couldn't really get into this book and took me a long time to get through it. The idea was great, I just didn't connect with the main characters at all. They seemed a little too immature for people in their 30's and just so bad at communicating and their childish banter.
I'm sure many people will like this as this has reader favorite tropes but it just wasn't for me.
Thank you for the advanced copy

i get so stocked about enemies-to-lovers because the banter is always on-point but i didn’t necessarily feel it with this novel. i was excited that this would remind me of grey’s anatomy but it didn’t have the same spark as the series does. to me, mira and lucien’s equally competitive natures made them butt heads throughout the plot and i quickly got tired of their child-like arguments and constant need to be better than the other. i also wasn’t a fan of how their relationship came into existence because it felt so forced - if i didn’t like a co-worker as much as mira admits to despising lucien, i don’t think i’d be able to fake a relationship … even if it meant a chance at saving my career. there were too many instanced where problems could’ve been avoided if the two of them would have just communicated and i think that frustrated me the most because mira and lucien both want to be with each other but don’t want to be the ones admitting it.

okay so I liked the book..... but I couldn't get past the fact that they were 34?! and still so childish!!? like the conflict in this book good have been resolved so quickly if the two sat down and talked like the adults they were.

All in all, it was an enjoyable read. Definitely isn't a concept I haven't read before, but still a good take on the enemies-to-lovers and fake dating trope.

3/5 stars.

thank you NetGalley for providing me with an arc of this novel.

Fun story but just not for me.
I got through this story easily enough but it didn't really captivate me like other books in this genre. A little disappointing as this story sounded right in my wheelhouse. I would try more from this author.

Seriously good! This book was a fantastic romantic comedy. The characters were lovable, and I was so sad when it ended. I loved it!

This book was so cute! I appreciated the character arcs and I loved watching Lucien and Mira grow together. It was a fun and easy read and the book contained several of my favorite tropes. Hello, enemies to lovers! This was my first Sasha Clinton novel but I absolutely can't wait to read more.

I throughly enjoyed this novel. In fact, it’s one of the few lately that has held my attention throughout the entire story. While I could see a few things coming, I never felt like rushing though it. I would definitely recommend it to friends.

As a lover of enemies to lovers and even, somewhat, fake-dating tropes, I really wanted to fall for Lucien and Mira. I enjoyed the characters. I adored the conflict of their upbringings. I LOVE women in STEM and the fact that Mira was brilliant and capable and not the average romantic clod who is a hot mess falling all over the place while the hot rich doctor looks on in disdain. SHE was also a hot, brilliant doctor. The spice in this book was great! But in short supply compared to, what should have been appealing tension, but ultimately was immaturity and bullheadedness.

But what I loved about the book, was also it's barrier. I found it hard to suspend reality and see two 30 something physicians behaving this way!!! What is normally so charming about fake dating and enemies to lovers is the push and pull, the challenge in the relationship. But getting scolded by your boss for something that didn't occur and then mutually not speaking up for yourself? Allowing your coworkers to bully you into aspects of a relationship? Barging into someone elses event and absconding with the microphone? Ok narcissist. Their arguments and reactions are painfully selfish and childish and if you'd told me they were 17 and were in a volunteer program at the hospital, I wouldn't struggle to believe it.

If you're a fan of light, airy romance and can overlook some of the smaller things, this is a fun romance read. The dynamic between the characters is an enjoyable ping pong match of flirtation and insults and a dance of will they won't they, why isn't he, why hasn't she.

I was provided with an electronic ARC copy of Lucien and I by Sasha Clinton through Netgalley in return for an honest review. I appreciate the chance to read and review this title.

Loved every moment of this book!! The relationship between the main characters is like something most people dream about. Attention to detail was throughout the entire novel. I’ve recommended this book to all of my reading pals!

Honestly, I didn't feel the spark.
The book has multiple swoon-worthy moments, the smut and spice are good too but it doesn't sit right. No matter how many times Lucien says they have good chemistry I can't believe it. It feels repetitive. It's a nice book and I understand the romance but it feels like every amazing swoony thing is put together but isn't weaved right to make the reader feel something for the characters.
The miscommunication trope is fun but with them, it wasn't. It was just very heavy. Their banter also started to feel too much.

This enemies to lovers story follows Lucien and Mira who have been rivals since they were young. The fake dating trope is one that I particularly enjoyed and the hospital backdrop gave me serious Grey’s anatomy vibes. Although I found the first 100 pages a little hard going as things seemed to jump around somewhat, looking at the book as a whole I did really enjoy this steamy rom com.

Thank you so so very much to Sasha Clinton and her team for this ARC - I am so grateful!

