Christmas at the Highland Flower Shop is my first Lucy Coleman book and won’t be my last.
If you are looking to get into the holiday spirit and feel like you are in a Hallmark movie, this is the book for you.
I felt like Bella and Maverick’s relationship was completely authentic and wasn’t insta love, which I was happy about. Their journey really was beautiful.
Loved this storyline and the characters were great, loved how descriptive the story was I actually could have been there. Christmas, snow and the highlands what more could you want in a cosy book
Highly recommend
This book was so gorgeous, thank you for the the chance to lose myself in this gorgeously festive read.
I snuggled up and could almost smell the pine, see the glistening fairy lights against the tinsel.
Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
My second book by Lucy Coleman was warming, gratifying and highly entertaining, bringing absolutely no disappointments.
Bella Reed's Aunt Jane has run the Highland Flower Shop in Fort William, Scotland for decades. Aunt Jane is handing over Bella who has a diploma in business management as well as years of experience in floristry. Aunt Jane will be moving to Faro primarily to spend more time with her beau, Vic. Bella learns that unfortunately, her aunt didn't account for the change in lease conditions when the business was signed over. Enter businessman Maverick McIntyre who serves notice to Bella for eviction. Can Bella move forward or will she have to let the family's whimsical, delightful shop go?
The Christmassy references and descriptions from Lucy Coleman in this tale are so heavenly! They claim the top spot for me in the story. I also enjoyed the character of Bella who displayed independence and strength, and other members of the cast were well portrayed too. If you have a penchant for romantic Yuletide yarns, Christmas at the Highland Flower Shop is a must.
This review was written voluntarily and my rating was in no way influenced by the fact that I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel from Embla Books via NetGalley.
I've never read anything from Lucy Coleman before but I will in the future. This is a feel-good get under a cozy blanket and read all day book. I thought the characters were lovely and the book left me feeling happy. Highly recommend.
Coleman is one of my favorite British rom com writers and she delivers again in Highland Flower Shop. A perfect book to curl up with a cup of coffee and enjoy the afternoon.
This was my first book by this author and am looking forward to reading more by them. This was a cosy heartwarming escapism read with loveable characters that I immediately warmed to and a story of family friendships and community with a sprinkling of romance and Christmas magic along the way.
I love a happy ending! A happy tale set in Scotland, with a Christmas spirit, kept alive by a group of charity minded citizens. Enter a new business who disrupts the floral business that runs a traditional Christmas display. Bella and Maverick have a rocky start, but begin to help each other navigate a successful end for all. The local description of the countryside and Rand all's estate make for a magical Christmas. Thanks to NetGalley for a holiday ARC!
Tells the story of Bella Reed has just inherited has work at the flower shopsince she left collage. The shop is set in the highlands near Fort William in Scotland.
Screen is set inside with all of the flowers being described a flour shop, that she hasand Bella states 'what work when you love it!'.
Auntie Jane, who owned the flower shop helped a lot giving her her 'Bella 'had an unofficial apprenticeship, as she began at the tender age of twelve spent every Saturday, I spent sweeping floors and making teas and coffee and then auntie Jane taught me everything I [now] know about florist, and it turns out I'm a natural' but parent believed she was to good for that so she off to collage and gained a business management diploma.
For 16 years since auntie Jane started here been but is now cashing in her retirement
Give you a business for years to come Auntie Jane 'ease into new role. The business is growing steadily and while it's not a goldmine, it means the world to me to pass it down to my niece'.
Bella isn now 'in the driving seat'.
We are informed that Bella has also set up a Santa's grotto in the back garden of the shop which she herself has (of course) decorated in flowers and his her grandfather. They make, great memories and come back generations to com
Other characters include Angus, he gives here free branches of holly that he cuts from his land in unproted exchange for bunches of flowers being sent to his wife on their anniversary and her birthdays and also giving them a Christmas bunchwwqsss
Mrs Mavtavishn has Has worked in the flower shop since it had opened its doors.
The novel state that Bella has worked full time in the flower shop for eight years and loving it, could their have been a previous novel to get us up to speed with story and a greater expansion of characterisation
Holly joined four years ago daughter Katy five year old and has a useless dad Nick is but this story is never developed.
Also we are told the shop is a family business in the third generation so there is definitely room for greater scope development over a series of books
Santa sleigh 'pop's pride and joy' brought a lot of visitors into the area'brings and now the third generation of families come it has nostalgic memories, as it's over 65 years old. You also get 25 minutes with Santa alone, but on the conditions you donate a toy to the charters they visiting children get a wooden snowflake
Maverick dictionary state the 'a Maverick is an unorthodox or independent minded person' he is basically unconventional and does not think or behave like the rest of us.
