I love all of Donna's Books. I have been hooked on this Dark World since the beginning. I cant wait for her new releases.
*This book was sent to me via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*
This Author knew exactly how to catch me right from the start!! I love the build up. I instantly love the storyline. The characters were well written. Overall a good read all the way through. I will definitely be putting this one in the reread section of my reading list!!
Dark Alpha’s Command (Reaper #15). By Donna Grant. 2022. DL Grant, LLC (ARC eBook).
Reaper Balladyn and Skye Druid Rhona prove to be a power couple when the Reapers go against The Six. Xaneth and Reaper Aisling’s story advances, and as always, this installments has cliffhangers. Overall, the story dragged for me quite a bit, but you do get new involvement with the Skye Druids as Grant continues to mesh of all her series together.
Balladyn is the newest of the Reapers. He’s got quite the pedigree, a warrior, a leader of the dark Fae. Balladyn is being pulled toward the portal to Earth, He’s barely able to stop when death orders him to stop. Rhona is leader of the Skye Fae. She’s been recently appointed by the former leader. Rhona has come for a meeting that just maybe the end of her. She is on the edge of death. A Reaper and a Skye druid just may find the Dark’s Alpha’s Command to be what is needed to survive what’s coming.
Dark’s Alpha’s Command is the next book in Donna Grant’s most recent Reaper series book. A favorite bad guy turned good. A man who has gone through several different stages of his life, a warrior, a royal guard, a leader of the dark Fae and now a Reaper. A woman who isn’t confident in her new role as the leader of the quickly diminishing Skye Druids. Dark’s Alpha’s Command takes these two characters on a journey on a now mutual enemy. A man who will help the woman he cares for become more confident in ruling her people. A woman will help a man realize his actual destiny. Donna Grant’s Dark’s Alpha’s Command has danger, suspense, lust, and an attraction neither can deny. When the enemy attacks it’ll take the combined powers of several supernaturals and the newest Reaper and the leader of the Skye Druids combined powers to hopefully win over their enemy. Dark’s Alpha’s Command is the stepping off story that begins Donna Grant’s newest series called Skye Druids with Iron Ember
Balladyn and Rhona's story is filled with intrigue and mystery, building more upon the Fae Others and their thirst for power. It delves into how far they are willing to go to gain control of the Isle of Skye and the Skye druids. Of course, readers of the story have been hoping that Balladyn gets his HEA and this is it. Loads f Easter eggs and cliffhangers in this one.

Was an emotionally thrilling roller coaster journey from beginning to end. Really enjoyed this emotional and action packed adventure filled with engaging and witty charters, memorable dialog, heart racing twists and exciting turns.
Finally B’s story! And wow this was everything I could even hope for. Is this a stand-alone….maybe, only if the lack of back story doesn’t bother you. I know it’s a long series but I have been in it from the beginning but this has been just freakin amazing! The heat is sexy, the suspense and flow of the story is just consuming. I can go on and on but you will not be disappointed if you add this series and all the twists to your tbr shelf.
Balladyn's story is very well crafted and as you navigate this book the reader feels rewarded as he has finally found the woman meant for him. Thoroughly enjoyed this one!
Ahhhhhhh this was just such a wonderful book and I just thoroughly enjoyed myself. I didn’t want to put this book down. I just fell in love with this wonderful story and it’s wonderful characters. I will most definitely be reading more stories from this wonderful author.
This is part of the Reapers series. Knowledge of the series will enhance this story, but it is enough of a standalone to enjoy anyway.
Belladyn receives a pull across realms from Rhona, who was badly injured. Neither of them are aware how she could summon him. All Belladyn knows is that he is meant to protect and help Rhona in the upcoming conflct.
This book is so well written and engrossing! Anyone who has followed this series will be pleased and new readers may want to go pick up some of the earlier books..
Yay! Balladyn's story! I loved Balladyn from the first time he appeared in the Reapers and the Dragon Kings. He's mysterious ability to fight in with both sides of the Fae always intrigued me. However, in this story he seemed to loose some of his personality as he fell for the heroine, Rhona. I did nit think either of the main characters kept much of their personalities and other seemed sort of weak. I I did enjoy the plot and Balladyn becoming his ultimate role and going back to the Druids and Warriors. I am so ready for the conclusion and Xaneth!
Dark Alpha's Command is the 15th book in this series and is an absolute page turner! It has the classic of villainy redeemed to be hero down the road and it is a fantastic read. It is a beautiful redemption story as well as a hot read. People have been waiting for Balladyn's story for years and this was certainly worth the wait!
