After reading the Highland Wolf, I was excited to see that the next sister, Allissaid, gets her turn at love. This time, it is the same villain who has kept trying to steal other clans' lands for himself through kidnapping the laird's daughter and a violent takeover.
Allissaid escaped and ran into Calan who believed that she lost her memory. Understandably, she is not sure who she can trust and if anyone would give her back to her captor.
Lots of drama, intrigue, and romance as Calan and Allissaid grow closer as their attraction grows. They are helped along by his mother and sister!
I could guess who one of the spies was so was not surprised when their reappearance resulted in Allissaid getting captured - again.
Hope that there will be a book with Calan's sister!
Ok so ordinarily I love all of these books in this series, and for most of this book-I did love it. Allissaid is this strong woman who while afraid, she still will do what she can to do what is the right thing to do. Calan is this stand up man who always tries to do the right thing, even to the extent of his own pain and suffering. Now here is where it got knocked down a bit by me. Allissaid is so bruised and beaten that she can't walk and is plainly suffering (and it does go with the story, so that isn't my issue) but even with all the pain she is in-she still wants to have relations with Calan? I honestly don't see that, and it was a drawback for me. But it truly is the only thing that annoyed me with this story. Everything else, I loved. I loved how their story comes around, how they truly come to know each other and that they are not only trustworthy but good people. And the action and twists that come to pass definitely kept me intrigued and wanting to know more. As always, I am looking forward to the next book in this series as I am sure it will be another great read!
Another great book from Lynsay Sands. Suspense and action is always present. I loved the start of this book with the stolen plaid. I even like that even when Lynsay writes historical romance where women were the property of their father then husband she still manages to create strong female characters. I think that's what I love most about her books. I've read other authors books and many times they tend to stereotype their characters based on tv type stereotypes. Like the young girl is dumb and foolish or the black guy a drug dealer, and do on. But Lynsay always makes the characters real with their own personalities emerging. This is what brings me back to her books and why I stay so engaged while reading that I usually finish the books in 2-3 days.
I have been reading this author for a long time and each book is better than the next. One of my favorite things about this author is her creative ability to pull me into the story with her characters. They bring the story to life and make me feel as if I am part of it. This book is no different. This is a well written story where the characters are steamy and add to the story. They are strong, supportive, and engaging. They had me coming back for more. i enjoyed how they pulled me into their world and kept me there until the end. They have great chemistry and growth throughout the story which made it easy and entertaining to read. This is a must read story that you don't want to miss. I highly recommend this book and this author.
Fun and Formulaic is Sands band when it comes to her Highlander romances, and I am always on board of the ride! In Her Highlander's Bed is the eleventh installment in her Highlander's Brides series. I always know when I pick up a Lynsay Sands' book that I will swept away on a fast paced, insta-love ride, with a smattering of a mystery at the end. Sands' writing is quickly engaging, has an element of quirkiness and hyperbole the plays well with her melodramatic tone. This book is entertainment at its base form and it is exactly what I want out of Sands' Highlander romances.
After a failed kidnapping from a foe clan, our Heroine finds herself in the midst of a stranger and claims to not know her name in order to protect herself and her identity from those she does not trust yet. This novel does have some off page abuse that is done to the heroine, so be aware of that. This novel, out of some of Sands' more recent, has less of an over dramatic and quirky feel, which was alright with me and gave some of the situations a bit more of a feeling rooted in realism. I always really enjoy and find delight in the sweet and quick romances of Sands' Highlander novels. The hero is immediately protective of the heroine, is attracted by her and throughout the novel learns to find her true value. I always enjoy that the heroine is also instantly attracted to the hero, notices his protectiveness and sees past his hardness to the soft and emotional man he can be.
This novel is softly enjoyable, and any lover of Lynsay Sands' will find delight and joy with in. This novel is heavy with care taking (a favorite trope of mine), softness and charm. I really enjoyed a fake amnesia trope, as our heroine is learning to trust the people who have helped to rescue her. I adored our cinnamon roll of a hero and heroine together, they are both so sweet. Sands' also does a lovely job with all of the side characters throughout this novel, they are fun and entertaining. And there are some really lovely and gentle moments of relationship building that make this romance endearing.
I would definitely recommend this book and series from Sands, it can be read as stand-alones, but it is a true delight read in order as there are some interconnections.
I'm sorry, but this is just getting boring. It's the same book over and over again - the secret tunnel being the key to everything, the diabolical madman on the loose, the poison/attack/kidnapping...... The identity of the spy is super obvious the very first time they’re mentioned because the plot is the exact same as every other of her books. I liked the beginning of the series when it was the Buchanans and all but this is just getting boring.
