I am loving this book!! It's such a practical and well-explained guide for artists looking to make their art into a serious business and get paid (well!) for the art and talent they are developing. I've read many books on this topic, but Artpreneur really gets down to the need-to-know, actionable detail that moves wannabe / existing artists out of starving (or stuck!) artist thinking into a knowledgeable, credible and successful business owner.

If you've struggled, doubted, wondered how to make it as a genuine artist that customers/clients keep returning to, pick up this book! It's an artist's business mentor, right at your fingertips.

I enjoyed the practical advice given in this book. As someone who always considers making my hobbies into side hustles with the hope of taking them to full-time businesses, this book made that feel more attainable for the first time. This was an encouraging read, but I ultimately don't feel like the content was terribly unique.

This is a book that deserves to be read several times - the content is that good!
I particularly enjoyed the sections on how to build an email list and how to price your creative works without feeling sleazy or a being totally embarrased.
Recommended.

This would be a great introduction to business for any struggling artist. But I’ve already read a lot of books like this, and didn’t find that this one had any unique information outside of ordinary business advice.

This book is packed with direct, straightforward, do-this-not-that steps that I needed to hear ... and used to create an actual legit thriving business from my side hustle. Schulman has a specific, very thorough way of giving guidance. I loved this one: "open a bank account for your business, in your business' name, at a bank that is NOT where you keep your family/personal/shared household account." When I did, my whole mindset changed for the better, and so did my revenue and profit. The thing that sets this book apart is that it's full of actual step-by-step advice that really propels you. Also, the encouragement to go big was easier to take in and implement when seeing other people's stories. I was already a fan of Schulman's podcast, The Inspiration Place ... thank heavens that she packaged some of her best tips into this book, which I'll refer to again and again. ps. I bought 2 copies - 1 for me, 1 to share. :)

Love the style of this book! A mixture of story and advice on how to be an artpreneur. It’s a great guide for anyone looking to build a career in the arts. As an author and writer, I found it helpful for both parts of my artistic life.

The title Artpreneur got me interested because it resonated with me. I loved reading the book. Miriam takes you to her memory lane, tickles you with her phrases and words. One of my favourite quotes: “Don’t ever wish to rush time.”

If you are a coach or are looking for a coach as a creative artist this is a book can help you align your creativity with the tips and tools Miriam Schulman shares. You may already have read many ‘business coaching’ books, yet Artpreneur makes sense to all that you may already know and teach you how to apply it your creativity as a business model. Her believe triad has become a holy trinity for me.

If you are an artist or you know an artist, this book will help you big time. It will teach you how to save time and energy. Time and energy to be used what you can do best: be creative, be an artist.

"Artpreneur" is a perfect read for any artist who wants to go full-time. I'd heard most of it before, but that's just because I'm super familiar with business and marketing. It had a lot of business techniques taught in fundamental terms and tuned specifically to artists. The information was classic and a perfect primer for beginners.

But more importantly, it addressed many limiting self-beliefs that are the actual blocks in business growth. I loved how the author walked us through the ideas that could hold us back from believing in ourselves and our art. She helped us examine these beliefs from a different perspective so we could overcome them and reach for our dreams.

Overall, it was the perfect combination of "believe in yourself" and "here is what you do to succeed once you believe in yourself."

Artpreneur is one of the best books I’ve read connecting art and entrepreneurship into actionable, practical, and sustainable ways to make a living with art. Miriam took me on a journey of finding myself, creating art from my soul, tapping into an abundant mindset, and applying the business tools and practices to succeed.. Thank you, Miriam. I’m now being my own weird applying this biz knowledge.

This book is a guide to setting up the business side of your art, and make profit from your talents. It has clear explanations and at the end of each chapter there are practical action steps. Although it is a book about a business subject, it highlights the care needed for the artist, his/her work and the collectors. This was an enjoyable read and I recommend it.

ARTPRENEUR is full of advice and information from artist and mentor Miriam Schuman. Covering topics from psychological hang-ups like imposter syndrome, to how to price your work, to making your marketing pay off, the information is practical, useful, and actionable. And there is no worry about the writing being dry; the tone is conversational and like the best kind of pep talk. There are plenty of anecdotal examples of artists who have implemented changes and seen results, serving as further inspiration.

ARTPRENEUR is for any kind of maker looking to turn a passion into a profitable business. Schulman feels like someone in your corner with answers, imparting knowledge and showing you how to move forward armed with confidence. This is a resource to look to again and again as you move forward with your creative business.

This was an enjoyable read. Easy to understand and full of quips that kept me interesting. The point laid out by the author were valid . This is a good read for someone starting a business in art and requires some direction. I like how the closing of the book lists all of her references and follow up information.

This book is about half pep talk on selling one’s art at a higher price and half guide to marketing and selling art. “Pep talk” isn’t meant to diminish what the book does. First of all, the author does offer extensive justification for higher pricing, both from the body of research and from anecdotal experiences. Secondly, this is a pep talk that needs to be delivered and is the most important function of the book, by far. That doesn’t mean the book doesn’t do a fine job with the marketing and selling bits, but there are so many books available on that subject.

The book is directed toward graphic artists, though some of book’s message is of relevance to musicians and poets as well. (Perhaps that’s why I found the pep talk part so important, because it’s broadly germane to artists, whereas sales are quite different for media where huge numbers of copies are made versus one-of-a-kind works.)

If you’re a struggling artist or would like to avoid being one, this book is worth reading.

Turning art into a business and marketing is very different from running and marketing a <b>creative</b> business. In this book, Miriam provides a heart-centered approach to the business of art.

This book is aimed at brand new beginners, with very easy, attainable tasks. It's encouragement, it's practical, and it contains a lot of examples by those who are Doing The Thing.

Each chapter includes a "What artpreneurs need to believe" and "Marching Orders" (your to do list). There is a big focus on mindset (understandable, as one of the main struggles with running your own business is mindset).

Good book for getting started.

The title is easy to read and has a wealth of information for artists. One can walk away with a good list to help them move their art career forward.

This book gave a good outline of how to succeed in an artist job. Especially helpful is the section on how to price your art and what to include in your email newsletters.

Like another reviewer, my arc was not of this book but rather for The Art of the Tale by other authors. I was looking forward to this one but did not enjoy the one I got instead. I won’t be publicly reviewing this book since I was unable to read it.
