I read this during the last few days of December and the first few days of January, it was one of those perfect for riding me over between Christmas and New Years.
It was a nice, uplifting and excellent Christmas romance, one that I’ll be returning to next year for my Christmas book recommendations on my Instagram.
It was THAT good.
I absolutely ADORED this book. I loved it so much I’ve read it twice now and went back and bumped up my initial star rating. Both times I read it, I finished it in one sitting because it’s that good.
Holiday Romance was everything I could ever want in, well, a holiday romance. The story was so cute and if it were a movie, it would be one I had on repeat.
I loved Molly so much. Her inner thoughts had me cracking up and I related to her a lot. Her and Andrew together was just so 😍. Not to mention, I just loved the premise of the book. They went on a freaken JOURNEY to get home for the holidays and it was all so exciting.
I did not want this book to end. Hence why I read it twice already. I almost never reread books but I have a feeling I’ll be reading this again next year!
This book was the perfect holiday read! It was more of a romantic comedy, and it made me want to read more books by this author! I loved the dynamic between Molly and Andrew, and I don't think there was much room for improvement with this book! I would recommend this if you want a fun holiday read!
I never fail to enjoy a book written by Catherine Walsh and this was one of my favourite festive reads that I read over the Christmas holidays this year.
Her books always make me feel warm and fuzzy and that was certainly true of this book.
I loved the alternating chapters between the past and the present and the main characters actually felt like a real couple instead of simply an unrealistic book couple, if that makes any sense, even if there were a few cheesy lines/conversations.
It did drag a little in the middle, which was probably my only issue with it.
However, if you like friends to lovers or slow burn romances that aren't particularly steamy, this is a book that you simply need to pick up.
It also reminded me of Emily Henry's brilliant You And Me On Vacation, so if you enjoyed that book but would like it with a festive twist, you should pick Holiday Romance up.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Holiday Romance by Catherine Walsh, Pub Date: October 4, 2022. Rating: 5 stars. A tale of two people who always catch the same flight home to Ireland for the holidays, Molly and Andrew seem to weave in and out of each other's lives. They stay connected periodically throughout the year, but always connect on their flight home. This year, there is a snowstorm that derails their plans. Bound and determined to get home, Molly finds a way to get their travels in order to get both of them home. On their journey, realizations are made and feelings are caught resulting in a feel good story with a dash of humor. I absolutely loved this novel and laughed multiple times while reading. This book is the perfect feel good Christmas story. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review. #holidayromance #netgalley
This was such a good friends to lovers holiday romance! It totally felt like a hallmark movie in the form of a book! I loved the friendships, dual timeline, traditions, and the romance. If you’re looking for a good holiday romance, you will love this one!
This book was super fun. I love the spontaneity even if it was because of certain circumstances. It was a romance like I had never read before. A friends to lovers over many years and an interesting backdrop. The characters were full of life and love. I did find it to drag on quite a bit though.
Holiday Romance provides a great balance of humor and festive feels while following the "will they or won't they" journey of Molly and Andrew. For ten years, they have taken the same flight from Chicago back home to Ireland during Christmas and for ten years they enjoy catching up and sharing this special time together. We get a glimpse of previous flights home, times they have met up during the year and watch how their friendship has developed. Molly, decidedly not a Christmas person, and Andrew, a total Christmas fanatic, encounter airport and winter weather chaos during this tenth year. When it looks like they won't make it home for Christmas Molly promises to get Andrew home. While nothing romantic has happened over the last ten years there is an undercurrent between them that cannot be denied. Told in alternating timelines this is a fun and warm holiday read that will make even Scrooge laugh.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
Molly and Andrew have been travelling back to Ireland together for the holidays for years. This year nothing goes to plan but she is determined to help him get home - will this be the year they start to see each other in a new light? A fun, fast paced read.
Thank you @netgalley @bookouture for the e-arc! 4.5 stars! The perfect book to read on a snow day right before Christmas ❤️ It is a fun, adventurous read, not too steamy. Funny, has great family drama/adventures. All around a great holiday read
I loved reading this one. I just love this kind of books.
5 stars read for me. I love this author snd her writing style.
Thanks to netgally for this arc.
Right up top I'm going to say that I wish this book had a different title. I think Holiday Romance is too bland for this fun story!
I loved the back and forth timeline, watching Molly and Andrew's relationship develop in their annual flight home and then the real time development of their feelings for each other. I couldn't put this book down and it will definitely go into my rotation of sweet holiday books to read leading up to Christmas.
Loved this one, it was a great holiday romance! For a full review, I have included my Goodreads review link!
I loved the beginning of this one so much. Had similar vibes to People We Meet on Vacation which is one of my favourite romances.
I found the middle dragged a bit, the present timeline seemed to include some unnecessary details making it feel a bit longer than it needed to be.
Love the friendship and the flights over ten years. A solid friends to lovers plot.
This is one of my favorite books of this year! Let me tell you I absolutely loved it, and yes, I'm starting my review by instantly recommending you read this story.
This book tells us about the enemies-to-friends-to-lovers story of Molly and Andrew who've been traveling together every Christmas from Chicago to Dublin for the last ten years. This year is their anniversary, and everything doesn't go according to plan. A snowstorm grounds their flight, so Molly, who actually hates Christmas, promises Andrew, who is a fanatic for the festive season, to get him back home for Christmas whatever it takes.
I'm a sucker for Christmas rom-coms, and this one was just SO good. I love friends-to-lovers and grumpy-sunshine tropes, so this book was literally perfect for me. Molly is a strong female character, I love her determination, and I also enjoyed the fact that she felt lost with her job because I feel the same right now, so it was really relatable.
Andrew is another great main character, and yes, I added him to my list of the best male characters, because THIS MAN. I need Andrew in my life, and I won't elaborate on that. Just read this book, it is so good, I promise.
Thank you NetGalley for an eArc of this book!
This was such a fun holiday read! Molly and Andrew have been on the same flight every year during Christmas time to go home to Ireland for the Holidays for the past 10 years. The book alternates between the present and each of their past flights so you get to see their friendship develop and see where they are now. I loved their adventure trying to get home and the Christmas setting was perfect. I love a friends to lovers slow burn and this was definitely it!
Holiday Romance by Catherine Walsh
A bit late with this review! If you haven't already read it then it's one to put on the list as your 2023 light Christmas read. (I think most of irish bookstagram read it this year since it was @tiredmammybookclub December choice).
This Christmas Romance book follows Molly and Andrew who end up on the same flights home for Christmas each year. This year due to a storm they end up on a longer journey trying to get home. The characters were really likeable and I was invested in their story.
Is it a wee bit cheesy? Yes. Is it still a good read? Absolutely. It made me smile and helped me get in to a Christmasy mood. It did make me laugh and I flew through it. I will be adding other Catherine Walsh books to my to be read list.
Thank you to Netgalley uk, the author and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Loved loved loved this book! I loved how we get to go back and forth between present day and all the flights leading up to their current feelings for each other. This was a joy! And I love that the book doesn't end at their final flight destination...that was a happy surprise. Would absolutely read more of her books!
This book was precious! Such a fun, easy holiday read that was a perfect departure from thrillers and mysteries. Perfect for the Christmas season.
I love a good Christmas book! A wonderful "Holiday Romance" to read this time of year. This book had me giggling and rooting so hard for our two main protagonists.