This was the series that made me fall in love with romance novels. Love this series and loved this new release! Gimme these highlander men, please and thank you! #inherhighlandersbed #outnow #booktok #lynsaysands #highlandbridesseries #books #romancebooks #scotland #arc @netgalley #highlanderwanted #bodiceripper #yesplease #romancegirlie
I have read very few books placed in this time period and setting. This was a good one to start with I think. I loved the premise and while you did not have to read the book that comes before this one in the series it might have made a more connected reading experience. The male protagonist was a really fun character. I love that we got to see from both his and the female protagonist's perspective. There was just enough intrigue and suspense for me to enjoy this book without being too much. If you love suspense titles this is probably too mellow for you but if you don't do a lot of suspense this will be perfect. Can't wait to go back and read the book before this one and then read this one over again.
In Her Highlander's Bed by Lynsay Sands, book eleven in the Highland Brides series, is a protector story with an amnesia twist along with some mystery and a villain. Calan Campbell, Laid of Kilcairn was just hoping for a quick morning swim, not a thief making off with his plaid while he was in the loch. Catching the lad and retrieving his plaid was no issue, but when he discovers he’s just inadvertently tackled a young woman, leaving her unconscious, and unable to explain how she came to be bruised from head to toe and naked in his woods, he realizes he must take her back to his own castle so she can heal, and he can get some answers.
Lady Allissaid MacFarlane risked her life to escape the tower her family’s enemy had locked her in after forcing a sham marriage on her. After struggling over a plaid she hoped to borrow, she wakes in an unfamiliar room with an unfamiliar man seated next to her. Not knowing if he’s a friend to her clan or to their enemy, she claims to have lost her memory in order to gain herself some time to learn where his allegiances lie. However, the more time she spends talking with Calan, the more Allissaid realizes he’s a caring, honorable man she could fall for, someone she’s quickly come to trust with her life.
Ms. Sands wrote a vibrant and sexy historical romance that should not to be missed. She provided a tale with thrills, amusing banter, sizzling chemistry, and charming characters giving Calan y and Allissaid a chance for happiness, love and a future together. I definitely recommend In Her Highlander's Bed to other readers.

This is the story of Allisaid McFarlane, the second daughter to Laird McFarlane, who after hearing that her eldest sister has married her betrothed, learns that her father, the laird of McFarlane, has requested that each of his remaining daughter's betrotheds come to their home so that they can marry in order to prevent their neighbor, Maldouen McNaughton from forcing a marriage between himself and one of them. Allisaid ends up being kidnapped by men who were sent by McNaughton and as he is trying to force her to consummate their forced marriage, she gets away by jumping out of a window. McNaughton has beaten her excessively and as she runs away, without any clothes, she spies a kilt lying by a body of water. As she attempts to steal the kilt, the owner of the kilt observes her and tackles her in order to retrieve it. Allisaid passes out and the owner of the kilt, Laird Calan Campbell takes her back to his home, Kilcairn and places her in his bed in order to care for her until she wakes up. Calan, who is recovering from a wound to his chest, is hesitant to allow his mother or sister to know of his patient as his mother is very protective of him. Initially Allisaid pretends not to have a memory of what happened to her because she wasn't sure if Calan was friend or foe. Eventually his sister spies Allisaid in his room and his mother finds out she is there after an attempt by Allisaid to leave the keep. As she is healing, she and Calan become closer to each other as they are sharing the same room. The story was exciting, steamy and romantic.
I received the story as an ARC from Netgalley and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Calan Campbell, Laird of Kilcairn, is shocked when a thief runs away with his plaid while he is swimming. He's able to catch the boy who turns out to be a young lady. He tackled her when he caught up to her and she is now unconscious. She was naked and bruised so Calan takes her back to his castle to tend to her. Allissaid was running from her clans enemy who she was being forced to wed. When she wakes up in a strange place she fakes amnesia not sure if the man can be trusted. The two begin to become better acquainted and feelings start to show. She starts to feel like she can trust Calan but giving him her heart is another story. Follow along and find out if the two are a perfect match!
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read a copy of this book!
Historical romances are hit or miss for me as I don’t need full historical accuracy but I do want it to be reasonable fictionalizations AND the common tropes (damsel in distress, kidnapping and other potential dubcon, mansplaining love interests, assault of main character, etc..) don’t really play well with my more modern sensibilities (trying to get in the spirit of things). However, I was pleasantly surprised that the author managed to create a historical setting that challenged a lot of the aforementioned tropes/plot elements. Calan admires Allissaid for being a strong, independent woman and tries to understand why she’s doing what she’s doing instead of locking her away or making decisions for her. He asks for consent, doesn’t make demands, and is not only kind to the women in his life but also genuinely respects their opinions and seeks them out (which is such a low bar but it is what it is).
I will definitely read the other books in this series as I ended up really enjoying this one.
