This is book #6 in the Nikki Hunt series, and whilst it’s part of a series it can easily be read as a standalone book. It’s Christmas, and FBI Agent Nikki Hunt is called to investigate the body of young woman found in a frozen lake. This series of books always gives me the shivers, not just because of the cold and frozen landscape but also because of the types of serial killers they seem to get in Minnesota! The location really is suited to the bleakness of the storyline!
I love Nikki’s character and it was nice to see her a little more settled in this book, getting ready to enjoy Christmas with her daughter, Lacey and boyfriend, Rory. The storyline moved along at a great pace, with the action starting very early on in the book, catching my attention right from the beginning. The case is a difficult one for Nikki and her team and they need to use all their skills in working out who is behind it. This book’s killer is a creepy one and I have to admit whilst I was completely mesmerised by the storyline, some of the descriptions of the killings were particularly gruesome! The author has done a great job however of methodically planning the storyline as everything fitted in to place perfectly and I had no idea where the story was taking me or who the killer was until it was revealed!
This book, like the others in the series, is full of twists and turns and it really keeps you guessing all the way through! The storyline is mainly focussed on the serial killer investigation, although we do get a little bit of a look into Nikki’s personal life again. I like her relationship with Rory, and it’ll be interesting to see in future books where this is going to go! A really enjoyable read, which once I started, I couldn’t put down! Would recommend!
A very fast paced story,
It’s Christmas time, Nikki, Rory and her daughter Lacy are set for a lovely day together and with Rory’s parents, but nothing could ever be so simple with Nikki’s life.
Sheriff Miller rings, they have found the body of missing girl Kesha in the frozen lake.
From there on we are full of action suspense. Hopefully this isn’t a spoiler, but I did peg the perpetrator, only to decide it wasn’t them and looked for other's.
A very good read.
Stacy Green is a superb writer.
Thanks to Netgalley and Publishers Bookouture for a chance to read this novel. This is a voluntary review.
Christmas Day starts off with finding the body of Seventeen year old Kesha Williams in a lake with her hands and feet cut off. She was found by someone ice fishing. This is FBI agent Nikki Hunt's first Christmas after loosing her husband and her and Lacey and struggling to find a new normal.
Her team is stretched thin but now she must find a serial killer. She is shocked by how ballsy this killer is by moving a body in broad daylight. He is taking men and women and there is no pattern to who he takes. He is torturing his victims and disposing of bodies in burial ground by the lake.
I loved the fast pace and how this story hooks you in the beginning. Had to laugh at the fact that body bags could be bought off of Amazon as who knew?
This is a truly remarkable crime thriller that had me hooked from the start.
Her Frozen Heart is the sixth book in the Nikki Hunt series by Stacy Green
And these are some serious page turning stories... A powerfully intriguing series.
This story is full of suspense, tension, and moments that have you sitting on the edge of your seat as the plot begins to unfold.
The characters were fantastic and really added so many depths to this brilliant story,
Fast paced with a remarkable storyline, this book was impossible to put down. A favourite of mine, and without any doubt a must read.
Addictive. I read this in one sitting. It's unputdownable… Filled with intrigue and a heart pounding conclusion, The Girls in The Snow is guaranteed to keep you up all night.!
I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
This book should definitely be on your tbr
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
Bookouture,
Thank You for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
I will post my review to my blog, platforms, BookBub, B&N, Kobo and Waterstone closer to pub date.
An absolute thrilling read! Now that Nikki has settled the custody suit bought by her former in-laws and is happy with Rory it is time to enjoy Christmas or so she thinks. Murder interrupts and she is back on the hunt for a dangerous predator. The flashbacks to see how the victim ended up in a frozen pond were heartbreaking. The crimes were horrendous but the hunt for the killer was engaging and kept me up reading way past my bedtime. I love this series and the fact that the characters have flaws which humanise them. I highly recommend this book and while it can be read as a standalone I think it is better to read it in series order. I can’t wait for the next book in the series (which hopefully will feature more of adorable Lacey). Thanks to Ms Green, the publisher and NetGalley for this Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review.
