Love the eye catching book cover!
Another well written, enjoyable read by Kristin Harper.
Lily’s Secret Inheritance has family drama and the struggles one can go through trying to overcome all the secrets. So much information about the history of the families Cranberry Farm was quite interesting to read about. Throw in romance with just a bit of mystery to make for a well rounded story with all the feels.
The theme of this beautiful story is how to begin to move forward and letting the past go.
Many thanks to NetGalley, @bookouture and author, Kristin Harper, for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
This is a heartwarming story of second chances and forgiveness. Lily was a nice character to follow. I liked that the problems Lily faced were realistic with a realistic solution. There's a little bit of mystery and romance that keeps the story interesting. The only thing I didn't really care for was that the story was a little repetitive. But other than that it's a nice story with good characters especially Lily's son! Thank you Bookouture and Kristin Harper for sharing this book with me!
Anytime I escape into a Harper novel, it’s like a cool lotion over a frazzled surface. I easily lose myself in the world of the characters she creates.
Dune Island, off the coast of Massachusetts, hasn’t seen Lily since she left in a huff and despair eighteen years earlier. She returns to claim her inheritance, but finds so much more. She also discovers many things she thought and felt all those years before were completely wrong.
I loved the descriptions of the island and the cranberry bogs. I think Lily learned to loosen up and quit holding on is tight, especially with her son Ryan.
While she can’t undo the last, she can out it to rest and make a better future.
I didn’t realize that it is part of a series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. It was a quick read and I really enjoyed the past and present timeline. Right from the start I loved the story, the setting and the characters. A story of family, secrets and starting a new life doing something you had not thought of before.I would recommand this book to any Kristin Harper fan. I enjoyed it. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced review copy of this book.
I’m a huge fan of Kristin Harper’s books and Lily’s Secret Inheritance is another great read. I loved the history of the Cranberry Farm and Lily’s life growing up on the farm. Her family sounded wonderful and I could totally sympathise with Lily on her escape at the age of 18. Coming back to the farm must have been so hard for her, struggling with the grief and secrets, but I really enjoyed seeing Lily reconnect with her home.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Kristin Harper for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
4 stars
Lily's life has been filled with loss. She lost her parents at a young age, then her grandparents, her uncle, her husband, and her aunt Dahlia. After Dahlia passes, Lily travels back to Dune Island to meet with a lawyer to go over her inheritance. She finds out she was given the farm and she immediately decides to sell it. But since she was last there over 18 years ago, things have changed.
This was a good book. It was a quick read and I really enjoyed the past and present timeline. I felt for Lily at times. But other times I felt she was overbearing and worried about every little thing, especially when it came to Ryan, her son. She was especially worried about running into people from high school and I didn't like that. I also wish there were more scenes with Lily and Jake. But other than that, I enjoyed this one.
This was a heartfelt story of letting go, and second chances. The writing was fantastic and held my attention.
A well written enjoyable book, I enjoyed the slow gentler pace of this one and felt the characters were described perfectly for this type of novel. The descriptions of the island were idyllic but not in an unrealistic way and the main characters struggles as a single mum we’re not glossed over. Overall I would certainly recommend this book, thanks to Netgalley for an advanced copy
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Bookouture and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
A fabulous read I truly adored.
This was a brilliant read . It moved between the past and now. Lily lost her parents early and her aunt had been amazing but she put her own child first and it changed everything. and you follow their story. The island sounded lovely . You had a nice slow burning love element and you know no one is perfect . I also learnt a lot about cranberries. A great read.
A new author for me and I thoroughly enjoyed this book even though I hadn’t realised it was the 3rd book in the series. A good well written easy read that I loved turning the pages to find out more. Will certainly seek out more from Kristin Harper including books 1+2 of this series. .
Thanks to NetGalley as always and Bookouture for the early read

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lily has had immeasurable loss starting with losing her parents at young age due to a car accident to grandparents dying to her husband dying of cancer and leaving her as a single mom to her young son. More recently, her Aunt Dahlia, at the age of 57 died unexpectedly of an aneurysm. Lily was notified by the family attorney, Steve, that she needs to come for the reading of the will, so Lily heads to Dune Island. She finds out that she is inheriting the family’s cranberry farm. Lily is given 3 keys, one to her grandparents room, one for her aunt’s room and one is for a trunk. What will she discover? Will her plans of selling it be as easy as she thought? How will her life change with decisions she makes?
A wonderful and heartfelt story of loss, love and second beginnings. From the writing to the story, this book draws you in and keeps you turning the pages until the end! A wonderful book just to read or to read with your book club as this book will lead to many good discussions.
Where do I start. Well this is such a charming book that took me no time at all to get into and start enjoying. Right from the start I loved the story, the setting and the characters. A story of family, secrets and starting a new life doing something you had not thought of before.
