This book was okay, I think it was hyped more than I anticipated. The MCs are supposed to be mature- but they act very young for their respective ages, 30's, 40's. Some of the spicy scenes were really great, and some of the banter was good. The book was also pretty long. I wouldn't excitedly recommend this book but I don't regret reading it!!
I love Lucy Score's books! They're always steamy and swoon-worthy, however I did find the main characters acted a little young for their ages.
Banter and Chemistry are on top with this enemies to lover story.
Dominic and Ally jump off the pages at you in this story. I loved Dominic's mother kind of playing match maker topped the cake for me. The banter and pacing keeps you tied to this book, and you won't want to put it down. I read it back in 2020 and this was a re read for me and I still loved every moment of the book. A great read that will leave you walking away happy.
I loved this book! First of all I loved that both main characters are older, Dom in 45 and Ally is 39. This is a true grumpy/sunshine which I loved, Dom is so grumpy but so sensitive and kind which was very swoon worthy. Sometimes when the hero tries to take over/help the heroine I find there heroine just kind of rolls over which does not happen here, Ally very much fights her her own autonomy which is super refreshing, and is consistently a strong female character throughout the whole book. I also really liked the "Me too" movement aspect of this book, it was not what I was expecting when just reading the book summary but it was a pleasant surprise and I thought it was well done and loved how it was talked about in the book. Overall this is a great book, it made me laugh out loud and smile to myself as I was reading, I loved Dom and Ally.
I loved this book and and adding this author to my must read list. Everything about this book was.spot on enjoyable.
Started reading this book right after one that slightly broke me and this book put my heart back together again!
Did you like The Devil Wears Prada but want more supporting friends for the leading lady and a struggle you can more so get behind and support? Then give this book a read.
By a Thread follows Ally recently moved back to NY/NJ and is struggling in many ways. Through and epic grump sunshine encounter Ally gets fired from one of her gigs only to score an opportunity for more stable income working at a premiere MY fashion magazine. Only down side our sunshine Ally has to keep dealing with grumpy Dominic and the two though hating each other desperately want to rip each other's clothes off too. Too bad there is a no-fraternization policy at the magazine.
I loved everything about this book except one thing.
the characters ages (ok and the over use of the word crown).
I loved the grumpy to sunshine that we see happen in Dom, and the enemies to lovers was really well done! It was also really great that Lucy managed to fit #metoo into this storyline seamlessly.
My only issue was that these people are 39 and 45, but act 10+ years younger. There were several times throughout the book that I would sort of roll my eyes and think that it was not how someone over 30 would act. It is easy to get past though. For a long book, this was pretty easy to read.
I've already read Things We Never Got Over, but I enjoyed this book enough to go find all of Lucy's other books and watch out for new ones!
I love Lucy Score books and this one is no different! It was spicy and fun. I love the Devil Wears Prada themes and energy, but also the supportive female role model/boss rather than a Miranda Priestly negative experience. Grumpy/sunshine is one of my favorite tropes and Dominic and Ally fit it so well!
i am obsessed with Lucy Score!
I honestly cannot get enough of Lucy Score. This enemies to lovers workplace romance post the metoo movement was so freaking good! Dom and Ally’s banter was so perfect, the steamy scenes were so hot, and the tender storyline of ally and her dad will absolutely capture your heart. I appreciated the way this story developed, specially with how it handled workplace sexual assault. I was not able to put this down and would have easily read 100 more pages.
Lucy Score strikes again! By a Thread was a super enjoyable, steamy romance that I couldn't get enough of. It was full of humor and workplace banter that had me laughing the whole time. I loved the slow burn and character tension by the author. Excellent read!