I swear I almost started crying when I saw my request to read the latest book of Nikki Hunt series was approved by Netgalley! I sent a request for The Trapped Ones too but was declined. This time I was like meh what are the chances but aaaaaaaa my wish was fulfilled. I'm bursting with excitement.
Needless to say, I started reading the instant I got my hands on the book. It's Christmas eve but Nikki barely has the time to celebrate as she is called to solve a dangerous case. No matter how hard they try, every clue seems to lead to a dead end. Will they make it out alive this time?
I LOVED IT. The intensity, the twist, the pacing - everything was perfect. It is undoubtedly a page turner. I devoured it in two sittings and I'm sure you'll love it too! There's a new addition to Mark and Rory's family who's not very helpful towards Nikki. I hope to read more about them in the next book. For now, let me give you a tiny hint - one of Nikki's past enemies return but not the way you think. Be prepared to be surprised! One Perfect Grave was my favourite in this series but man, Her Frozen Heart is unbelievable . Highly recommended ❤️
I enjoyed reading this book. It didn't matter that I have not read all the other books in the series. I thought the descriptions were good, not for those of a nervous disposition though, and the pace of the book was good. I was kept guessing as well, with a few red herrings thrown in to make the water murky, and I enjoyed that. I liked the main character, and the story was great. Good read for me.
It's Christmas Eve and bitterly cold in Stillwater where the snow is falling fast. FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt is anxious about the first festive holiday after a recent bereavement but also looking forward to spending time with her daughter, friends, and family. Unfortunately when the body of a missing teenager is found all plans are put on hold and Nikki rushes to the scene.
As the FBI and local Sheriff work together an horrific discovery is made which changes the whole focus of the investigation. With a vital member of her team on restricted duties, Nikki finds herself involved in a case which stretches even her extensive experience and results in other police departments and specialist consultants getting involved. The weather remains a hindrance but time is her greatest obstacle as Nikki finds herself in a danger she isn't at all sure she can survive.
This is the sixth Nikki Hunt mystery and an absolutely excellent addition to this wonderful series. Nikki, Rory, and Lacey are evolving well as a family unit and the other familiar protagonists are all here as well. The culprit was excellently written and with hindsight there were little hints to their identity: none of which I recognised or followed up on until far too late!
There is so much to applaud in this novel from the evolution of Nikki’s character and relationships to the complexities of a case which is superbly laid out. I am in awe of the author's knowledge and ability to weave such an excellent plot which I enjoyed immensely.
I was able to read an advanced copy of this book but the opinions expressed are my own. This is an excellent must read addition to the Nikki Hunt Mystery Series
It’s Christmas Eve and Nikki is at home with Rory and her daughter Lacey. They’re preparing to celebrate at Rory’s parents house before Lacey goes with her grandparents to Florida the following day.
Looking forward to the festivities, Nikki’s phone rattles across the work surface, it’s Sheriff Miller and on Christmas Eve it can mean only one kind of news, bad news.
A body has been pulled out of the frozen lake and it has been identified as a young woman who went missing on Black Friday. It’s down to Agent Nikki Hunt and her colleagues to find out how she got there and whose responsible.
Another absolutely brilliant book. I really do enjoy this series of books and each one is different but it always feels like I am settling in with an old friend each time I pick up a book. As with any great crime thriller there was an epic twist which I didn’t see coming. The only small down side was I felt the ending happened quite quickly. It wasn’t a bad ending but I just didn’t expect it to end where it did.
Absolutely loved it! Stacy Green is on top form and building serious momentum with her Nikki Hunt series.
Stacy is this rare, semi-undiscovered gem in the crime fiction world. She writes like she’s written for decades and yet this is only book 6! Her style is edgy and fast paced with lots of police procedural and criminology insight. If you love Angela Marsons then Stacy is the one to watch - this author is set for big things.
