Her Frozen Heart is the 6th book in the police procedural series featuring Agent Nikki Hunt. Set in Stillwater, Minnesota, FBI Profiler/ Special Agent Nikki makes a very likeable agent. Nikki came back to Stillwater after twenty years of working away, and I first met her in book one, The Girls in the Snow.
This compelling and engaging story hots up steadily. The characters are very well portrayed and protagonist Nikki has been developed wonderfully. Nikki is resourceful, intelligent and complex and with her six-year-old daughter, Lacey at her grandparents' place for Boxing Day, and her partner Rory, caring for Lacey beforehand, Nikki can give the current case - a body found in a frozen lake - her all. Her Frozen Heart is extremely compulsive with plenty of action, reveals and a plot twist. Stacy Green's writing is a good fit for me and I was glued to the pages as I was desperate to know the outcome of the story. I’m very keen to read more in this exciting series. A very highly recommended crime thriller.
This review was written voluntarily and my rating was in no way influenced by the fact that I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel from Bookouture via NetGalley.
It’s been six books and after each one I want to give Agent Hunt a big hug and keep her safe. She’s a fabulously successful FBI Agent working in the BAU solving murders and helping survivors. Sometimes her cases hit too close to home and she’s more than just the agent, she’s the victim. When a teenage girl is found in a lake the discovery leads police to another group of bodies, a serial killer has a burial ground. How the dots are connected is amazing, how the mistakes made could have led to a different outcome and the clues about the killer were really hard to spot. Green’s books are relatable on a realistic level as Hunt is a working single mother doing what’s right by ridding the world of evil. Hunt is an amazing character, flawed and intelligent, with a huge heart despite the tragedy she’s faced. I’m excited to read more in this series, I read an early copy and wrote my review honestly
I've been a fan of this series since the release of the first book, The Girls in the Snow, in 2020, and Stacy Green has yet to let me down!
Following another fast-paced investigation and chilling case, Her Frozen Heart is another gripping story with brilliant development in a series that I'm always excited to dive back into.
With lots of action and plenty of twists, Green's books are always difficult to put down as she effortless keeps you turning page after page, eager to find out the answers.
Green also makes a lot of time for character development which is why I'm always so hooked on her books, as I have an image of every character in my head and always look forward to getting back in their company.
The investigation follows an intricate case with a dark twist and I especially enjoyed the discussions around infamous serial killers. As a profiler, it's always interesting to get inside Nikki's head to see how she solves these mysteries, and I definitely couldn't predict how this one would play out.
But as much as I love this series and the character of Nikki Hunt, I'm begging for her to retire soon! Every book makes my heart race. Of course I would still be excited for another book, but the pressure must be on and the only thing I want for Nikki now is to cut her losses and run away with her family somewhere quiet and secluded!
Don’t start reading Her Frozen Heart (Nikki Hunt Book 6) by Stacy Green if you have something that needs to be done soon or some place you will soon need to be. Just after reading the prologue it was almost impossible to put down. This is the most unputdownable thriller of all making you forget everything but following Special Agent Nikki Hunt to find a vile, evil, criminal serial killer.
Almost Christmas, now Special Agent Nikki Hunt’s home life is somewhat normal. However, a murdered teenager changes all that, putting Nicky on the case and facing danger again too. The clues were there but I didn’t catch any of them ether until it was almost too late for Nicky. Be sure to read the quotes at the front of the book because this villain is a true monster.
Her Frozen Heart gives new meaning to nail-biting suspense and heart stopping thriller. The story reads okay on its own but you will want to go back to see the progress Nicky has made in her life. I can’t recommend this book enough. It is part of one of the best FBI suspense series written today.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oh my. I just finished reading this book and am still trying to process what happened. What starts out as a case of a missing teen turns into a search for a serial killer. And all of this is happening around Christmas. While there are some suspects, none of them fit all the clues, especially as they work the case and come up with more information on the potential serial killer. There were some surprising twists at the end. This is the first book I've read in this series and now I want to go back and read the previous ones to see what has happened to Nikki prior to this.
Her Frozen Heart by Stacy Green is the sixth in the FBI Agent Nikki Hunt series.
First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Series Background: (Warning – May contain spoilers from previous books)
Nikki Hunt is an FBI Agent whose parents were murdered when she was young. Their real killer is behind bars, after she helped free Mark Todd (who she originally helped incarcerate). She now lives with his brother Rory, and family dynamics are settling down. She has a young daughter (Lacey), and her ex-husband (Tyler) was murdered by a serial killer (Frost) who is also now behind bars, and is apparently Nikki's half-brother. Nikki heads the BAU unit based out of St. Paul Minnesota. Her team consists of Crime Scene Analyst Courtney Hart and Agent Liam Wilson. Her boss is Victor Hernandez.
