This is such an adorable cozy read. The characters are relatable and clever. I really enjoyed the plot twists. It kept the story fun to read. I didn't want to put it down.
This is the first book I read in this series and found it thoroughly enjoyable and well plotted.
The cast of characters is fleshed out and likeable, the mystery solid and kept me guessing.
i want t0 read the other books in this series.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
How I’ve missed Jordan and her friends! I was so excited to see that there was a new one in this series coming out after years of silence. It was so nice to reconnect with them and see that they are up to their old antics. This book was different from the others in that the murder didn’t happen until over halfway through the book, as if was an afterthought. Most of the book was setting the scene, which is fine, but it doesn’t really make much of a mystery when there isn’t anything to solve until the very end. Add in the implausible premise of all of them traveling to a casino so one of them can be a cook serving casseroles in a restaurant and you’ve stretched the limits of what I can believe will happen in real life. I am glad Jordan and company are back; I just hope that any future adventures are more like the older ones.
Jordan McAllister has a nose for trouble but a weekend road trip with The Gang - Michael, Victor, Ray, Lola and Rosie - turns out to be more than they expected. Their friend George, a chef in New York, is opening a new restaurant in a new casino and invites them to enjoy the grand opening event. Hence the road trip to Oklahoma. Rosie will showcase her yummy food and train his chef how to make mouth watering Mexican food. Dead bodies were not on the menu nor were a few broken hearts.
If you always want the body to show up by the end of the first chapter that won't happen in Enchi Lotta Bodies and that's not a bad thing. The first 75% (according to my Kindle) of the mystery is a well done buildup. We meet the casino cast, find out there are crooks up to no good, cheating spouses and we get to hang out with the Gang. Slowly the pace builds and, oh boy howdy do we get a slam bang ending.
This is a mystery with a wonderful cast of recurring characters and their friendship is strong as they support each other through everything that life throws at them. We should all be so lucky to have such people in our lives. After reading about all of the food I wish Rosie would cook for me, too.