Book 6 sees a much different and changed Nikki. Slowly finding the new normal after loosing her ex husband to the Frost killer and almost her and her daughters lives. What should’ve been a bitter sweet first Christmas without Taylor turns into a serial killer man hunt. One that will test all of Nikki’s and her teams skills as this person is clever and calculating and might possibly have the upper hand.
The way in which this story unfolds is nothing short of break neck speed. It literally grabs you by the eye balls and doesn’t let go until it’s all over.
My only criticism of the book is that I felt the ending and the conclusion of the murders was too swift in comparison to the build up. It was nothing short or terrifying - don’t get me wrong it’s brilliant you won’t see it coming - but up until the ‘big reveal’ this case was almost unsolvable. Then all of a sudden… here’s your murdered, here’s your confession and evidence… and that’s the end! In all honesty it probably happened at just the right time and way. But I just enjoyed the hunt so much that I was utterly broken that the book was over.
Hurry up Stacy I need more books!
Thanks to NetGalley for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
Thanks to Stacy and NetGalley for allowing me to read Her Frozen Heart before the publication date.
This was the sixth book in the series but the first which I have read and I felt that I would have enjoyed it more had I had greater insight into the characters.
The book starts in 1989 with a teenage boy overhearing his older sister’s plans to escape from their strict disciplinarian family where punishments are handed down for minor infringements.
In the current day, Special Agent Nikki Hunt prepares to support her daughter Lacey on the first Christmas since Lacey’s father died.
Several weeks earlier, teenager Kesha Williams was reported missing. The local police cannot look beyond her boyfriend, Dion, even though her parents are adamant that it has nothing to do with Dion.
On Xmas eve, ice fisherman Danny Stanton reports finding Kesha’s mutilated body under the ice on the lake.
The local sheriff calls on the support of the FBI.
In her haste to claim the reward, Stanton’s wife has gone public, contacting Kesha’s family before the police can notify them of the find.
Before Nikki can reach the lake, the media have descended.
The holiday season makes it difficult to get teams to search the area around the lake. When a mass grave is found, Nikki realises that she is dealing with a serial killer.
Can the team identify the victims and identify the killer?
With the chief trying to pacify the media and the local residents, there are loads of twists and turns in the story.
Book 6 in the series….I’m loving this series. Nikki is called out after the body of a missing teen is pulled from the Lake. This starts off a chain of events leading to yet another serial killer for Nikki to track down! The plot was ingenious and I really like the characters as well. If you’re looking for a fast pace story that you can get swept into fairly quickly this is the book for you.
FBI Agent Nikki Hart's holidays are interrupted when teenage girl body is found on a frozen Minnesota lake. This leads the team to finding a killer's dumping ground of his victims.
The hunt for the killer by using the evidence from the bodies and figuring out their identities was thrilling. You knew the killer was smart and cunning and had been doing this a long time.
Though this Nikki is still trying to deal with her traumatic past all while trying to be strong and supportive to her daughter after the murder of her father. Rory is such a great supportive boyfriend to Nikki and her daughter.
I blew through this book in a day and cant wait to see what's next.
Her Frozen Heart (Nikki Hunt Book 6), by Stacy Green
I really love an edgy thriller and Her Frozen Heart definitely has all the dark elements of an intricate mystery. While this is book 6 in the Nikki Hunt series, it is my first time reading Stacy Green's work. I may have connected the characters quicker if I had read the books in order, but it is very enjoyable as a stand-alone.
Synopsis:
Special Agent Nikki Hunt is called to the scene of a murder. The body of missing teen Kesha Williams has been discovered in the icy waters of a local lake. Kesha leaves behind a grieving family seeking answers to her death. Can Special Agent Nikki Hunt solve this troubling case?
Her Frozen Heart follows the trail of a sadistic serial killer. Green's writing style is well fleshed out and had me hooked. The only tiny issue I had was that two of the characters names are quite similar, and I had to remind myself which one I was reading about until I got to know them. It is exciting to find a new author and I look forward to reading more of Stacy Green's books.
Her Frozen Heart (Nikki Hunt Book 6) by Stacy Green is available on October 13th.
