This is the sixth book in the Nikki Hunt series.
Nikki receives a phone call on Christmas Eve about a body of a 17 year old girl that had gone missing on Black Friday. She was found by a fisherman beneath the ice of a frozen lake. While searching the area, they find a mass grave. Another person is also reported missing, making the team wonder if the two cases are related.
This is another great page turner that keeps you guessing and hoping that Nikki and her team will solve the murder. I look forward to more books in this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the ARC in return for my honest review.
Her Frozen Heart by Stacy Green is the sixth book in the brilliant Nikki Hunt series and I have really enjoyed this series. This is a series that had me gripped from the very first book now to the sixth book. Its a great page turner thats full of great twists and turns throughput. I just adore the character Nikki Hunt.
I highly recommend this series and its another 5 star book.
Very much enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more in this series. The characters and pacing were spot on. Highly recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy
Nikki Hunt fans – she’s back! Her Frozen Heart is Stacy Green’s sixth novel featuring FBI Special Agent Hunt. Once again, Nikki is called out on a frigid day to the scene of a grim discovery; the body of a young woman has been found in Big Marine Lake near the city of Forest Lake, Minnesota, about 30 miles north of St. Paul. Does Nikki ever get called out during the summer months? Minnesota summers can be quite beautiful, especially in and around Nikki’s home in Stillwater.
The victim is identified as Kesha Williams, a high school senior who was abducted from the Mall of America on Black Friday while shopping with her boyfriend. This brings back chilling memories for Nikki; those familiar with this series may recall that Nikki’s young daughter Lacey had a frightening experience at the same mall a year earlier. This time, however, there is no happy reunion for the Williams family, and it comes at Christmas time. Because of the holiday, law enforcement and the medical examiner’s offices are short-staffed. Unfortunately, time is of the essence because another person has gone missing. Is this related or not? Time will tell.
It's not essential to have read previous books in the series, but it is helpful to know Nikki, her team, and her personal background. She has suffered great personal losses. This gives her unique perspective and understanding of both victims and perpetrators. Some aspects of this novel are not unlike previous stories, but Ms. Green ensures that her characters feel genuine and are growing in experience and in their professional and personal lives. That doesn’t mean that they’re perfect. Mistakes happen. Nikki finds herself wondering, at times, if she’s making the right decisions.
We do get sneak peeks at the person whom we sense is the killer early in his life, although we really don’t see his bad acts or know how he evolves into a serial killer – yes, serial killer. There are other flashbacks as well that give us hints. The author teases with red herrings, but is it really a shock to discover who the killer is? For me, it was not totally expected but also not a huge surprise. I did feel that the finale wrapped up a bit too quickly.
I did really appreciate that the story begins with a victim who is African American, and that the FBI is giving full attention to her case, unlike the local police department, where race is perceived to be an issue. Race factors into Kesha’s case in other ways as well. Some of the other victims are also non-white, and Nikki ensures that these remains and the notifications are handled with similar care by everyone involved with the case.
Perhaps Nikki’s next case will have her battling a mosquito infested marsh instead of an ice-covered lake? How about it, Stacy Green? Would you care to feature “Minnesota’s State bird”?
I received a digital copy of Her Frozen Heart from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own. Thanks also to the author and to Bookouture.
4 stars
FBI Agent Nikki Hunt is getting ready for Christmas with her family when she gets a call that a body has been found in a frozen lake. The victim is perfectly preserved but her hands and feet have been removed. The only suspect is her boyfriend but the dismemberment suggests a confident killer rather than a teen...
Her Frozen Heart is the 6th book to feature Nikki Hunt. There are several plot developments from earlier books that play a significant role in the main characters' current lives so I would recommend reading the books in order or treating it as a stand alone.
The prologue is hugely emotive as it shows us Kesha begging for her life. This really catches the reader and throws them straight into the action. We then skip ahead to the discovery of her body which is heartbreaking after her desperation to live.
The pace of the plot developments is quite speedy but delivered through chapters which are reasonably long to show the thoroughness of Nikki's investigation. A young man's disappearance and the discovery of a mass grave makes the case more complicated and adds new dimensions.
The majority of the book is written in the third person from the police perspective. However, there are some chapters that show a past timeline which has an uncomfortable and increasingly sinister atmosphere. The interactions between Nikki, her family and colleagues all contribute to strong relationships which underpin the investigation and contrast against the dark atmosphere.
Her Frozen Heart is an entertaining and dramatic detective thriller.
Captivating, suspenseful and scary!
I loved this, following agent Nikki on the hunt for a serial killer isn’t exactly what I’d call Christmas fun but definitely something that needs to be read!
