Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez is my favorite rom-com of the year! It had me laughing out loud and so invested in the characters, I forgot I was reading a book. Briana and Jacob are doctors who meet at a hospital on Jacob’s first day. It’s a rocky start and a rockier journey (but also sweet, funny, and heartfelt) as they find themselves and possibly each other at a moment where they are both dealing with crises in their lives. Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the ARC!

Abby Jimenez always delivers with amazing characters and great stories. Yours Truly involves two ER doctors who are not perfect people but who are perfect for each other. Jimenez always deals with real life issues, like anxiety and organ transplants, by having the characters face the problems and work through them. I really like that about her books. Brianna and Jacob take a long time to come to the understanding that they belong together but the journey made for a great, entertaining read.. The main characters and their extended families were wonderfully developed. I enjoyed this book and will recommend it. Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to review Yours Truly.

Abby Jimenez is one of the funniest writers I know, I consistently laugh at her books. Yours Truly was SO good. It's the story of Briana, an ER doctor set to become head of the department and is dealing with her brother's kidney failure, and Jacob, a recently transferred ER doctor whose brother is marrying the woman he loves. Jimenez characterized anxiety extremely well. It's a true rom-com, but it's also deep.
She writers friendships and families wonderfully, and is the master of the slow burn/enemies to friends tropes. She also always writes the best dogs.
I do think that I wish Briana and Daniel could've gotten together a little bit earlier but it didn't make a huge difference. It was a little too much "will they? Won't they?" for my taste.

Abby Jimenez books make me feel warm. They’re socks pulled freshly out of the dryer, and a sleepy kitty purring on your lap, and a cup of coffee on a winter afternoon. They are comforting and fuzzy and happy, happy, happy.
While you don’t need to have read Part of Your World to read Yours Truly, I’m very glad that I did—I loved Alexis’s feisty best friend, and I’m so glad to have the chance to see her love story.
Briana and handsome ER physician Jacob Maddox are both broken from past relationships: Briana’s ex-husband cheated on her with a friend, and Jacob’s ex-fiancée left him for his brother. When Jacob leaves his hospital and takes a job at Briana’s, they meet and launch a fake-dating plan for Jacob to prove to his family that he’s fine with his brother falling for his ex. Will two people left broken and lonely from failed romances get a chance to start something new, beautiful, and real?
Briana tugs at every single one of my heartstrings, and even some that I didn’t yet know that I had. I know what it is to be so scarred by previous relationships that it’s terrifying to open yourself up again, and sometimes easier to fight it tooth and nail to protect yourself.
I am completely in love with Jacob Maddox, and I’m grateful to Abby Jimenez for portraying his anxiety disorder in such a sensitive and realistic way. People with anxiety (like me, and SO many others) are not damaged or wrong; they simply process things in a different way and need people who understand them. Thank you, Abby, for helping me feel seen.
If you read just one romance in 2023, let it be this one. You will laugh, cry, and grin like a fool in love.

I am newer to appreciating books of the romcom genre, but I have found Abby Jiminez to be one of my favorite authors there. Nothing feels overly explained or too cliche. She balances humor, romance, and even adds in heavier topics that are relatable seemingly without effort.
Without giving too much away, the male main character deals with anxiety and I found myself emotional with being able to empathize with his every day life. The mental toll anxiety takes on a person can be overwhelming especially when introduced to people who may not know much about it or that you have it at all. It was refreshing to hear about a man's struggle with it since it is typically women who do the most vocalizing about their mental health.
In addition, the main character that is Dr. Briana Ortiz has her battles she is working through. I appreciated that both characters had depth to them and neither one was just a cheerleader for the other one. This is definitely a book I will be recommending to many.

I enjoyed this book. I love the MInnesota settings, and the family aspect of this book. However, Jacob was a bit too perfect, and so much of their conflict was tied up in not talking to each other. But I’ll definitely keep reading anything Abby puts out!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. I read Abby Jimenez’s title “Part of Your World” and I loved it and couldn’t put it down. “Yours Truly” was no different!
I have read books that cover subjects on anxiety, and I really appreciated the approach. Seeing Jacob’s response to things, and then how Briana supported him to ease him into situations. I felt this component is different, and not usually seen in books.
Then of course, Jacob and Briana’s romance was a nice build, and not straight into love. It was frustrating as a reader for Briana to not realize that Jacob was the “one” but I respect the realism of the trauma that Briana went through, and it would take time to build that trust again and not a couple months.
Overall, I really enjoyed this title, and look forward to reading other titles by Abby Jimenez!!