MIRA -
I loved her. I loved her cultural background (the fact that she wasn’t just a flat, standard main character) and her familial issues associated somewhat with her culture was really something I learned as I read through this. Her academic achievement reliance I also thought was so well done and her reasons for hating Lucien were actually valid - unlike many tropes where the reasons are futile. The fact that she is a reader I adored - I don’t see it enough in books and thought it complemented her character well (as well as the spicy scenes coming with it). Nora’s relationship with her mother had good development as the story progresses as we learned more about it and the reasons behind her relationship or lack Theron, that aspect really did add a relatable aspect to her character.

LUCIEN -
Oh. My. Boy did I love him. The sarcasm and witty comments we’re seeing worthy and his longing for Mira was so undeniably hot. His familial progress and backstory wasn’t too far fetched which I loved also. The dual POV has my heart captured when I was reading - wanting to know what the other thought of the others actions. *spoiler (When Mira passed out and he was looking after her, my heart melted.)

TROPES -
The enemies to lovers was absolutely amazing. It was well reasoned and partnered so well with the fake dating included and academic rivals which I love so so much. The spice was so unexpected as I did not expect that level (but I was fooled by the cartoon cover, I must admit.) but it was throughly welcomed and enjoyed.

This was an enjoyable, enemies to lovers and fake dating rom- com with spice and character development equally. I rated it 3.75 and would totally reccomend to a friend and will be purchasing. Thank you!

This was a rom-com that I loved so much and I swear, is one of the best I’ve read so far! Lucien and Mira were such a cute, wonderful, hot couple to read and the love (and hate) they contained for each other was overwhelming in a good way. I honestly wish I could read more of them because I was squealing so much and smiling. This book was so book quote dump worthy! And the way that they got closer was really, really lovely and raunchy so someone help me because I will cry if I don’t have their kind of jam. Their friends were so fun too! The entire community of Lucien and Mira made me smile and laugh.

this book was cute and i liked the medical setting, but the writing was mediocre at best. i would recommend if you want a shallow easy rom com

This story reminded me very much of When Harry Met Sally, classic men and women can never be friends but then end up together by way of some conflict.

Mira and Lucien went to boarding school together, university, residency, and then a fellowship program at the same hospital. For 16 years, they have been in competition with each other, until a situation happens where they have to pretend to be in love. While fake dating each other, they come to realize that pride and insecurities have held them back from exploring a new kind of relationship together, one not fraught with angst and hatred.

The only thing I found a little tiresome was Mira constantly putting herself down and second guessing her actions and feelings (entire chapters sometimes being dedicated to explanations about why she was reacting in a certain way).

Overall, this was an entertaining read.

when i heard fake-dating and academic rivals i just knew that i had to read this book, unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations.

as much as i adore academic-rivals to lovers, lucien and mira being rivals for 16 years seemed a bit over the top. it also felt as if everything mira did she didn't really do it for herself but rather to be better than lucien and prove her mother wrong???

then there's also the fact that lucien is extremely rich while mira is poor, and he keeps talking about it and making fun of her for not wanting to use her money ???

i did however enjoy the last quarter of the book :)

rounded off : 2.5 stars

I love medical romcoms and this one was a quick read. It was entertaining but, I found the early banter and interactions between the MCs immature at times (they’re in their 30’s!). Lucien reveals something big about his past to Mira but the next day Mira acts like nothing happened. Umm, what?! Mira was a bit exasperating. I usually enjoy some push-pull but it was difficult to connect with the MCs until later.

There were some very funny parts. The fake flirting for one was so good! One of the patients, Mafia Tony turned out to be someone with a lot of substance and philosophical input into Mira’s love life. The way the fake dating was revealed is something I’ve never read about before.

I felt like it took a bit to get into but I once I got there, I was entertained. 😊

Not crazy about it, but it was a light read, not good but not horrible. It has some issues and the necessity of the FMC for validation from the opposite sex doesn’t kill me . But it was an ok read

Thank you NetGalley and Sasha Clinton for the arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.

When I saw this book compared to Grey’s Anatomy I just had to read it and I was oh so excited for it. Unfortunately the excitement dissipated pretty quickly. I wouldn’t say this book is like Grey’s except for the fact that it focuses on doctors. Grey’s has kept me interested for what 18 seasons now? I lost interest pretty quickly with this book.

I was really confused as to the lack of backstory between Lucien and Mira. It was difficult to grasp their dislike for each other and it felt forced at times. Between the the weird banter between the mcs regarding financial status and the continued mentioning of sleeping with people of legal age, I just felt uncomfortable and this couple just did not do it for me. Unfortunately I would not recommend this book.
