This was quite a complex tale with lots of layers. It was sometimes in the present day and sometimes in the past, and there was a lot going on. I had to concentrate to keep the story straight in my mind. It was a good, well thought out story, and a good read.

Absolutely riveting: from page one it grabbed me and never let go.
From the moment Nelle's mother answers a phone ringing in her glove compartment, and hears her daughter telling her "Mom, they took me", the suspense just continues to build and build and never lets up. With an imposed time deadline to reach her daughter, put on her by the kidnappers, the story is told through past and present, as she drives to reach her daughter and encounters life and death obstacles along the way. . While I am usually not a big fan of " look back" segments in stories, these worked beautifully. The transitions were seamless and totally compelling.
Characters were defined well and plot was exceptionally well developed.
If you like non stop suspense, easy reading with shorter chapters and very, very intriguing storyline, this is the book for you.

“Mom, they took me. You have to do what they tell you. I’m so scared.”

Wow, just wow!

I was blown away by this novel. So much, in fact, that I don't know how I'm going to be able to review it without spoiling it for anyone! Don't walk, RUN to get your copy of We Have Your Daughter!!

The novel is very visual and involves a road trip form hell. Laura has a limited time to drive a location if she wants to find her daughter Nelle alive. All whilst trying to figure out why the kidnapper believes she is a woman named Betty who killed his mother years ago.

This was such an excellent read, I can see it becoming a Netflix series... fingers crossed!!

We Have You Daughter is an in-up-downable thriller. I was hooked right from the start and stayed hooked the entire time. I did not want to put this one down!

Laura’s daughter Nelle has been kidnapped and she must get to her to save her. She can’t tell anyone, especially her police detective husband. As she drives the 3 hrs with the kidnapper on FaceTime to get where her daughter is, Laura is put to the test. When the kidnapper calls her Betty, Laura is transported back to the past she has fought so hard to delete and forget. As she gets closer she realizes she isn’t going to make it in time. Will she be able to save Nelle in time?

What a whirlwind. You have Laura trying to save her daughter but she’s also an alcoholic and that doesn’t help. Then this whole Betty business and what she did or didn’t do in a past life. Aaaah so good. This one is out October 5th so make sure to get your pre order or hikes in soon! Special thanks to @netgalley and the publisher for my gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. I gave this one a solid 4 stars!

This was a quick read for me meaning I had to finish it in a few hours. Thoroughly readable and enjoyable story if the lengths a woman will go for her child. I couldn’t predict where the story was going so it held my attention all the way to the end.

Laura finds herself in a battle against time to get to her teenage daughter after she receives a phone call informing her that her daughter has been taken by a man intent on revenge.
A fast paced thriller with plenty of action.

WE HAVE YOUR DAUGHTER grips the reader from page one and never lets up. Laura Anderson is driving home from a volunteer event when she hears a phone ring. Someone has kidnapped her daughter Nelle and if she doesn’t do exactly as they say, she will kill them. The caller believes she is really Betty Hamms, a nurse who killed a patient in Texas twenty years earlier due to a medical mistake, then fled the state, and they want to make her pay. The tension and stakes were well done as the kidnapper forces Laura to complete one action after another or else listen to the torture of her daughter. Anything you might ask yourself “would I be willing to do this?” is played out on page. But where the story really gets interesting is in the past connection between the kidnapper and Laura. There are twists on top of twists as the book reveals more about the backstory, both what happened in the hospital, and what happened even before that as part of Laura’s backstory and how everything ties in. It’s well written and I was on the edge of my seat not knowing who to trust. An excellent thriller. 5/5 stars.

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary ARC copy of this book from Bookouture and NetGalley for review purposes.

*4.5 stars*

When Laura answers a call from an unknown number, her worst nightmares are about to be realised.

Her daughter Nelle has been kidnapped, and her abductor mentions a name to Laura that brings back a whole host of memories - memories from the past that she would rather forget.

And so begins the road trip from hell, to an address given by the abductor, who tells Laura that she only has a certain amount of time to reach the address in a tiny lake town upstate to save Nelle’s life. If she’s late Nelle dies!

Secrets are slowly revealed about Laura’s former life, and she’s not really the good and charitable person she likes to portray.

Gosh this is a fast paced thriller, with lots of menace and nail biting moments throughout, and throw in a couple of twists I never saw coming, and it was without question, most enjoyable!

We Have Your Daughter by Matthew Farrell is a novel which hooks the reader right from the first page. We are led to believe that the kidnapped daughter is a case of mistaken identity and is about the mother’s attempt to get her daughter back. This is a well written and exciting thriller with many twists and turns to keep the reader constantly turning pages. The reader will have a great deal of empathy and sympathy for the mother who turns out to be a very resourceful individual. The book is replete with many instances of lies and secrets and with great details of brutality and murder.
I thank NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book prior to its publication.