First book I’ve read in this series and I will be avidly looking for the next one!
Amazing. Just wow. This series gets better and better. This one was just absolutely brilliant. Loved loved loved. Please read this one.
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'Her Frozen Heart' by Stacy Green.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Stacy Green, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous
Publication date 13th October 2022.
This is the fifth book I have read by this author. It is also the sixthbook in the 'Nikki Hunt' series but can be read as a standalone. I have previously read 'The Girls In The Snow' which is the first book in the 'Nikki Hunt' series, 'Lost Angels' which is the third book in the series, 'The Girl In The Ground' which is the fourth book in the series and 'The Trapped Ones' which is the fifth book in this series and which I highly recommend.
I was originally drawn to this book by its gorgeous eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that this book is 'An unputdownable thriller that will keep you up all night! Fans of Lisa Regan, Kendra Elliot and Robert Dugoni will absolutely love this gripping read. ' I am a huge fan of all three of these authors so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of Stacy Green and if this is half as good as 'The Girls In The Snow', 'Lost Angels', 'The Girl In The Ground' and 'The Trapped Ones'. it is sure to be a page turning read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).
This novel consists of a prologue, 23 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is set in Minnesota, USA 🇺🇸.
This book is written in first person perspective with the main protagonist is Special Agent Nikki Hunt. The benefits of third person perspective are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.
Wow!!! Yet another absolutely unputdownable addictive book in this gripping series!!! Very well written with fantastic descriptions this book had the perfect settings and a great storyline! The cover and blog suited the book perfectly.
The storyline started straight into the action and sucked me straight in where it kept me until the last page. Every time I pick up one of Stacy's absolutely addictive books in the Nikki Hunt series it feels like I have only just put the previous book down as it all comes flooding back. I may have read the previous book months or even a year ago and it just goes to show how memorable this series is and how much it stays with me. It is definitely one of my favourite book series'! This storyline is very fast paced and packed with suspense, murder, family, friends, romance, lies and an abso 2 explosive ending!! I had absolutely NO IDEA who the killer was in this book and when I found out I was absolutely gob smacked!!! At no point did I suspect them so a MASSIVE WELL DONE Stacy on yet again shocking me.. It gets harder and harder to shock me as I read so many crime books yet you manage it every single time which just goes to show what a talented author you are!! This book is absolutely addictive and I read it in one sitting. It kept me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails with my heart absolutely pounding throughout especially at the end! I really am looking forward to the next episode in what is definitely A gripping, all consuming addictive series.
Although this is the sixth book in the series there would be absolutely no problems reading it without the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.
I absolutely loved meeting Nikki, Liam, Rory, Mark, Miller and Courtney again along with many other characters. This gang have become like friends to me that I miss each and every time I close the last page in one of the books in this series and thay I cannot wait to meet again!! I love the fact that the females are such strong women who are not to be messed with and Ive become completely invested in each of them including the sweet Lacey although we didn't see much of her in this book I'm looking forward to seeing her again in the next one. Although Nikki went through hell as a teenager and continued to do so in each book, especially in Lost Angels, book three in this fantastic series, she was definitely not being dragged down. She has a massive personality and her team worked well together, each having their own individuality which is always great to see. All the characters were believable and worked really well with the story. The team dynamics are perfect and they all work well together, they can laugh together and bring each other comfort and it's lovely to see a team of friends work together in a book. I have loved watching her relationship with Rory develop throughout these books and I think they make such a fantastic couple. It is so sweet how Rory takes care of her and Lacey, it's about time Nikki has some happiness in her life, she really does deserve it!! I am looking forward to meeting them all again in the next novel.
This is exactly why you are on my favourite author list Stacy and I would love to see made into a movie!!! Here's to your next success 🥂
A MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS ON YET ANOTHER FANTASTIC SUCCESS STACY AND HERE'S TO MANY MORE 🍻🥂 !!!!
Overall an absolutely explosive addition to an addictive, unputdownable race pulsing series!!
Genres covered in this novel include Crime Thriller, Mystery, Romantic Suspense, Thriller, Suspense, Psychological Thriller, Romance Novel, Police Procedural and Crime Fiction amongst others.
I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Karin Slaughter, M. J. Arlidge, P. J. Tracy, Lisa Regan, Robert Dugoni, Kendra Elliot and anyone after an action packed crime book.
271 pages.
This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle or £7.99 in paperback via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!
Rated 5 /5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

That took me so long to read, not because it was a bad book but because I was very unwell. So, short review. FBI agent Nikki Hunt is called to a scene where a body has been found under the water by an ice fisherman. It turns out to be a young woman who has been missing for a couple of weeks. Strangely, her hands and feet have been cut off.
