Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this Audible ARC in exchange for my fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Rating: 2.5 (Round 3) / 5 Stars
Publication: September 20, 2022
Series: Lovelight #2

“In the Weeds” by B.K. Borison, new author to this reader/listener was a good and somewhat enjoyable story. I understood the plot but found it hard to connect to the story as it started off a bit confusing and I became bored early on as the narration was not as engaging as I would have expected. Pippa Jayne and Dane Anderson are new narrators to this listener and their performance of the story felt as if it was being performed off the page and not with any emotion to draw this listener. I also did not feel any chemistry between the two main characters early on, even though it was a two-night stand. The H/h did not seem connected in their interactions to establish any form of a relationship. I think I will have to read this story versus the listen in order to get a better feel for this story.

"Trying to be happy is like--- it's like telling a flower to bloom...You can't make yourself be happy. But you can be open to it. You can trust yourself enough to feel it when you stumble on it."

I absolutely ADORE this book! Being able to listen to it come to life through the narrators was such a treat. Reading it was amazing, but hearing it for the second time around was great. I loved being back at Lovelight Farms!

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the audio arc for In The Weeds by BK Borison!

Evelyn is trying to find her happy after losing touch with her passions as a social media influencer. Since visiting Lovelight Farms a few months back (and running into an old one night stand, Beckett) was the last time she felt truly happy, she decides to start there. When she arrives and runs into Beckett once more, the story rolls from there.

I think this one would have been a solid 4 or 4.5 stars for me if it were not for Evelyn’s narrator, The voice she put on for male characters was distracting at best, a hindrance to the enjoyment of the story at worst. Looking beyond that performance, however, I felt that this book had a little too much “telling” rather than “showing.” I didn’t FEEL the tension, I was told there was tension. I didn’t FEEL like the characters were crazy in love, I was TOLD. Also any book that mentions TikTok will always make me cringe a tiny bit.

I loved Beckett as a character, and his struggles to connect with others made my heart ache. Evelyn was relatable and funny, but as mentioned above, her narrator nearly ruined her character for me.

Overall, I would give this one a 3.5/5.

Honestly I have to say this but this book was a snooze fest. I had it at my personal max audio speed and was bored to tears. Not a book I would recommend.

I just love this author and her books! The way she writes and describes things you can feel every emotion. Her stories are magic! Anxiously awaiting her next one.

I have mixed feelings on how I feel about this audiobook. On one hand it’s a very cute and sweet read, on the other I’m still not 100% sure how I felt about the narrators or the beginning of the story.

The story starts off a little rocky for me and hard to follow. It starts with a one night stand, but we’re not aware of what’s actually happening until we’re clued in after the fact. After that we take a step back and get a better perspective of what’s happening in the story and it moves more smoothly. The characters are adorable, if at times frustrating with their lack of communication skills.

Overall it was a cute read and I got used to the narrators. Would recommend it for anyone looking for a light hearted HEA.

DNF at 50 %.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my gifted audio copy of In the Weeds.

This book seemingly had a lot going for it. I've heard good things about this author and this series of books.

B.K. Borison is from DC and the setting of this book feels as though it takes place in a town similar to mine. ( I am from the Eastern Shore of Maryland.)

I loved the idea of this story and had very high hopes.

The narrators of In the Weeds (Pippa Jayne & Dane Anderson) did an amazing job. The audio played no part in my decision to put this book down.

It just was boring. I mean no disrespect to this author or fellow readers who may have read this book and loved it.

In the Weeds is marketed as a romantic comedy and the first half of this book is giving neither of those things. In my opinion.

I don't recommend this book.

There wasn't anything inevitably wrong with this book, not in the slightest.
It just didn't hold my interest and neither of the characters felt fully developed (at least to me).
There were cute things, but I found myself slugging through this.

This story is everything! Just the perfect amount of spice and storyline. Reminds me of Emily Henry's writing and I can't wait to read more from B.K. Borison. I love love love the audiobook performances also. Brilliant!

