I'm a little behind with some of my books and literally started this earlier and couldn't put it down.

Yet again Smith comes up trumps with a highly engaging, twisty read full of suspense, that will keep you guessing till the very last page. Did I mention it also comes with a jaw dropper of an ending!

All of the characters are well developed, flawed and credible, the plot well written, clever and pacy with revalations aplenty.

The Family Home is an intense thriller drama that I would highly recommend.

Many thanks to Bookouture for my tour spot.

This is a totally unputdownable thriller!

Even Lillian and Matthew has divorced, but they still shared a family house. They are having a secret...Indeed they both have moved on already. Matthew is dating with Rebecca who is the teacher at their young daughter Mabel's school and Lillian is spending some time on the dating app.

Both of them still keep in touch because of Mabel. Lillian celebrated with Mabel's 6 year-old birthday and she got a few drinks. The next day she woke up and found a dead body on her bed...they guy looks so familiar. He is the guy she dated before.

How could this be happened? Someone was trying to frame her?

The twists along and the darkness are utterly gripping. If you like reading thriller about betrayal. secrets, lies, family...I will highly recommend this to you all!

This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and after I’d finished reading it there was no doubt in my mind that I needed to read more books by Miranda Smith. The Family Home is a completely gripping psychological thriller that I found hard or put down. Right from the very start I was hooked and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out who the guilty person was. Often in a thriller I have it sussed out quite early on who the culprit is but with this one I honestly had no clue until the reveal. That is something I love in a thriller book not being able to work out who the is responsible . This is a really good read and one I recommend to fans of psychological thrillers.

I'm a huge fan of Miranda Smith's books. This one is another great edge of your seat thriller that will keep you turning the pages. I actually haven't read a book this fast in quite a while. It was that good.

Lillian and Matthew had the perfect life. The golden couple. They worked very hard and made it to the top. They went through a lot to finally have this life and to have the child they both wanted so desperately. They live in a beautiful home in a very upscale neighborhood and are the envy of their friends. Then things fall apart. Something happened that neither can seem to move past. Especially Lillian. She's there for Matthew just as he is her. But she can't move past what happened. Then they become the golden divorced couple. They are the best of friends. Trust each other completely and are there for their daughter no matter what. Until something happens to make them wonder if they can truly trust each other.

Lillian and Rebecca go out after Lillian's daughters birthday party. They get pretty plastered. Then Lillian wakes up on her own couch and can't seem to remember much. What she does know is that she needs to be in her bed. But when she turns on her bedroom light her life changes. Can she ever find her way back to a normal life again? Will things ever be the same? Who is this man in her bed? Dead! Murdered? Who could have done this? No one else has a key to her apartment except Matthew. Would he do such a thing and if so why?

There are a few suspects in this book. I did not completely figure out who did it or why. I did have my suspicions though. High on my list. But I was in shock as to why and even in a way as to who. Why would this person do such a thing. So many had a reason it seems. But who could have known Lillian and Matthew's big secret and use it against Lillian in such a way. Why would they. As the suspects start adding up your mind goes to work on the why of it all. This is such a good suspense/thriller/mystery you won't be able to put it down until you know.

Will Lillian and Matthew ever be able to trust each other again? Will they have the same kind of relationship once this is all over? Maybe they can. Or maybe one will not. Grab this book to find out. It's so good. It's one of the best thrillers I've read this year.

Thank you #NetGalley, #MirandaSmith, #Bookouture for this ARC. This is my own true thoughts about this book.

5 huge stars and a very high recommendation.

As part of a book blogtour I can't post the link to my blog or Instagram until tomorrow...

The Family Home is Miranda Smith’s best book to date. A quick and suspenseful read that will keep you up all night.

We open to a woman waking up groggily and when she comes to, she finds she isn’t alone in in the house.. but it’s not for a good reason!

What happened and how can she get out of this mess? WHO did this?! She can trust her ex, can’t she?

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review.

What would you do if you woke up and you had a dead man in your bed? Okay, first I'd scream 😆😆 Second, I'd wonder how he got there. 🤷🏻‍♀️ priorities Y'all.

Anyway, my first question was what happened to her that she couldn't remember? I thought amnesia and I needed to know what happened asap. My next question was why is she calling her ex-husband to help her before she called 911? As a dispatcher that blew my mind but as the story continued I could understand why she called her ex first. As the story unfolded I was still kinda speechless over the closeness of their relationship.

