Take one neurodiverse introverted farmer, add in a TikTok celebrity, and then sit back and watch the fireworks.
This was a fun story about two completely different individuals who found the other half of themselves in someone who challenged them to be a better version of themselves.
As with the first book in the series, my one complaint is the explicit sexual content that seems completely unnecessary and detracts from the beauty of the story itself.
But if that doesn't bother you, this story is well worth picking up. While it's part of a series and temporally overlaps the first book in the series somewhat, it can easily be read as a standalone.
Thank you to B.K. Borison, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the advance review copy.

I loved this book so much. The writing, the characters, the atmosphere. The longing! If you haven’t read this series yet I highly recommend it - it’s so good!
.
Everything was so beautiful. I want to go visit Inglewild. Beckett and Evie were so wonderful and I loved learning more about them and seeing them develop.

Pick this one up if you enjoy:
Second chance romance
Mutual pining
A great cast of characters
Beautiful, atmospheric writing that makes you feel like you are inside of the book

I know I will be rereading this book again.

I didn’t realize just how much I would fall in love with these characters and this little town when I got the audiobook ARC of this romance! Can I move here please? From the two MCs being everything I’ve ever wanted in a romance to a noisy/hilarious small town I could not get enough! I definitely didn’t realize this was a series of stand-alones all based in the most perfect small town ever so I’m now on a mission to read the other two ASAP! Also the male narrator has to be one of my favorites of ALL TIME!
Thanks NetGalley and Dreamscape media for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook ARC!

This book, in any format, is an utter masterpiece! I initially read it when it first released and haven't looked back since. When I had initially reviewed it, I had said: "Once in a blue moon, a book arrives just as you need it most—sprinkled through every line with the words you want to hear and characters you find yourself closely relating to, it effortlessly brings magic into your ordinary day. That’s the case with B.K. Borison’s latest novel in the Lovelight series, In The Weeds." And the same goes for audiobooks. It's magic.

Evie and Beckett's story was so cute, it gave all the feels. They were both so into each other, accepting each other flaws and all.
I liked how they were both going through their own journey, Beckett, by getting out of his comfort zone and opening himself up to Evie. While Evie was trying to find her happy, because her life/job was not inspiring her anymore.
What I appreciated about this story was the message that it was ok to shift your priorities or any other aspect of your life if you were feeling stuck, uninspired, burned out.
I

“It’s okay if it takes you some time to find it again. And it’s okay if you find it just to lose a bit of it here and there. That’s the beauty of it, yeah? It comes and goes. Not every day is a happy one and it shouldn’t be. It’s in the trying, I think.”
Dream Scape Media did an amazing job in narrating this beautiful story. I was held captive by every word spoken. They lifted the words right off the page and allowed me to be lost in the world of Lovelight while going through my daily tasks. Both narrators did a spectacular job at capturing the inflection in every word, making sure their voices held the perfect tone for every moment.
In the Weeds is like being curled up with a warm cup of coffee in your hands, cozy socks on your feet, and the person you love by your side.
It's heartwarming... it's comforting...It's just absolutely perfect.
I'm 100% certain that B.K Borision is a closet magician because she has created pure magic with her words once again. The details. The beauty. The warmth. 🥰 The looks. The talks. The notes. *ugh my heart * The power of community. The strength of family. The happiness in the simple things. This book completely captivated me!!!
In the Weeds isn't just a simple love story, it's a story of self-love & self-care. A story of learning to take a step back, listen to your heart, and find what makes you happy. B.K Borisons words are insightful & honest as she takes you through Evie & Beckett's story.
“Trying to be happy is like—it’s like telling a flower to bloom.” He crosses his ankles and drags his palm against his stubble. “You can’t make yourself be happy. But you can be open to it. You can trust yourself enough to feel it when you stumble on it.”
Beckett & Evie are everything. She is the sunshine to his grumpy. Both selfless and stubborn in their way our OTP learn that sometimes in love you need to be selfish.
I'm so excited for those who use audiobooks as their form of diving into stories to get to experience the magic of BK Borisons words!
I highly recommend, reading In the Weeds in any format! This book is my favorite of 2022

I absolutely loved reading the physical copy of this book when it first came out and I loved the audiobook just as much the second time around! The narration was excellent. Loved the dual POV and the the narrators to match. I loved Beckett & Evie even more this time around. Rooting for them forever & ever. Highly recommend

Beckett. Is there any doubt in your eyes that his love story was going to be anything less than amazing?! But this review is specifically for the audiobook. And yeaaaahhhhh the narrator’s voice is gravely goodness and I can’t imagine a voice more perfect for our favorite grumpy farmer. Our heroine, Evie, was great as well, but nothing beats that husky caramel voice of Beckett. The Lovelight series is an absolute favorite. 4.5 ✨
Thank you NetGalley & the publisher for this arc audiobook in exchange for my review.