I’ve had the Lovelight Farms series on my radar for a while, so when I saw the In the Weeds audiobook available,, I jumped on the opportunity, and oh my god??????
Okay, so this story revolves around Evelyn (Evie), a burnt out social media star looking for her happy, and Beckett, a cinnamon roll of a man who works on a farm and takes care of everyone and everything, Evie included. The printed book and ebook have been out since April, but this was my first time experiencing this story.
I’ll start with the narrators. Pippa Jayne narrates Evie’s chapters, and she embodies Evie’s sunshine and goodness perfectly. Her voice is buttery smooth and i could listen to her forever. She made Evie really come to life for me; I’m not sure if just reading her parts would have given me as much as Pippa’s narration.
Dane Anderson as Beckett is next level; this might be the best cast audiobook role I’ve ever heard. I could feel the yearning in his voice, and I’m not sure that I’ve ever felt that before in an audiobook.
Beckett is the epitome of selfless, he would legitimately do anything for the ones he loves and I can’t express how much I appreciate the author for not making him jaded and angry. Beck has such a tender heart and I’m a sucker for that.
Evie and Beckett’s chemistry is palpable and it really makes you root for them. This is the kind of love you want. It’s gentle, it’s passionate, it’s loving, it’s respectful.
A spicy scene in the greenhouse?!?! Perfection.
I also just want to say, the groveling scene usually comes after the mmc is a dickhead. Beck isn’t a dickhead, but he grovels just the same when he thinks he’s lost Evie and it’s EVERYTHING to me.
“Come home, honey.” 😭😭😭😭😭
Needless to say, I loved this so much.

Story: 3.5 stars
Narration: 4 stars

I was excited to read the follow-up to Lovelight Farms which was one of my favorite reads of 2021. Evelyn St James is a social media influencer. When she meets Beckett Porter at a bar in Maine, they have a one-night stand that neither of them forget. They meet again when Evelyn is in Inglewild to judget Lovelight Farms for a contest. Months later, when Evelyn needs a break from work, she heads back to Inglewild chasing the feeling of happiness she had there.

Beckett Porter is such a great hero. He's loyal and kind, gentle and strong. Evelyn grew on me for sure, but I struggled with her character a bit especially in the beginning. Maybe an influencer with the (unacknowledged) privilege to take a break and volunteer her way through Inglewild just didn't sit right with me for the current moment. I was primarily listening to the audiobook version of the story, and had some trouble following the timeline in the beginning. I had to go to a print copy to reorient myself to the timeline of events leading up to the main part of the story. Up until about 30% of the book, Beckett and Layla weren't really on the page together. Once they were together consistently, my enjoyment of the book increased a lot! Their chemistry and steam is great and I enjoyed getting to spend more time with the residents of Inglewild that we first met in Lovelight Farms.

The audio is narrated by Pippa Jayne and Dane Anderson. Dane's narration of Beckett is perfect - five stars. I thought Pippa's narration of Evelyn read a little older/more formal than the tone of the book would have suggested.

Thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own.

This book was fine. Was it my favorite thing? No. But wasn’t it the worst? Also no.

The general plot of the story was sweet and I loved the characters, especially the secondary townspeople. The spice was also good. 😏 however, this story was very slow moving and didn’t really excite me. I’m not sure if that’s an actual story issue or an audiobook issue because I also didn’t really like the narrators (Dane Anderson/Beckett was alright but I didn’t like Pippa Jayne/Evie [sorry Pippa!])

As a whole I do think others will enjoy this. It just ultimately wasn’t my thing.

Beckett is incapable to forget Evie, a one-night (okay, two-nights) stand he spent a weekend with. But when she shows up at his farm as part of a social media contest, he is confused. Hi didn't know she was a celebrity influencer...
This is told in dual POV, and is the second book in the Lovelight series. The story was charming, but there was no chemistry between the characters. If you are looking an enemies-to-lovers, forced-proximity, grumpy x sunshine, second chance romance read, this is for you.
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I loved this book! The narration by Pippa Jayne and Dane Anderson was very good, their voices really did give life to Evelyn and Beckett.

The story follows Evelyn and Beckett, when they first meet they have a two-night-stand in which Evelyn leaves without saying goodbye and for the longest until they re-encounter at the farm that Beckett works at, she is all he could think about. Beckett did not think that the Evie he met was the same woman who is social media influencer. When Evelyn finds herself not being excited about doing her job anymore, she decides to take a break and go back to that town where the amazing Lovelight farm is located, back to Beckett. I found the plot of the book to be so sweet, very well written and the characters had amazing development.

First, let me start by saying that this cover is literally gorgeous. I will be honest and say that I judged a book by its cover but I am so glad that I did. This was an adorable romance and it had such a great message. In a world that is so fast-paced and career-oriented, it was a breath of fresh air to read about someone who decides to take a step back and figure out what really causes them joy.

