Harlow Jones is a veterinarian and has come to Mistletoe Maine for one reason and one reason only. To pay off her student debts as quickly as she can so she can return to her life in Seattle. Things are going according to plan until Harlow finds herself immersed in small town living and the lives of its residents, especially Nick Keegan and his adorable son. Harlow keeps reminding herself to stick with her goal, but it becomes harder each day to focus on the real reason she is in town. Nick is determined to show Harlow she can have it all, but will he succeed before it’s too late?

Belle Calhoune brings us another delightful contemporary romance in the Mistletoe Maine series with Harlow and Nicks story. The book is about new beginnings, loss and second chances. I loved the characters right from the beginning of the story and could not resist cheering for Harlow and Nick to end up together. Who doesn’t like a happily ever after! Forever Publishing so graciously gifted me a copy of the book, which I read and reviewed voluntarily, so thank you Forever. Friends, come stop by Mistletoe Maine and meet some new wonderful friends.

This was my first Belle Calhoune romance and it will not be my last. I love a cozy small-town romance that has strong family and friendship vibes. This one definitely had all the right stuff. Plus it has dogs!! You can never go wrong with dogs! The slow-burn, clean romance between single dad Nick and new-to-town Harlow was sweet and satisfying. As with every good romance, the conflict was relatable and made me root for a happy ending for these lovable characters. This is the third book in the Mistletoe, Maine series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. All of my sweet, clean romance loving friends need to grab a copy of this one!

A return to rural small town Mistletoe, Maine brings Harlow to start over. She only wants to fulfill her obligation and then move back to the West Coast. She is haunted by what happened to her family when she was a child.
Nick has a young son to raise, but is willing to try at love again. However, Harlow wants low key casual.
I loved all the animals but not the smear campaign against Harlow as a vet.
I was crushed at one point but had hopes that Al, would turn out well, I mean, come on, it has to with a town named Mistletoe!

This book features a sweet, unexpected romance between two people who have not been looking for love. In the past, love has brought pain and loss to both Nick and Harlow. Nick, a search and rescue expert, lost his wife a few years ago when her car was involved in an accident with a drunk driver. Since then, any time outside of his job has been devoted to raising his young son and working his way through the grieving process. Nick has dated in the past couple of years, but hasn’t felt a connection or spark to any of the women he has dated. That changes the day he rescues Harlow from a terrible car accident.

Harlow felt the connection and the sparks between them too, though she didn’t get a chance to talk to Nick again before he disappeared. Imagine her surprise when she discovers that her handsome rescuer lives in the small town where she will be living and working for the next year. He is also her friend Stella’s brother-in-law, so they are bound to see each other again. While Nick is eager to see Harlow again and ask her out, Harlow is hesitant and wary. She has never had good luck in relationships, small town gossip ruined her family’s life in the past, and her veterinarian job in town is meant to be for just one year. Then she intends to put small town life behind her again, and return to city living debt free. Her hesitation puts Nick off at first, but they soon are looking forward to getting to know each other better. Unfortunately, malicious gossip soon puts Harlow’s rekindled love of small towns, her job and her relationship with Nick in jeopardy. Will she let these rumours and the pain from the past affect her life again? Can Nick convince her to stay? Will they both fight for their relationship and the future they could have together?

These characters are easy to like, very relatable and demand your attention until the last word has been read. Their story is sweet, poignant and fascinating, perfect for those who love romance, but don’t want racy or graphic details. I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Love is certainly in the air this month!!  Look at this beautiful book cover.  I couldn’t pass this one up!!

🌸 This is the third book in a series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone.  I wish NetGalley would tell us if it’s part of a series though……one of my NG pet peeves.

🌸 The story starts off with Nick saving Harlow’s life after she was in a horrible auto accident on her way to Mistletoe.  Nick lives in Mistletoe Main and works on the Search & Rescue team.  Harlow is a veterinarian from Settle and she is staying in Mistletoe temporarily in exchange for the forgiveness of her vet school bills.  Harlow swears she is not the small-town kind of gal.  Will Nick and the rest of the town of Mistletoe change her mind?  Will Harlow stay in Mistletoe Main?