A K9 team is brought in to sniff out the missing bits but instead they find a body dump with 6 bodies in various stages of decomposition.
There are many suspects and red herrings and no progress is made. Then Nikki’s team is alerted to a missing young man from a neighbouring county. Are these cases related? Is the young man still alive? It is, however, clear they are chasing a serial killer who has been at it for a very long time.
This was a very tense read but I felt that the book was let down a bit by the ending, it was just a little too ‘pat’. Nevertheless an exciting and suspenseful story with a very twisty, shocking ending. I’m already looking forward to the next Nikki Hunt book. Matt thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the much appreciated arc which I reviewed voluntarily and honestly.
Her Frozen Heart is #6 in the Nikki Hunt series. It can be read as a standalone though I recommend you read the complete series. There is so much back story to Nikki that you will find interesting.
The storyline is fast paced with Nikki called out to investigate when a body of a young woman is found frozen in a lake. From that discovery, it seems like more creepy and gruesome things start happening. Nikki and her team have their work cut out for them.
So much mystery and suspense awaits you in reading Her Frozen Heart. Along with suspenseful, twisty moments that will have you shocked.
I love the personal, family dynamics within the story. All the characters are well developed.
Highly recommended series.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Gosh what a dark crime thriller
Another with a dangerous serial killer.
Getting ready for a family party on Christmas Eve
Is when Nikki Hunt receives a call and has to leave.
The body of a missing seventeen year old
Has been discovered in a lake that's icy cold.
When other bodies are found in graves nearby
Can Nikki find the killer - or will she be the next to die?
A page-turner read, right from the start,
With Nikki's family and friends also playing a part.
There are plenty of clues but, as the body count rises.
There are also mysteries and surprises.
This is another enthralling Nikki Hunt thriller
With a very twisted serial killer.
If this is a genre you enjoy having to read
It is certainly a great one that you'll also need!
So filled with mystery and suspense
It is edge of your seat tense!
For my complementary copy of this book I say thank you.
As I share with you this, my honest review.
Special Agent Nikki Hunt receives a call on Christmas Day. 17 year old missing teenager Kesha Williams has been found in a frozen lake. This is an unputdownable book that grabs you from the start and doesn't let up until the surprise ending. The story was well plotted and the characters were such that you liked each one. You should read this series in order but it can be read as a standalone. If you like mystery thrillers then you will love this book. I cannot wait for the next book in the series and I would like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for a copy for an honest review.
The opening of the book is dark and menacing but thankfully the rest of the book is not so unnerving.
A plot with lots of twists and I like how the investigation developed with the reader following the processes. I did suspect the actual killer from halfway through but it was still intriguing to see how the book continued.
I have not read any of the previous books in the series and so the frequent references to past events did not resonate with me but did not take much away from the main story here. I just felt that I was a little late to the party and so would probably recommend reading the previous books before this one.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review "Her Frozen Heart", the 6th book in the Agent Nikki Hunt series (not having read any of the previous books in the series, I went back and rectified that before getting into this one).
It's been a rough year for Nicole 'Nikki' Hunt and her team, after her return home to lead a local FBI team. And there have been a lot of cases to deal with, deaths, injuries, near-death experiences, etc. all leading up to Christmas. But all is not calm, all is not bright....
When the body of missing teen Kesha is pulled out of the water by an ice fisherman, Agent Hunt is called to the scene of what turns out to be one of the most disturbing serial killings of her career. One man down (but not out), Hunt works closely with the local Sheriff.
Amid charges that the original investigators mishandled the case, zeroing in on one person in particular through a possible racial bias, Nikki and her team begin the arduous task of profiling this madman; and when more bodies are located in the course of the search for evidence, the case become even more bewildering.
At the same time, another jurisdiction believes that they have a missing person who might be linked to the FBI's case - but the victimology doesn't fit (male vs female, and other factors).
This is indeed one for the books, and the climax might just leave you breathless. (The only thing I have to quibble about is the consistent trope in this and other similar novels of putting the 'hero' in peril every damned time.)
Recommended - can be read by itself, but for in depth background you should read the previous five books. You won't regret it.
Her Frozen Heart by Stacy Green.
Nikki Hunt Book 6.