My Synopsis: (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
On Christmas Eve, Nikki is called to investigate the death of a young girl that was just found beneath a frozen lake. 17-year old Kesha Williams was last seen on Black Friday at the Mall of America, where she had been shopping with her boyfriend.
When other bodies are found buried in the nearby forest, Nikki knows that she has a serial killer on her hands. A boy from a nearby town is missing, but due to politics and bigotry, Nikki is just now hearing about it. She fears it may be too late to save Parker Jameson.
Hernandez, Nikki's boss, calls in Dr. Alex Roth, a neuroscience researcher working on mapping the brains of criminals. He will be consulting on the case.
Liam is still recovering from his concussion, and although he can't work in the field, he is still actively researching.
My Opinions:
Hmm, again I'm not sure about the cover to the book. It's nice, but the butterfly necklace has no relevance to the story.
On the other hand, the plot was very good, and although I had guessed the perpetrator early on, it was still a very good journey from start to finish.
Green's writing is very straight-forward, and the book was another easy read. The pace was quite fast throughout, and it held my attention from start to finish.
Looking forward to the next one!
It’s the season of ,merriment and joy. FBI agent Nikki Hunt is looking forward to spending a quiet day with Rory and Lacey when a body is fished out of a nearby lake. Crime never takes a day off, even for Christmas.
As Nikki works the case she has mounting pressure, especially when 6 more bodies surface. A serial killer is making a mockery of the most wonderful time of the year.
I love Nikki’s character and the fact that her team were willing to work over the holidays. She’s the quintessential profiler and with dogged determination she will get the criminal, even if she has to pay a high price.
This is one of my most favorite crime series and I love that the upper Midwest is showcased for all of its frozen tundra glory.
Oh my goodness...... Her Frozen Heart had me gripped from page one. It is book six of the Nikki Hunt series and the drama just continues to flow from author Stacy Green!!!! I certainly wasn't expecting that twist!!!!! I can't say any more workout giving ìt away...... I highly recommend this novel.
This is my second Nikki Hunt book but there has been a significant gap, I would have connected quickly with the characters and some of the back story if I had been more up to date. That is my fault not the book but a general recommendation to read the books in order. Now I need to go back to to find out what has happened in the meantime.
This was pleasantly dark and I really enjoyed it. There were nods to racial tensions as well as police politics with all the different elements of law enforcement in the States.
I dont really want to say more due to spoilers but a cracking read.
I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.
It was Christmas Eve when Special Agent Nikki Hunt received a call from Miller, saying an ice fisherman had discovered a body in the waters of the frozen lake, one that would prove to be missing seventeen year old Kesha Williams. It wasn't too long before another grave was found in the woods and more bodies of varying age were discovered. They had a serial killer on their hands, and Nikki was determined to catch them...
With Nikki's six year old daughter Lacey off to her grandparents place on Boxing Day, and her significant other Rory, caring for Lacey until she left, Nikki was able to give the case her all. The horrors of what they were discovering sent shivers down Nikki's spine and she realised the killer had to be a local as he knew the area so well. But would they find him before another person was taken?
Her Frozen Heart is the 6th in the Nikki Hunt series by Stacy Green, and I loved it! Fast paced with plenty of action, the intrigue and gripping sentences kept me flying through the pages. I thoroughly enjoy this author's writing and look forward with eagerness for #7. Highly recommended.
With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.
would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this gripping novel
wow this author has done it again...kept me reading when i should have been trying to sleep and also getting ready for work
a body is found in a frozen lake by a fisherman.....
there is talk the initial investigation wasnt done properly because of race but nikki's job has just gotten harder as tension mounts between investigating branches
though the ending came way sooner than i thought it would the main storyline kept me glued to this book
cant wait for the next book in the brilliant series
Thank you to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for my copy of #HerFrozenHeart by #StacyGreen
This is the sixth book in the Nikki Hunt series and her best yet.
When Kesha Williams body is found Nikki is one of the first on the scene and promises she will catch the killer.
Then another body is found, how long do they have until another young girl goes missing. With Christmas on top of them and heavy snow making everything harder can Nikki keep her promise.
Another absolutely amazing book in the Nikki Hunt Series! My top reason for loving this series is Nikki and Rory . I can follow these two characters thru many future books. All books in this series have the perfect amount of mystery and suspense to keep you reading into the night. Nikki is on the hunt again this time to find out who killed Kesha. Love this series!!