❤️ Read this if you like:
❤️Small-town slow-burn romance
❤️ Single Dad Trope
  ❤️ A sweet Hallmark-like romance with a HEA
❤️ A quick heartwarming read
❤️ Also discussed:  Loss of a loved one, anger, overcoming & confronting your past

🌸 I really enjoyed Belle Calhoune’s writing style.  Her characters were realistic and lovable.  I will definitely go back to read the other two books in the series.

Mistletoe, Maine sounds like such a delightful place. Dr. Harlow Jones is a veterinarian with a lot of student loan debt. She finds information that if she will work at a clinic known as Paws in Mistletoe, Maine, for one year, the state of Maine will have her debt forgiven. She is conflicted about moving to Mistletoe as she is averse to small town living, but she knows it is the best for thing for her, especially since it is temporary. On her way into town she has an accident and is rescued by the hero of the book, Nick Keegan. Nick works with Search and Rescue, and he comforts Harlow while she is being rescued and then rescues her as well. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out Nick is a hunky stud and a hero to boot.

They do not realize that they are tied together by family and friends until they both attend a party for Nick's brother and his wife (who happens to be Harlow's best friend). There is a little romance brewing, but Harlow has some walls built up. Nick is also a little timid as he has not gotten over the loss his young wife. You can actually feel the romantic tension coming off of the pages of the book. They are fighting an internal battle to keep from falling for each other. Harlow is also adamant that she will not live in a small town due to a traumatic situation from her childhood.

I loved the characters in this book. The characters are three dimensional, and they come alive off of the pages.
Harlow is a conscientious vet who dearly loves animals, and even though she has some barriers erected, she still has a loving personality. Nick is a hero who loves to protect and serve. He takes his job very seriously and grieves for those he cannot save. He is also a fantastic father to Miles. This book would make a wonderful Hallmark movie. It was one of those books that gave you warm and fuzzy feelings, but it also tackled real life issues like dealing with a terminally ill parent and grieving the loss of a spouse. This was a definitely worthy of five stars.

Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for this ARC.

Falling In Love on Sweetwater Lane by Belle Calhoune is book #3 in the Mistletoe, Maine series. Unfortunately, it is the final book which makes me really sad. I totally fell in love with Mistletoe and all its small town charms. Harlow Jones has been offered a chance of a lifetime. Maine will pay off all her student loans if she works one year at PAWS (a veteniary clinic in Mistletoe, Maine). Though she hates small towns, she knows it's too good of an opportunity to turn down. She'll be closer to her mom and her twin brother who reside in Cape Cod and Boston. On her first day there, she gets rescued by Nick Keegan. Nick Keegan is a search and rescue team leader. He is a widower with a son. Though he hasn't felt a spark yet for someone new that changes the moment he meets Harlow. Harlow isn't looking for love, but it doesn't hurt to hang out with Nick for a year until she moves back to Seattle. That's the plan anyways. Yet, both Nick and Harlow can't stop their feelings growing for each other. Can Harlow learn to love small towns again and stop running away from her past and insecurities? Hopefully, Nick and his son Miles can convince her that they are enough of a reason for her to change her mind.
I am going to miss this small lovely New England town. I loved getting to know everyone. You don't need to read the books in order and you can definitely follow the story without reading the first two books. But I think you'll want to read all of them to get to know all these wonderful characters and all the charms of Mistletoe. Like most series, all the main characters are connected or related to each other. I liked how each of the previous main characters were quite present in each of the subsequent books. I also love seeing how a city girl who hated small towns got to see all the wonderful things about living in a small town like Mistletoe. She came to love that small town and the community and friends she found there. As I said, I am going to miss Mistletoe. Thankfully we get an epilogue. It was beautiful and of course, I teared up reading about their happy ending. Even though everything was tied up in a nice bow, I still have hope that maybe just maybe Belle Calhoune might write a little short story or another book about the people of Mistletoe, Maine. I was given a copy of this book, but all opinions are my very own!

I loved the prologue. There’s nothing like a good prologue to lure you into a book. It sets the tone for how the book will go.

I love everything about this book. From how the author cleverly weaves her words together, creating a subtle mystery which engages you into turning the next page. You just want to know.

I love the multi-cultural vibes. I have read a lot of books like this but what makes this especially special is that these are people who look like me. They are people and scenes that I can relate to and with. I love that it celebrates our community and it makes me happy reading about people like myself.

