This is book 1 in the Rogue Brotherhood series. It was originally published under a different name, which I didn't know and since I never read it under the previous title-I am not sure whether it has been edited or if it is the same story or not. With that being said, we meet Frankie and Jace. Frankie is the Alpha for her pack. She is determined to capture the rogue that is taking out members of her pack, no matter the cost. But she needs help, even if she doesn't want to admit that. Jace is a mixed blood who has pledged his loyalty to the Rogue Brotherhood. Everyone knows of his hatred towards werewolves, regardless of him being part one. But when his search for a killer brings him to Frankie, he has to decide whether to let his hatred go or lose someone who could be his everything.

I really wanted to love this story just based off the blurb. I am always wanting a woman who can also be the Alpha. But I felt like that just wasn't how Frankie was. Don't get me wrong, she was a likable character. And she is strong. But she seemed more like just a snarky woman than she was Alpha. I didn't really get the dynamic of it, or maybe it just went over my head. Jace was an ok character for me. I didn't really like him as he seemed to equate every single werewolf with the father he hated. And even when he realizes the truth, he still doesn't want to change his thinking. It was like his daddy issues were on steroids. Overall, it wasn't bad. And I think I will read the next book in the series. I just think that I had a hard time with these specific characters and how they come to be. The plot was still good and I enjoyed their chemistry. I just didn't love the characters themselves.

Jace hides what he is as he despised his bully of a father but cannot deny that the pretty little she wolf is clearly something special. Frankie isn't about to ignore a predator killing in her packs territory but has no intention of letting the human hunters take over. When Frankie is attacked by an unexpected enemy Jace shows his true colours but is everything exactly what he expected ?
I've enjoyed this series and this book was no exception well if blunt I wasn't that impressed with the way Frankie was portrayed initially whilst under arrest because frankly she was made to feel anything but an alpha. I did enjoy the twist about Jace and his ancestry but sadly again it felt like something was missing or glossed over. An enjoyable and entertaining read but not my favourite by this author.

I found Rogue Wolf Hunter very hard to read. It wasn’t the subject material as I enjoy spicy paranormal romance with wolf shifters and vampires, but rather the writing seemed disjointed and didn’t flow well. I did read an ARC, so perhaps some of the grammatical errors were fixed in the final copy, but there were times the wrong word was used (know instead of now) and words were completely missing, which made it confusing to read. Having to go back and reread a sentence to decipher its meaning was not enjoyable. The idea of the book sparked my interest, but I think too much story was included and would have been better split into several stories.

Intriguing Shifter/Hunter Romance!

Lots of magic and creatures found in these pages. We have multiple fronts working on finding and stopping a serial killer. Frankie is pack alpha, but is going by a different name to hide her identity. Jace is leading the hunt for Execution Underground; hiding the fact he is half wolf.

Combining efforts is different than risking hearts. Politics, intrigue, supernatural beings, arranged matings and team loyalty all combine into an exciting story!

I have already read this back when it was published years ago, and actually haven't even realized that so much time has passed since then.
But to get back on track, this has been like a reread on crack. Because I strongly believe and experience that a reader can always find new aspects of a book if he/ she picks it up again, that is definitely true here, as quite a few scenes has been modified or added. This only made it more interesting for me, gave a little extra, being curious what has changed and exactly how much. But I won't spoil it here, as it could ruin the fun for some.
What has not changed, is that I like the characters and the MC, even if there are still moments when they make me angry with their stubbornness. But I have to say, the fears and worries can be understood, knowing their backgrounds, and considering for example that the heroine is a packmaster, responsible for many lives besides her own. Ending with a little poem:
Let it be enough to say, prepare your hearts,
As the HEA won't come easy in this case.
But there definitely is passion from the start,
The chemistry is strong between Frankie and Jace.
Also is their relationship with some others,
We can only hope that all of them will be safe,
As this story is full of action and danger,
If you don't want to miss it, pick it up in haste.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley. The thoughts are my own.

This was a wonderful book! I am very taken with Kait Ballenger's stories. This was full of action, steam and the most glorious fight scenes. She and Coreene Callahan can write fight scenes so vivid you can see it play out in your imagination! This is a spin-off series from her Seven Range Shifters series taking place in the East instead of the Montana area. This is such an epic start of a series, I just loved it.

It's about an independent pack in the New York area who has a serial killer on the loose. Jace McCannon and his division of the Execution Underground believe it's a rogue werewolf and they are out to put a stop to his Jack-the-Ripper killings. He encounters Frankie Amato at one of the scenes and immediately arrests her as a suspect.

Frankie Amato is an original. She's the female alpha packmaster of the independent Rochester pack. She's tough and later we find she's the shifter equivalent of a Mafia Queen. She's powerful and has an arranged political marriage to the neighboring White Wolf Pack's Alpha Amarok "Rock" Saila to strengthen her pack. When Jace arrests her, fireworks happen between them and it starts a series of events that lead to many life changing decisions for everyone. Jace and Frankie become a team seeking out the serial killer while having to face their undeniable chemistry. Jace and his division discover they've been betrayed by shifter haters in their Execution Underground organization who want to exterminate all of them and their sympathizers. And Jace's division finds the serial killer is not your ordinary werewolf. Everyone's life and direction is changed.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is an action packed story with werewolves, fae and a couple berserkers. Frankie and Jace are both strong characters who butt heads more often than not and yet realize they are mates. The story has a lot going on which makes for an interesting read. There is a HEA but it does not come easy. This is a story worth reading.