Have you ever read a book and felt charmed by a main character because you relate to them so much? That is how I felt the moment I met Jacob. You can tell this author took care and consideration in telling both Jacobs and Briana’s story. Jacob isn’t an easy character to connect to if you haven’t been in his shoes, but she wrote him with so much empathy that you could easily feel his heart through the pages. Briana’s situation was challenging and emotionally heartbreaking.
This author writes moments that are earned. Little interactions between Jacob and Briana that would seem mundane to others, but are loaded with emotions and chemistry. As the reader, you easily get swept up in these pages, in these characters, not wanting the book to end.this author easily provides the fun, entertaining scene that will have you belly laughing to emotional, thought provoking moments that grip your heart. I have said it before and I will keep saying it with every book this author comes out with. She's a one of a kind author with books that are heartfelt, characters that you cannot help but love, and of course the dogs that steal each scene.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Forever Pub for this ARC

Abby's books truly never disappoint! I am in love with her characters personalities, the humor, and ALL the feels.
Jacob and Briana are relatable on so many levels and you can't help but feel as if you're IN the story. If you're in the mood for a romance that makes you laugh, maybe even cry, and fall helplessly in love--this is for you!

I always enjoy Abby's books, and this one is no exception. Brianna is a newly divorced doctor. Her husband cheated on her, and she was forced to move back into her childhood home. Her younger brother is sick and in need of a kidney transplant. Jacob moves to the same hospital Brianna works at after his girlfriend breaks up with him and starts dating his brother. They announce they are going to get married. His family is angered by this, but Jacob decides to be the bigger person. He lies to his family and tells them he has girlfriend at his new hospital, to make it seem like he has moved on. This sets it up for Brianna to be his fake girlfriend. However, she thinks Jacob is a jerk because he struggles with social anxiety, which makes it difficult for him to navigate new environments and social situations. It also makes him come off as rude sometimes.
I loved this book so much. It has common tropes such as fake dating, (sort of) enemies to lovers, one bed, and forced proximity. I also loved Jacob's perspective on struggling with anxiety and how Brianna works to accommodate his needs and make sure he feels safe and comfortable, no matter the situation.

This book had me hooked from the beginning. The premise of Yours Truly is about two ER doctors, we have Briana, who has recently become divorced and has a brother in need of a kidney transplant and we have Jacob, who is the new ER doctor and doesn’t get in on the right foot with Briana due to his rudeness when they first interact. Briana eventually sympathizes with Jacob when she learns he suffer from anxiety and very introverted and tries to help him out. Their friendship begins when Jacob writes a letter to apologize to Briana and the rest is history. They continue to write letters to each other and eventually want more of each other. Jacob as it turns out becomes a match for her brother’s kidney, which Briana finds out and is willing to do anything to thank him, this is where the fake dating shenanigans begin, as Jacob needs a date for his brother’s wedding who is marrying HIS ex!! Briana is willing to put on a show for Jacob’s family and for the wedding and they may have done it a little too perfectly…
First of all, the whole letter writing was the cutest thing to witness, I loved watching them grow comfortable with each other and their friendship develop. Once the fake relationship started it had me even more invested because it was so obvious how much they pined over and understood each other but for the sake of keeping the friendship and keeping each other close, they didn’t want to do anything about it.
It was obvious there was miscommunication especially when it came towards their feeling to each other, it’s a trope I usually tend to hate but was able to let it slide because they had valid reasons in my opinion, Jacob was anxious he would lose her if he even tried to make a move and just mostly afraid to put it into words, while Briana just didn’t want to overwhelm him or hurt him in a way especially since she was under the impression he still loved his ex, much rather wanting to keep him as a friend if she couldn’t have him any other way.
Jacob’s character really spoke to me, I felt seen in a way, as I am also very introverted and have anxiety which worsens in social settings. There were many scenarios where I also found myself in the same situation and sort of validated my experiences. It was also nice seeing how he dealt with his anxiety, one of them being journaling, which is something I have also learned to do and just super aware of his mental health and things that can help him. I especially loved how understanding Briana was, not pushing him into an uncomfortable situation or judging him, but instead helping him out in anyway she could.
Towards the end, Briana comes into a situation which makes her close herself off from Jacob, potentially ending their relationship. It was sad to witness, especially knowing Briana’s past. But chapter 47 made it all better. I have never cried so much and it solidified, at least to me, how much they belonged with each other. He really loved her and didn’t want to lose her at all and really set out to prove to her that he will always be there for her. The epilogue was the cutest way to end the book.
This is the first book I have read by Abby Jimenez and I got to say I’m not disappointed and can’t wait to read more.
Overall 5/5 :)

Oh. My. GOODNESS.
This book swooped right in at the end of the year to make it into my top 5!
This was my first read from Abby Jimenez, and will most certainly not be my last. Run, don’t walk over to your book store of choice to pre-order this gem. The heart warming storyline, incredibly in depth characters and captivating writing style will draw you in immediately.
A big thank you go @readforeverpub for this Net Galley ebook! I devoured it 🙌🏼

This book was beautiful 😍 It has enemies to lovers, fake dating, workplace romance and gave us a look at a mmc with social anxiety, which I have yet to see and was done so well! I loved all their little “things” they had together, such as comfortable silences where they could “be harmless to each other”, how Briana would give Jacob info on new situations without him even asking so he would be comfortable, how they wrote letters to each other- swoon! It was just pure hearted romance and two struggling souls finding themselves in each other and made my heart swell. I loved everything about these two and thought they were written so well.