This book explores relationships. Relationships between parents and children, siblings, man and woman, cousins. It celebrates love, family, values and relationships. There is also grief- you cannot fully get over the loss of a loved one but you find the means of getting by each day while still keeping their memories alive.

I love all of the characters-from Miles to Tess and even Gillian and Zeus. The small town vibes raised the notch for me. From people welcoming strangers to them not minding their business, I just love it.

I love how Nick was just himself and how he was able to pull him out of his grief. I admire his devotion to Miles, his dedication to his job, his love for his family and his community.

I love how he was able to ‘break down’ all of Harlow’s defenses while still being consistent true to who he is.

Even though this is a part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone and you will fall in love with all of the characters, even the others from previous books.

I look forward to reading more works from the author

I really enjoyed this book. It is the third book in the series and you can read them in order or read them as a stand alone. You won't feel lost if you have not read the other two books.

Harlow has some issues in her childhood that she has to work out, one is having to move from the house that she loved after her father died.

Nick is having a hard time getting over the loss of his wife and is raising their son by himself. I enjoyed the story and can't wait to read more by Belle Calhoune.

What a sweet story from Belle Calhoune. Harlow just wants to be debt free and free from the pain of her past. She sets out for Maine to work in a vet practice for a year to have her school debt erased. Before she can even get there she is in a frightening accident where SAR member Nick comes to her rescue. From there we get front row seats into how this small town begins to show Harlow how to heal and move forward in her life. This is the third book in the Mistletoe,Maine series. I will be going back to read the first two. However, you could read this as a stand alone.

Harlow is a veterinarian who finds herself returning to the life of living in a small town. Harlow will be staying in Mistletoe for year to get her student loan paid off. Nick is on the local rescue team. He is a widow and a single father to his 9-year-old son Miles. Nick and Harlow met when her car skids off the road spinning out of control and Nick comes to her rescue. The two continue to run into each other because of the small town where everyone knows everyone. Nick and Harlow soon learn that they share a connection with a mutual friend. Neither Nick nor Harlow are looking for romance but some how find themselves embarking on a romantic journey.

Will Harlow decide to stay in Mistletoe, is there an HEA in store for Nick and Harlow that the two desire and deserve?

Four and a Half Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭒
Falling in Love on Sweetwater Lane by Belle Calhoune is the third book in the Mistletoe, Maine Series but can easily be read as a stand-alone. This sweet, heartwarming romance is sure to warm your heart.

Story Recap:
Veterinarian Harlow Jones moves to Mistletoe Maine to take a one-year position as a veterinarian at the PAWS vet clinic. She doesn’t like small towns because of some issues she had as a child, but in order to pay off her student loans, she knows she can handle one year in a small town. She’ll just grin and bear it.

Nick believes he might be ready to love again after the loss of his wife, and starts to feel something for the first time since his wife’s death for the lovely new veterinarian, Harlow. But, she’s determined to leave her year is up, can Nick and his son convince Harlow to stay?

My Thoughts:
I enjoyed this lovely small-town romance. It’s part of a series, and I didn’t read the first two books, but still fully enjoyed this third book in the series. I now need to read the first two books as I really loved the setting in Mistletoe, Maine.

Both Harlow and Nick don’t want to get into a relationship, but their chemistry is strong, and they have so much in common. I liked this slow-burn romance and liked that Nick and Harlow spent some time together before the romance set in. Nine-year-old Miles, Nick’s son was a nice addition to the story. I just can’t resist a good single-dad story. Overall this was a sweet, charming story with a satisfying romance.

Recommendation:
I highly recommend Falling in Love on Sweetwater Lane to anyone who enjoys romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

FALLING IN LOVE ON SWEETWATER LANE is an engaging story about two people who are resisting the pull of love because of their pasts. Once again, the author, Belle Calhoune, takes us to Mistletoe, Maine and introduces us to Harlow Jones, a Veterinarian and reintroduces us to Nick Keegan. We first met Nick in SUMMER ON BLACKBERRY BEACH which is the story of his brother, Luke and his lady love, Stella Marshall. At the beginning of the story, Nick saves Harlow’s life when she becomes involved in an auto crash. Nick is a member of the Search & Rescue team. Harlow is planning to live in Mistletoe for an year, and work as a vet in a deal with the State to pay her student loans. She swears that she is not a fan of small town life— a bitter memory from her past.

