To put it bluntly, this is the way to do a junior comic. Yes it's silly, yes it has a daft plot involving animals, but boy doesn't it do it well. It's not brash in design and colouring, it's got the wit to make an adult laugh multiple times (even if a certain unlikeable dad-rock band is the subject of one of the gags) and it's all a joy. Our chameleon friend is more or less told to investigate a mysterious case, or his unusual working habits – such as taking his waistcoat of gadgets off so he can actually camouflage – will force his superiors to kick him out. We watch him vaguely stumble from knowing nothing into finding just what the mystery actually is – upon which the book takes a kind of well-meaning, workers'-rights socialist bent. But does it, like everything else, really well.

Here are copious puns to be had from the cast being animals, a story so well thought through it looks more like something Aardman Animations might patch together over years, as opposed to being just a Book One in a comic series (and afaik an off-shoot series), and nothing that makes it unreadable by anyone over the age of eight as so much on this same bookstore shelf might manage. I did initially (pun intended, I guess) think the amount of acronyms might P.M.O., but I was not at all peed off in the finish. Yes, the tractor beam gag was overdone, but this was well worth signing up for. Four and a half stars.

InvestiGators is a great series for young readers, deftly combining humor and the excitement of a secret agent story line. It's fairly tounge in cheek so it may also be entertaining for adults reading alongside their youngsters.

It's nice to see Chameleon getting her time in the spotlight! Rather, to get out of it, because Chameleon works best when no one sees her in the field. And no one can see her now since Chameleon is sent on what seems to be a snipe hunt when renovating an abandoned base. People in the town believe that the literal cornfield, owned by a sheep farmer, is the site for alien invasions. Chameleon investigates, and wonders why people fall asleep after seeing the aliens.

**I received an ebook copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my honest review**

Think Captain Underpants with less potty humor but still all the fun, puns, and creativity.

My kids have enjoyed the InvestiGators series. This is a fantastic spin-off featuring Agent Chameleon. Chameleon has the ability to become invisible(just him not his clothing or other items) but he's hampered by the rules and regulations of S.U.I.T. When he's sent on a special and vague mission in the field, he must prove himself worthy to be an agent.

This was a very enjoyable graphic novel that even had my adult self chuckling throughout. The artwork is well done and the characters are entertaining. There was just enough mystery to keep me wanting to read the next book. I'll be picking this series up for my InvestiGators and Dogman fans.

I recieved a free eARC of this book. Thank you for the opportunity to read it.

If kids like silly stories, reptiles, and bad puns, they'll enjoy this book. It's a cute graphic novel with a relatable chameleon protagonist that kids will like. Is it great literature? No. It it a great book for reluctant readers? Yes. Well done.

Although I thoroughly enjoy the storylines with Brash and Mango, it’s great to see the focus on other characters, especially Cilantro. Cilantro is very deserving of her own storyline which plays well to her strengths. Just because she has a different manner of accomplishing things does not mean that it is the wrong way. There are great lessons and messages geared toward children, and the storyline is engaging and funny along the way. Thank you to NetGalley, First Second Books and John Patrick Green for the opportunity to review this ARC. Looking forward to what’s next for Cilantro.

My 8.5 year old absolutely adores the Investigators series and this instalment was no different! 5 stars from him :)
Agents of SUIT is hilarious and full of puns, very fun to read aloud as a family. If you have a child who loves graphic novels and comics, make sure to check this one out!

Thank you to First Second Books and NetGalley for this ARC!

Our family has loved the InvestiGators series since the start so we were thrilled to find out there was a spin-off series. We absolutely loved this book and loved that Mango and Brash make an appearance. This was so much fun to read-aloud and we can't wait for more.

A great addition to this collection that expands the story and will appeal to young readers. We ended up purchasing this book because it's hard to do a pre-read of a graphic novel like this - the image quality suffered - but the story was great and my son can't wait for the next installation.

Cilantro has finished her first case all by herself and put away a condiment thief, but she is having trouble balancing her natural talents and S.U.I.T. regulations (like wearing a V.E.S.T. that kind of defeats the purpose of going invisible). Her newest assignment is in the field with Monocle as support. They are in a cornfield where crop circles have been popping up lately. Can they figure out who is making the circles?

Shhh. Don’t tell Mango and Brash but I think I liked this spinoff better than any of the InvestiGators graphic novels. Some of the lines actually made me laugh out loud. Yes, there are still some groan-worthy puns too, and Mango and Brash appear several times, but Cilantro is in the spotlight. The plot was a good combination of mystery, scifi elements, self-actualization for Cilantro, and humor. And I really enjoyed the fun twist they did with crop circle mysteries. Hand this to InvestiGator fans as well as spy story/scifi/humor fans.

