My Maid, Miss Kishi by Kano Kashiwagi is a romance-comedy that after one volume hasn't really shown its hand yet. In the series, Kiichiro Hayase is able to accomplish almost anything, except that he's a little bit clumsy. Enter his maid, Miss Kishi, who is there to help overcome his slight inadequacy. The only problem is that she's not very emotional, almost stoic. Kiichiro makes it his personal mission to make his Miss Kishi smile. Underneath all this misunderstanding, it's pretty apparent that Miss Kishi loves her work and might have feelings for Kiichiro but she can't emote them. Hopefully, the manga evolves a bit since right now there's not much unique about it.
A funny and entertaining romance story between an employer and his employee when the only rule is … make her smile!!
I loved this manga !!! The characters were good and I found myself frustrated more than once, alongside the main male character while trying to figure out how to make that Miss Maid happy and smile … even just once !!!
It was so good, both because of the lot and the fact that it was a short story.
Also the clumsiness of the main male character is so cute to watch !!! It reminded me so much of my own !!!
Honestly I cannot wait until the other one will be available so that I can read it !!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for this eARC.
Despite how lacking the plot is and how ridiculous it is, I did quite enjoy it. It’s a light read and I love the art and the comedy in this manga, I laughed at the silly moments of Kiriichi due to his clumsiness and Miss Kishi is so cute! I hope to see character development. I just wish that there’s actually a plot and not so repetitive since it did get a bit annoying and boring.
I wanted to like this manga, I really did, but it just wasn’t for me.
The main character (I’ve already forgotten his name) is a tstl hero and clumsy to a point where it was in no way endearing or funny anymore. There’s also no plot, just random events without any relevant connection. Miss Kishi has no personality so I don’t get the main character’s obsession with her.
Anyways, aside from the art style I didn’t really like anything about this manga and I wouldn’t recommend it.
Ok I love this manga like a lot. Really love an independent woman who speaks her mind, and a man who basically needs her since he's a total clutz. First I thought it was odd that a grown man needs a maid, but I really love their dynamic, and the art style alone is just so beautiful. Will be reading volume 2 when it comes out.
Thanks Netgalley and Publisher for giving me volume 1 of this manga!
I like the art like ngl, Kishi looked so pretty 😍 but cannot say much about ML. I just found him being the “unlucky bloke” to be too repetitive like his clumsiness with destroying everything in his path were just flat and not funny. I think the author could’ve just made the character development more interesting and on point…

3/5 stars
The cover and the title had me really interested in the book, but the story itself wasn't quite what I was expecting. This manga follows a rich businessman, Kiichiro who is seen as "perfect" in everything but he's painfully clumsy. The only way he's surviving is because of his maid, Miss Kishi who makes sure his life stays put together.
Overall, I think that this series of vignettes didn't quite have me sold on the characters or the story. While his clumsiness is supposed to be for comedic value, it fell flat and repetitive by the end of the book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for this eARC. All thoughts are my own.
Kiichiro is a wealthy businessman who has always excelled in his studies and sports and now in the family's business too, but he has a major flaw—he's clumsy in his everyday life. He trips on air and breaks things continuously, but thankfully his loyal maid Miss Kishi is there to support him. In this first volume, Kiichiro wants to find a way to make his maid smile, but it's a difficult task make Miss Kishi smile when she won't accept any present that Kiichiro gives her.
It's a cute manga that can't stop making you smile at Kiichiro's efforts, but at the same time is quire ridiculous. It makes the readers wonder if Kiichiro will ever be able to make his maid happy.
Kano Kashiwagi did it again !!!
My Maid, Miss Kishi is one of my favorite romcom manga now.
Things I love about this book :
- Short chapter
- Clumsy main character
- Miss Kishi's expression
- Humour
I guess this one is a the best recommendation if you want read comedy manga with romance genre. It's simple, cute, and has a perfect art style
I’m not sure if I liked this story or not. I find myself as ambivalent as Miss Kishi herself. A very lite collection of vignettes. I’m finding it difficult to leave a positive or negative review. I found it “blah”.