I enjoyed Nick and Harlow’s story that chronicles their friendship. When that friendship begins to morph into a serious relationship, that’s where the story gets a little bogged down in their past lives. There are a few highlights of the storyline that are refreshing: Nick’s son Miles perspective of his father and Harlow’s relationship, the iTrick or Treat Halloween incident, and the damage that the small-town gossip mill can do. You’ll get that when you read the book..

This is story that looks at the family dynamic and how past incidents influences the future. It’s a solid story that gets a little stalled when the heroine (Harlow) has problems moving forward. I still recommend it for your reading pleasure especially if you are a small town romance fan.

Enjoyable romance. Nice careers for the main characters. Back stories for each are heart-breaking. The warmth and also the gossip of a small town play a big role. Nice story which includes a young boy and dogs. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

Harlow Jones is a veterinarian and is moving to Mistletoe for 1 year to get her student loans paid off. She doesn't like living in a small town. Nick Keegan is on the local rescue team. Harlow's car spins out of control as she is coming into town. The man to get her out of the car is Nick' she tries to find him to thank him later.
Nick is a widower with a son and not really looking for a woman to date.
Harlow and Nick keep running into each other in the small town, and soon find out they have a lot of friends and family in common. Can Harlow get used to living in a small town and will Nick open his heart again?
This is my first-time reading Belle Calhoune she has written a wonderful story.

This book is another one I didn’t realize was part of a series. The great news is that it can definitely be read as a stand alone and I didn’t feel like I was missing anything from the previous books!

Harlow Jones hates small town living. She grew up in a small town until the family was forced to leave after her father was accused of embezzling money from his medical practice. These accusations were eventually proven to be false but long after her father died.

Mistletoe Maine is the quintessential small town. Harlow is a successful veterinarian and she is offered a one year contract to work in Mistletoe at a busy vet clinic in exchange for both a salary and her students loans will be forgiven. As much as she hates small towns, she can’t refuse the opportunity.

Now that Harlow is in Mistletoe, she vows to not get attached and be on her way as soon as her contract is up. Nick Keegan a widowed single father may have other plans.

After dating Nick and building friendships with many of the townspeople, Harlow is starting to wonder if she is a small town girl after all!

This was a cute, clean romance. The story focused on Harlow and Nick but there was a wonderful cast of side characters who have either already had their own story or you can see the potential of a forthcoming story. This was a super quick read and kept me engaged. I’m giving this one 4 stars and putting the other books from the series on my tbr.

3.5 stars

This book was a slow starter for me, probably because I hadn't realized it was part of a series (NetGalley, please!!), but I wouldn't call that a show-stopper. Once I got up to speed on who was who, it was an easy storyline to pick up.

I enjoyed Nick and Harlow's story. Everyone has a past, and that past forms who we are today. For Harlow, that meant some walls were up, plans were made and in her mind, not to be broken. Nick has also suffered great loss and was able to understand Harlow's point of view, which helped their relationship a lot.

I would definitely read another book by this author.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Falling in Love on Sweetwater Lane is the third in Belle Calhoune’s diverse small-town Mistletoe, Maine series. You can read this one as a standalone, although the recurring town aspects are a lot of fun for returning readers (although, full disclosure: I somehow missed that there even had been a book two!)
I did enjoy this one a tad bit more than the first, as there was some surprising character depth, particularly to Nick. He lost his wife in a car crash, and his grief over the loss, including his blame toward the other person involved (who he describes as having “killed” his wife) feel so visceral. The sheer anger at having come face-to-face with that person and having to deal with that unresolved trauma really spoke to me.
Harlow is equally compelling due to having some baggage of her own that she must contend with throughout the book, and which she spends a lot of the story running from. I like that this formed both a sort of bonding point for her and Nick, while also serving as an obstacle, as she continues to run and he has roots in the community and with Miles, his young son who he’s raising as a single parent. Their path to love is predictable, but sweet…especially with the role Miles plays in their romance.
This is a cozy, fun read, and will satisfy anyone looking for small-town, Hallmark-style romance with Black and other diverse characters in leading roles.