Saved by her Highlander
Allissaid MacFarlane has been kidnapped by the enemy and forced into marriage. Unable to stand this, she fights back in order to escape and unfortunately does so while naked. Coming upon a highlander swimming in the loch, she borrows his plaid since she needs it more than him at the moment. She needs to escape!
Calan Campbell, Laird of Kilcairn, is taking a brisk swim when someone thinks to steal his plaid. He gives chase and knocks what he believes to be a young lad unconscious. To his surprise, the thief is actually a woman and a naked one at that! Taking her back to his keep, he plans on getting some answers to this conundrum. As he gets to know Allissaid, Calan can’t help but to become attracted to her while she still holds some issues with trust. Together they have to stay safe from those who mean them harm and follow their hearts for what they truly want, risks and all.
This was a wonderful story with some good humor. The characters were well written and quite likable. How Allissaid and Calan met was intriguing and entertaining and the romance was on point. Overall, this highlander romance was well written and very enjoyable!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this story and read it straight through. Lynsay Sands continues to create highlander romance that is filled with adventure, amazing characters, sizzling chemistry, and of course happily ever afters.
I definitely recommend this book and it can easily be enjoyed as a standalone.
5 Stars
Running for her life, Allissaid takes refuge under Calan's protection. Can they defeat the man who's trying to destroy them both?
These two are a perfect match. Allissaid is loyal, loving, and absolutely fierce. Calan is protective, fearless, and kind. This novel is a smart, steamy, satisfying read.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Love it! Grabs you from the start. What more can you ask for, damsel in distress, handsome Highlander to her rescue, evil Lord to catch. Allissaid MacFarlane is now is charge of helping her father run the castle since her older sister is now married. The family is still under a threat from Lord MacNaughton and her father has decreed the the family stays within the castle walls, but when she is told her little brother snuck out, she sneaks out to find him so that he will not get in trouble. Only to be captured by MacNaughton .
Calan Campbell, Laird of Kilcairn is disobeying his mother’s wishes that he be on bed rest. Still recovering from an arrow to his chest doesn’t stop him from being on patrol with his cousin. Sending him ahead so Calan can take a quick swim in in Loch, but once in the water he sees a lad taking off with his plaid. Quickly giving chase he tackles the lad only to realize it is a woman, a very badly beaten up woman. Taking her to his castle to give shelter and medical attention. Noticing the fine ring on her finger only can mean she is a Lady and now must hide her to also save her reputation. Who is she and who had so badly abused her?
Oh my! Have I been missing out. First I have read of Lynsey Sands and usually I don’t start a series that I haven’t read the previous books. This is the 11th in the series and can be read as a standalone, but now I do need to read the previous books. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #InHerHighlandersBed
A classic Lynsay Sand highlander story! I love the fact that she never disappoints and always delivers an amazing story with strong characters and big, noisy families! This is my second favorite book in the series!
Another enjoyable, lusty romp through the Scottish Highlands with Lynsay Sands! This book had all the earmarks that a reader looks to find when reading anything by this author. The attention to detail along with her ability to immediately capture her reader's attention and hold onto it throughout the pages of the books as the story unfolds, all the way up to the final paragraph. Ms. Sands has been one of my go-to authors ever since I read a book of hers for the first time, and she never disappoints, no matter what genre she happens to be writing in.
Calan and Allissaid's story was believable for the time period and kept me turning the pages until it arrived at the satisfactory HEA conclusion!

If you're looking for romance, suspense, a strong main couple, interesting setting, enriching supporting character, vile villains, and some comic relief then read this book. I loved this book and was honored to be gifted a copy. This can be read alone, however, I strongly encourage you to read the Highland Brides series or the very least Highland Wolf. If you've never read a Lynsay Sands book I envy you, because you get to discover a brilliant writer. The excitement of finding a new author and getting to read all her books for the first time. She is on my re-read list , that is my list of books by authors I've already read knowing I'm going to love it and get to experience it all over again.
I highly recommend this book,
A fun addition to Lynsay Sands' historical series, this one focuses more on the slow burn and character development of Calan and Allaissaid as individuals and as being right for each other than the mystery/adventure part of the plot. Allie has been badly hurt when Calan finds her and he takes her home to heal, discovers what she's been through, and learns to admire her bravery and strength for being willing to do whatever was necessary to escape her abductors and try to warn her family of the (additional) dangers they are in. I enjoyed how the relationship developed between the two, without the matchmaking mama needing to step in, although the secondary characters were also well done and fun. Cameos from Buchanans will make you smile if you've read earlier books in the series, but you won't miss anything character-wise if you haven't read the earlier books.
A fun new Lynsay Sands historical romance, with humorous dialogue and lovely characters, as always.