That oddity aside, I enjoyed this book. It was a super easy read. Nothing in depth that I had to really focus on which I really appreciate after my last read. I'm sure it could have been longer and more details added. I'm personally glad it wasn't that way. There twists & turns that kept me reading so I could find out how it ended.

The Family Home was my long weekend read and it did not disappoint.

We have a dual pov from the husband and the wife. I always enjoy seeing stories from both sides, giving a more complex reading experience. I found myself twice as intrigued with the before and after / dual crime story line. I was left questioning whodunnit until the 11th hour and definitely did not see the twist coming. With a full neighbourhood of characters from a small town community who liked to gossip, it led to a lot of who can you trust, adding to my intrigue until the end. It gave the story a more lifelike feel and made the reasons why behind the crime more plausible.

I stayed up late to finish this one and immediately had to jot down my notes for my review. I'm keen to read more by this author now.

Lilian and Matthew are divorced but co-parenting their young daughter Mabel. They have kept the family home where Mabel lives and work between their house and an apartment, swapping over so one parent is always with their daughter.
At Mabel’s sixth birthday party, Lilian over-indulges and returning to the apartment, crashes out on the couch. Waking later she heads for her bed, only to discover there’s a dead body lying in it covered in blood.
Written from Lilian and Matthew’s viewpoints, this is a story which twists and turns, fooling you into thinking you know what’s going to happen, only to discover there's yet another surprise you didn’t expect. A gripping and compulsive read.

I would like to thank Bookouture, Miranda Smith and Netgalley for an ARC of The Family Home in exchange for an honest review.

The Family Home by Miranda Smith is a successful psych thriller that kept me guessing almost to the very end.
There are actually several things to recommend about this one.
First, the chapters are short. This serves more than one purpose. One, it is easy to grab a few chapters here and there and not get lost in between. Everything is short and sweet.
Two, this also serves to keep the action moving along at a good pace. At no point did I feel like the plot dragged – it was just a nice steady stream of events that flowed into each other.
I also liked that the author changed up whose perspective the reader got information from in the chapters. Most of the story is Lillian’s, but there are a few well-placed chapters from Matthew’s point of view.
Those are just enough for the reader to wonder which one of them is reliable – or if neither or both of them are.
That’s another thing that works well in this book. The author drops just enough hints and clues that it should be easy to figure things out. But it’s not.
As in any good psych thriller, the reader is left trying to take in all of the information but wondering if the author is pulling one over on them. As Lillian does or doesn’t trust people, the reader has the same questions.
There are a few moments that don’t exactly ring true. The setting confused me. At one point Lillian is looking out over the Pacific Ocean. But then there is a reference to Florida being “10 hours away.”
This is vague enough that makes me wonder where the action is taking place. Australia is a 19-hour flight and California is roughly five hours. Hawaii and Alaska are about 10 hours, so maybe? Maybe I missed that somewhere along the way.
Additionally, towards the end, it is mentioned that Matthew heads “down south” to Florida. What? Honestly, it’s not that hard to be geographically accurate these days.
There are also a couple of minor moves by the characters, mostly Lillian, that make no sense. But these are definitely minor in the bigger scheme of things.
The last 25% of the book picks up a lot of speed – the author cleverly builds the tension to this point and then lets everything break loose. And just when you think you have things figured out with the characters, you probably don’t.
It’s been difficult for me to concentrate on books the past month – The Family Home grabbed me and kept me interested from beginning to end. So, kudos to Miranda Smith for writing a gripping psych thriller.

First, I want to thank Miranda Smith, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

O.M.G! If you have not read any of Miranda Smith’s psychological thrillers what have you been waiting for?! Her latest The Family Home is my FAVORITE that I have ever read from her! Instantly Miranda grabs a hold of your attention in this insanely fast paced, wickedly twisted, insanely intense and with her jaw dropping revelations this is a 5 star must read book!! It is one you must add to the top of your TBR list!

My first thought while reading this prologue is that both the main character and I are going through the same aches and pains today. I could not help but give a little chuckle. However, as the prologue went on I too would be flipping out at what Lilian just saw!

One aspect of the book that I really respected was how close ex husband Matthew was to his ex wife Lillian. How they remained good friends for their adorable daughter Mabel. This is a rare finding this day in age to read in books (at least the ones I read). I do admit at times I wondered if they would get back together though.