There is plenty of emotion, forgiveness, love and caring in this story. It is a heartwarming read that kept me interested as I can imagine families like this, people I know, even members of my own family in this book. I think that could and would be said by most people who read it.
A book of second chances that is well worth the read. And having not read the first book I now must go and find it! Highly recommend this book as a great holiday read as well as just a book to read in a day or two as it is so easy to read and get into and is not too long. Loved it!
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the early peek at Kristin Harper's Lily's Secret Inheritance. I loved it! Kristin Harper's writing always leaves me with a happiness, and this one may be her very best yet.
I didn't realize this was a series of books, but this was easily read stand alone.
Lily's parents were killed when she was young, and she was raised by her grandparents and Uncle Martin on the cranberry farm. Dahlia (and her son) moved in to help when her grandma was sick and she married Martin. Lily was a budding photographer and with help from her mentor, won a contest that helped get her off the island when she ran away. This part of the story was a big lacking - Lily was so immature, granted she was a high schooler, but she made a lot of assumptions and left the island. She didn't go back until learning Aunt Dahlia had passed and Lily inherited the cranberry farm. She's widowed then and has a young son to consider. She's planning on selling the farm and leaving the island for good because of the rumors and "mean" people. It's a bit annoying and then the story wraps up quickly.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.
What a joy to read. This book drew me in right from the start, not only did I love learning about the characters but also all about cranberries. Lily was a lovely and identifiable character, she showed a lot of strength, and I loved seeing her grow. It’s only with real life experience that she was truly able to fully understand what Dahlia did and why, this allowed her the opportunity to grow. Jake was a lovely guy and I’m so happy he got his happy ending, he was patient and diligent. I loved seeing him with Ryan and Connor.
From start to finish I loved this, I couldn’t put it down.
This book is all about family, life in a small town and how deception and lies can influence both.
When young widow Lily returns to Dune Island to settle her Aunt's estate, all she wants to do is get in and get out without encountering any of the people she grew up with, the same people whose bullying and gossip made her life very difficult after her parents' and grandmother's deaths. Rumors abounded after a small incident at her family farm, which led to confusion and more lies.
Now that Lily is back, and she brings her 8 year old son Ryan with her, she's worried that he will run into people who will expose him to the same lies and gossip. Instead, Lily finds that people have grown up and aren't concerned about what happened back then. Ryan loves Dune Island, and Lily discovers a trunk of items that her Aunt left for her. Some are very emotional, some are related to the secret inheritance the title mentions.
I liked this book, but I did have some issues with Lily's constant worry over things that happened in high school. She was so concerned about running into people that she chose to not go into the small city center shops. I understand that high school is a rough place, but all these years later some of that resentment and anger should have faded. All in all, it was a good read.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this book. I loved the setting of a cranberry farm with a gift shop and an education center. The story of Lily going back home is an example of not always getting facts or details right when we are growing up. Lily learns some things about the aunt she inherited the farm from that were completely different from what she thought and what caused her to leave the farm and her family far behind. There's also a lot of her discovering that the people in the town that bullied her or were mean to her may not be the same people they were back then. She has kept her son from even knowing about the farm or her family, but it was a bright moment when she finally took him there to discover all the good things about the area that she had forgotten.
There were the little mysteries throughout the book and Lily's dealing with her son that make it interesting...and maybe a little romance too. I really wish I could experience the setting for this book. It made me long to be there. Maybe someday... Until then, I think I'll go back and read another of the books!
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.
An enjoyable and quick read about family, love, secrets, and understanding.
I loved the characters, and their real life problems. So easy to relate to and sympathize with. I wish the ending had been. a little more drawn out, but overall a wonderful read.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I really love Kristin Harpers books about the Cranberry farm. This book was about Lily and coming back home and trying to wrestle with the past and the future.
After her Aunt Dahlia dies, leaving Lily to inherit the farm, Lily must go to the family farm and confront all of her beliefs.
This book had a great beginning, mystery of what had happened right before Lily graduated high school.
The last quarter of the book was seriously lacking in substance. What I mean is that Lily needs to sell the farm to settle her own bills and then just magically finds a secret inheritance from her aunt. I wouldn't have minded this secret if it had been told throughout the book.
It felt like that the author just threw it out there to neatly tie up the book.
Further, the ending was so abrupt, I had to go back a few pages to just make sure that I didn't skip anything.
Overall, not the authors best book, however, still a good read.
A very enjoyable book to curl up and read. I learnt about cranberry bogs and how the cranberries were harvested. Lily had left the island straight after leaving school, telling her family it was to further her photographic career. Now she is widowed with a young son and plenty of debts. She has to return to the farm where she grew up after inheriting it from her aunt and while Lily works through how hurt she has been in the past she also remembers Lots of good times and the love she had for her family, but sadly she is now the only one left . Should Lily sell the farm to pay off her debts or could she live once more in her old family home? There’s lots to love about this book one of which is Lily’s son who enjoys sleeping in the loft of the shack.