“We Have Your Daughter” is a thriller by Matthew Farrell. I’ve been reading a number of thrillers lately and really wasn’t expecting a lot from this book. Well, this book grabbed my attention and held it through all 300 plus pages. I liked the drama build-up and the suspense. At times I kept wondering “what new twist” will come and, yes, they kept coming. Even when I thought I knew what was going to happen next, I was surprised. I though the flashbacks were well written and added to the story. I also felt Laura’s husband’s pain at the end and I’m pleased the book ended where it did. Overall, strong writing and a pretty crazy ride. I look forward to reading another book by Mr. Farrell.

One of the best books I've read this year.... by a mile!! This is one of those books that you just need to sit for a minute after you've finished it and all you can think is..... omg! This is everything that other thrillers aspire to be. There are so many twists and turns that you absolutely do not see coming. My jaw was on the floor more than once! If you want captivating, original, shocking, fast paced, suspenseful, tension filled, jaw dropping and sheer escapism.... this is the one for you. Its just such an amazing read that you won't be able to put it down

We Have You Daughter, by Matthew Farrell

How would you react if you received a phone call informing you that your daughter had been kidnapped? There are specific instructions you need to follow. If you contact the police or tell anyone, your daughter will be killed. You hear the kidnappers inflicting pain on your child in the background. Would you involve the police or follow the instructions?

We Have Your Daughter is a very gripping novel. It is filled with suspense and heart-pounding situations. The novel outlines every parent's deepest nightmare in shocking details. I read the book in one night because I couldn't put it down. I was a tiny bit disappointed that the ending wasn't more detailed, but I hope this means a sequel is on it's way.

We Have Your Daughter by Matthew Farrell is available on October 5th.

Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture, for sharing this intriguing book with me. This is my first book by Matthew Farrell. I look forward to reading more of his fascinating writing in the future!

This was a whopping psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge and quite unputdownable!

The story starts with Laura getting a phone call from a person saying that he had abducted her daughter Nelle. But soon, the person also accuses that Laura was indeed named Betty Hamms who apparently killed the person's mother Sofia. In fact, back in 1993, Sofia accidentally killed Betty's brother Donny as a hit and run accident. The person gives Laura the address and Laura drives through the interstate, willing to risk her own life to save her daughter's.

I have to say, the story started out really good. It was quite a page turner, with twists and turns, dividing between the present day and the past when Betty Hamms was in Texas working as a nurse. I was literally absorbed into the story that I actually couldn't put the book down, wanting to know what is going to happen in the end as it was highly unpredictable, which is a plus sign for a thriller book. I really did enjoy reading this book and felt more like I was watching an action packed movie that would keep me on the edge--and that's how I felt. I must say, There were nail biting moments in the story that as a reader you feel you are on the edge and I have to say, there were menacing characters in the story as well.

Overall, if you are looking a fast paced thriller that is unputdownable and will keep you on the edge, I highly recommend this book--worth five stars!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

When “Laura Anderson “gets a call on a phone she found in her glove compartment she is confronted with any mother‘s worst nightmare. Her daughter Nell has been taken and she must keep the phone charged and on because if the call drops they’re going to kill her daughter. Under pressure and with severe alcohol and drug problem she pops Xanax and continually debate whether or not to stop and buy alcohol because just a little treat will help her think right? At one of her first stop signs she hear something roll in her trunk and is soon suspicious and when The strange voice that’s instructing her from the phone tells her to check the trunk she immediately doesn’t want to… After she gets up the courage she opens it only to find what looks like a dead body wrapped in plastic. This is just one of many terrible things the voice will make her do in the whole time insisting her name is Betty Ames and that she killed his mother. Through a series of flashbacks and remembrances the truth comes out but in the end she will not be the only one not willing to go through with it. Can she conquer her demons and save her daughter or will her alcoholism and these monsters be the end for both of them? I have read a lot of thriller books and I have to say this plot was so original I mean imagine your daughter‘s life depending on whether or not you keep the phone on and you drive through a dead zone and the call drops… Truly heart pounding moments in this book and at times it seems getting out of it is going to be impossible I truly enjoyed the book and thought it was awesome! A real thriller an original plot action packed and even the flashbacks were amazing. I received the book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture. for the ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
WOW. Another spectacular book from Matthew Farrell. He has quickly moved up my list of must-read authors. In fact, I knew nothing about this book when I requested it through NetGalley; I knew I would enjoy it. This was an edge of your seat thriller, a very quick read due to the short chapters and constant action. And just when you think everything's a little too neatly tied up at the very end, BAM there's another surprise. You really feel for the main character, Laura, who, in another writer's hands, might have turned into someone else entirely with no empathy from the reader. I loved the back-and-forth chapters between characters and especially liked Detective Estrada and how he pulled clues together.
First time reading this author? Do yourself a favor and read his backlist. You won't regret it. Highly recommend.