Like Lilian I too wanted to know who Carl was! Why was he in her apartment? How did he get there?! Why did he use a fake name?!

As the story progressed there was so much drama, secrets, twists and wicked turns kept coming in full force. Many revelations were just mind blowing and jaw dropping. That ending I didn’t see coming! Infact, I thought I knew who as causing all of it but I was so off base!

The Family Home had me guessing from the very beginning with a few red herrings along the way.
A dead body is found in Lillian’s bed but how did it get there? Lillian is the prime suspect but she insists she has not done it. Can she clear her name?
This was told from Lillian and Matthew’s points of view. As we get into the book, we learn there are a lot of secrets being kept between them, even though their divorce was amicable and they share the apartment and their home to keep their daughter from suffering the upheaval.

The book was written perfectly, the pace was just right with lots of twists making you want to read the whole book in one go.

The reveal had me completely shocked.

I really enjoyed The Family Home and would recommend it to my friends who enjoy a good psychological thriller.

THANKS TO NETGALLEY AND THE PUBLISHER FOR THIS REVIEW COPY IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.

Lillian and Mathew are co-parenting their daughter Mabel and for the sake of her, their living style seems weird to most people as even after divorce they share an apartment. The reason for their divorce is something secret which is also the reason they both are more than friendly with one another. Everything is working smoothly, Mathew is dating, and Lillian is trying her luck on dating apps. One day she found the dead body of the person whom she dated twice and she can't let the police know this. All pieces of evidence are pointing in her direction. Now is the test of Mathew and her's relationship.

I liked the way this book was started, and I was looking forward to turning this book into a good one. But unfortunately somewhere in half, it started to go down. I didn't guess the ending but the way story was dealt with was kinda dull and one-dimensional. The title was misleading and that is a red flag for me when the title or description is so misleading, I personally feel betrayed when this happens. On the positive side, it was easy to read and things were not dragged so it was a relief.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the e-ARC. I have been on a thriller vibe and this did not disappoint. I could totally get behind the whole co-parenting vibe because life and to be totally honest I love how at some points the MC's did not trust each other because again life. I liked the 2 POV from the two main MC. Overall I really enjoyed this book and was even glad with the ending.

An honest review of The Family Home by Miranda Smith. I give this one two and a half stars rounded up to three just due to liking it better the longer I read.
I started this one with high expectations, it had all the makings of a great psychological thriller but somehow it fell completely flat for me.
Lillian and Matthew, a formerly married couple, who divorced after a tragedy following a party at their home, are now co-parenting their daughter Mabel. They share an apartment, each having their own bedroom, while Mabel stays at the ‘Family Home’ and they take turns staying with her there, alternating their time with her.
After leaving a birthday party for Mabel at the family home, Lillian returns to the apartment and finds something shocking waiting for her in her bed.
First of all, I thought the story started out a little slow. I had trouble getting in to it and it wasn’t one of those books I was just dying to get back to. I also felt the plot has been done before, and I had trouble connecting with any of the characters. I get frustrated with characters who keep making the worst possible choices and I felt like that kept happening here!
Although I didn’t see the twist at the end coming, I was not sure I really cared.
This is not a bad book, in fact, I actually think I liked it better the more I read. If you like thrillers with lots of twists and turns or reading about crazy, complicated family/married life, this might be the book for you.
I want to thank #Netgalley #Bookouture and Miranda Smith for providing me with eARC. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This book was really fun, and I had a hard time figuring out who the villain was. The story centers on Lillian, who wakes up after a night of drinking (which was rare for her) to find the dead body of a stranger in her bed. Turns out that Lillian and her ex-husband Matthew have a secret that tore apart their marriage; does this have to do with that or other secrets that Lillian is keeping?

I thought this was a good mystery where there were multiple characters who seemed suspicious. I felt like the decisions that both Lillian and Matthew made seemed reasonable (for the most part) under the circumstances. When the villain was unveiled it was a surprise to me (which I normally hate, as that means the author didn’t leave the right bread crumbs) but I realized it made complete sense and there were some clues laid that led up to it.