I am currently trying to figure out why it took me so long to read this book because it was lovely.
Overall, the romance/plot was honestly relatively average, but our love interest was well beyond average. Beckett Porter deserves the whole world. That man is one of the sweetest, most wholesome MMCs I've read in a very long time. This man has four cats and a duck. He is shy and sensitive and sweet and has so, so much love to give.
Another area where this novel really shines is the social anxiety rep. Beckett struggles with social situations, especially when there are crowds/loud noises/anything that can cause overstimulation. I really appreciated this representation, because it was so very real. Beckett's experiences very closely mirrored my own, making him that much more relatable for me. Additionally, his social anxiety is not viewed as something he must "overcome," but rather something he deals with each day. While Beckett must find ways to cope, he isn't portrayed as being less-than or as needing to change anything about himself as a result of his anxiety, which I really appreciated.
I'd definitely recommend this book if you like the following tropes:
- slow burn
- small town
- grumpy x sunshine
- cinnamon roll love interests

Instagram influencer Evelyn visits Lovelight Farms to evaluate it for a contest she is hosting. The last thing she expected is to run into the man she had a one night stand with at a bar, Beckett. But there he is. In all of his tall, broad glory. Evelyn is feeling listless and directionless in her job as an influencer and decides to stay at the farm for a while longer, even after the contest ends. She ends up staying at Beckett's roomy house. Like two magnets, they cannot stay away from each other and soon fall into a romance that is so hot, it might just burn them alive. As they both face fears of wading deeper into commitment, Evie makes career moves, and Beckett feels like he's hopeless and left in the dust. Will they end up together in the end? How will they navigate their vastly different worlds? Can they do it together?
It's hard to follow up a book that was the perfection of Lovelight Farms. This one tried really hard, but didn't quite get there for me. It was still a cute romance and the steam was great, but there was just something missing for me. I can't put my finger on what exactly it was, but nevertheless, I still enjoyed Evie and Beckett's story and loved the second installment of romance in this small community. I'm excited to pick up the third and fourth books in this series!

Loved it! This is an absolutely perfect fall read with everything you could ask for: small-town charm, intense chemistry and some steamy scenes! This one reminded me a lot of Gilmore Girls and I think fans of the show will absolutely devour this book!
Narrators were both great! And I enjoyed the dual narration/POV.

I was really excited to start to listen to this book after I read Lovelight Farms. I FLEW through it and really enjoyed it and was excited to get Beckett’s story.
However, this book fell a little flat for me and I don’t know if I would have felt differently if I read it instead of listening to it.
Beckett was the perfect grumpy cinnamon roll hero. I felt like his character really carried the book. I did not think that Evelyn was the right Heroine for him. I really just wanted more chemistry from them and maybe wanted a little more growth from her.
I also don’t know that Pippa Jayne was the right narrator for me for this one.
I would give this one a try, but I would read it versus listen to it! I’m definitely going to be picking up Mixed Signals!

Loved loved love this book! I enjoyed the narration and the story was exactly what I was looking for! I loved the small town vibes! A few moments even felt like gilmore girls to me! 100% recommend!