(4.25 ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫)
Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture, for sharing this intriguing story with me. Your kindness is appreciated.
I LOVE the Nikki Hunt series! This one was grittier than her previous books, and it was really creepy to see how profilers think and get inside the mind of a serial killer. I absolutely loved it and can’t wait for the next one! I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Nikki Hunt is back and better than ever!!
When she receives a call on Christmas Eve that he recently missing victim has been found, floating in a ice river, she doesn’t hesitate… she goes right into Nikki mode
I absolutely love this series, while this is book six , you can read its x not be lost but you will want to start at the beginning and enjoy every minute with Nikki, her team, and her family!!
I can’t wait for more from this author and this character!
When a missing girl is found on Christmas Eve, FBI Agent Nikki Hunt is called away from her family to lend a hand. The Sheriff calls her to the scene, and the case quickly takes off from there. Local PD was initially involved, and they may not have done their best on the case. Now, it's up to Nikki to find the answers for the family, before another victim falls. As a back story, this is Nikki and Lacey's first Christmas since Lacey's dad (Nikki's ex) was murdered... and Ms. Green writes the emotion and toil this takes on her characters so well. In addition, she keeps Nikki's partner on the sidelines - the absolutely wonderful Liam - as he still recovers from an injury obtained during their previous case. Absolutely FANTASTIC! I look forward to every new book in this series. Thank you to Bookouture for an advanced reader copy of this book. The views expressed are my own.
Another quick read is Her Frozen Heart by Stacy Green which I received from Bookouture via Netgalley and it will be out on 13 October.
We follow Nikki Hunt who is asked to investigate the discovery of body of a teenage girl. Another discovery puts this investigation wide open. Now, it has turned into a hunt - is she able to stop this killer?
This is book 6 in the Nikki Hunt series, but the first one I've read so far. That is also a minor drawback of the book - there are quite some references to what happened before, in the other books. So, it's not really that stand-alonishy, but you can still manage to enjoy the story. Because of it being book 6, the characters have already been worked out well and because if this particular writing it makes it easy to connect. The story itself is decent. It's quite thrilling and entertaining enough to read. I managed to guess the killer rather early on in the book so that took away some of the suspense of it. All in all, a decent enough book to read
2,75/5⭐
As a dedicated FBI agent, Nikki Hunt doesn't even get a break for Christmas with her daughter and boyfriend. A call on Christmas Eve sends her to a frozen lake where an ice fisherman caught more than he bargained for -- the remains of a young woman who disappeared from the Mall of America. Snow and frigid temperatures, along with the holidays, limits how much investigation can be done at the time. When the K9 finds a mass grave, Nikki knows that they have a serial murderer and very few clues. It's an exciting hunt for the killer that ends to quickly. The book could have used a couple more chapters, and I await the next book.
Book 6 Nikki hunt series
When Special Agent Nikki Hunt receives a call on Christmas Day, she knows it can’t be good news. Seventeen-year-old missing teenager Kesha Williams has at last been found… her body floating in an icy forest lake, miles from her hometown.
As Nikki rushes to the scene, she’s chilled to see the past repeating itself. Kesha disappeared from the mall where Nikki’s own little girl was targeted the year before. With Kesha’s grieving parents desperate for answers and the media out for blood, Nikki promises she’ll find Kesha’s killer no matter what it takes.
Local police are convinced it was Kesha’s boyfriend, who was spotted disappearing from security cameras that day at the mall, but Nikki isn’t so sure. The dense marshes and unstable ground around the crime scene mean it’s nearly inaccessible from the road. Whoever took Kesha is a local, and this probably isn’t his first kill.
Nikki’s worst fears are confirmed when the team find another grave on the shore a second teenage girl, her body wound in a brightly coloured beach towel. Suddenly on the hunt for a serial killer, Nikki knows that an early break is the key to solving this case. But as the body count rises, will Nikki be able to find Kesha’s killer… or will he find her first?
Really enjoyed this book totally recommend
