This book is a fairly complex mocktail book. If you are seriously pursuing the subject, it's a good resource. If you are more casually interested, you might look elsewhere.

This book gave me so many new drink ideas to try out. I liked the fact that these gave a non-alcoholic version to various cocktails. Because sometimes I just want the taste of a cocktail without the alcohol.

New Mocktails Bible: All Occasion Guide to an Alcohol-Free, Zero-Proof, No-Regrets, Sober-Curious Lifestyle 250 Tasty Drink Recipes Made with Fresh Ingredients by veteran cookbook author Anne Schaeffer is absolutely perfect for those who love cocktails but want to avoid alcohol. This cookbook is loaded with great ideas for non-alcoholic beverages. These aren’t your regular super-sweet virgin drinks; rather they are made from mixers and distilled beverages from Mocktail Beverages, Inc., as well as other companies that have developed ingredients for these amazing drinks that apparently taste like alcohol like non-alcoholic whisky and gin.

The book includes beautiful, professional photographs of every Mocktail recipe; most are beautiful drinks that are very appealing. In the first chapter, there are lists of equipment needed, ingredients for the beverages, a glossary of terms, as well as basic recipes for simple syrups, flavored ice cubes, fruit purees, caster sugar, and other necessary ingredients.

While a lot of the drinks contain specialized ingredients from several companies, there are also dozens of drinks that are different from cocktails such as mouthwatering smoothies and dessert drinks that are very appealing, and that don’t have special ingredients.

All told, this book has dozens of recipes for drinks that can be served for many different occasions. It will be used often by those who like innovative, fun beverages.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

If you're looking for mocktails during a dry month, this is a great book to pick up. There are plenty of recipes to try in this book and a great guide if you do not drink. I did love how some of the desert drinks were more coffee themed. However, the cover and photos seemed dated and could use a refresh.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book. I received a copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest review

New Mocktails Bible is a great recipe book with a delicious and wide range of non-alcoholic drinks. I like the emphasis on fresh ingredients. However, the book could have been better organised and the pictures are simple and boring.

This book is divided into chapters on: New Signature Mocktails; Traditional Mocktails and Mixed Drinks; Unusual Mixers and Drink Bases; After Dinner Drinks; and Dessert Drinks. There is also an Introduction which lists essential equipment (blender, vegetable peeler); important ingredients (bitters, fruit puree) as well as a helpful glossary. This chapter also features recipes for things like mint simple syrup and basic shrub to make your drinks even more homemade.

This book delivers some adventurous sober drinks that will make even the most diehard alcohol connoisseurs step out of their comfort zone! I really appreciated the book’s impressive range of drinks made with fresh ingredients. There are savoury concoctions like the Jones Beach Cocktail (starring beef consomme and clam juice!) and The Keelplate (a coastal Bloody Mary but with clam juice!). There are sweet drinks like the Maple Plum Marvel (a plum juice and yogurt confection which tastes like a breakfast pastry). There are iced teas like the Tropical Iced Tea (a tarty concoction with pineapple juice and fresh pineapple sage leaves), smoothies like the robustly pink Cranberry Craving (crisply citrus with cranberries, raspberries, and orange juice), and coffee-based drinks like the sweetly milky Caffe Napoli (boosted with toasted hazelnut oil!).

Also, the book could have been much more coherently organised as the recipe placement made little sense and many drinks could fit into other categories. But, the recipes are clear and easy-to-follow. I like that the book features both easy and more complicated drinks. But, all the recipes are approachable for all levels of mixologists. With the exception of the first chapter, many of the ingredients are fairly accessible and moderately inexpensive. I actually disliked the first chapter which is mostly filled with classic cocktails made with alcohol-free substitutes. I did not find them to be imaginative as they simply swapped out the alcohol for fake alcohol. This means a lot of expensive specialty buys. Furthermore, for the book’s more innovative drinks, you will need many specialty equipment and ingredients like a Vietnamese Coffee Press, orange-infused caramel, as well as fresh tea leaves.

Each recipe begins with a very brief and serviceable but dull introduction. These tiny writeups mostly consist of tasting notes as well as ingredient substitutions. I would have loved some history on the drink or its unusual ingredients. But, I did enjoy the cool drink names like the Grecian Lady, Pac Man, and Pearls and Lace!

The simple layout is clean but so boring. There is a large “advanced review copy” label on every page that almost completely covers the top half of the page and I struggled to read what was underneath it. I really do like that almost every drink recipe has a full-colour and simply staged picture but they are underwhelming. If you want me to be excited about mocktails, I would have loved better styling and more colours and excitement!

🍹🍹🍹 out of 5 mocktails!

I’m not a huge drinker but sometimes I’d like something a little fancy but I don’t want the buzz. This is perfect. Also I totally would have loved this when I was pregnant and only craved a margarita lol.

Some ingredients might be difficult to find.