My one major nit is that the characters lived in a made-up city named Anne Isle and I could not for the life of me figure out where it was supposed to be. There was talk about a move to FL, an 8 hour drive to FL, and the Pacific Ocean, and I just couldn’t make sense of it. I actually spent some time researching where this was based on the clues given and could not come up with any location that made sense. I tend to get caught up on details such as these and I feel that they detract from the storyline when they don’t make sense.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and thought the mystery was sound. I’d recommend it, especially for those who don’t go down rabbit holes about details that don’t seem to match up ;) Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Family Home by Miranda Smith is a highly recommended psychological thriller.

Lillian and Mathew are divorced and have an amicable relationship. For the sake of their daughter Mabel, and their finances, they share the family home. This means that Mabel stays in the house, while Lillian and Matthew take turns between staying at the house or in an apartment that they also share. It's an unconventional agreement that works for them. They trust each other, especially after the secret they share.

After celebrating Mabel's birthday, which is also Lillian's birthday, Lillian heads home to the apartment when she is asked out for a drink by a mutual friend. When Lillian finally makes it back to the apartment, she falls asleep on the sofa. When she wakes up later, she heads to her bedroom only to discover a dead body in her bed. First she calls Matthew, and then she calls the police. Lillian is immediately a suspect.

The characters are not memorable as they are standard caricatures, types of people, put into place to propel the plot forward. This doesn't really matter as the plot is the focus and purpose of the novel. Admittedly, the first part of the novel was stronger than the resolution, but the plot holds together and includes plenty of secrets. The dual timeline following the present day and a year ago works well with the plot as does the alternating point-of-view in the narrative. This is a fast paced psychological thriller that will immediately grab your attention and hold it right to the ending.

4.5⭐ rounded up.

Featuring ~ dual 1st person POV, before and now timeline, amicable divorced co~parents, secrets, crime

The prologue grabbed me right away. A secret that drove a wedge in Matthew and Lillian's marriage haunts their present when a man is found dead in Lillian's bed.

Lillian and Matthew are the most amicably divorced couple in Anne Isle. Their 6 year old daughter, Mable, stays in the family home while Lillian and Matthew switch back and forth between staying there with her and in their shared apartment. They are in a groove and have always trusted each other, but when the investigation into the dead man begins they both start to question what they really know about each other.

Dual POV was the perfect way to tell this gripping story. There were so many different scenarios floating around in my head that I thought I was on a tilt-a-whirl at the county fair. I'm pleased to say I did not see the who in the whodunit coming ~ whoop whoop! It was thrilling and suspenseful with a dash of an easy on the eyes detective.

I am so happy about the last text that Lillian received in the epilogue because I was hoping it would turn out that way!!

Miranda is quickly becoming one of my favorite twisty suspenseful authors.

Gripping thriller! His book had me on the edge of my seat!

Lillian and Matthew are a modern day divorced couple who are navigating co parenting. Rather than give up their family home, their daughter Mabel stays in the home while Lillian and Matthew take turns staying in the home. While one parent is there, the other stays in an apt during their non custodial time.

One night Lillian wakes up on her couch, goes into her bedroom and finds a man has been murdered in her bed. She realizes she can’t recall the night. She had a few drinks and fell asleep. How did this man get here? Did she murder him and doesn’t remember? The deeper she looks, the more questions there are. I don’t want to spoil this book. Trust me, it’s worth reading!

Lillian and Matthew have an amicable divorce due to their young daughter Mabel. There is another reason for their quiet agreement to remain close. It involves a secret that if revealed could cost them everything. They share an apartment and a beautiful family home. However, they are never in the same residence at the same time. Taking turns in each residence in order to continue to provide Mabel a stable home.

One night Lillian has a few drinks with Matthew's girlfriend. She arrives home a bit worse for wear and falls asleep on the couch. When she awakens and approaches her bedroom, she is shocked to discover a dead body on her bed, covered in blood. In a panic, the first call she places is to Matthew. He tells her to hang up and to ring the police.

As the police investigate they are confused as to how close Lillian and Matthew seem, and this is at every turn. Meanwhile, Lillian pursues her own investigation. She knows more than she has shared with the police, and if she does not get to the bottom of as to why the man was killed in her apartment, she and Matthew could lose everything.

What a thrilling, fast-paced story! I could not put this book down! While this multi-layered story began to unfold and as things slowly fell into place, I felt like I was reaching the end of a very enjoyable jigsaw puzzle. However, things just might not wrap up just as nicely for Lillian and Matthew. So, grab this book, shut your phone off, and plan on reading late into the night, because The Family Home is certain to keep you riveted.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