Rogue Wolf Hunter had absolutely no right to keep me up until 2AM last night finishing it. But it did. I was obsessed with Jace and Frankie and how well developed their characters were. I imagine that Kait had a fully fleshed out character sheet for every single person in this book and somehow connected each and every person in a beautiful web of this plot. Every character you met had a purpose in the story and just...I cannot rave about this book enough. Well done. Just well freaking done. I'm hooked and cannot WAIT for the next book!

Somewhere between 2 and 3 stars

The plot of the story grabbed my attention, but the delivery fell far short of my expectations. Shifter romances can be hit or miss, and this one was closer to the miss mark.

Frankie, the heroine, is not only a werewolf, but she's the packleader. Alpha females in shifter romances aren't particularly common, so I was intrigued, but we rarely get to see Frankie act as packleader. In fact, we rarely see her interact with her pack at all. When she is with them, it seems like she's pretending to be fierce more than really feeling it. With Jace, the hero, she's no more than a slightly feisty female.

Jace is okay as the hero, but he's kind of hard to feel close to. He's very bitter about his upbringing at the hands of his shifter father, and he's channeled that hatred into hatred for all wolf shifters. When he and Frankie run into each other a crime scene, he works really hard to continue holding on to the hate. Eventually, he realizes what Frankie means to him, but I never really understood when the shift took place.

And that is perhaps my biggest issue with this book. The plot is very uneven. Is it about corruption in the government agency responsible for hunting down rogue paranormals? Is it a shifter story about a wolf pack? Is it about the strange paranormal being who is murdering and raping--yes in that order--young women in town? Yes and no to all of that. Ultimately, it was pack life that was missing most of all. I don't understand where the pack resides or if they reside together. Frankie has a couple of places in town where she apparently lives, and then there's also this weird paranormal nightclub that she supposedly runs like some kind of mafia boss. When I think about shifters, I think about a species that somehow closer to nature down their human counterparts. But here, they just seem to be some kind of...club? I dunno.

It's possible that the author was throwing a lot out because this is the first in a new series and she wanted to set the stage. Perhaps future novels in this series will flow a little more smoothly. However, I'm not yet sure whether I would pick up the next book.

Also, I don't usually talk about editorial issues in a review when I'm reviewing an ARC, but I really hope this book gets a thorough edit; the mistakes were just too frequent and too distracting to ignore.

I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm leaving this review voluntarily.

This is an intense read and not for the faint of heart. That being said it's A good read with one heck of a twist. Figuring out who and what the killer is really is a shock.

Rogue Wolf Hunter is unremarkable, disjointed lack of focus story telling with graphic detailed of a murder victim.

Jace is a broken hero who isn't much for being nice and Frankie is protector and will do anything to protect her pack. In the end it just feels like "Mortal enemies" who want to spend a lot of sexy time together while hunting down a killer.

I wish I could say I enjoyed Kait Ballenger Rogue wolf Hunter, yet I have to be honest it was a difficult read with the lack of focus and disjointed story.

Thank you to Netgalley for an advance copy of Kait Ballenger Rogue Wolf Hunter.

Jace McCannon works as a hunter and Frankie Amato is a alpha wolf shifter. Jace and Frankie are both tracking a sick individual killing innocent women. Jace and Frankie run into each other at a crime scene and Frankie is taking to headquarters for questions. Jace and Frankie know that if it's a wolf shifter something is wrong with it. Jace has been hiding and denying his legacy; that he is also a shifter. The killer Robert is now targeting Frankie and Jace. I love the new story line for the east coast shifters. Looking forward to reading the next books in this series.

Great read. Couldn’t put it down! Just the right amount of suspense, action and romance. Frankie is packmaster of her pack. While out investigating the brutal murders of female humans she’s captured by one of the greatest hunters known. Jace is searching for the wolf that is brutally raping and killing human women. When he senses w wolf near the latest crime scene he sets out to capture it. Will a case of mistaken identity lead to Frankie’s death or something more!

The brotherhood is amazing. Dark, gritty, a couple twists and turns you don't see coming. There are other creatures in this world. The brotherhood, seems that they might be good guys. I won't spoil the fun for you. Plan your time you won't want to put it down.

Jace is a hunter for the Execution Underground a group that protects humans from paranormal. When he is investigating the murders of women, he meets Frankie. Frankie is the pack master of a pack of wolves and is caught by Jace at the murder scene. Jace takes Frankie back to headquarters and interrogates her. When one of the head honchos shows up and starts questioning her, Jace steps in and they go on the run. Secrets are revealed and together they hope to bring the killer down.

Shifters. Attraction. Action. Great story. Enemies to lovers. I’m hoping the mistakes are fixed before published.

A big thank you to NetGalley and the author for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I am not sure if this is a spin off from another series or not. I think this is the first in a new series. I had an issue with not understanding the world view. I felt in the dark as to understanding the dynamics. The main characters were fine. For me, this was just okay, I could not get invested for some reason. Could just be my mood-who knows. So this is just a 3 for me. I have to say I usually like her books.
