Thank you to NetGalley, Kendra Elliiott, and Montlake for providing this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I was glued to the book from the very beginning. The story started and didn’t stop until the very end. This book is a part of a series, but I was able to easily follow along without having read any of the other books in the series. There was a lot of action and emotion packed into this book that I was not expecting. I loved reading about the island gang and am going to check out the rest!

This review will be posted to my Goodreads and Amazon accounts immediately and to my instagram account (@ginganinja333), and to my newly created bookstagram (@paulas.book.nook) closer to the publication date on 10/18/22.

Bone Deep is the ninth book in the Widow's Island series. Cate Wilde used to be in the FBI but wanted to return home for a simpler life without the constant danger and stress from her job. Finally she is happy with her new life until her fiance who is a doctor is kidnapped at gunpoint to save a criminal who can't go to a hospital for treatment. Will Cate go back to her old way of life before it's too late for her soon-to-be husband? Even if you haven't read the rest of the books in the series you can check this one out. Then go back and catch up!

I enjoy Kendra Elliot’s Widows Island stories and this didn't disappoint. It gets action right from the start and doesn't stop till the end. Keeping you glued to the book. No housework will get done. However, it's a fairly quick read so don't worry. It's a race against time trying to find and save a valuable member of Widows Island. A vast Island with many other island surrounding it so where do they even start to look? Will they be too late. It's a heart racing search. I highly recommend this novella and if you haven't read the previous ones you still can read this but go get the others after you've read this. All can be read stand alone. Thank you NetGalley and Publishers Montlake for this eARC this is my personal opinion.

As always Kendra Elliot does a wonderful job bringing her characters and story to life, even in a shorter format than her other series.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Kendra Elliot’s writing! Thanks to Netgalley for the advance copy!

This is the ninth novella in the Widow's Island series. Dr. Henry is kidnapped by armed men who want to have him heal the third in their group. Cate discovers her fiancé's office manager tied to her chair and her husband-to-be missing.

Naturally she calls her friend Tessa who is a sheriff's deputy and the FBI and the hunt is on. Then Cate finds out she's pregnant and worries that Henry will never know about their child.

As they hunt for clues, Henry is in a shack on an otherwise uninhabited island trying to save a young man who was shot in the gut. He knows it is hopeless but can't convince the leader of the gang that only a hospital will give the injured man a chance.

The story packs a lot of action and emotion into a small number of pages. It is completely readable as a standalone though the rest of the novellas introduce other characters and detail other adventures.

As always Kendra Elliott keeps you guessing throughout the entire suspenseful read. Cate and Henry are a favorite couple and it's heartbreaking Henry is taken.

I always enjoy how this island gang comes together and this time it's Henry who needs them. Tessa and Logan always on hand, Jane steering everything around them to support.

Love this book.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Bone Deep by Kendra Elliot that I read and reviewed.
This was the ninth novella in the Widow’s Island series and this book focused on Cate and Henry and how their relationship has advanced and a little bit of trouble Henry finds himself in when he gets kidnapped and Cate has to come to his rescue. This was another excellent fast paced book in this series that adds on to what happens to our beloved characters and also throws in an interesting mystery to add in a little bit of excitement for the reader as well.
Bone Deep gets five out of five stars and I can’t wait for the next book.

Loved this book. This is a fast paced, quick read with a lot of action, and a sprinkle of romance.
When two masked, armed men enter the clinic, they demand that Henry accompany them to attend their partner who has been shot. When former FBI agent, and Henry's fiancé, Cate, discover he is missing, she will stop at nothing to get him back. It takes effort from her former FBI contacts, as well as the coast guard and sheriffs department. They must work fast because if the gunshot victim dies, so does Henry.
Highly recommend. As always, Kendra Elliot delivers a great story that flows seamlessly from scene to scene.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Former FBI agent Cate Wilde and Dr. Henry Powers are happily planning their wedding in a few months. All is happy until 2 armed men kidnap Henry and take him to a secluded island to save their brother. The men were involved in a bank robbery when the brother was critically wounded from a gunshot. Henry is do all he can to save the man even though it's a losing battle. Meanwhile, Cate and her former FBI colleagues are doing all they can to find Henry before it's too late. This is a short Novella in the Widow's Island series.

