Travel instagram blogger Evie had a 2-day fling with Christmas tree farm-owner Beckett. Months later, she returns to his town in a bid to “find her happy” as so much of her content creation seems to have drained travel of its luster. In a turn of events, all of the rooms at the inn are booked solid, and Evie ends up staying with Beckett.

I solidly enjoyed reading this! Fans of the rom-com genre will not find novelty here, but this is a fun, lighthearted, beach read romance.

Who else would like this book? If you love Hallmark movies; if you love Kate Hudson films; if you enjoyed “People We Meet on Vacation” or are generally a fan of happy / sunshine, sharing living quarters tropes. This book is open-door.

Oh and if you read this and can’t get enough, there are two other books about the owners of the tree farm! I haven’t read them and it didn’t affect my understanding of the plot.

I did listen to the audiobook and thought both narrators were pretty good. Dane Anderson’s gravelly voice reminded me of the narrator for “You” by Caroline Kepnes, so that was a little disorienting at times (since “You” is about a man’s deadly obsession with a woman named Beck). I wouldn’t discourage the audio if you prefer audiobooks.

Thanks to NetGalley and DreamScape Audio for providing me with an advanced copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 (5 Stars)
Steam : 🌶🌶🌶/5 (a few very descriptive steamy scenes throughout)

Narration: I absolutely loved reading this as an audiobook! The narration was amazing! I especially enjoyed the voice for Beckett!

No Spoiler Review 👇🏻

This is the second book in the Lovelight Farms series. I loved the first book and this one was very good too! Fun fact my first read of 2022 was Lovelight Farms!

This book follows Beckett and Evie. Characters we met in the first book. I loved their story! Beckett and Evelyn had a one night stand at a conference, but it felt deeper then that. Flash forward Evelyn is the influencer that came to see Lovelight Farms, causing them to meet again. Just for her to leave again. They can’t stop thinking about each other. Evelyn later realizes she is not happy with her life, she thinks when the last time she was happy and it was in Lovelight Farms. She goes there in hopes to
find her happy!

This book felt like sunshine! It made my heart so happy. I’ve had some things in my personal life that have been so hard lately and this book was totally what I needed.

It’s cute, funny, swoon worthy and an excellent romance. I loved how their relationship developed. I also loved that this book also focused on Evie finding her happy. It’s so well done. It gives the best cozy vibes, perfect for fall. I highly recommend this series! I think it works better to read in order! I can’t wait to pick up the third book soon.

Thank you to Dreamscape media for providing me an advanced listening copy of In the Weeds, receipt of which did not impact my review.

After loving Lovelight Farms last year, I was so excited to read Beckett’s story. Unfortunately, this one missed the mark for me. The narrators were fantastic, and Beckett’s softie heart towards animals was a big hit. However, I had a hard time with the communication issues between him and Evie. And the biggest issue I had was Evie’s racially ambiguous descriptions. It was mentioned that she had “brown skin” a few times and had a hard time getting a job because of it after college, but that was it. I kept thinking I missed something or more information would come later.

However, I will give Layla’s story a try, since I really loved book one.

This one was so fun! I didn't like it quite as much as the first one, but I really liked that it was dual POV. It felt a little less small town Stars Hollow vibes, which I loved that the first one did so well, but still makes me consider dropping everything and moving, so guess it did its job.

This book was one of my most anticipated reads this year, when I received access to the audiobook, I threw my hands up in the air like I just didn’t care. Look at this cover: GORGROUS! Most importantly, I LOVED Lovelight Farms and I am hopeful that it will become a holiday movie.

The story caught my attention in the beginning, and I was enjoying the flashbacks to when Evie and Beckett first had their one night-stand. This was hard to read or follow because time has passed since then, book 1 told us that. So, when there is a line stating “of course he knows, he knows me so well” girl stop it, you banged him after meeting him at a bar. No matter how amazing the sex was, does he really know you? At this point lust is okay because we are building that CONNECTION… or trying to. This felt forced fed and it went from lust to madly in love I cannot put my feelings into words. Adults mis-communicating is not my jam.

Overall, the story is sweet. Do I dream of living in a farm, absolutely? This one just missed some of the magic the first book had. I love Beckett and a man that loves animals and adopts them all YES, PLEASE! Somehow the chemistry was missing, by the overwhelming number of flashbacks. I wanted the now romance.

I genuinely feel like I read a different book than the one I’ve seen everyone raving about. I’m honestly just… confused.

The prologue and 2 other flashbacks that we got of their past interactions felt incredibly out of place and confusing and their past relationship/interactions should’ve been waaaay more flashed out than they were (I actually found myself wondering multiple times if they even had a relationship when she was in the town for the contest, or if their entire relationship was mostly only the two night stand… like it just didn’t feel clear to me 🙃 did they date? did they just have sex again? more development with flashbacks would’ve made this more clear)

I do think the story picked up a bit and got more fun after they reconnected, and even though I knew it wasn’t a favorite, I was already debating a 3.5 or 4 star star rating, because they had cute scenes and the characters were both very interesting separately as well… but that conflict ruined everything for me.