I’m already done and ready for volume 2! Love the silliness and the “awe moments”. It’s a fun read and can be relatable at times as well!
I liked it, but I don't really get Miss Kishi? Why is she the way she is?
Hopefully she opens up quickly or she could get annoying as the hero becomes more slapstick trying to win her over.

This manga was cute, funny and really silly. A clumsy CEO who can't live without his maid that comes to his rescue each time and who acts a bit like an automaton. Now, I just want to know why does she act like this with him? For sure, there must be a secret behind her behavior.
Thank you so much to the publisher and Netgalley. This was a fun cool read it was super adorable and I loved the happy loveable lab male lead and the minimal emotions and happiness with small things women. This is a great manga, I liked the art style and I think that the pacing in this book is very good and the character arcs are amazing I would highly recommended it.
Kiichiro has it all. He is rich, successful and handsome. His only flaw is that he is hopelessly, ridiculously clumsy. Luckily, he has his maid, Miss Kishi, always at his side to get him out of trouble. The problem is that Miss Kishi never smiles and is pretty difficult to read, making Kiichiro worry she may be unsatisfied and decide to leave him. Kiichiro will go to any length to please Miss Kishi and see one of her rarest smiles.
The artwork is pretty cute and the story presents many funny moments.
The downside is that the narrative gets pretty repetitive, rehearsing the same dynamic over and over again with only small variations. The are some hints here and there that let the reader suspect that there's more to Miss Kishi than meets the eye. Despite her stoicism, there are some small gestures that suggest she really cares (maybe even romantically) for Kiichiro. In this volume, however, those are just elusive glimpses.
And it's a pity because I would have loved to see a little bit more of her behind her impassive mask. It definitely would have helped to get more attached to these characters and the overall story.
My Maid, Miss Kishi is about a billionaire who is extremely Clumsy and his maid. Each chapter shows Kiichiro breaking something or just being generally Clumsy and Miss Kishi fixing it. They're dynamic is very cute as Kiichiro constantly wants to praise and treat Miss Kishi well for all she does while Miss Kishi the more silent resistant type. This manga was pretty average but I enjoyed it overall.
Plot 3/5
Art 3/5
so cute so cute! he likes her and wants her to smileeee and he puts 100% the effort even though he is so clumsy!!! SO wholesome but I wish there was something more like character development! But it was overall cute and made me smile hahahaso cute so cute! he likes her and wants her to smileeee and he puts 100% the effort even though he is so clumsy!!! SO wholesome but I wish there was something more like character development! But it was overall cute and made me smile hahaha
This was the cutest, I loved it! I have never related to a character more then Mr Kiichiro, I am such a clumsy person and this story just made me smile constantly. Fun, sweet and funny, I can't wait for the next volume 😄
I like the premise of a wealthy man trying to make his maid happy; it's a wholesome concept. The characters didn't really pull me in, since they felt like archetypes I've seen before. Kiichiro's dynamic with Miss Kishi was cute, though I didn't really buy into their romance (though there's room to develop them more in Volume 2). Funnily enough, I thought Kishi would be cute with the secretary because something about someone denying their same-sex attraction by forming a one-sided rivalry really intrigues me. I doubt it was intentionally set up that way, or else she would've had more focus in Volume 1. I would keep reading if this was the direction the story was going, but I have a feeling that won't be happening. It's not bad by any means, it just didn't feel interesting to me.
3.5 rounded up
This is a story in which billionaire and accident prone Kiichiro tries to ensure his best maid, Kishi, remains with him. She is excellent at all tasks and always goes above and beyond to help him, especially by cleaning up after his clumsiness.
The art style in this was lovely and I enjoyed that each chapter was almost a new skit, but I didn't feel like I understood Kishi at all (apart from some hints you get throughout the story). I think this is a good start but I feel like it's difficult to judge based on this volume alone. There are really only two main characters and other side characters barely even get mentioned/named, and there isn't really much plot involved. Overall this was an enjoyable read, I think it's a romcom type of manga which can be quite funny and cute at times.
<i>I was provided with a complimentary copy of this volume by Kodansha via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, which I leave voluntarily.
