Inglewild is a picturesque, farm town with a fun host of residents, and the setting of the second book in the Lovelight series. This is the story of a cranky, rather detached farmer who prefers solace to crowds, and a social media influencer who’s used to the fast-paced, very public life, but is craving something more genuine and tangible.

In the Weeds is a very steamy insta-lovey romance that starts off with a descriptive hook-up, which I could have done without. Though the two try to forget one another and move on, they are eventually drawn back together. There love seems to lean heavily on the physical side and less on the relational side. In fact, their relationship is the product of very little time actually spent together. The characters are admittedly likeable and have a great support system in the town they’ve both chosen to share. They evolve and grow over time and their chemistry develops into something more, but I didn’t always feel the authenticity of their connection. I’d personally prefer more depth and less instant gratification.

In the Weeds is full of humor, as well as tension, angst and struggles to overcome personal issues as well as relational ones. This second chance romance has two POVs and the audio-version has two narrators, Pippa Jayne and Dane Anderson, who do a nice job clearly expressing each character, though their voices are a little too smooth and sultry for my liking, like a late night radio talk host. Nonetheless they perform the story in a heartfelt manner.

Second book in a series (?) but definitely reads as a stand alone. Story line was cute and it was a quick read/listen.

Now that I’ve read this book I KNOW I need to read whatever other Lovelight Farms series books B.K. Borison puts out because I LOVED this one! It was everything I didn’t know I needed in a sweet romance book with a burnt-out FMC and a broody cinnamon roll MMC. I was thriving.

I listened to this book in its audio version and all I ask is that B.K. Borison keep writing these sweet romances and having them made into audio versions because I am OBSESSED! I haven’t read any of the other books she has out, but I want to read them ASAP.

This book focuses on Evie (Evelyn) an influencer who is in desperate need for a break from her hectic social media-filled life. And where should she find it but at the farm where her one-night stand from the past Beckett Porter lives and works.

Beckett was so sweet and really did help Evie to find her happy, whatever that may have been for a day or a week or longer. The miscommunication trope was handled in a way that I actually kind of liked? Which is super abnormal for me. I liked how it was realistic in the sense that Beckett was afraid and let his past trauma (kinda) play into his reaction when the miscomm. happened. They handled it like adults once it was actually played out rather than just acting like children which I highly appreciated!

I loved this story and will definitely be on the lookout for more books in this series in the future!

I'd been meaning to pick up In the Weeds for awhile, so I was excited for the opportunity to listen to an advance copy of the audiobook. I love books with dual POVs that have two narrators, and both narrators did a great job, delivering convincing performances.

Beckett and Evie have a two-night stand one weekend in Maine, and then both of them go back to their separate and very different lives. Beckett works on a tree farm in the small town of Inglewild. Evie is a big-time social media influencer who has never put down roots. She winds up on his farm as part of a social media contest, much to their mutual surprise, but before long, she's on to the next place, the next thing. The weight and pressure of her influencer lifestyle is wearing her down, and Evie, facing a bad case of burnout, returns to the last place she felt happy--Ingleside. Once there, she and Beckett get a second chance to get things right--to find their happy together, if they can just get out of their own way.

I loved how it addressed the very real pressure and burden that social media can become for this generation. It can bring us so many good things, but it all comes at a cost. B.K. Borison skillfully incorporates that truth into Beckett and Evie's story without feeling like she's trying to make a point.

If you love small town and/or second chance romances with a hefty dose of sexual tension, definitely pick up In the Weeds. It's out now in paperback and also (currently) available to read as an e-book on Kindle Unlimited.

Okay first of all we love a man who loves animals. I enjoyed this book but I felt like as the book went on the chemistry felt very forced which was frustrating. Overall I still really enjoyed this.

✨ Review ✨ In the Weeds by B.K. Borison; Narrated by Pippa Jayne; Dane Anderson

This follow-up to B.K. Borison's adorable Lovelight Farms might somehow be even more adorable. Following tough but kitten-loving Christmas tree farmer Beckett and social media mogul Evie, this book is a delight. Still set on the Christmas tree farm, this book shows us fields of flowers, icy cold lakes, a stray baby duck, and a full range of emotions.

I loved how this built on the first book but still operated in its own sphere. I definitely think reading these in order helped me appreciate this book more because the first book filled in lots of subtle context (like the grumbly coffee shop owner who's up to even more of her hi-jinx here).

This book was utterly bingeable, and I loved the dual POV audio narration. If you loved Lovelight Farms, this should be a solid read again for you!

This is a very sweet and spicy romance. I loved how grumpy yet caring Beckett’s character was and had no problem seeing why Evie fell for him. No problem at all. It was a well paced story and I did enjoy it.

What I would have enjoyed more is if their first two meetings had been more detailed. They happened very quickly in the beginning of the story and it was too rushed for me. I really would have liked more details about how things evolved in their first meeting, especially. It made it hard to understand what each of them were really feeling when they happened by chance to meet again. I felt too disconnected as a reader and couldn’t engage emotionally with what they were going through seeing one another again.

