Unfortunately this book was just not for me.

I'm not sure it was one specific reason either but a bunch of different ones combined.

1. I feel like I was having a really hard time connecting with the characters. I was jumping back and forth a lot and I didn't feel like it was very cohesive.

2. The male narrator was kind of bugging me. I felt like her was a little monotone and was articulating the sentences weird. Making certain parts of the sentence important when I felt like it didn't need to be.

3. I was honestly just bored, it was taking way to long to get to anything interesting and by that point I had lost interest so I was only listening for the sake of listening, not because I enjoyed it.

In the end, maybe this book would be better to read physically instead of in an audiobook, but for me this book fell really flat. I wanted a whimsical story about a Christmas tree farm, and love, and it took way to long to get there. I wanted a Hallmark movie in a book and I just don't feel like I got that.

A super fun follow up to Lovelight Farms following Beckett and Evie’s story. Overall I very much enjoyed the book, however, it was missing a bit of the spark I got from Lovelight. There was so much miscommunication that I wanted to pull out my hair. I also found Evie difficult to relate to and found her character slightly unreal. Although that may have been due to the narrators, they made the story seem a bit lifeless honestly. I can’t stand feeling that I’m being read to and that’s how this felt, once I switched to the kindle version I found myself better able to enjoy the story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to listen.

Book Review: If we’ve talked books for longer than five minutes you know about my obsession with Lovelight Farms. You know I have this deep connection to the book and I have probably already tried convincing you to read it. When I heard In the Weeds was happening (shortly after finishing LF) I was excited. I’d fallen for Beckett immediately and couldn’t wait to get his story.

I was, however, also anxious. I was so afraid that I would come back to this little world and that the first visit was SO incredible that this second one just wouldn’t live up.

I was wrong. It was like being welcomed home. Within the first 5 pages I felt the magic of Becca’s words start swirling around me and transporting me back to my favorite place.

Another confession? During LF I really thought that it would be Beckett and Layla. When I found out it would be Beckett and Evelyn, I wasn’t sure how on board I would be.

Reading In the Weeds made it impossible not to fall in love with Evie. She and Beckett together? I die. It was both so sweet and SO hot🔥.

Becca weaves magic with her words. I can’t say that enough. There was no part of this book that didn’t seep into my heart.

“It’s about the trying. Settling into the happy when you find it, being okay when you don’t.“

I found my happy in this book. I hope you will too.

Audiobook:
I enjoyed the dual narrators to match the book. I think Beckett’s narrator felt truer to the character than Evie’s but it was not too distracting.

Having read both the physical book and listened to the audiobook, I have to say that Becca’s words resonate more with me in written form. Overall, I would recommend them both.

Oh, I fell in love with this book so quickly! I loved the small town charm and the chemistry between Evelyn and Beckett. I loved that Borison included a male lead with sensory issues, and that the female lead understood and supported him through those issues. I'm going to say this series is a must-read for romance readers!

Read this if you liked Lovelight Farms or the Bergman Brothers books.

It's possible I found a new auto-buy author... This was adorable. I listened to the audio version and read on kindle. 100% recommend!

Thank-you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the chance to review this ALC.

Story: 5/5
Narration: 4/5

I'm completely smitten with Borison's writing!
She's amazing! I loved Beckett from the moment he appeared in Lovelight Farms and after that hint of his past with Evie I was so excited to see their story play out.

I really liked Evie's arc in this story. The idea of trying to find happiness was so honest and real. I liked that although she struggled to make the decision of leaving what she was doing behind it never over shadowed her goal of finding happiness.

Beckett, oh Beckett how PERFECT is he! He's just grumpy and lovable and just too pure! He stole my heart from the moments with his family, with Stella and Layla, the kitties and the duck and of course with Evie. He was such an interesting character. He's so selfless that in the end he needs to as for what he wants.

Evie and Beckett together are lovely. They compliment each other so well. I loved their quiet moments. The moments where they took care of one another.

I loved the cameos from Stella and Luke, Layla and Beck's family.
We get a few glimpses at what will come next with Caleb and Stella and maybe more *hint-hint*

Overall I absolutely loved this book.

Narration:
The narration was good overall. Both narrators are new to me and I liked them fine.
Pippa Jayne did a great job with Evie giving her that sunny disposition that the character needs to be true to her character.

Dane Anderson took me a while to get used to. Not that he was bad, he was just a little emotionless at the start. I warmed up to the performance after a few chapters.

But overall I think the audiobook is a great addition to an already beautiful novel.

Love the cover design of this one! So cute. I really like the redesigned cover for love light farms as well!

I enjoyed this one a bit more than Love Light Farms but not by much. I see what the author was aiming for but the mcs just didn't connect with each other or with me how I was hoping.