Notes on content [based on the ARC]: No language issues. No sexual content. There’s an alien invasion but they are just mind-controlling and not violent.

I received an ARC of this title from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

My review
Today I read Investigators: Agent of
S.U.I.T. and I want to tell you all
about it. I think it is for 7 to 10 year
olds because it is a comic so it is
very easy to read. I would give it a 4
and a half review because when
you like books, you are more used
to books which are black with lots of
words not colourful not so full of
words books. I also think most
people should read Investigators
first because it helps you
understand the context more. But
still, after you have read
Investigators, you should read
Agent of S.U.I.T. What happens is
Cilantro, fellow chameleon, is a field

agent and has a task to do. Get
ready for giggles! I think we should
all read Agent of S.U.I.T. Thank you
for reading. :D

I have lots of middle grades students in my library who are huge fans of the Investigators series, and will be happy to have another spin-off. I think you have to be a kid to enjoy this one, as it wasn't very interesting to me, but I know it will be popular.

A few times in the series the agent mentions the gators, or they make a cameo. It felt a bit disjointed in those parts but that will help kids connect to the previous books.

I really liked this book and think kids will love it! The puns are great and the storyline is entertaining. Looking forward to more from John Patrick Green!

My kids are a huge fan of Themis series. They absolutely geeked out about getting to read this before it was released. They fought over it an devoured it so quickly. If you have a child who enjoys dog man, cat kid, big Nate, this is a series for them!

Thank you netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

I like the use of the chameleon as the main character having trouble wearing their V.E.S.T. because it wouldn't color change. This is something that would bother me in other books where clothing would magically disappear for characters with invisibility powers. The book had a lot of inside jokes from other movies, TV shows, etc., which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the second half of the book felt a bit long to me. Maybe it was getting stretched to fill a certain number of pages, but if not, I think it could have been thinned down a bit.

Newly dubbed Agent Cilantro is a new Field Agent, literally in a corn field. She's been sent to discover what is going on with the sudden appearance of multiple crop circles. The InvestiGATORS do make appearances in this book, but this is Cilantro's story. After getting vague instructions from Inspector Vague, she's working with Monocle to fix up the hideout while trying not to get abducted.. This is a solid tale, that actually goes on further to discuss how to speak up when something isn't right. It's full of puns and there is at least one meme reference in the artwork so adults will enjoy this title as well. Where InvestiGATORS has been popular, be sure to grab this one. Knowledge of the previous series is not required but it is helpful.

Cilantro, a new agent of S.U.I.T., is having some trouble fitting in as a field agent in the city. All agents must wear a V.E.S.T., but if she does, she can't become invisible--her natural ability. So the General Inspector sends her to the Other Department.

The new field assignment? A corn field, investigating crop circles and opening an old secret office there. Cilantro's new partner? Monocle, a girl floating around in a contact-shaped glass disk with computers and who knew what? Monocle is focused on other things, so Cilantro is on her own.

The first problem? The witness doesn't remember what happened. Sure, it was less to go on than they hoped, but maybe the local sheepherder, Milford, a cat with a large mustache, could help.

I think you'll enjoy this adventure, it's a lot of fun, full of puns and occasional cultural references, and has some surprise "visitors." Just watch where you step. The crop circles are pretty important.

4/5

Both my sons and I are fans of this series so when I told them we received an ARC copy, they jumped up and down and hugged me to thank me! Then they stole my Ipad and wouldn't let give it back until they were done. I think we can say it was a success!

They say that:
- it was a very really good book
- it was great to see the other agent for once and the little cameo made them laugh!
- they love that they always break the fourth wall
- they enjoyed getting to see so many different animals instead of just Brash and Mango in this story and that the
ending was shocking but really good. They can't wait to see what's next!

We'll get a physical copy to add to our shelves and I'm sure they'll reread it as much as they do with the previous books!

I enjoyed this about as much as I expected. I know kids are going to be thrilled for more books in the InvestiGators universe.

For Libraries: If InvestiGators is a hit, you will need this one.

My daughter loved, absolutely loved all her InvestiGators books - she has read them all! This one was no different, she loved it. She was sooo happy, absolutely over the moon, when I gave her my tablet with the book open in it and told her I have a surprise for her. She laughed out loud, she giggled, and she smiled all while reading it. I am sure this book will bring so many fun moments to other kids also!
When she was done with the book, I read it also. The drawings are super nice, the text is fun, this is just the perfect addition to the older investigator series. Loved it, I loved it also.
At the end there are tutorials on how to draw characters from the book – that is a lovely and fun addition!
