Sarah can't wait for Christmas even though her daughter Ellie is being a bit secretive. Sarah can't believe it when her first crush Luke returns after being away in America for years. Love it
This was a hard to put down novel which was a pleasure to read. Nice and seasonal but the cottage was the centre point of this book. Curl up and enjoy. 5 stars
Thanks to Netgaley and publisher for this ARC
If you are looking for a light holiday romance, much like a hallmark Christmas movie, then this will be perfect for you. It was predictable and corny, but that isn’t a complaint!
Christmas at red robin cottage is a really love, romantic, Christmas read. It is uplifting and heartwarming and joyful.
Lovely feel good book to read. It was a joy to read. Lovely characters. Great plot. The book was charming. Very well written. I’d definitely recommend this book. Idyllic location that set the tone of the book to perfection. Perfect seasonal book to get you in the mood for the festive season.
So beyond excited and honored to acquire this title. Bookouture novels never disappoint as does one of their lovely authors Sue Roberts. Her books are always like a warm hug. This is a perfect read to cozy up and help get into the upcoming holiday mindset, I though Sarah was a great character and I love her selflessness as a mother to bring joy to her daughter and help her make the best of the Christmas season without her father. I also love s book that reconnects someone with their first love or childhood sweetheart. The person that makes your heart always skip a beat when you think of them whether you are with them or not, Luke is Sarah’s someone. Without giving to much away Luke is perfectly charming and as special as she remembers sec even helps her get out of a jam at a work event. I was so curious to find out if things panned put for them especially after her daughter reveals a huge secret that puts everything it to a tailspin. I was pleasantly surprised and closed the book with a huge smile on my face. The cover was beautiful, the writing was crisp and descriptive as always, and it is another home run for Sue. She should be immensely proud of this beautiful book and I’ll anxiously be awaiting her next.
A really enjoyable and cozy story about multiple generations and their love and lives. Good characters and a fun story with a cozy fire and some cocoa.
Christmas is coming and I'm getting in the mood. Loving all the Christmas books coming up and this is now different.
A charming story of family, Christmas cheer and a lovely setting this book drew me in with it's charm and readability. It was a book that I found easy to read and got me on the Christmas spirit (even though it is only September!).
The characters, mother and daughter, Sarah and Ellie, are relatable and true to life, dealing with all the problems life throws at you. This is what I liked about it as well as the charming cottage and village setting. I could imagine being there.
A lovely, easy and entertaining Christmas read.
Since her marriage went up in flames like a Christmas pudding, there’s nothing Sarah Dunne wants more than a peaceful festive season filled with carols and mince pies. But Sarah’s teenage daughter Ellie is feeling the winter blues, faced with spending the holiday without her father.
Desperate to bring home some seasonal cheer and make this a Christmas to remember for Ellie, Sarah follows the trail of fairy lights into the snow-covered village. Among the holiday crowds she finds herself gazing into the soft brown eyes of a handsome stranger whose smile is startlingly familiar. It couldn’t really be her childhood sweetheart, Luke, could it?
Even though he moved half a world away nineteen years ago, as they bond over hot chocolate and tales of traumatic break-ups it’s clear time hasn’t changed Luke’s effortless charm. And when he saves Sarah from a wardrobe malfunction at a Christmas party, it’s not just the mulled wine warming her heart. But she can’t let herself fall in love again. Especially as Luke isn’t here to stay…
Then Ellie reveals she’s been keeping a BIG secret about Sarah’s ex. Reeling, Sarah longs to turn to Luke for comfort. But will that put her already fragile relationship with her daughter at risk, and chase Luke away even faster? Or will opening her heart mean Sarah gets her wish for a magical Christmas after all?
Really enjoyable read totally recommend
Thank You NetGalley and Bookouture
I just reviewed Christmas at Red Robin Cottage by Sue Roberts. #ChristmasatRedRobinCottage #NetGalley
This was a nice Pre Christmas read for me. I loved the setting! The village and area was so relaxing. I loved the cottage. But the cottage was not the main part of the story. Sarah , who is divorced, meets up with a past crush. Her ex and daughter make it hard for them to connect. Misunderstanding s abound!
What a delightful Christmas book this was! It told us the story of Sarah, a single parent who lives with her teenage daughter Ellie. It’s just before Christmas, Sarah’s work at the local cinema is slow and her daughter Ellie isn’t looking forward to Christmas without her dad being at home. When Sarah she sees a face from the past, could it really be her teenage crush who left for America many years before?