In the Weeds is the first book I've read by B.K. Borison, and it will not be my last. I listened to the audiobook via the NetGalley app, which I'm not sure I would recommend. Usually, I love the audiobook version, but I think this book needs to be read. Once I focused on the story instead of the narration, I realized this is a beautifully written love story. Beckett was my favorite. He's an introverted tattoo gentle giant who wears his heart on his sleeve. He adopts a baby duck, for goodness sake, and it's adorable. I need to read the rest of the books in this series to stay in Lovelight Farms even longer.

Thank you, Dreamscape Media, for this complimentary audiobook for my honest review.

Another winner from Borison! I absolutely loved LOVELIGHT FARMS and this second in the series, did not disappoint! Beckett is the handsome star of this show for me with his kittens and duckling and cinnamon roll personality - I just LOVED him!

I was fortunate enough to get an early audiobook copy and I have to say that I wasn’t a huge fan of the narrators. So, I did find myself switching to the ebook version available on KU.

This was an enjoyable just a hookup, second chance romance.

I have not read Lovelight Farms the first in this series, and after reading In the Weeds, I do wish I had read them in order. I think it would have helped give me an even better understanding of all the characters and people you encounter in the town. I did feel a little bit like I was missing out on some things.

Evelyn St. James is burnt out from her job as a social media influencer. She wants to find her happy again but she has no idea where to start. After an intense two night hookup with grumpy farmer Beckett Porter, she can't stop thinking about him. She ends up on assignment at his farm and when she decides she needs a break from it all she heads back to the last place she felt happy, Lovelight Farms.

Beckett does not like social interactions and prefers to be outdoors than with people. After his encounter with Evelyn, he can't stop thinking about her. When she keeps showing up in his town, he can't keep avoiding how much he wants her.

This was instant lust that turned into a slow burn. I enjoyed the small town and cast of characters in this book. It was fun to see how involved everyone is with all the people who live there. The town phone tree was so funny, and I liked how lovely the community was. The chemistry between Evelyn and Beckett was present from the beginning, and their slow burn was almost unbearable because you just wanted them to admit to their feelings and be together!

I want to read Lovelight Farms and I know the series is continuing and I look forward to getting back to this quaint small town and all the characters.

Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ALC in exchange for my honest review.

This was such a cute read. I love that it’s set in the same “world” as Lovelight Farms but follows two different people. You still get a little dash of the characters from the first book but a whole new love story and characters to swoon over. I loved the small town setting, I loved the dual POV, and I loved Beckett with my whole heart. I really liked Evelyn and her career and how she was kind of questioning and discovering herself and what she wants. I think that is so relatable and great to see, especially in a character that’s more “established” in life. I can’t wait for Mixed Signals!

A few months ago, Evelyn found herself at Lovelight Farms for her job and she ran into Beckett, the man she had hooked up with for one incredible weekend a few weeks back. Now, she’s questioning every aspect of her life and eager to find what makes her happy, so she’s going back to the last place she felt it, Lovelight Farms. But it’s not because of him, surely not, it’s the place. But she hasn’t been able to forget him, and he sure hasn’t been able to forget her.

Tropes: second chance, grumpy/sunshine ish, small town

"Did you find your happy today?" I did. In the Weeds by B.K. Borison was a love letter to spring, happiness, new beginnings, and change.

3.5 rounded up to a 4. // This was a beautiful book. Evie and Beckett were both incredibly likable characters and I found myself rooting for them every step of the way. I found Evie's struggle with burnout and her desire to truly find her happy to be very relatable. I also LOVED the setting, the characters, and the writing. It was beautiful and I am eager to read the first book in this series.

That said, I just finished and I find myself not feeling much of anything. There were no tears, no overwhelming emotion, no desire to be listening to this story every second of the day. I really liked Evie and Beckett, but I don't know if I'll be thinking of them at all a week from now. Truthfully, I think it's because I listened to the audiobook rather than reading the book. I have a feeling I would have felt much more if I had read the words on a page and been able to tab some of the moments.

As far as the audiobook, I really enjoyed Dane Anderson as Beckett. His voice was fantastic and he fit the character I was envisioning. While I enjoyed Pippa Jayne and thought she was a SPECTACULAR narrator, I never felt her voice fit Evie. To be honest, she seemed a bit older than I expected. The narrating was also very slow & drawn out. I had to listen on 1.75x speed.

Tropes & Things I Enjoyed!
-Second Chance Romance
-Grumpy x Sunshine
-Forced Proximity
-Small Town Setting
-Dual POV
-Journey to Self-Discovery & Happiness
-Mental Health Rep: Burnout, Social Anxiety, Sound Sensitivity
-Otis the Duck and some fat cats.