In the Weeds is the second novel in the Lovelight series that follows the first novel, Lovelight Farms. While this novel features a new couple, there are callbacks to the first novel, so I believe it is best to read them in order. Lovelight Farms in Inglewild, Maine is owned by Stella Bloom with her business partners Beckett Porter and Layla Dupree. As readers followed Stella with her own story in the first novel, it is time for Beckett to have the spotlight. Layla will follow in book three with her own, too.
Beckett and social media influencer, Evelyn (Evie) St. James had an unforgettable one-night stand only to reunite unexpectedly months later. When they meet again, neither can forget their brief time together and greatly wish for it to continue. With the dual POV, the reader follows each character as they pine for each other. This was an amazing addition as the first novel is solely from Stella’s POV. Beckett was a lot easier to connect with and follow on his journey compared to Evie. His reserved nature that comes across as the grumpy half of the grumpy/sunshine pairing mixed with anxiety and love of animals made him a very likable character. Evie’s feeling of burnout and not finding as much joy in your dream as before was relatable and I enjoyed her journey to find her happy place.
The small-town setting shines in this story as it was easy to picture a picturesque place filled with a tight-knit community. It was a nice backdrop to Evie and Beckett’s story. As for the romance, the physical attraction was very apparent from start to finish, but it was sometimes difficult to connect to an emotional one. For me, I needed more to figure out why the two longed for each other during their time apart aside from missing the other’s body. For me, the two characters did not connect deeply enough through their interactions to warrant them wanting to be in a relationship.
Overall, I love the concept of the second chance romance set in a small town. I love the circumstances that brought the characters together again and how they had great physical chemistry. I do wish that Evie’s reason for leaving the first time was spelled out a little more as I feel that I missed it while reading. One small detail is Beckett farming peppers and there are miniscule tidbits he gets wrong. While they do not matter in the grand scheme, it is just a random piece to someone like me who knows the information. The audiobook was nicely done by the narrators as they did a great job portraying each character. With audiobooks it can sometimes be difficult to distinguish between inner thoughts and events, but I felt I could follow along okay with this one. As Layla seems like a fun character, I think I will give her story a try in the future.
**I give a special thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to read this novel. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.**

I'm sorry to say I won't be able to give feedback on this title. It has absolutely nothing to do with the book. I've loved this author's work — I even pre-ordered the print version of In the Weeds, though I haven't gotten around to reading it yet — but the experience of listening to audiobooks in the NetGalley app is absolutely miserable. I'm not an audiobook consumer who can listen at 1x speed and when trying anything above that, the audio sounds tinny, choppy, and almost mechanical. It's a shame.
I do have to leave a star rating to send this feedback, but I won't be leaving a rating or review on any retail platforms or my blog/socials for the audiobook since I was unable to get through it. My problem isn't with the book or narrators, but with the app.

I think I may have played myself by reading this one before reading Lovelight Farms. Maybe because I hadn’t read the backstory, I didn’t find myself very attached to the characters, which left me less invested in their relationship. What it lacked in the swoon-factor for me, though, it made up for with the adorable small town and its easy-to-love community. It felt like Stars Hollow, and I loved it! The HEA was also very heartwarming, so overall, I’d give this book 3.5 stars, and I have every intention of reading Lovelight Farms.

This was a cute and charming romance. The characters were sweet and likeable. The premise was pretty unique with Evelyn coming to help rescue businesses.
I also appreciated that the audiobook was voiced by two voice actors, rather than having a woman imitate a man's voice.