Overall it was an enjoyable read and the whole cast of characters were warm and personable. I’d definitely be up for reading the other two books in this series.

Beautifully written, a simple story that sadly goes on way too long. Beckett Porter and Evie St. James meet at a bar and have a weekend fling something neither has done before. Months later they meet again. Evie is a huge social media influencer. She comes to his tiny town of Inglewild and Lovelight Farms as part of her promotional work. Jumping a little further in time Evie is burned out and needing a break and she returns to Inglewild. Somehow the only spare room available is at Becketts place that use to be a hunting lodge.

Beckett is sweet as the grumpy, kitten loving, tree farmer. Though never stated he is clearly neurodivergent with sound and crowd sensitivity. Evie is wonderful as she integrates herself not only into his home but into the town itself. She makes friends with everyone giving her time freely to the town that welcomes her. I love the descriptions of the townspeople, the phone tree, trivia night and the farm. And of course eventually Evie and Beckett are getting hot and steamy again. But with all the beautiful writing and descriptions not much happens. The final miscommunication is ridiculously silly. He didn’t see her note or open her room door to see if she’d packed? Really? Three minutes of conversation could have saved a need for an out of place for him grand gesture. I actually liked the characters but the story felt about 80 pages too long. And for me the payoff wasn’t worth the prolonged build up. For all the hours and hours they spend conversing for them to never talk about their feelings is weak. As the book felt more and more prolonged my rating slipped from 4 to 3 stars.

I listened to the audio book and the narrators were great. I especially enjoyed Pippa Jayne’s reading as Evie. It is nice that Evie is a person of color but other than her mentioning her darker skin tone there no nationality or ethnicity, so I wouldn’t say it is strong representation. I would like to read Lovelight Farms which is the first book in the series as I liked the story enough to read more from the author. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an audiobook in exchange for a review.

3.5⭐️In the Weeds was written by B.K. Borison and narrated by Pippa Jayne and Dane Anderson. Pippa wasn’t my favorite voice but I really liked Dane.
This was my first book by BKB and I just want to say I love the cover. It gave me that feel good, happy romance feel. This was book 2 and it’s right in the middle of the series. It can be read as a stand-alone. It starts as a 2 night stand and ends up putting these to in a awkward situation. After the beginning I felt like it dragged a little and their not communicating drove me crazy. But over all this was cute and I got my HEA.

IN THE WEEDS was really cute, and I enjoyed this companion follow-up to LOVELIGHT FARMS! I think book 1 is my favorite in the series so far, but Beckett and Evelyn were too precious for this world.

A reunited one night stand turned something more, I loved watching the emotional progression of Beckett and Evelyn’s relationship. I also appreciated seeing Beckett’s sensory processing disorder represented on the page - I love that sweet soul so much.

This book’s tropes include: meddling small town setting, big city girl heads to a small town, second chance (ish), opposites attract, only one cabin/forced proximity, and more swoony goodness.

3.75 stars, rounded up

A popular social media influencer, who targets benefiting small businesses, finds herself taking a hiatus from work/social media in a small town and living with a previous fling, who is a cinnamon roll hiding inside of a grumpus. He is the small town recluse who works on a family run farm.

I am a sucker for small town vibes in books as well as the grumpy guy who is actually a cinnamon roll. So this story started off on a good foot for me. It was a quick, fun. The main characters take time to learn more about one another, outside of their brief fling from the past, and learn to trust one another. There is a fair amount of miscommunication.

I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Pippa Jayne and Dane Anderson, via NetGalley. An advanced reader's copy of this audiobook was provided to me via NetGalley by Dreamscape Media in exchange for an honest review.

Another great book by D.K. Borison!! This one left me smiling! In the Weeds is the second book in the Lovelight series. I recommend reading/listening to Lovelight Farms first as the characters in this book are introduced there. But, you could read this as a stand-alone, but Lovelight Farms was so good, why not read that then this! You'll thank me!

Beckett Porter and Evelyn (Evie) St. James met in a bar in Maine. They spent a steamy two-day hookup and Beckett thought he would never see Evie again. But here is where the first book in the series comes in handy, they unexpectedly meet again when Evie, an influencer goes to Lovelight farms (in first book) for a social media contest which Stella (from 1st book) entered.

The attraction is still there as is an awkwardness over how to react when you never expect to run into the person who rocked your world again. In this book, Evie wants a break from being an influencer. She wants to relax and unwind and decides to return to Inglewild, the town which charmed her when she went to Lovelight Farms. There is literally no room at the inn and Beckett offers her the use of his spare bedroom. Enter angst, longing, and sexy times.

This as they say, is where the magic happens. Both characters are endearing and extremely likeable. They are both attracted to each other and trying to figure out how to be in a relationship together. She is an influencer, and he is a farmer. She is outgoing and he has social anxiety disorder. They also have a whole town rooting for them! I loved their journey and how the author threw in a few cute animals as well!

This was a second chance romance that did not disappoint. I have been wowed by the two books in the series that I have read and look forward to the next one.