Some of my Favorite Quotes:
-“But that’s the thing about happiness, I guess. You can show whatever you want to the world and not feel a lick of it inside yourself.”
-“It’s okay to want different things,” she says. “People change. You’re allowed to change. Doing less doesn’t make you less.”

Thank you to Dreamscape Media & NetGalley for advanced access to the audiobook for an honest review.

I really loved getting lost listening to "In The Weeds" by B.K. Borison. This is the second book in the Lovelight Farm series. Becs really knows how to transport you right into Inglewild with her attention to detail. I really love how Becs is also taking us through a journey of the seasons and characters with each book.

Are you looking to find your happy? Well, maybe this book will bring some happiness to you! If second chance romances with a little bit of spice are your type of reads, you won't want to miss this series.

After a wild weekend in Maine, farmer Beckett Porter can't stop thinking about the woman he met during a weekend away. He's back at Lovelight Farms and shocked when the woman from Maine reappears, turns out she's none other than social media influencer Evelyn St. James. Once again, she disappears from his life. Evelyn is burnt out from the social media influencer life and decides she needs to find her happy. The last time she was happy, she was in the town of Inglewild, so she decides to return to the small town. Evelyn tells herself that the hot farmer has nothing to do with her finding her happy, or does he?

Thank you to Dreamscape Media for the advanced audiobook copy of In The Weeds.

When Evelyn St. James decides to take a step back from her thriving social media presence, she goes back to the last place she felt free and happy.
Which Brings her back to Lovelight Farms and back to Beckett Porter.

This was a cute romantic read with two very likeable characters. A classic second chance, grumpy/sunshine trope, it was easy to cheer these two on.

This was a sweet story. But it definitely left me wanting more. I enjoyed the setting and the main characters' backgrounds.

The absolute best thing about this book is the Lovelight cast of characters. I haven't read book 1, because I'm saving it for Christmas time, but I feel like I know this little town and all it's adorable fun characters. I want to be part of the phone tree and all the small town gossip.

Characters and setting both get an A+ and the love between our two MCs was sweet and tender with all those notes and quiet moments together on his porch., not to mention the kittens and duck thrown in to amp up the cute factor. But there was way too much miscommunication. There's even a bit where Evie's friend tells her it was likely just miscommunication and she's like nawww, can't be...

I wanted these characters to just get their shit together and be honest. If they were, this book would be a few chapters long since most of the book was them dragging their feet. It grew frustrating.

I can't wait to read Lovelight Farms and be properly introduced to this world, my review may be tainted because I did it backwards.

“In The Weeds is a sweet and steamy second-chance romance about finding your happiness. It features a grumpy farmer, a no-nonsense social media influencer, a small town of busybodies, and four very cute kittens.” (Portion of Goodreads synopsis)

Quick thoughts:
LIKES - I loved Lovelight Farms, so I had high hopes for this one and I definitely enjoyed it. I liked knowing more of the backstory between Evelyn and Beckett, as far as how they had met. I also really enjoyed how even though they were opposites, Evelyn and Becket really balanced each other out. And I really love the author’s writing style.

DISLIKES - I wanted more chemistry between Evelyn and Beckett.

Read if you like:
*second chance romance
*grumpy/sunshine
*dual POV
*forced proximity
*opposites attract
*small town setting
*a stand alone book that is also part of a series
*kittens!

Evie is a social media star who travels all over, exploring for a living. She is caught off guard when she is visiting Lovelight Farms for her social media business and comes face to face with Beckett. Her first ever one night (okay two night) stand a few months ago. When Beckett woke up after the second night, she had disappeared without a trace.
.
After her story at Lovelight Farms, she returns back to other aspects of her job for a few months. She starts to realizes that she is losing her spark. She decides to go and find her happy, and ends up at Lovelight Farms.
.
While I loved this story, I actually struggled at first to get into it. The voices took some time to get used to. It was .more getting use to Becketts voice when he was using Evie's voice and vice versa. It took .me about 20% to really get into it . I did love this story though. So good!

This is probably one of my favorite stories of all time, but I am struggling with this audio. The voice of the narrators are not at all how I pictured the characters and I think that makes it a bit tough to listen to. My handsome grump Bennett just sounds too robotic and stiff in this book, whereas I always imagined him sounding a bit like a grump but with a soft side touch. I also think Evie sounds a bit older than I was thinking she was and kind of slow and drawn out. Unfortunately, I'm not enjoying the audio, but i do love the story. 5 stars for the story, 3.5 for the audio version.

3.5 stars rounded down. Lovelight Farms was so fantastic, which set the bar for its sequel quite high. Unfortunately I thought the sequel was a “just ok” sunshine/grump love story. I liked the theme of finding happiness, but I didn’t find the storyline particularly unique or interesting.