Sometimes it takes a second chance to get things right, and the result is even sweeter because of the struggle. I'm talking about the couple in this book (which I LOVED!), but I'm also referring to my own reading experience. Back when this first released, I tried jumping into the series without reading the first book, and I was so confused that I ended up DNFing this story and setting it aside in disappointment. The time jumps at the start of In The Weeds threw me off, and I spent more time trying to figure out what was going on than I did enjoying the quiet, contemplative tone of the story. A few months later, the book was still lingering in my brain, so I decided to start the series in the intended order... and things went SO much better the second time around. In the first book (Lovelight Farms), the small town community is introduced, as well as the terrific cast of characters. We see little peeks at the relationship at the heart of In The Weeds, and the timeline makes a whole lot more sense. By the time I turned the first page of In The Weeds the second time around, I was already itching to read the love story - and it resonated with me in a completely different (MUCH better) way.
The story follows Beckett, a sweetheart of a farmer who always seems to put everyone else first. Beckett loves both his family and his community, and he shows that every single day through his actions. So when Evelyn comes back to town, it's a reminder of the one weekend Beckett put himself first - a magical, steamy weekend with an enchanting stranger. A weekend he hasn't forgotten in the months since. But Evelyn has already left without a word twice before, and Beckett has no interest in putting his heart on the line a third time. However, there's something different this time; Evelyn is drifting, no longer content with her career, and in need of a little happy in her life. Somehow, Beckett finds himself offering to share his home with the woman who holds his heart in her hands, and they soon find themselves connecting on a level they haven't in the past.
This is the kind of love story that requires some patience, but the incredibly romantic breadcrumbs along the way are wholly worth the effort. Sprinkled throughout the story are these little moments of intimacy and emotion, delving deeper every time. Slow burn goodness, despite the initial fire between these two. I grew to love Beckett in Lovelight Farms, and he really shines in this - I can't remember a time when a gruff, tattooed farmer was ever so ADORABLE. Beckett stole my heart in a big way, and I loved that both characters worked on themselves as they slowly grew their emotional connection. It's such a quiet and beautiful romance that it requires the reader's full attention to appreciate all of the pieces, which is why reading the series in order is very helpful. It takes awhile for Beckett and Evelyn to figure out each other's love languages, to trust in the connection, and to truly bond before giving in to the chemistry that sparks between them. They make each other better, and watching them find their happy was so fulfilling. And when they do finally give in to the spark? It was delicious. I loved it the whole way through.
Audio note: I liked the audio, it grew on me! It's the same narrator as Lovelight Farms (Pippa Jayne), whose voice I wasn't sure I liked initially. Having just listened to both books back-to-back, I was already used to her voice when starting this one. It's got a soothing tone and an older vibe than Evelyn gives off, but it's also easy to listen to and a definite upgrade from simply reading the text. This book is dual perspective, so we also get a male narrator (Dane Anderson), whose voice also took some getting used to. He seems to be newer to narration, and it shows. While I like the tone of his voice quite a bit, he sounds a bit robotic and monotonous at times. I almost wanted to speed up the audio, but the laidback, small town feel resonates better at a slower pace. Once acclimated to the narration, I had a great time listening to this. The story lends itself perfectly to audio, and the slow burn romance works well for a workday listen. The runtime is a little longer than I can get through in a single day, but I was eager to get back to the story every time I set it down. I definitely enjoyed the audio.

4.5 / 5 <3
eviebeckett i love you so much. it would've been a 5 star but i feel like the 3rd act break-up was so unnecessary but i will say i LOVE that the miscommunication / lack of communication was at least mentioned or talked about. i got this arc but i haven't read lovelight farms, so i'm super excited to read that one (was just gifted a physical copy from a friend so i'm happy to start that soon!!)
anyway, bk borison i love you so much now thank u
synopsis:
One incredible weekend in Maine, and Beckett Porter is officially a distracted man. He’s not unfamiliar with hot and heavy flings. He knows how it goes. But Evie wove some sort of magic over him during their tumble in the sheets. He can’t stop thinking about her laugh, her hand pressed flat against his chest, her smiling mouth at his neck, her eyes, her legs.
So when she suddenly appears on his farm as part of a social media contest, he is confused. He had no idea that the sweet and sexy woman he met at a bar is actually a global phenomenon: social media influencer Evelyn St. James. When she disappears again, Beckett resolves to finally forget her and move on.
But Evelyn St. James has a problem. Feeling disconnected from her work and increasingly unhappy, she’s trying to find her way back to something real. She returns to the last place she was happy, Lovelight Farms and the tiny town of Inglewild.
It has absolutely nothing to do with the hot farmer she spent two incredible nights with—nothing at all.
In The Weeds is a sweet and steamy second-chance romance about finding your happiness. It features a grumpy farmer, a no-nonsense social media influencer, a small town of busybodies, and four very cute kittens. This is the second book in a series of interconnected standalones following the three Lovelight owners.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This story took me a while to get into but it absolutely delivered. I wish I had listened to Lovelight Farms before this one (the first book in the series) because I think there was a lot that I missed about the farm, the town, and the people that I would have benefited from. Listening to this book first (as the second in the series) left me confused about a lot of the previous events and world-building that I assume were put together in the first book. The town is very Stars Hollow which I'm always down for.
Regardless of that, I really enjoyed Evelyn and Beckett's romance and how they navigated building their romance after a one-night stand. The romance was really great and this was basically a Hallmark movie but with characters with actual chemistry and sexuality.
I look forward to listening to more books in this series and I'm happy that Goodreads is telling me there are two more on the horizon after this one and Lovelight Farms.
