I don’t think I’ve ever read a highlander romance but I had such a good time with this one that I’m planning on going back to read the earlier books in the series.
This does have a fairly graphic depiction of abuse and an attempted sexual assault, but I think the author handled it decently well. I liked seeing our couple grow closer through their respective healing processes and really enjoyed the cozy vibe and Calan’s mom and sister scheming to get them together. I also liked getting the tidbits about the other clans, which is what made me decide to go back to the beginning of the series. That being said, I was less impressed with the last half of the book. I struggled with the way Sands handled Allissaid’s consent to marry Calan despite actually liking their dynamic up to that point and the resolution of the MacNaughton plot was too fast and too convenient for my tastes. I also would have loved to see an epilogue showing them after events have settled.
I love a good Scottish Highlander romance. Calan and Allisaid have an interesting way that they meet, and right after, the story takes off.
Lynsay Sands brings her familiar style of flare, kidnappings, romance, and a handsome protective Laird.
There is something comforting about this series, something relaxing and easy. After I’ve read a heavy, world building Fantasy, I need a softer book. One that still draws me and stays interest—and this one does just that.
I read Highland Wolf last year and absolutely loved it. So I knew I needed to get my hands on In Her Highlander's Bed. It did not disappoint!
I loved the relationship dynamic between Allissaid and Calan. She's not sure if she's surrounded by enemies after escaping a kidnapping so she fakes amnesia. Calan is a highlander whose also a softie. I loved how gone for Allissaid Calan was from the moment he meets her. I always love when the hero falls first and needs to win the heroine over. The romance blossoms at a great pace and was totally believable. I think the tropes here were also executed really well.
Sands writing is always fun and I couldn't put this down.
If you love Outlander and highlander romances, definitely give this a try. Also try if you enjoy Tessa Dare's sense of humor.
I cannot wait to read this as an audiobook when my library hold comes in!
Lynsay Sands never fails. No matter if it is her highland series, which is the only historical romance i have been reading now for a few years after burning myself out, or her “Vampire” series Sands never fails to entertain. Finishing it in one sitting i found that she did a great job with her characters.
All her books can be read as standalone in the highland series but i recommend reading them in order if possible, as the characters cross over here in there from the other books. I can’t wait to read the next book she brings out and will purchasing a physical copy for my library.
In Her Highlander's Bed is a Highland Romance filled with the wit and friendship characters are known for in the Highland Brides series by Lynsay Sands.
I found this an endearing love story between the main characters. We meet some new characters and get to revisit some of the Buchanans from previous books as they make an appearance in support of their cousin.
I really do like the main characters they are interesting and likable with entertaining, clever dialogue. The story was really good and kept me interested throughout.
This can be read as a stand-alone even though it is 11th in the series. The information you need to fully enjoy without feeling lost is provided for you but I highly recommend reading the entire series.
Thank-you to Avon & Harper Voyager and NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I look forward to submitting a review on Goodreads when HarperCollins signs a fair contract with the union representing their hard-working employees. Thank you to the marketing and editorial employees behind this book. Best, Kit
Calan is a laird, Allisaid is a lady. Their paths cross after Calan tackles a fleeing Allisaid to the ground when she steals his plaid. Unknown to Calan, Allisaid is running for her life from an evil foe, who is attempting to marry her and kill her family.
Allisaid uses the tackle to convince Calan she can’t remember anything. She’s obviously injured, and Calan and his clan nurse her back to health…and well, this is a romance novel after all.
I really enjoyed this. I found the characters endearing and loved how their story developed. While Allisaid is healing they are able to spend time together, creating a believable romance. This novel also includes clan politics, and a ton of action for a romance. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
This was my second novel by Sands, and I now want to read this series’ backlist!
Another fabulous visit to the highlands with Lynsay Sands! Imagine meeting the girl of your dreams when she steals your clothes and leaves you naked and dripping wet. That is just how our hero meets our heroine! Wonderful to catch up with the Buchannan clan too! Happy reading!
Let me start by saying that the Highland Brides series by Lynsay Sands is one of my favorite romance series. With that, this latest novel is just slightly less than the rest. As usual, the characters are brilliantly written. The dynamics and relationships between the characters are well developed.
Where this novel falls short is in the mystery department. In all the other Highland Brides novels, a calamity strikes early and repeatedly throughout the book; yet we are left wondering who's responsible until the end. With this book, we know who the villain is from the start. The villain is revealed early and doesn't really make a reappearance until the end of the novel. That is a letdown because I read this series as much for the mystery and intrigue as for the romance.
