Silent Angel by Helen Phifer
The girl’s head is bent as if in prayer. Her hands tied tightly together, her bare feet against the cold sand. The last she ever felt before she breathed her last breath.
What a great thriller. My first book in this series. Couldn’t put it down. Just hoping they would find Milly alive. Many twists and turns until the end. Super characters, I recommend this book.
Thanks to Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for my review.
I do like this series, the characters and any new plots that the author comes up with. It is always an intelligent read and one that keeps my attention throughout.
I was given a free copy by the publishers and netgalley but the review is entirely my own.
I am a fan of this author, and love this series so much. Morgan finds herself having to work out if a colleague is involved in a case or not.
Great addition to the series.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy.

Thanks NetGalley
this is the 7th book in the series. The book moves at a fast pace and the suspense was spot on. You are able to read this as a standalone if you havent read any of the others. I was glued to the book and couldnt stop turning the pages.
Silent Angel is the 7th book in the Detective Morgan Brookes series and it is one that I very much enjoy. In this outing, Amanda forgoes her birthday celebration when she heads to a crime scene with Ben. A young girl has been found in a ditch in the churchyard wrapped in a white sheet. Her hair has been cut off and she is only a teen who was picked up while waiting for her sister to pick her up. She had been missing for two weeks and Morgan is concerned about what she may have suffered over that time. Forensic evidence shows that there is sandy soil on her feet that comes from a nearby island, so the team heads over to see what they can find out. When a second girl of similar age and appearance is reported missing, the team step it up to find Milly alive before they find her body.
Silent Angel is another well written crime thriller that had me guessing until the end. There were a few suspects, one being the local vicar, who recently moved to the area and found the first body. He and Morgan had a very odd relationship and he gave me the creeps. There was also some suspicion toward a police officer who was last seen in the company of the second young woman who disappeared. Now they also have to find their colleague as well as the missing girl. This book had me on the edge of my seat and I wanted Milly to be found alive, she was such a wonderful character. I found this book to be fast paced, gripping and it kept me guessing. I enjoy the team that Morgan and Ben work with and there is some problems with the team in this book that needs to get sorted. There is some romance, great friendships and a wonderful team atmosphere that keeps me reading. I am already looking forward to the next book in this series.
This is the seventh book in the series featuring Detective Morgan Brookes and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The series is set in the fictional village of Ryder Falls in the Lake District. Morgan and her partner and boyfriend Ben are about to go on a night out to celebrate Morgan’s birthday when they are called out to investigate the discovery of a young girl’s body found in the local churchyard. They discover that the girl has been missing for weeks. She had been abducted from Blackpool so how did she come to be murdered and dumped in Ryder Falls. The new vicar Theo had discovered the girl’s body and Morgan soon has her suspicions about him. As their investigation continues another young girl is abducted and Des, a member of Morgan’s team, goes missing so she knows that they have a race against time to find the girl and Des before it’s too late, I love this series of books and this one certainly had me gripped with all the twists and turns, I can’t wait for more!
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
I seem to be reading this series backwards, oh well. Each story is a new crime in this town of serial killers. Morgan and her team are on the hunt for a killer, will they strike again?
There are a few red herrings thrown in, is the vicar involved and what has happened to their team member?
Another girl goes missing and the race is on to find clues to save her before her time is up.
This was one exciting mystery, I couldn't put it down.
SILENT ANGEL is the Seventh book in a police procedural series featuring Detective Morgan Brookes by Helen Phifer. I have read all of the books in this series and this book is a definite winner! Although this book can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the books in order to get a full history.

BOOK 3-THE HIDING PLACE
BOOK 4-FIRST GIRL TO DIE
BOOK 5-FIND THE GIRL

BOOK 7-SILENT ANGEL
This is my review of Sleeping Dolls.
This is DC Morgan Brookes first day back at work in the CID office, in Rydal Falls, known as CAST, Crime and Safeguarding Team, after a run-in with The Travelling Man. She had been abducted and injured by a serial killer named The Travelling Man, who now was in jail.
The cast of the small control team includes:
Sergeant Ben Matthews
Detective Morgan Brookes
DC Amy Smith
DC Des Black
Detective Morgan Brookes and her boss, Sergeant Ben Matthews are a couple, and Morgan has finally moved in with him.
When the body of a teenage girl is found in Rydal Falls’ churchyard, Detective Morgan Brookes abandons her own birthday to attend the scene. The girl is wrapped in a white sheet and her hair
The autopsy reveals that the body is of a sixteen-year-old, Shea Wilkinson that has been missing for weeks…but only dead for a few hours. When Morgan is told the sand on the victim’s feet is from a nearby island, Morgan is off to investigate.
But then Morgan hears that another girl has gone missing, Milly who is a nurse at an old age home, that Morgan knew. Is the new vicar involved? Morgan needs to find Milly fast before she ends up dead.
This is a fast-paced crime thriller with intriguing characters with a plot filled with twists and turns.
Many thanks to the author, Bookouture and Net Galley for my digital copy.
Helen Phifer is my favorite writer after Angela Marsons. Her book always has that plot that keeps me intrigued every time. I'm so happy to see Morgan on the pages again. Can't wait for Book 8.
Love this series and this didn’t disappoint. .interesting story full of tension and thrills. It was so good I read it in one sitting. A real page turner that you just can’t put down. I adore Helen’s books, they are all amazing. Highly recommended and five stars.
This is the second book of this series I have read, but it is not for me. I liked the characters, the plot and the concept for this book. However, the story develops very slowly, which makes it hard for me to stay engaged. When the story moves it is really good, but those parts are sprinkled throughout. If you don't have a problem with staying engaged, this really is a good book.
I’m a huge fan of Helen Phifer and you should definitely check out her Beth Adam’s and Lucy Harwin series as well as this one. This can be read as a stand alone but as usual, I recommend reading in order so that you can see the characters but especially Morgan grow. Morgan is still frustratingly putting herself at risk to save lives. You can’t help but love her though. There are some great supporting characters as well. With regards to the hunt for the killer, I was hooked and kept guessing by red herrings and plenty of twists and turns.
I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
A heart stopping thriller. The body of a young girl is found, another goes missing and Morgan is working against the clock to find her alive. The tension was palpable and kept me reading into the night.
Just absolutely wow! I love this author and each of her books has been a five star read for me. And this one - wow! Just incredibly gripping. Loved it.
I didn't read all the books in this series and I'm wondering why because all those I read are well plotted and gripping.
This one kept me on the edge and guessing, turining pages as fast as I could.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

Sipping thoughts: Morgan Brookes is at it again and won’t rest until she finds the killer. This time the killer is hitting very close to home. I love seeing the progression in her love life as well as all the successful arrests and solved mysteries. I can’t wait to continue reading but my fear is that her luck may run out soon.
Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @Bookouture for an advanced copy of @SilentAngel.
