I had high hopes for this one after reading the blurb. However, it was only okay for me. The grammatical and Historical errors were just too hard for me to overlook. It's a peeve of mine. I will still be continuing to read the series.
Thank you Laura Landon, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.
This was a steady story. Theo & Livvie have a past and when Theo shows up at the door of the orphange she runs, she is shocked. They have much to overcome to reach their happy ever after, but it is clear that their love is still strong. Livvie is such a strong character, capable and compassionate. I enjoyed the story and the evolution of their family.
The premise of the story was good but the execution just didn’t work for me. The characters were too superficial, past drama and hurt was just magically resolved, and the MCs child was 5 years old — then 4 years old…no matter his age the mannerisms and speech of the child were equivalent to a 20 year old.
Here’s hoping the next book is better.

I give praise to the writer for her remarkable writing in this emotionally charged loved story. Livia and Theo constantly stood at battle with one another over the causes in their lives that they blamed that has kept them apart. The writer did a wonderful job with explaining Theo’s story that had me sympathizing with him more. Livid I believe was filled so much hurt, anger and betrayal. I was hoping that she was cut some slack for Theo. The book reads easily. The entertainment between Livie and Theo keeps the pages turning. The romance is a little slow build, but it’s the journey to get that makes the book worth reading. The writer did a wonderful job with this book. Until next time my fellow readers… read on!
A Love That Knows No Bounds by Laura Landon is the second book of the Men of Valor series. Olivia Matthews runs the Angel’s Wings Orphanage. One night when Livie is walking home, she comes across a dying man who gives her something and makes her promise to only give it to a man named Jason. A younger Captain Theodore Dunworthy ran from his father’s plans to have him become a vicar. He regrets that he had to leave Livie behind without saying goodbye. He works for the Crown now, and he is in search of documents that were supposed to be delivered by a fellow agent. He finds the trail leads to the Angel’s Wings Orphanage. He is stunned to come face to face with his past when he finds out Livie is involved.
I wasn’t a big fan of this book. I didn’t find the story exciting or the characters interesting. I did like the idea of Livie running the orphanage, though.
Secrets, Spies, and Second Chances
He loved and abandoned her, and now, he was back. Could she trust him again? Theo had a secret, and so did Olivia. Their secrets were intertwined, and the danger was creeping ever closer. This story kept me turning the pages, wondering what choices Olivia would make. She found herself in an untenable situation, and her life was in peril. Love, secrets, and second chances collide in this excellent Regency romance. Why did Theo leave Olivia all those years ago? What would happen when he found out her secrets? Could the two find their way together again? Before love could have a second chance, there were villains to defeat and peril to survive. I look forward to what this author pens next.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley and this is my freely given opinion.
This is a follow up to A Love for All Time, but this could be read as a stand alone novella.
Olivia Matthews has been living at the Angel's Wings Orphanage for the past several years and is now responsible for running it. She and the orphanage have a difficult task of helping young mothers, especially those who are unmarried, safely birth their babies, then find homes for them, and there are several children living there, where they are cared for and taught, until they can be found homes and/or be trained for work. They are often underfunded and short staffed, and she is very actively involved in the work, often going days without proper food and rest. But she is fully invested in the orphanage as when she was in need herself, it was a haven for her, and her son.
When she was finally making her way home to her own little cottage one night, she comes across a critically injured man who gives her some items to hide away and makes a dying request of her to hide them and only trust one man, Jason, to give them to.
Theodore Dunworthy had run away from his family years prior to join the war, making his way up the ranks to captain. He wanted to avoid his father's plans to force him to be a vicar. His only regret is leaving behind the woman he loved without even saying goodbye. Now he works for the Crown still, and is on the trail of some important documents a fellow agent was supposed to deliver. He tracks things to the Angel's Wing, and collides with his past when he finds Olivia there.
This was a very sweet story of love lost, and second chances. I felt for Olivia being abandoned by Theodore, and then being turned out of her home when she revealed her pregnancy. Then the drama of their pasts colliding with the present when Theodore and Oliva meet again was quite satisfying. But I could not accept how, if Theo loved her so much, why, after sleeping with Olivia, he never write or communicated with her again; that he just ran off and joined the Army. That is such a cowardly thing to do, especially if he cared enough to still be thinking of her. Also, the sweet elements of the story were very sweet. Too cloyingly sweet, and rather difficult to swallow, especially considering how dark some of the drama was - such as one main character being whipped to bleeding and near death by opposing forces.
It was a decent, quick read, and I liked it, but did not love it as it had me yoyoing a bit.
3.25 stars out of 5
This is Book 2 in the Men of Valor series but can be easily read as a standalone. This is a beautifully written historical romance that will give you all the feels. Olivia has had a tough life and she now runs a home for unwed mothers and their babies. The last person she ever expected to see there was her former love, Theodore. Theodore works for the Crown and is on the hunt for a spy. His search leads him to Olivia's doorstep, and one look at her and he is reminded of how deeply he loved her, and still loves her. Olivia is hiding a secret from Theodore and is determined he not find out what it is. He left her without saying goodbye all those years ago and broke her heart. Even though she still loves him, she doesn't believe that she can trust him not to leave her again.
This second chance romance is filled with danger, deception, intrigue and romance and kept me engaged throughout the whole story. It is a lovely story that will pull at your heartstrings and warm your heart. The characters were interesting and endearing and you can't help but fall in love with them. The storyline was intriguing and definitely kept my interest till the end. I enjoyed this addition and look forward to reading more of this series.