Despite the well written characters and the steamy romance, the lack of mystery is a big issue. I give this novel a solid 3 stars.
This was another fantastic story! You should recognize some of the characters from previous books, if you have read other books by Lynsay Sands. You can’t help but love how sweet Calan is and is always trying to do what is right for the little lass he saved. The woman doesn’t recall who she is but he has a feeling there is more to it than that. Calan also has a suspicion of what family she belongs to based on her looks. The more time he spends with her the more he discovers he really gets along with her and enjoys her presence. Will they be able to continue their budding relationship while keeping her hidden and safe? I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This series just keeps getting better! I would highly recommend reading this series. Without going over more of what everyone else has, this installment focuses on Calan and Allissaid. I have to admit, I eyerolled a bit at the trope that Calan mistook her for a young boy, but it worked well with the story and wasn't belabored. This book can be read as a standalone and I've read some of these out of order, but I would totally recommend starting from the begining!
This is my first Lynsay Sands book, and I really enjoyed it! The story was really good and kept me interested throughout. While she is supposed to stay in the the boundaries of her castle so she is not kidnapped by an enemy clan, Allisaid steps out of the safety of her own home to find her brother, and ends up waking up with a hot Scot named Calum watching over her. He's saved her from a clan plotting against her family, and they end up finding a simmering attraction between each other. The story is interesting, exciting, not too suspenseful or angsty, and fast-moving.
I am a snappy, descriptive dialogue fan, which is done exceptionally well. The one slightly distracting part of the dialogue was the brogue written into the dialogue, but that is typical in a historical romance and not really a complaint about In Her Highlander's Bed but more of a distraction in books set with Scottish characters in general. There may be a little more in this book. But a small quibble!
The descriptiveness is great-- I felt like I could picture what was happening as I read. I really liked In Her Highlander's Bed! This is in the tail end of a series of Highland Brides, but could be read as a standalone. I'll definitely be reading more Lynsay Sands, this was a fun read!
I received this book as an ARC for Netgalley for my honest opinion. If you like HR and especially intriguing Scottish HRs, this will be up your alley!
To say Lynsay Sands is one of my favorite authors is an understatement.
Her books are buy and keep for me. However, when I saw this was available for review on Netgalley I leaped at the chance to get it.
I am not sure if I read the previous book, but maybe I didn't do my Goodreads review, but even though this is 11th in a series, it can be read as a stand-alone.
The heroine is very brave and the hero just adorable, a laird who really respects his mother. The heroine is smart and quick thinking, as well as brave. She and Calan are really perfect for each other.
There isn't as much of a mystery as in the previous books, but some tension on waiting for the villain to reappear.
I only had one small quibble as Sands uses the phrase "not a fan of pain" twice in the book, and the anachronism jumped out at me. Otherwise, the dialogue is fine. Thanks to NetGalley and them publisher for providing this EARC. I will now go and find book 10.

In Her Highlander's Bed is the 11th installment in the "Highland Brides" series. From the moment that I saw this beauty I knew that I just had to read it. There is something so endearing about the way that this author has written this series. There is such great family connection in this one here. It was so charming to see the way that this story came together. Lynsay Sands definitely wrote a treasure. So if you are a fan of the series or just the author, you will have a fun time with it.
In Her Highlander's Bed is where our hero is enjoying a cold bath in the Loch, having recently recovered from a arrow wound to the chest. But when he sees someone trying to steal his clothing, he chases them and discovers its a woman posing as a boy. He brings her to his castle, to help her with her injuries where amnesia is present. As Calen is determined to figure out the truth, there is an endearing chemistry that is building between them. But the secrets come out and soon they might have to come together to protect those that they love.
In Her Highlander's Bed we have such an interesting romance and I know that Amnesia might throw some readers off, but its short, and not dragged out throughout the story. I really enjoyed both of these characters here, they had such a good bond. I loved the highlander feel to the story and the focus on the clans and the laws with the King, it was really interesting. Lynsay Sands did such a good job with it. The romance was so delightful though, they had powerful chemistry and are so caring towards each other. And once they get on with the smexy times, it really hits just right for them. The family connection is so solid and well loved throughout the story. I really enjoyed seeing this serial arc that the author implemented and I am so curious to see the author do more for Calan's family.
Overall I found In Her Highlander's Bed to be a vibrant and sexy historical that delivered in such a solid way. Its packed with plenty of thrills, packs a sensual punch and portrays a powerful romance to fall so easy in love with!