This book was such an easy-to-read story! The plot was super festive, and the storyline flowed along nicely following Sarah’s life on the run up to Christmas. Sarah was a lovely character, but I did feel sorry for her at times. She seemed to be constantly on the go, either at work or sorting out the problems that having a teenage daughter brings along! The storyline was fairly predictable with Sarah meeting her teenage crush after all those years, but it was still fun following her journey! There are a few supporting characters that feature throughout the book, but not too many where you forget who is who! Sarah’s friends are a fun and friendly bunch, and I especially liked Shelley who worked at the cinema with her!
The location was great and, based in Liverpool, I was able to recognise some of the places mentioned. The Christmas theme certainly sparkled, and it made me feel very festive as I read! I never would have thought I’d be thinking of a Christmas dinner at the end of August, but the author’s writing made me feel like I was right there just before Christmas like Sarah was! The book was a warm, friendly and light-hearted read which would be absolutely perfect for snuggling under a blanket with a Christmas hot chocolate! Would definitely recommend!
A brilliant light fun read . Perfect. Loved it. A story of a divorced mum with a teenage daughter, ace friends and who lives in lovely village near Liverpool. Made you want to visit Liverpool so much. A lovely Christmas read. Ace ending and a love element thrown in.
A perfect, sweet book to get you in the mood for Christmas! Perfect read for a snowy afternoon, snuggled in a comfy chair, sipping a hot chocolate (preferably topped with squirt cream! ). Delightful.
This is a great escapist Christmas read however it wasn’t for my personal taste.
I personally found the writing too slow and overly descriptive which I found took away from the flow of the book. I also didn’t bond well with Sarah the main character who I felt acted like someone a lot older than she was and had a quite melancholy personality.
I did however enjoy the ending.
Sue Robert's parliament novel immerse us into the mother daughter relationship of Sarah and Elly who is 16years old. They live in a small village near Liverpool which Robert's describes as 'the prettiest village in the North of England.
Throughout this novel we are introduced to many characters, Robbie is Ellys father, all of Sarah's friends and her colleagues at the old fashioned cinema where she works, its description is that i 'days gone by experience', so might actually close if numbers don't pick up. Three all weave their easy into the tale and move this romance along. This is the main reason you read this genre of books, in this book its Sarah first crush Luke returning into her life.
Overall his novel is entertaining and very cheesy Christmas themed, with lots of references to festive food and drinks and Christmas shopping and market. So if you want a December read here it is!
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publishers as I recieved a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Captured my heart… so immersed in the story it was hard to put it down very good reccommend to anyone who loves a good book!
I was drawn to the cozy cover initially…… This book was such a pleasure to read, such a beautifully written, atmospheric book , everything about this book is just so perfect and beautiful, the writing, the characters, the world building and the story. I was so ecstatic at how good a read this was and it completely blew me away. Thoroughly, highly and wholeheartedly recommend this to everyone and can’t wait for more…,..grab yourself a copy of this cozy festive read!
The cover of this book is so beautiful and absolutely drew me in and made me want to read it. The book is a quick, light hearted holiday read that oozes holiday atmosphere.
Sarah lives in a small village where she has a loving relationship with her daughter, several great friendships, and a job she enjoys. She is divorced and begins thinking about a past crush, who then shows up in the village just in time for the holidays.
The descriptions of the town’s festive decorations made me ready to put up my own decor! Reading about the small town feel of the various shops and pubs made me want to visit and see the town in person, and maybe try a hot pot. I annoyed Sarah’s relationship with her daughter and her friends as well, she is a very likable character who you are rooting for to be happy. It is a clean romance suitable for any age.
This was a nice holiday story that will definitely put you in the holiday spirit!
A cute and cozy read about a woman who has a few regrets from her past and has a chance to do-over. There is a wide array of supporting characters, but my favorite character was the setting!
I absolutely love this authors books and have read most of her summer Greek reads but this was the first Christmas one of hers and I certainly want disappointed. As soon as I picked this up I was totally engrossed and invested in the characters the cover was enticing and immediately made me want to dive in.
This book was like being wrapped in a Christmas hug and was a perfect escapism read and was such a lovely story told in a beautiful setting red Robin cottage sounds like an amazing place to live and all of the Christmas sights and tastes described throughout made this read feel like a festive delight to the senses. This author has a real knack of drawing you in and making you feel as though you are within the pages of the book.
There was definitely an uplifting festive sparkle throughout and a lovely feel good read. and would love this to become a series to find out more of the inhabitants of this beautiful village.