Evie is feeling burned out and needs a break, so she goes on a mission to find her happy, starting with heading to Lovelight Farms, the last place she remembers feeling at peace—and also where Beckett, one the partners that owns the farm, who also happens to be the star of Evie’s fantasies after their one night stand months ago. In the Weeds is really sweet and I loved going back to Lovelight Farms. While technically a standalone, I think this definitely does better after reading the first in the series and the characters are just so lovely and it’s like a hug going back to Lovelight Farms! I will say this one did take me a little bit to get into. It felt like a lot of setting up Evie’s journey and I was on the edge of my seat waiting for moments of her and Beckett. But once those moments became more frequent, I was just enamored with them. Their chemistry is good. The banter of this grump/sunshine pair is strong and it’s steamy and fun. The miscommunication in the book did get to me a little, but I loved the romantic gestures in this and the quiet moments of these two together in this forced proximity romance. Beckett too is broody and charming and just so endearing, I really enjoyed him as a male lead. And I just absolutely loved Evie’s journey to find her happy. It was so sweet and I love the idea of taking a step back to refind yourself. The small town in this book too is so fun, with some Stars Hollow vibes and their antics are just funny and meddling and I loved it. This book is beautifully written and just a fun continuation in the Lovelight Farm series and I can’t wait for the next one!

Evelyn St. James and Beckett Porter are complete opposites but some explosive chemistry leads to a wild weekend fling. After returning home, Evelyn finds herself restless and unhappy with her job as a social media influencer. She longs for the joy she had in short time with Becket. Soon she’s drawn back to Lovelight and its irresistibly grumpy farmer.

In the Weeds is a delicious opposites attract romance with just the right amount of tension and pining. There is a definite lust at first sight between Evelyn and Beckett but their true feelings don’t hide for very long. Evelyn’s return to Lovelight is her opening to both a second-chance with Beckett but another chance to re-evaluate her life and her work. As the main characters grow closer they find a simple balance in one another.

I like that we see glimpses of the main characters from the series’ first book but not enough to deter from this book's storyline. I would have liked a little more backstory on the main characters, especially Beckett. I hope we see more of his family in the future.

The audiobook is dual-narrated by Pippa Jayne and Dane Anderson. Dual narration is always appreciated and they did a fantastic job. Both narrators are well suited to their roles and really bring out the emotions of the characters.

In the Weeds is the second book in the Lovelight series and while it could be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading Lovelight Farms first for context.

I voluntarily listened to and reviewed an advanced copy of this audiobook. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media!

Unfortunately, I don’t think I was the right reader for this romance book. However, I don’t believe that means it won’t be the perfect book for you.

I tend to prefer my romances to be slower burns and closed door which this was not. Those who enjoy spice in their contemporary romances will really like this book! I did really love the representation of social anxiety in Beckett. He was a darling love interest and definitely my favorite character. His family members were also very lovable side characters and added both comedy and wisdom to the story.

The pacing was a bit quick for my liking so those who don’t like to wait will be pleased. The narration was very easy to listen to and I did enjoy both narrators for Evelyn and Beckett. I’m grateful for the opportunity to listen to an advanced copy of this audiobook and hope it finds its way to the readers who will love this charming small town romance.

This was so beautifully written. I felt like I was there watching this all fold out between the characters. I absolutely LOVED the chemistry between the two main characters. It is such a great story that keeps you reeled in to see how it all unfolds! Beckett will forever be my favorite character! The narrators are absolutely SPOT on. I think they made this story even more real to me.

I received this audiobook from NetGalley and the publishers to read and review. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully reading/listening to this book.

I personally enjoyed Lovelight Farms better than In the Weeds when reading the text copies of the books. With that said, I do think that the audiobook recording of In The Weeds is very, very good. I loved getting dual narrators for Beckett & Evie’s points of view, and the narration casting really brings their stories and voices to life. I am so happy that these books are getting audiobook options, as someone who prefers audio to physical/text copies!

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced listener copy in exchange for an honest review.

Beckett met Evelyn in Maine one weekend and after their steamy fling, they could not forget about each other, but she had left him in the hotel alone the next morning. When she appears at his farm to run the social media contest, he is shocked. He had no idea that she was a social media influencer who has a huge following and can help the farm. When she leaves again, Beckett decides that he will get over her once and for all. That is. until Evelyn decides to go back to Inglewild and Lovelight Farms to find her happy and disconnect from work.

When the inn and all hotels are booked up and she runs into Beckett, he offers her a place to stay in one of his guest rooms. They tip toe around each other until they finally start to form a comfortable routine and friendship...but it slowly turns into more.

In the Weeds gives lots of steamy scenes between the grumpy farmer and gorgeous social media influencer. It is a standalone book, but there is a Lovelight Farms series that focuses on other characters.

I adored this. I fell in love with the Inglewood crew in lovelight farms and I’m never gonna look back. Beckett is somehow goofy and geeky and Quiet and so so hot and spicy at the same time 🤭 and evie was so freaking sunny and cute. I want to bottle her up and keep her around for a rainy day. the narration was amazing !!! I loved everything about this.