Although a sweet, albeit suspenseful, romance, there were a number of inconsistencies that did not add up for me. Olivia's plight was common in her era, but she nevertheless made the most of her situation, thereby creating a place of refuge. When Theodore Dunworthy reappears in her life after a five-year absence, she is devastated especially since she is keeping secrets. Danger arrives on Olivia's doorstep, which she takes seriously to her own detriment. However, when a traitor appears in their midst, nothing is as it seems. The novel comes to a successful conclusion, but I felt that the plot was a little weak in places. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

The story seemed to be set a few years after Crimea which would make it say 1857., In the crimea the french were the Brtish allies so I found it odd that Wallace would have been stealing the French battle plans plus a jewel to pas onto McBride. The heroine is working at an orphanage. Her parents threw her out when she became pregnant. The father, hero in this story ran away from his parents because they wanted him to join the church so he ran off to fight in the Crimea leaving the heroine in a desperate situation, He hadn't known about the baby but it still seemed a bit of a weak plotline to me. Surely in Vctorian England there were other ways to earn a coin and keep in touch with your girl friend.. Theo is asked by the governmengt to find the papers and the Jewel. Olivia found Wallace just before he died and promised him she would only give the papers to Mcbride, with forethought she asked him for a description.
The other part I found outlandish was: 150 french trrops would camp on British soil without either being surrounded by british military or being turfed out of Engliand. England is small so a large camp site would be easily spotted as would a waiting ship off shore. Olivia is first tortured by the villian who is trying to get the jewel and then shot twice. Flogging seems a partculaiily poor way of extracting information. The writing is good but the plotlines didn't work for me or the way in which Olivia forgave Theo and wanted to play happy families.
The Cover is nice.

Olivia Mathews runs a home for unwed mothers and orphans. Olivia is strong, extremely smart, savy, kind and caring. Especially as she tries to juggle the need for money to continue supporting the mothers and the orphans.
She is surprised one day to find Captain Theodore Dunworthy on her doorstep as he searches for a fellow soldier. Theodore left Olivia years ago without saying a word, and Olivia is disconcerted to see Theodore again.
This is a great historical story with a mystery to solve.
Captain Theo Dunworthy is a soldier and an agent for the Crown. He is tracking a fellow agent with important information about the French. His trail takes him to a home for unwed mothers and orphans run by Olivia Matthews. Theo and Olivia have a history. She has had a rough go since he left for the army without a word. Now they are both involved in a dangerous mystery. This is a well-written action-packed story full of spies, intrigue, and a traitorous villain, combined with a touchy second chance romance for Olivia and Theo. Will they solve the mystery of the missing papers? Will Theo be able to convince Olivia that she can trust him again and that they can start anew, and how will he react with Olivia reveals her secret? A riveting story and a great addition to the series. I am looking forward to Jack’s story.