The words sword, scabbard, blood and pain take on a whole new meaning in “In Her Highlander’s Bed”. This is the latest novel in author Lynsay Sands “Highland Brides” series. Calan and Allissaid are the most adorably compatible pair I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading.
In true Sands fashion, the author creates another intriguing tale of life in the Highlands. Complete with the teasing wit and camaraderie her characters are known for. Fans of the Buchanan brothers will be delighted to see a couple of them make an appearance in support of their cousin. You don’t want to miss this one!
My thanks to Avon & Harper Voyager and NetGalley for the ARC. This is my honest review.
Lynsay Sands' Highland Brides series is one of my favorites to read. They can each be read as standalones, but the characters carry over to each other's stories and reading the other ones definitely helps you better understand what is happening. Of this series, I have read 8 of the 11 books, which is actually quite a bit for me to have read in a historical romance series!
This story focuses on Allissaid MacFarlane. Her sister (who was the focus of the previous book) is happily married after an attempted kidnapping/forced marriage. Allissaid and her sisters are told to be careful because the kidnapper may now turn his attentions to one of them so that he can move forward with his plot. Allissaid ends up kidnapped anyways but manages to escape after being beaten badly. She is then found and accidentally knocked unconscious by Calan Campbell, Laird of Kilcairn, who vows to protect her even before he knows who he is protecting her from. The story moves on from there.
It is a very simple and cute love story between the main characters, and we meet some new characters and get to revisit some characters from previous books (and I believe the next book will be about a new character and a previously met one). I really do like the main characters in this series, especially the Buchanans and I look forward to reading more from this series!
Thank you to #NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A fun read that feels very contained and cozy despite how we first find the characters. It has a high-stakes murder plot but it all seems to fade into the background compared to seeing the relationship unfold between the two. We get to see the warmth and love grow between them despite the overhanging threat of the man who seems likely to sweep in at any moment and finish what he started: forcing marriage and planning the demise of an entire family in order to inherit lands and an estate. If you like Scottish or Highland romance you'll enjoy this story!
#InHerHighlandersBed #NetGalley Wonderful romance, with steamy scenes! Excellent quick read! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this novel. I encourage you to check this one out!
In Her Highlander's Bed is an wickedly exhilarating and wonderfully passionate story of discovering and claiming the priceless gift given by Fate. There was nothing conventional about this story, and everything about it is painstakingly beautiful and mesmerizing. The incredible characters will steal your heart, and the amazing sense of tight-knit community will break down all the was around your heart. This story is sure to delight and entertain while it softens your heart and opens your mind to endless possibilities.
Calan had no idea what he would find when he wandered to the loch to take a quick swim one random day. What started out as reclaiming his stolen clothes ended up as something he could never have imagined. It was his kind and generous nature that helped to claim the greatest treasure he would ever find. Allissaid found herself in the worst possible situation of her life, and she had few options let to her. All she could do was fight for her life and that of her family. Thankfully, she stumbled upon Calan who not only took her into his care, but he also nurtured her bruised and battered heart. Can Allissaid hope to save herself and her family from a vicious enemy, or will she lose her heart and her logic to her handsome and seductive savior?
Calan hasn't felt the need to claim and settle down with a woman until Allissaid. Allissaid finds something much more then just refuge in Calan and his family's care. They both eventually recognize in the other what is missing in their lives. Comfort and protection are powerful eye openers to life and what the heart truly longs for. These two are so beautiful apart, but they are unstoppable and incredible together. Nothing will come between them as long as Calan draws breath for he is determined to win her heart and her love.
Lynsay Sands has created an awe-inspiring journey of finding love in the most unlikely of circumstances. When love invades your world, you have no weapons or will to fight back because it uses every dirty trick in the book to capture your heart and your complete attention. You can delay it for a time, but in the end, it will conquer every part of you and prove that it is worth any sacrifice. This was quite the breathtaking experience that I hated to see end, but while it lasted it was something truly unforgettable!
This book surprised me - I don’t typically do the Scottish Highlander books because I struggle with reading and understanding the Scottish brogue. This book started that way, until I got so invested in the story that I didn’t even notice. The brogue any more!
Really enjoyed the storyline, the character development, and I’ll definitely look for a another Lyndsay Sands novel. Excited to have found a new author and embrace my love for the Highlander! Fingers crossed she does a sequel for Inghinn!