I’m not a big fan of novellas, but I am a big fan of both of the authors of this series and I have enjoyed all of the novellas so far and this was another great addition to the series. This series would make a great tv show. Cate’s fiance Henry is kidnapped and taken to a remote island to try to save the life of a man who has been shot. He is told if the patient dies, so will he. Cate, Tessa and FBI agents work together to work out who took Henry, why they are in hiding and where. Cate is obviously upset at the thought of something happening to Henry and his main focus is getting back to her. I love the small town feel of the island and the connection between Cate and her friends. You know they would do anything for each other and by working together they make sure Cate and Henry are reunited.

Kendra Elliot is capping off the 10 novella Widow Island series written in an odd-even manner with Melinda Leigh. While not necessary, I recommend reading them all in order.
In this offering, former FBI agent turned baker/bookstore owner Cate finds herself at the brink of multiple major life changing events as her fiancée, local doctor is spirited away bank robbers to heal their gravely injured brother, injured in a robbery that ended with death at the bank.
I recommend this offering as highly as any in the series. Read them all….

A deep and powerful five-star read. This is the ninth novella in this series, and I am loving the way that Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh have woven the story, each having their characters tell their own stories that flow and fill in. The way this pair tell the story means you can drop in and pick them up, and still know where you are. What surprises you are how many punches are packed into so few pages, along with the passion and drama that simply peel of the page as you turn. Henry was so much deeper in this one, that surprised me, as I have loved getting to know him, but this one we got really deep.

Short but full of intrigue and excitement. Love catching up with the many characters in these books.

I read the first 8 books in the series and have enjoyed them all, some more than others. This was another good installment but seemed rushed to me. I know the series is ending with the next book and ends are being tied up.

The story was predictable and didn't seem suspenseful to me, but it did move the series forward.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC.

Returning to your home town, even if it’s on a remote island, is no guarantee of a quiet, retiring life. Hold on to your seatbelts, girls, we’re in for a bumpy ride! Another delightful fast paced novella from one of my favourite authors. Part of a series, this police procedural with strong female lead characters could be read as a stand-alone novel.. Featuring one of the main characters, Cate and her fiancée Henry, we get moments of introspection on their personal lives, along with the race to solve his kidnapping. Once you read one of these novellas you’ll want the entire series. Thanks NetGalley for a free copy in exchange for my review. Highly recommend

A doctor’s abduction and the search to find him…

This is the ninth book in the Widow’s Island novella series, a series shared by two authors.

When criminals hiding from the authorities need a doctor they don’t tend to go to hospitals and in this case, they found themselves a doctor on Widow’s Island in the Pacific Northwest and just kidnapped him to heal someone they cared about. Dr. Henry Powers doesn’t know if he can help this patient who is worse than he was told but he took an oath to help patients and he will try his best. Will the doctor survive if the patient dies? That is doubtful and he has much to live for. Former FBI agent Cate Wilde and her friends in law enforcement will do everything to find the doctor, her fiancé.

This book is a novella and though tightly written and an enjoyable read there is a lack of character depth which is not found in this author’s full-length books. I would equate this story to a point in time in a larger tapestry that we do not see, which might be found in following the series from the beginning which this reader did not do. Reading the series in order will probably enhance each novella.

An advanced reading copy was obtained from the publisher via NetGalley.

(4.5)In full disclosure I am addicted to Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh. When they teamed up several years ago to write novellas I knew I had died and gone to heaven. That being said not every book is a 5, but its rare they don't hit it for me. This one was way more intense then a couple in the past. It reminded me of the back story for Susannah with the intrigue and depth. It bolts right out of the gate and your running along with Cate (ex FBI) and Tessa (local sheriff) trying to find her fiancee the Sr, Henry. As dead end after dead end the FBI comes on board. I like the surprise that is dropped early on and the surprise at the end. A wonderful entertaining read. Thank you for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #BoneDeep #kendraelliot #Montlakepublishing

This is a novella, making it a quick and satisfying read.

Henry is a doctor that is taken by 2 armed men who want him to treat their injured friend.

Cate, his fiancée, is retired FBI. As soon as she discovers him missing, she and the authorities begin the search.

Henry's captors will fatally harm him if he can't save the man. He now races against the clock. Will he be able to survive until help arrives?