When Captain Theodore Dunworthy is on his latest mission for the Crown, he finds himself face to face with the woman, he believes he had lost forever when he walked away to go to war. Olivia Matthews never thought that she would see Theo, and when she is confronted by him, she needs to keep her secret from him. He must never know that there time together five years ago, resulted in them having a son. Olivia found shelter in the shelter for abandoned women and children, a home she now runs. Yet Olivia does not realise that Theo is there to uncover the papers and jewels that she is hiding, given to her by a dying man.
An intriguing story, that intertwines a second chance romance with murder and espionage. Theo and Olivia’s feelings are never far from the surface, making for a lovely romance. This book had me hooked from the first chapter.

There are too many unexplained ‘coincidences’ for me in A Love That Knows No Bounds. There seemed to be a huge gap between Livie telling Theo she did not want to see him. Then, it seems like she is suddenly accepting him back. How do the French know where to find the papers and jewel especially on English soil? How do they sneak into Livie’s room to kidnap her so easily without being seen. How could she even get out of bed to go back to their camp. I could add more, but do not want to be so negative. I will not be posting anything publicly because I believe Ms. Landon is a great writer. This is just not her best.
This was such a cute, fast paced read about a second chance romance and it made my heart feel all warm and fuzzy!!
Olivia Matthews runs a home for unwed mothers and their babies. She is always trying to raise money to keep food on the table and homes for the unwanted children. A man who dies on her doorstep is going to bring much more trouble than she can cope with.
Our heroine is strong and fearless. She's faced a lot of heart ache in the last few years. A man from her past is about to come back into her life, but she knows she can't trust him.
Captain Theodore Dunworthy is on the trail of a spy. The last person he expects to find is the woman he left behind years ago. Will she allow him to complete his mission or stand in his way?
This is a historical romance that will tug on your heartstrings. The heroine is by far the strongest character. Unfortunately even the strongest amongst us need help occasionally. That's where our hero at last discovers he can do more than he believes.
An action packed story that will take you by surprise. Very exciting.
I loved it.
Historical fiction and family…friends…children…caring and love…enemies…this is a quick read about a woman who is in charge of an orphanage and a home for unwed mothers. She is caring and brave when lives are threatened…love and romance…this book was sent to me by Netgalley for review…thanks to the pub, isher for the electronic copy…I enjoyed reading about this protagonist and her family and friends.
Unrealistic expectations! Recovery seems awfully quick from being whipped and a short time later shot twice in one day. I think my recovery would take a lot more time. The story of the jewel and papers were realistic, but I wasn't completely sold on the French camping out close to the backyard of the orphanage without British troops close by.(?) There were a few other situations I didn't see as being realistic. Sorry, but this one didn't have the depth I was looking for in characters and the storyline.

When Captain Theodore Dunworthy goes on a dangerous assignment for the Crown, the last person he expects to meet at a home for unwed mothers & orphans is the women he loved and lost. But seeing her again reminds him of how desperately he loved her, and still does. Olivia Matthews has a secret Theo can never discover, Jamie the son he doesn't know she had. Even though her heart longs for him, she knows she can't trust that he won't leave her again. Olivia runs the home & has done for nearly five years, she has a nearby cottage, which is seldom used but one night after being on her feet for two days delivering a baby & then helping a child with a fever she needs a good nights uninterrupted sleep. So she’s surprised when she encounters a fatally injured man who give her some papers & a jewel & makes her promise to only give them to Jason.
The second book in the series but it’s easily read on its own, Olivia is one of the strongest heroines you’ll meet & she's certainly put through the wringer, I loved her. Theo left Olivia without saying goodbye & gradually learns how strong she is & begins to give her support when needed. A well written second chance romance, which combined a lovely romance with danger, spies, intrigue & a downright nasty villain. I devoured it in an afternoon & now look forward to Jack’s story
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Action packed intriguing romance with a very strong heroine who hasn't had an easy time what more could you ask for. I read this in one sitting couldn't put it down 5 stars. I received this from netgallery in exchange for an honest review as given above