Beckett specifically was the one that pissed me off the most, tbh. I could write a whole paragraph about this entire conflict and all the things that annoyed me about it, and why I think it was stupid and completely unnecessary, but all I’ll say it that I don’t like the fact that Beckett immediately expects the worst of Evie without even giving her the benefit of the doubt. I don’t understand why she owns him anything when they weren’t even in a committed relationship when they had sex before.. like im sorry but it was a one night stand and you never made it clear to her you would like to date her and you’re going to get butt hurt cause she’s going back to her job and home???? Well then maybe tell her how you really feel and that you want to be in a serious relationship with her????

That love confession on tiktok thingy was EMBARRASSING. Like, it was ooc and so stupid.

I do want to read the first and third book in the series, I liked the writing enough to want to read more of the author’s books, and getting a glimpse at the characters that are the MCs in book 1 and 3 in this book made me intrigued to get to know more, but this one unfortunately didn’t live up to the hype for me. Good narrators, but the story itself wasn’t that good.

BECKETT!!!!! Goodness, he’s a gem of a man, and even though I liked Evie, I loved Beckett more, he had his heart on his sleeve, and he was just perfection. They met, had sex and she walked, with his heart somewhere in her carryon. Months later she appears in his town, she’s an influencer and she’s there on business, and then sees him there and the rest is history. I loved how he was a huge gentleman about everything and never wanted to press her on anything and acted like what they shared didn’t matter. I also loved the STEAM, because when they finally got together the STEAM has me glued to this audio like no other. And being the SAP that I am, I love a great romance story, full of love and family, finding yourself and your true worth, and that cute happy ending. Thanks Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

I just love the narrator of this!!! The whole book caught my attention and I looked forward to putting it on in my car every day. So so good. The perfect amount of romance/heat. Thank you!

This follow up was just as good as the first book in the series, and now I can't wait to read the next few books! Beckett is a book boyfriend for sure and I loved watching this relationship develop. I get a little frustrated with lack of communication in romance books, and this had a lot of that, so this is a 4 star read.

BK Borison is my new favorite comfort read and her audio for this book was fantastic. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

In this follow-up to Lovelight Farms, B.K. Borison gives us Beckett and Evie’s story—from their two-night stand to glimpses of Evie’s first visit to Lovelight Farms to the present.

Social media influencer Evelyn St. James has been feeling off lately. When she decides to take a break from work, she heads to the last place that she felt happy: Inglewild and Lovelight Farms.

Beckett Porter has not been able to get Evie out of his head. It’s been months since he last saw her, but now she’s back in his hometown and under his roof. She’s left him twice before without saying, “Goodbye.” Can Beck keep his distance or will he allow himself to grow even more attached to her?

I loved this one. I recommend reading Lovelight Farms first to become familiar with the characters, farm, and town of Inglewild. It was such a joy to return to the small town full of quirky customs and characters. What a delight it was to read a book with two main characters who care so much for others. And Beck has been added to my list of favorite book boyfriends.

I recommend this one to
- Anyone who has lost their way and needs to find their happy again
- Fans of curious kittens and darling ducklings
- Anyone who likes to take the time to look up at the stars
- Fans of tattooed gentle giants with tender spots for small animals
- Anyone who has felt a deep-seated need to find a change of pace
- Fans of Gilmore Girls-esque small town life
- Anyone who appreciates a healthy mix of sweetness and steam
- Fans of the grumpy-sunshine and forced proximity tropes

I listened to the audiobook version narrated by Pippa Jayne and Dane Anderson and loved how they brought the story to life. As with most narrators, sometimes I didn’t totally love the female voices done by the male narrator, but I did love how Anderson’s voice captures Beck’s personality. And Jayne easily captures Evie’s energy and emotion. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook.

Head back to Lovelight Farms and Inglewild with In the Weeds. You won’t be disappointed.

I received an advance copy of the audiobook from Dreamscape Media and NetGalley. All review opinions are my own.

I really couldn’t get into this story and I believe it’s because I’m picking it up mid series. Definitely need to go back read the first in order to jump quickly into more.

Evelyn St James is a burnt out influencer who is in dire need for a break. When she thinks back to where she was last happy it was in Lovelight Farms, and decides to go back there. But in Lovelight Farms, is Beckett, a one night stand she never got over. Of course once she arrives there is no place to stay because of a kite festival in town and Beckett offers her his spare bedroom on the farm. Nothing can go wrong there right? WRONG!

We've got a grumpy-sunshine / opposites attract trope. I loved Becketts character in general. He comes off as tough on the outside but is actually this really cute cinnamon roll hero who takes in stray animals and would do anything for his family. I didn't love the insta-love theme from the top, I don't know why but it felt kinda icky. The small miscommunication (which is my least favorite trope) at the end felt half-assed and silly. Like they needed to throw one more wrench in there to meet a page quota or something. There were some cute aspects though. The small town secondary characters were so cute. The phone tree throughout the whole book made me laugh. I also loved how Beckett's business partners and friends surrounded him and stood by him through the very small break up portion of the book.