I am so appreciative of the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Yours Truly. The Friend Zone sucked me into Abby’s universe and has a firm hold on my heart!
This book. Just wow. LOVED it. Read it twice in less than two days each time. I laughed out loud more times than I can count!
As a woman I always expect to relate most to the female main character, which I did in many aspects. I saw myself in Briana in several of her tragic experiences and wanted to wrap her up in a hug. She’s such a strong woman and I’d never let myself get on her bad side! But Jacob - I saw myself in Jacob in ways I don’t think I ever knew how to put into words. I know I’m an anxious person, but reading the manifestation of how anxiety presented in Jacob’s social interactions was like Abby reached into my brain and showed me how anxiety can be lessened when your people acknowledge it and do things to put your brain at ease without making you feel like you need to change who you are.
I laughed, I cried, and I felt seen by this book. Briana and Jacob’s love story - five stars. Must read. Cannot wait to see what happens next in this universe!

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to preview this book. I’ve read a few of Jimenez’s books and always love her characters. I’m not familiar with anxiety, so that was new to me, and I loved how Briana handled Jacob when he was working through it. Jacob was amazing!! So caring and so thoughtful. They were perfect for each other. The fun tidbit of Alexis and Daniel was fun, too. I did love that book!! I also loved Jacob’s family, the parrot, the grandfather, and siblings. Such a fun cast of characters!

Abby Jimenez does it again.
I loved Part of Your World and read it earlier this year. So when I heard she had another one coming out, I could not wait to read it.
Brianna and Jacob are just the absolute cutest. I love how strong, yet vulnerable Brianna is through the novel. I related with Jacob so so much on his struggles with anxiety and racing thoughts.
I love the way Jimenez deals with difficult topics. She is able to take the topics and make you really feel for the characters without glamorizing them. This book also contained my favourite trope and my least favourite trope, but she did it in a way that makes sense. If I was in the characters shoes I would have done the same. The conflicts never felt forced.
I highly recommend going to check this novel out as soon as possible!

I was one of the few people on the planet who had never read an Abby Jimenez book, but I am so happy to say, that is no longer the case. And what a book to start with!! From the moment I started reading, I knew I was going to love Briana and Jacob’s story.
I adore the way Jimenez develops her characters, from her two MCs, to all of the supporting ones. I can completely envision Jacob’s big, boisterous family (one I wish I could be a part of), as well as Briana’s friends and their feisty hospital colleagues. They all felt like very real people who exist entirely outside of the story.
As someone who suffers from anxiety, I loved the way it was represented in Yours Truly. I felt for Jacob every time he felt anxious, overwhelmed, socially awkward (in fact as someone also on the autism spectrum, I think Jacob might be as well) or just plain stressed out and unable to deal. I so appreciated the way Jimenez had Briana handle those situations.
My only criticism of this book was that it relies pretty heavily on the miscommunication trope in the second half. And yet I loved this book so much, it still didn’t stop it from being a five star read for me.
I cannot recommend this book enough. Definitely give it a read, as well as her backlist which I’ve begun to work through.
Read if you like:
•friends to lovers
•fake dating
•workplace romance
•anxiety rep
•neurodivergent rep
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Abby does it again! This book will give you all the feels and will make you fall in love with the characters. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Fantastic read!!

I love this book, if I could give it more than 5 stars, I would! Bri and Jacob are perfection together. Their banter, their families, it was all so good. This author wrote Jacob’s social anxiety so well, the details of how he felt was so spot on with many of the same things I feel dealing with anxiety. Bri is hysterical, so many times I laughed out loud. And of course, there were tears as well. I will recommend this book to everyone I know! I can’t wait to get by hands on a copy when it is released in April!

I was SO excited to receive this ARC from NetGalley, as I’ve read all of Abby Jiminez’s previous works and have rated many of them 4.5-5 stars.
Truly Yours is no different!!! Jiminez knocked it out of the park. The beginning has such a good hook, I couldn’t put it down even if I tried. The characters are so loveable and have such distinct, realistic, and raw voices. The plot was very developed and I never felt like it was dragging. The ending was so sweet and I’m still crying as I type this.
***If you don’t like miscommunication or pregnancy tropes, this might not be the book for you. However, I feel like Jiminez does it better than any other author out there.
Overall rating; 5 Freaking Stars