Can be used in both a positive and negative context
Maverick and Bella 'lock horns, but an unexpected friendship is formed.
Bella 'isn't about to let anyone down or the entire town is counting on her to save Christmas ' the novel starts only nine day before Christmas
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publishers as I received a digital complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Maverick and Bella clash when he throws her out of the flower shop he has just taken over. Will they see past their business disagreements and see each other? A great festive read.
I received a free copy of, Christmas at the Highland Flower Shop, by Lucy Coleman, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Bella finally gets to run her Aunt Jane's, flower shop, but she get evicted first. Maverick, is not the most easiest person to talk to. Splitting up her flower shop into two buildings is not ideal, but needs must. This is a great Christmas story, I love, Lucy Coleman's books, and this one is very enjoyable.
A lovely small town festive romance full of community spirit, friendship and gentle romance. Bella's dream of keeping the family Christmas legacy running is threatened when she loses the lease of her inherited flower shop in the Highlands of Scotland.
I love the emotion that defines this story, the believable relationships and the gentle festive romance.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
Another delightful Christmassy book by Lucy. Seems strange reading this in the middle of summer, but it has been a refreshing and enjoyable read.
Bella inherits the Highland Flower shop from her Aunt Jane and it was not long she finds out her Aunt had lost the lease to the shop. Bella now has to begin the search for a new location for the shop. This is just the beginning of everything Bella has to do to keep this shop going.
This is an easy and sweet Christmas story filled with so much emotion. This is a great book to spend time with. The characters all fit together perfectly, and they all help Bella accomplish what she wants to.
Thank you NetGalley and Lucy Coleman for the opportunity to read this ARC of Christmas at the Highland Flower Shop. This is my personal review.
A beautiful story about a woman who overcomes the obstacles she faces when she inherits the Highland Flower Shop from her Aunt Jane. Soon after taking over the Flower Shop Bella learns that she lost her lease. Not only does she need to find a new location for the Shop, but she needs to find a place that can accommodate her family legacy – Santa’s Grotto and the sleigh ride that is a regional holiday favorite. Enter Maverick, the grandson of Randall, a friend of her Aunt Jane’s, and the person who initiated the eviction.
Come to the Scottish Highlands and join Bella and Maverick’s on their journey and meet the family and community that come together to help Bella save her legacy and find her happily ever after.
Thank you NetGalley and Embla Books for this eARC, My opinions are my own and not solicited in any way.
‘Tis the Season to read the perfect Christmas romantic comedy. Lucy Coleman’s Christmas at the Highland Flower Shop is just that. Much like many beloved Hallmark Christmas movies, this story was about how two characters, who are at first at odds, come together to save Christmas. Set in the Scottish Highlands, this story is about saving Bella’s family legacy, Santa’s Grotto sleigh ride. Bella is a dedicated, hard-working woman who just inherited her Aunt Jane’s florist shop. Maverick is the new-to-town businessman that causes Bella’s world to come crashing down. While Maverick seems harsh and cold at first glance, we soon see his true colors. He is a thoughtful and caring man willing to roll up his sleeves to help Bella. While their romance blooms, the two work together to save Christmas for the entire town.
This story had me hooked right from the start. I enjoyed watching the sweet romance between Bella and Maverick unfold. The cast of side characters and their stories kept things interesting. I loved the small town of Fort William. This story embraced family, friendship, and a sense of community where everyone cares for each other. It is the perfect feel-good story to read this holiday season.
If you love sweet, wholesome romance filled with tons of Christmas cheer, this is the book for you! Make sure to grab your copy of Christmas at the Highland Flower Shop! The expected publishing date is September 20, 2022.
Thank you, NetGalley and Embla Books, for offering me the opportunity to read this eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Ie joy Ed this one. Rey festive and made me start thinking of Christmas presents and cards. Set in the Highlands of Scotland this was a sweet read. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
I liked the concept of Lucy Coleman’s book, which is filled with a sense of Christmas spirit set in a cute Scottish setting. Bella is a likeable character and a strong woman, driving her newly acquired flower shop business forward and navigating some bumps that rear up.
Personally, I found the storyline very slow and lacking in moments of chemistry between Bella and Maverick. It all felt too predictable for my liking.
This book was such a cute Christmas rom-com.
I loved the setting, the slow burn, the whole story and I loved Bella and Maverick
I definitely will be reading more books from this author.
Such a warm Christmas story. I love when everyone comes together to solve a problem. This story is very much about family. The Aunt and Grandfather’s indiscretion wasn’t really necessary to the book I don’t think but that’s just my opinion. Overall I enjoyed the book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