Nikki Hunt has easily become one of my favorite detective characters in a mystery cop thriller because of how realistic she is as a person in the book. In the last five books, Nikki has been through everything possible that could cause trauma and she still gets up to work through all the stuff because of her daughter that continues to be her whole world.
In this book, a teenager was taken from Mall of America and just vanished. Later she was found by a fisherman under the ice at the start of winter. This leads to a hunt for a killer and eventually a serial killer once more bodies are found. The only thing is that the first body is from a long time ago and that would mean that the killer is a local originally. Nikki works through the crime and leads her to some unusual and scary places.
This books are just a lot of fun and Stacy Green creates characters that you fall for and sympathize for even when they do things in their day to day life that you would not necessarily agree with. I recommend this book for anyone who likes crime procedure type books that do not take themselves too seriously. I can't wait for the next installment of the series and will continue to read them until the end of the line.
I was caught up in the story right away wishing I had read the previous 6 Nikki Hunt books. Case was interesting, and all the references to her back story and previous cases were enough to keep me interested. I figured out the killer about half way through but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment.
❄What a way to spend Christmas!🎄⏳
4-4.5🌟 stars
This suspenseful murder investigation started off really strong and that momentum lasted through most of the book. The search for a violent serial killer waits for no holiday!
Nikki Hunt is so devoted to her FBI mission of hunting down dangerous criminals that she barely blinks when called into service on a new case on Christmas Eve! But she's a mom, too, with a six year-old daughter still dealing with her father's death at a serial killer's hands. The author does a great job of filling in Nikki's private life but maintaining primary focus on the investigation. Green also keeps the tension high as the clock ticks down for a missing person who may also have fallen into the killer's grip.
I found the killer reveal and climax a bit abrupt and disappointing, but the bulk of the read was exciting and enjoyable. This is an author and a heroine that I will definitely continue to follow.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
On Christmas Eve, Agent Nikki Hunt is called to a crime scene where an Ice Fisherman pulled the body of a dead teenager out of the water. Kesha Williams went missing on Black Friday from the Mall of America, and hadn’t been seen again until her body was discovered. As more bodies are uncovered and another person is discovered missing, Nikki and her team race the clock to solve the mystery.
This book is the 6th installment of the Nikki Hunt series, but the first one I’ve read. It eluded to a lot of situations that have happened in the previous books, which made me want to go back to read the start of the series! Overall I really enjoyed the story, it was action packed with lots of twisty and disturbing details, but I felt like some storylines kind of fell off, and I was left with wanting more info as to how things were resolved. I give it 3.5 stars!
Thank you netgalley and Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for my honest feedback!
Wow! I had to watch cartoons after reading this one! Creepy and depraved are not enough to describe the sick serial killer in this book! This is another installment in the Nikki Hunt series. FBI Agent Nikki Hunt is a survivor. I love her character. Her world has been rocked several times over her lifetime, but instead of cowering in a corner somewhere, she is out there looking for monsters. Nikki is getting ready to enjoy Christmas when she gets a call that a body has been found in the frozen lake. It turns out to be a local teenage girl who has been missing since the day after Thanksgiving. The condition of the body shows just the true depravation of this killer's mind. Stacy Green knows how to write a gritty suspense filled book that will hook you into the pages from the beginning of the book. This book held my full attention until the shocking conclusion, and I do mean shocking conclusion! This plot would make a perfect episode on Criminal Minds. So, it will definitely give you the creeps, but you will not be able to put it down (even if you have to sleep with the lights on)! This one is another winner for Stacy Green and Nikki Hunt! Stacy Green gives you enough back story about the characters, so you can read this as a standalone. However, it would probably be helpful to read this series in order. Lisa Regan and D. K. Hood fans will devour this book!
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A great suspenseful and twisty read. Nikki has a lot to deal with in this case: being short staffed, tension between the FBI and local law enforcement, a serial killer with no clear MO, and her first Christmas without her ex-husband. This was a complex and tension filled read that I thoroughly enjoyed. The characters are well developed and the family dynamics, both professionally and personal, add interest and realism to the story.
Nikki Hunt book 6.
Nikki is looking forward to Christmas when she gets a phone call from her boss. The body of a missing teenager has been found by an ice fisherman.
Promising her parents she will do everything possible to find the killer Nikki's worst fears come true when a grave is discovered near the lake.
Can Nikki and the team find the deranged killer before he kills again?
Another fast paced page turner that we've grown to expect in this fabulous series.
I was gripped from the start. Can't wait for the next one.