I really wanted to love this, but I just found myself bored and the audio format just had me annoyed. Part of me wonders if I would like this more if I had read it rather than listened. One thing I am really not enjoying in audiobooks is how when its a male character chapter, he speaks for the girl in this annoying high voice and vice versa. Audiobooks have become such a production recently that I enjoy an ensemble cast or even a dynamic cast over this old format. The amount of times I cringed when the female narrator tried to have a sexy voice and vice versa. You hired both of them, let them talk to each other! I think I would have enjoyed it much more.

Also, maybe I am wrong, but I thought in book one, Luka and Evelyn who had a previous one night stand, but in this book it was Beckett and Evelyn. Who was it? I started this book so confused!

Thanks to the publisher for the ALC in return for an honest review. This Audio is out 9/20

If you've read my reviews, you know miscommunication is not my favorite trope and this book has a lot of it. What I did like was the other characters in the book pointing out the miscommunication and encouraging the main characters to get their acts together. Another thing I really enjoyed was the MMC's sensory issues. He has a lot of noise sensitivity and social anxiety. It appeared that he may have been on the spectrum but that was never specifically addressed. His family pushed him out of his comfort zone when he needed it but also accept him for who he is and adapt things to be more comfortable for him. I also appreciated that his father is in a wheelchair following a spinal cord injury and it talks about his ramp and how he gets around and the impact on the family. The book talks about these things not as though they are different but normalizes them in a way that can make people feel seen without being singled out. I really appreciated Beckett's family interactions.

The FMC is trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life when her career in social media becomes less about people, travel, small towns and more about trends and staying relevant. She feels like she no longer has a life of her own. Evelyn last felt happy and like herself after covering a piece at the farm where Beckett works, so that's where she goes to "find her happy."

I loved the small town feel. The cast of side characters and all of their schemes to get the two main characters together. The book has steamy scenes spaced throughout the novel and starts with a doozy. It took a while for me to get into the book, but once I got to see the actual characters, I wanted to know more about them.

In the weeds is a sweet small-town romance that follows Evie (Evelyn) and Beckett as they meet again for the first time after hooking up months prior. I read this as a standalone, I haven't read Lovelight Farms, despite it being on my TBR forever and I think it works as a standalone. There were definitely parts that I felt I was missing, mainly the first meet-up between Evie and Beckett and the inner workings of the town and townspeople. but it wasn't something that really needed much more context.

B.K. Borison has a lovely writing style and I thoroughly enjoyed the way she parsed atmospheric writing with well-developed characters and heartfelt relationships. The characters in this book were incredibly lovable, especially Farmer Beckett and his four cats, he's truly a precious gem of a man and makes for the perfect hero in this story. I adored the way that B.K. wrote about the town of Inglewild and its residents, it instantly made me want to visit this fictional town and soak in all of its heartfelt goodness. I listened to this on Audio and I can for sure say that the narrator played a huge part in bringing the story to life and making Inglewild feel as though it's a real town.

I read In The Weeds after reading Life's Too Short by Abby Jimenez and parts of this book kept me drawing comparisons to that book which left my brain cross-pollinating the two stories. The similarities between the two books is the occupation of the lead female characters, with both being "influencers" if you will. While they are both different in ways, the sort of "internet famous girl meets a regular, everyday boy" trope was eerily similar and I'm sure that it's due to the fact that I read the two back to back but I just couldn't get it out of my head while reading.

I really enjoyed this foray into the Lovelight Farms series and I'm super excited to now go back and read Lovelight Farms and Mixed Signals when it comes out. I also look forward to what's to come from B.K. Borinson, with tremendous talent as a writer and a knack for creating a story that felt incredibly real, I'm sure to be reading more of her work in the future!
4/5

Book 2 in the Lovelight series. Works as a stand alone, but the characters do have interactions in book one.

Evelyn is feeling burned out. A social media influencer, she is tired of traveling. Tired of being a stranger everywhere she goes. So she decides to take a break. She thinks of the last time she was happy- when she visited Lovelight Farms. Not only did she love the farm when she visited, but she also has a thing for one of the owners, Beckett.

Beckett doesn't trust Evelyn- she's left him twice without a goodbye. While he is glad she is here, he is waiting for her to leave. Again.

I enjoyed this one a lot! Beckett is very swoon-worthy- I mean- he takes in strays- he is up to four cats and a duck. Evelyn and Beckett together are kind of quiet. Comfortable. Sweet. Steady.

Pippa Jayne returns to narrate the audiobook. Still not one of my favorite narrators. This book, unlike book one, has a dual POV. Dane Anderson narrates Beckett's chapters. Also not someone I am familiar with. He did pronounce some words strangely, but other than that, decent.

Unfortunately I could not finish this title. Lovelight Farms was cute but this storyline felt like such a slog to listen to and honestly it felt unbelievable.

I love the way this book picked up kind of in the middle of Lovelight Farms from a different perspective but without being repetitive.

I love Beckett, he's such a grump but also a softie and adored all the kittens and the duck that he adopts.

The entire book was adorable. I can't wait to read the next book, Mixed Signals following Layla & Caleb.