Who doesn't have friends who don't drink? (If that's you, you might want to expand your circle!) Well, I almost gave up on this book in the first section of drinks because the recipes were all using products, like fake alcohol, which is not what I was expecting. I'm glad I kept flipping through because it gets better and gives lots of alternatives to common and unusual cocktails. Some of the photography is very colorful and visually pleasing while some of it seemed lower quality or dated. I wasn't pleased with the section that seemed to just be different fruit and/or fruit juices blended together--we all have smoothie books for that. There are a number of tea and coffee and milkshake recipes, but the organization or ordering of them was not obvious to me. However, I would consider getting this for someone who doesn't know where to start making mocktails, and I loved the part about making simple syrups near the beginning. 3.5 stars.

I accessed a digital review copy of this book from the publisher.
This book contains everything you need to know to make miked drinks- alcohol-free of course. This is not an apology that you can not have the alcoholic version, so hey, here is one without. It is a celebration of various drinks that all happen to not contain alcohol.
The book starts with the bar tool basics that you will need, and some that could come in handy. After that it has a list of common ingredients, along with recipes, to make many drinks. It then moves on to a glossary of terms that deal with mixed drinks, of all proofs, so that you can have a better idea of what you are getting just from reading the name. Finally, you get to the drinks sections: new signature mocktails, traditional mocktails and mixed drinks, unusual mixers and drink bases, after-dinner drinks, and dessert drinks.
The signature mocktails are all made with alcohol-free premade mixers or zero-proof versions of alcohol. The authors have included information about the creators of the recipes and often about the companies/creators of the drinks.
One thing I like about this is that there is such a wide variety of drinks, from sweet to sour to savory. None of the instructions are too difficult and the ingredient lists are not too wild.
This is a good book for someone who does a lot of entertaining and wants to add variety to their drinks. This is also good for the homebody who likes to explore new flavors.

As someone who has a lot of sober people in their life this is definitely a good read. Who knew there were so many fun non alcoholic drinks you can make for your friends? The recipes were very interesting and looked simple enough to make, not overly complicated. I didn’t love the design/layout of the book but the contents were enough to look past that and keep reading!

New Year’s Eve has passed and even the hangover is gone. You want to set a resolution for a dry January. But sodas, tea and fruit drinks just don’t seem festive enough for dinner. No problem. Welcome to the New Mocktails Bible, where the drinks are all beautiful and tasty while also being alcohol free.

From instructions to make fruit shrubs to sour mix, this book has tasty moneysaving ways to create homemade mixers as well as mocktails. I am just thinking how much money I will save next summer on store-bought margarita and daiquiri mixes.

The book begins with some basic recipes for common mixers, a glossary and a list of barkeep tools. The next chapter contains recipes using hard-to-find, and I expect expensive, alcohol substitutes. However, the remaining pages contain some delicious sounding recipes using commonly found ingredients—many used in surprising ways.

The New Mocktails Bible is a wonderful resource for both non-drinkers and drinkers. 5 stars!

Thanks to Fox Chapel and NetGalley for a digital review copy of the book.

I thoroughly enjoyed reviewing this “mock tail” book. I was not thrilled with the design of the book. All the pictures look like they were taken on a 2007 Samsung phone. Not the best quality. However the writing is really good and I love the recipes. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book!

Lovely photographs, and lots of great recipes if you are not a drinker, or just trying to enjoy drinks without alcohol.

I really enjoyed this book, and anyone who wants refreshing non-alcoholic drinks should read this book!

I enjoyed this book. Enticing photos for each recipe. Such a charming book the way it is laid out. The first part's recipes calls for specific brands, and offers a nice spot with info about the brand or on the business. But the last half does not call for specific brands and are mostly ingredients you'd have on hand or could easily purchase. This is a great book on mocktails to add to my recipe shelf. This book makes adding healthier mocktails to your repertoire a fun and easy experience. I highly recommend.

A collection of recipies to help have a traditional cocktail without having the alcohol. Some recipies call for alcohol free versions of liquor.

I received a digital ARC from NetGalley for review.

If you love cocktails but wish to limit the alcohol, this book has you covered. Plenty of the classics and a few newer drinks are included. Cold coffee drinks, smoothies, and milkshakes, oh my!

Fantastic photography as well.

I can't wait to try some of these "mocktails."

This was such a cool book to read! I was immediately drawn to this book because it promised to teach readers how to make non-alcoholic drinks that were delicious and refreshing. It was nice to see a how-to guide on drinks that do not contain any alcohol, because most books that feature drink recipes tend to focus on alcoholic ones. I think this "bible" is a great idea for people who want a delicious drink but do not want to or cannot drink any alcohol. I was impressed at how easy the recipes were for the drinks in this book, and I can see myself continuing to reference this book in the future whenever I want to make a mocktail for myself or my guests. This book is super helpful and easy to read. I also love that the drinks in this book have super creative and fun names. I will definitely be recommending this "bible" to anyone looking to make the perfect mocktail!

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to review this book.

I absolutely love this book! Being sober for 8 years, it is hard to find a good amount of recipes for cocktails and this is a gold mine!

In New Mocktails Bible by the Editors of Fox Chapel Publishing, I found just what I need for my home "bar." I am trying to come off of alcohol, and I think this is the best book to help me do that. The book has so much amazing information, terminology with definitions, and gorgeous pictures, which is a must have for me. It is absolutely packed with recipes, and that was a huge plus! I cannot wait to put this book to good use! Excellent job!

Thank you to all of the authors and editors, publisher, and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