The girl’s pretty face was relaxed, snowflakes settling on her cheeks as they began to fall over the quiet frozen lake where she’d been found. She could have been sleeping… but her empty eyes and the blooming bruises around her neck told a different story…
When Special Agent Nikki Hunt receives a call on Christmas Day, she knows it can’t be good news. Seventeen-year-old missing teenager Kesha Williams has at last been found… her body floating in an icy forest lake, miles from her hometown. As Nikki rushes to the scene, she’s chilled to see the past repeating itself. Kesha disappeared from the mall where Nikki’s own little girl was targeted the year before. With Kesha’s grieving parents desperate for answers and the media out for blood, Nikki promises she’ll find Kesha’s killer no matter what it takes. Local police are convinced it was Kesha’s boyfriend, who was spotted disappearing from security cameras that day at the mall, but Nikki isn’t so sure. The dense marshes and unstable ground around the crime scene mean it’s nearly inaccessible from the road. Whoever took Kesha is a local, and this probably isn’t his first kill. Nikki’s worst fears are confirmed when the team find another grave on the shore – a second teenage girl, her body wound in a brightly coloured beach towel. Suddenly on the hunt for a serial killer, Nikki knows that an early break is the key to solving this case. But as the body count rises, will Nikki be able to find Kesha’s killer… or will he find her first?
A really good read. I do like this series. 5*.
Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via Netgalley and for letting me take part in this tour. This is the 6th book in the series but all could be read as a standalone.
This book begins with a bang. The prologue is just so gripping and I had to carry on. Stacy is so good at grabbing your attention and keeping you hooked throughout. There were lots of twists and turns that really keeps you on your toes!
I love Nikki and her team. They may be small but they are extremely skilled and determined.
If you want a tense and fast-paced crime book then this one’s for you.
Loved this one. Nikki is on the hunt again. A body found, more follow it. Liam still hasn’t completely recovered so she’s kind of on her own. And its Christmas so resources are limited.
I was flabbergasted by the end, definitely don’t know who you can trust.
Special Agent Nikki Hunt is back again in this gripping, captivating, page turner which sees Nikki hunting a sadistic serial killer who is always a step ahead of her. I have loved this series from the very first book, The Girls in the Snow, and I always get excited when I see Stacy Green has another book out. Her Frozen Heart did not disappoint! The writing, the plot and the cast of characters keep me coming back for more. Her Frozen Heart is riveting, tense and compelling!
Nikki receives a phone call informing her that the body of Kesha Williams, a missing seventeen-year-old has been found by an ice fisher in an icy lake. Kesha was last seen at a mall and reported missing by her boyfriend who has become the main suspect in her disappearance. Nikki can't help being reminded of when her own daughter went missing in the same mall.
With all the other books in the series, I was instantly drawn into the story. I loved being on the case with Nikki as she investigated and looked for clues. Plus, all the supporting characters are in this one. I love the character development that has occurred over the course of the series. There is the perfect balance between Nikki's personal life and her investigative role.
Nikki is a character to root for. She has suffered loss in her life when her parents were killed, and her testimony sent the wrong man to jail. She is a mother with a young child who has found love again. She is smart, extremely likeable, flawed, and tough.
From the very first page, I was glued to the pages. There is no down time as Nikki investigates. I enjoyed the pacing and how the tension mounts as the investigation progresses. Whew! Did I mention, I love this series? This book proved to be a fast read and as it is only book 6 in the series, those who have not read it, can easily go back, and begin with book #1. Although, this would work as a stand-alone, this is such a great series, why not go back and start at the beginning There is great character development and growth for all of the characters that you won’t want to miss it.
Captivating, tense, and pulse pounding!
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
FBI Agent Nikki Hunt has been through a lot of trauma in her personal and professional life but she keeps on keeping on. She has a little girl who means the world to her, and I love that in each book, Nikki prioritizes her daughter.
Nikki is tasked with trying to figure out who killed 17 year old Kesha. When a lot more bodies turn up and it is clear there is a serial killer at work, it takes time and effort to follow the clues. Nikki has a special partner, Rory, who is always there for her and her daughter, which makes doing what she does a little easier. She also has Liam and Miller at work, and between them all, she has a good team.
Talk about a twisty plot! I enjoyed it and it was a really great read. Looking forward to the next book in the series :)
4.5 stars from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the chance to read Her frozen heart (Nikki Hunt #6) by Stacy Green. I am thrilled the author has continued this series! A young girl has been missing, but on Christmas Day Special Agent Nikki Hunt receives a phone call to say her body has been recovered. She is horrified as the girl disappeared from the mall where Nikki’s own little girl was targeted the year before. Local police think they know whose to blame but when another body shows up Nikki realizes they are looking for a serial killer, and she needs to find him fast, before he finds her.
I totally recommend this book, and while it can be read as a stand alone, I think it would be better to read the entire series!