Yep, not gonna lie: I like Donna’s Reapers. A. Lot. And also her Dark Kings. So, whenever a new book in the series is coming up on Netgalley, I need to have it. And the moment it is granted, I drop the rest of my books and start reading.
And this one is about Balladyn! I couldn’t wait to see what the ex-Dark King, now Reaper, was going to do, once meeting his other half.
And – how could I have ever doubted – it was an epic journey! And best of all: Donna has announced another spin-off series about the druids. Totally awesome!!!
As usual with Donna: there are a lot of twists and turns. And although you can read her stories as a standalone, it is sooooo much better, if you read more of them. You’ll understand better how the plot is evolving. Enjoy!
Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
Another solid installment in this world that I’ll start my review with the following note: If this is your first adventure into the Reaper world (or this universe) it may be a little bit overwhelming. There is a lot of back story, characters, drama, and romance that lay in the pages before those of this book. I’m sure you can read this standalone, but you’ll miss all the great nuance that’s thrown in. I’d recommend starting wayyyyyy back at the beginning, but know that can seem daunting.
This story is finally Balladyn’s redemption. He has been the good guy, the bad guy, the sort of good guy again, and now is finding his place among the Reapers. As a bit of an oddball because of his history, made especially awkward by his ex being the mate of the Dragon Kings’ leader, he has been understandably standoffish. Rhona is in an unusual spot herself. She’s the leader of the Skye druids, but feels unqualified for the position, not being a magical powerhouse herself. Upon arriving to a standard meeting, she’s attacked and somehow summons none other than Balladyn himself. How? Well, I think I’m still confused about that, but here we are!
Balladyn does the typical martyr act and throws all his sins on the table to allow Rhona to reject him before anything starts. Lucky for us, she doesn’t, so we get some good sizzle along with the larger storyline. We get some nudging for the Aisling and X story, but what we really attack (haha) is Lena, the head of the big baddies. Combining all their baggage seems to work both magically and romantically for these two, so we are gifted with a huge battle in the final act. While we still have one more book in the series to tie up loose ends, this was a good step forward overall.
I love the dynamics between Balladyn and Rhona from the get go. They're relationship grows quick but it's not rushed. Everything about this book moves quickly and grabbed me from page one. I love when characters from previous books make an appearance, it's like a family reunion. And when they show up you know stuff is getting real.
Donna Grant doesn't disappoint when it comes to her stories and I've read nearly all of them. She truly has the gift. She has the ability to bring the pages to life. From what you would think would be a normal dining scene to an epic battle, she brings them all to life.
Finally Balladyn's story, the villain from the Dark Kings series. He was betrayed and killed by the Light Queen and becomes a Reaper. Throughout the previous series, Balladyn has had an unrequited love for Rhi, who rejects him for her own mate, Con. Meeting his mate makes him realize that the feelings he had for Rhi did not compare.
Rhona has her own destiny to play out, however now she has Balladyn and others on her side.
Characters from another of Donna Grant's series appeared in this story. I haven't read any books from that series so will need to check it out.
This is a really good series and this book is a great addition to it.
At last , we have Balladyn's story - betrayed at every turn over the years , he has been light and dark and all the shades in between BUT now as a Reaper he follows Erith , the little Goddess .
When he finds himself in the grip of an unbreakable compulsion he finds himself in a dark , wet alley .... a bloodied body at his feet - Rhona , the leader of the Skye druids has been badly injured . Who has betrayed her ? can it be one her own ? Is it the Six and their leader , Lena ?
Drawn to each other , unable to think of a world without each other ........... Rhona soon realises that it is only by combining their magics that they might be able to defeat the Six - But they will need the help of all their allies to survive what is to come .................. for another battle looms ; a prophecy is fulfilled .
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
Most of us fans have been waiting for Balladyn's story for a while now and yes I have been one of those people. I am so glad to finally have it.
I found this one very well written and yes I loved this story very much.
4.5 Stars
Dark Alpha's Command is Reaper Balladyn and Druid Rhona’s story. A story of fate, power, magic, betrayal and a HEA. Told in third person I loved the dynamics of the characters and the compelling storyline and highly recommend you read this book and series.
This was such a good book!
The reason why I rated this 4 instead of 5 is because I felt like I was missing out on something, like I was lacking information. I know this was labeled as a stand-alone but I felt like I had to read a couple of the previous books to help immerse myself into this world. Also, I don’t know if it was because of my ARC copy, but more than 70% of the book was italicized which did make it quite hard in the eyes after a while.
Now everything else? LOVED. There was so much world building I can’t help but be impressed. I absolutely adored the characters and was so invested in them all.
I for sure will be checking out the previous- and future- books in this series.
