This is the third in the Sunshine Corner series and I’ve read and liked the previous two. The series focuses on a family and friends in the small town of Heart’s Hope Bay on the Oregon coast. This can be read as a stand alone but I would read in order to avoid surprises. All the previous couples make appearances and the current MC’s are siblings of previous main characters.
Rebecca Hayes is raising her four year old daughter on her own and enjoys her stable career at job at a credit union. She hasn’t dated since having her daughter and thinks it is time to dust off her lady parts. Besides her girlfriends her best friend is Jackson Lowe. They’ve known each other their whole lives. He’s 31, a free spirit who works for his fathers landscape business and lives to surf and play. Jackson takes Becca to a wedding out of town and one night together turns into a pregnancy. (Disclosed on blurb not a spoiler.)
He is all in for their friendship’s sake but rather clueless about what his support can and will look like. Security and stability are very important to Becca as she grew up with an alcoholic father. They aren’t opposites, but she needs to see him as someone she reliable. The friends and sibling connections are a lot in this book. But I instantly remembered the previous couples and am happy for their progress.
One trigger concern I’ve had about the whole series is the focus is very much on babies. One characters grandmother is considered the baby whisperer and she tells women they are pregnant before they may know themselves. I don’t know of another series I’ve read where babies are so much the focus. So if that topic is in anyway a trigger for you, this may not be your series.
This is for readers who enjoy closed door romances with very little cursing. There is little steam factor beyond kissing and some ogling. Both characters POV is reflected, which is helpful. I find it funny that I happened to read two accidental pregnancy books almost back to back . It isn’t a trope I read more than a few times a year. I recommend this series and like both Jackson and Becca.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Starting Over on Sunshine Corner gives us another set of characters that we’ve met in previous books in the series. Rebecca Hayes is a single mother, focusing on her daughter and her career. Dating is the last thing on her mind. Her close friend, Jackson, is the only man that she’s been out with, and after one memorable night, she finds herself pregnant. Now it’s up to Jackson to make his dreams of a future with Rebecca a reality and prove to her that he’s the man that she wants and needs in her life.
This is the third book in the Sunshine Corner series, but this could easily be read as a standalone if you don’t mind getting glimpses at the futures of the characters from the previous books. The unexpected pregnancy trope is one that I don’t usually read, but Phoebe Mills handles it beautifully in the development of the romantic relationship between two good friends. I loved the relationship as it progresses over the course of the book, and I enjoyed seeing the supporting characters from previous books pop up and play a part in this romance.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced digital copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I got sunshine from this book. Every book i read from her i just enjoy so much. They all are great in their own way. Must read. glad i found this author and will find more books to read.
this series is so wholesome! I can't get enoughh of sunshine corner. I love all of the characters and their respective stories. the tension and the love stories are everything I wanted and more. I highly recommend this series to everyone all of the time.
Rebecca Hayes, a single mom of an almost 5 year old has found herself date-free for far too long and in need of one for a wedding so she ends up going with her best friend since high school, Jackson Lowe. Jackson is a single, fun-loving "playboy" who doesn't seem to have any goals (if you ask anyone who knows him). Somehow their friendship just works.
And for one night the two of them connect far more deeply. . . and Becca ends up pregnant, again. How will this work? Will Jackson step up and be the father her child deserves? Though Becca has had a crush on him since high school she has no illusions of love with Jackson, despite that one sexy night where their connection was amazing. She will be single and have 2 children to raise and she needs to be ready for that.
Jackson is not ready for a child, or is he? Can he be the man that Becca needs him to be, the father his child needs him to be? Can Jackson grow up and get serious?
Phoebe Mills has once again written a stand out, touching, gorgeous, sexy romance novel with a beautiful storyline. Her characters from this world have continued to grow and develop and the world is growing beautifully. Go read this newest Phoebe Mills novel. Its stunning!
This author has written a cozy romance about a delightful couple. The characters come alive on the pages of this book. The story moves quickly. Family and friends a,ong with love and romance make this book a fun read…taking responsibility…friendship turns into romance…what then? Mills keeps the reader guessing. Hoping for the couple to get together forever…children…family dynamics. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author. I liked this book.
I’m loving this series amd the story of Jackson and Becca was so sweet. This book was the perfect weekend read to relax with. Phoebe Mills perfectly writes the hesitation the characters feel when crossing the line to change their relationship - I loved it. This story warmed my heart and left me smiling.
Today it's almost impossible to be either too busy or too laid back. Now Jackson is way too laid back. He is in his 30s and all he wants to do is surf and hang around with women. He wants no part of running his father's landscaping company. When his girlfriend gets pregnant he has to.grow up and decide if she is his happily ever after woman.
As Jackson tries to decide hide his course through life, Rebecca has to make some decisions for herself.

A quick read about two friends who discover they can be more. Woven around finsing your place, family and friendship. A nice and fulfilling romance.
I love this series and returning to it was a delight! This installment features a friends to lovers trope featuring a single mom. I loved that this was real and authentic, no sugar coating. It was fresh and fun! The characters were lovely and catching up with characters from previous books in this series was wonderful. I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Phoebe Mills always impresses me, and this book was no exception! Each story in the Sunshine Corner world draws me in more and more. I loved reading about Becca, her strength is so admirable and I very much relate to her with her need for order, organization, and planning. But sometimes, as this story shoes, the best things in life are completely spontaneous. Thank you to the publisher for sending me this book in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. Phoebe Mills is an auto-buy author for me and I recommendation anyone read this story, and the other two books that are so far released in the Sunshine Corner series!
Unexpected pregnancy and slow burn romance tropes.
Becca and Jackson have been best friends for years. An unexpected pregnancy helps them grow even closer as they lean on each other for support. I loved their chemistry, as well as their interactions with Becca’s 4 year old daughter. A sweet romance all around!
This is the third book in the series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. I had not read the previous stories, and it was not an issue. I loved the secondary characters though, so now I need to go read the first two books.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for Starting Over at Sunshine Corner to come out on February 7, 2023! Would be sweet Valentine’s Day read!
I've loved The Sunshine Corner series and her newest is book three in this remarkable set!
Starting Over on Sunshine Corner by Phoebe Mills swept me away!
Rebecca and Jackson felt like real people dealing and living with real life issues.
These characters were sweet and endearing and their chemistry was palpable.
There's a lot of emotional feeling here. I felt it just melt off the pages.
The small town setting is fun and whimsical.
Even the side characters I absolutely adored.
This book has romance, that will make you sigh and shed a few tears, it's all put together so well it will keep the reader turning the page to find out what happens next in the lives of Jackson and Rebecca.
Very real and I felt many emotions reading it. A story of love, loss, gain and family that make it hard to put down. A fast read.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."
Forever,
Thank You for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
this is the third book in the sunshine cove series. all the books in the series are very good. highly recommend.
This is the third book in the sunshine cove series, but it could easily be read as a stand alone. In this story we get to know Becca a steadfast single mom, and Jackson a fun loving surfing guy. Becca and Jackson are total opposites who have been best friends for years. Becca thrives on routine and structure and dependability, while Jackson is more of a spontaneous fun loving take risks kind of guy. I loved how supportive Jackson was, and how hard he worked to try to grow up to be the man that others in his life needed him to be. This was such a great story, and once I started it I didn’t want to put it down. I love all the side characters in this quirky town, especially Hilde, and I enjoyed getting to revisit many favorites from the first two books in the series. Another great book from Phoebe Mills, and hopefully not the last one in this series! I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