Evelyn is a busy girl working as a social media influencer. When she has a memorable weekend fling with Beckett, a guy she met at a bar, she thinks she will never see him again. Instead, she finds herself at his farm by chance and is given a second (and third) shot at love. I love how relatable Evelyn is in the sense of needing to find a quieter way of life. She goes on an amazing journey of finding herself, her happiness, and the love of her life.

And of course, I am obsessed with the quote, "Did you find your happy today?". Beckett is the sweetest and most thoughtful human being. I think every girl dreams of finding someone like him. I loved watching him help Evelyn find herself and then watching them eventually fall for each other. This story was steamy and emotional. It is perfect for those helpless romantics or the people out there just trying to find their happy.

Hello my name is Natalie and I have an obsession with B.K. Borison.

Her writing is the type that sucks you in from the first pages, gets lost within the chapters, and makes you not realize you have spent the whole day reading. I’m amazed how good her writing got with her sophomore book. There’s a certain flow to the story that makes the read feel a part of it rather than an outsider reading. You feel Beckett and Evie surrounding your mind and heart intertwining their emotions with your own.

Beckett had my heart. Behind the grump attitude and the impenetrable wall he built around his heart, lies the softest and warm man I have ever read. With every animal he inadvertently adopts, I fell more in love with him. There’s so many layers to his character and the author took her time developing each one. Each narrator brought to life both characters with their tone and cadence. They both felt like Beckert and Evie and carried themselves in a way that I envisioned each person would sound. They both brought emotion and feelings that a reader would otherwise miss while reading alone.

I went to live in this book, on this farm, in this town, a part of the phone tree. The author created a world that is charming and quaint with characters that dig their roots deep into your soul. It’s the book that you want to savor every morsel, but end up devouring because you never want to leave the pages. Evie and Beckett are perfection The kind of book couple that you ship and aspire to be with the once in a lifetime kind of love. This book was a dream, one that I was to live in forever. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape for the ALC

I had seen the cover of this book floating around for a while, so when I saw that it was being produced as an audiobook, I was so excited to listen!

This story is dual POV and I LOVE getting dual POV in romance so we get to hear allllll of the juicy internal thoughts and pining. Beck and Evie are both such incredible characters that perfectly compliment each other. Beckett is an introvert tree farmer from a small town (I swear small fictional towns like Inglewild are so fun and I need a theme park that features my favorites). Evelyn is asocial media influencer that is burned out and uninspired. Both meet in a bar in Maine and have a one (okay, two) night stand. Then Evie flees.

Now all of a sudden, she’s back in Inglewild and literally runs into Beck, who offers her a place to crash. The rest is history as Beck helps Evie find her happy and as she helps him feel cared for and learn to expect more from others.

It was a sweet and funny romance and I really am excited to continue on with the series.

ONE THING WORTH NOTING… since I read this as an audiobook, I think its important to point out that since this is dual POV, they had two voice actors doing each POV. Beck is a white man and a white man did his POV. Evie is a woman of color (not sure if she identifies as Black or biracial or another race, but it’s brought up several times in the book that she has beautiful brown skin etc AND the cover depicts her as a woman of color). Her narrator is white. Something about this feels weird to me, but I won’t be taking off any stars because this isn’t something the author usually has control over. I hope that in the future, the audiobook production company will keep this in mind when casting the voice actors.

**Review will be published on audio release day, September 20th on my sites and socials!!**

I LIKED SOME OF IT.

I didn't like the original book in this series, Lovelight Farms, but I wanted to give the author another chance. And maybe it's okay to say now that we don't totally click. That's okay too!!

Audio narration wise it was GREAT. I loved the narrators and the way the read the story. I could listen at 3x speed with no issues and I have zero complaints in that regard.

Story wise it got off to a start with a one night stand, which can be a hit/miss for some. It was okay for me as I was prepared for it and knew more story was coming. I liked the initial moments of Beckett and Evelyn reconnecting. I also loved the theme surrounding Evelyn in disconnecting from social media and finding some happy each day.

Beckett was the sweetest and I liked a lot of moments surrounding him too. There was a good emphasis on his background and I enjoyed knowing more of his story.

I did think the pacing was my biggest issue. It started off well then slowed down so much I was wondering if anything was actually going to happen. Playing house was fun and sweet, but there needed to be something else happening too.

All in all, I truly gave this book a chance and I wish I had loved it more, but the audio was an easy listen and I appreciated that aspect.

Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: some strong
- Romance: multiple open door; medium explicit
- Trigger/Content Warnings: social anxiety
