sit down and being to write a review of this book because I was in denial the story was over. I'm already looking forward to re-reading this book when it releases on April 11th!

I think I have a new favourite Abby Jimenez book...

To me, all of her books have been solid, but none have been rated a 5 star read to me. I think Yours Truly breaks this streak.

Dr. Briana Ortiz (who we previous met as Alexis's friend in Part of Your World) is going through a major rough patch. Her divorce is nearly finalized and online dating is terrible, her boss has decided to delay retirement (and her expected promotion) for two months, and her brother's kidney disease and mental health is only getting worse. To top it off, the new doctor in the emergency department may be Satan.

Or not...quickly Briana learns how wrong she was about Jacob and they become pen pals, before sharing lunch in Briana's "sob closet". After becoming friends Jacob reluctantly asks her to help him out with his family by posing as his girlfriend for a few months to get through his brother's wedding - to his ex.

So yes, it's trope heavy, but when rating romance novels I try not to focus on how overplayed a certain trope is in the genre, I go based on if it annoys me. And this one didn't annoy me. I found the characters all endearing (well Jacob especially) and I emphasized with Briana's trauma from the past. I also adore reading books where the main character isn't 22. Briana is 35, and while she's doing well career wise personally she is struggling, something I'm sure many women like me can relate to.

Anxiety is such a tricky thing to describe in books, and to get right. I think Jimenez does an admirable job in describing Jacob's anxiety disorder, by also speaking directly to his coping mechanisms. Jimenez never shies away from tricky subjects, and she does so in this novel as well. There are some trigger warnings with this one with chronic illnesses, depression, pregnancy loss, and suicide all mentioned in this book.

What a wonderful story! This had crossover characters from Part or Your World. It was fast paced and kept your attention as you fell deeply in love with ER docs Briana and Jacob. Their relationship started out as a friendship as they both needed something from the other.

I requested this pre-release copy from because I love this author so much. Every story has the most likable characters with sweet writing and this didn’t disappoint.

The book is written from dual perspectives of two doctors who are thrown into a new work situation who get off on the wrong foot, but quickly become friends. He needs a date to his brother’s wedding and she agrees to pretend to be his girlfriend. If you’re looking for a light, beach read, I’d definitely recommend.

Abby Jimenez quickly solidified her place on my bookshelf with the whip smart "Part Of Your World," so I was thrilled to read her next title. And she absolutely did not disappoint.

The gift that Jimenez has is that she truly crafts full, believable, quirky, deep characters. For this reason, her stories jump off the page at the reader from the beginning, and it sets the tone for a wonderful journey through her story, I also love how she takes the familiar "rom-com" tropes and bends them to become more interesting and true to life, so the reader is still getting what they picked the book up for, but it is being delivered in an incredibly creative way.

Brianna and Jacob, her main characters, navigate each other's personalities, matters of actual life and death, and their mental health to find their way to each other, and the result is charming and moving.;
