A necessity for the writer's arsenal of inspiration and instruction. Julia Cameron never fails to deliver when it comes to make life as a writer feel possible and also necessary. It's a calling, and she shows how to follow it. Will definitely share with my writer friends. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC!

I enjoyed reading this book and found it practical and easy to follow. Julia Cameron writes to not just the accomplished writer but also the beginner. I have started “morning pages” and actually look forward to it daily. I would recommend this to anyone needing a little extra nudge to expand their creativity or writing of any kind. Easy to follow and full of anecdotes.

I really found great value in this book. The tools I’ve learned within these pages are ones I’ll actually use (I’ve already started with some) and I’ve absolutely been writing more.

Ms. Cameron, to paraphrase Chef Gusteau (from Ratatouille) believes anyone can write, and her program is both encouraging and supportive. There is so much here - all of it helpful and useful.

Highly recommended (as are her previous works).

I think Julia Cameron can help me achieve anything, except weight loss.
She set the bar so high with Artist's Way that it is difficult for her to top it. That said, I have putchased many copies of all of her books. I have gifted mny and I read and read others.
This book is wonderful if you don't yet think of yourself as a writer. She will convince you that you are and that your story is worth telling.
This book is wonderful for any creative or imaginatve endeavor.
But I have to say - check out her older works as well!
Connect with others using her methods.
A wonderfu and encouraging step by step process.

I read Cameron's The Artist's Way years ago and implemented many of her suggestions. Years passed and some of those writing habits dropped away. I was happy to find this new book by her. It is a good combination of instruction on her writing suggestions as well as an enlightening account of her personal writing life.

Cameron believes anyone can write and she encourages us to put pen to paper. She reminds us of Morning Pages and how they release writing. She provides a six week writing practice illustrated with personal stories. She helps us create writing habits and instill a writing routine. She has tips on how to grab time to write.

Cameron loves to write and encourage others to write. She covers real issues facing writers in this honest yet inspiring book. She shares her own ideas for when the slate is blank and there is no inspiration. She helps us in writing the draft, editing, rewriting, getting feedback, polishing, and knowing when the work is finished.

I recommend this book to seasoned writers as well as aspiring ones. Seasoned writers will get a shot in the arm and aspiring writers will gain instruction and encouragement. Read Cameron's latest book and again be challenged to risk authenticity in your writing.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

This is a book about Julia Cameron’s love for writing. She shares what she has learned over the years and introduces a six-week program that is set up to inspire with tasks and a weekly action plan.

Why six weeks? It’s a starting point to encourage people to be creative. Readers are given an assignment to write “Morning Pages,” take daily walks and embrace spiritual practices which opens up the mind to form new ideas to put on paper.

She encourages readers to write every day in a long-hand form without the distraction of the media devices. While a lot of well-known authors are known to do this, I’m not sure this strategy will work with the new generation of adults who think and write on the keyboard with a phone within reach.

Julia Cameron is known for her prized publication, “The Artist Way.” She has inspired many that are stuck to get back in the program and renew their craft. This book includes similar wisdom and tips that may work for many types of fields. She includes several quotes from other writers. My favorite is from Mark Twain who said, “write what you know.” Clearly, her goal is to motivate those that are mostly beginners with simple writing exercises from her personal experiences. She said, “prayer works” which may not resonate with all readers.

My thanks to Julia Cameron, St. Martin’s Essentials and NetGalley for allowing me to read this advanced copy with the expected release date of January 10, 2023.

Thanks to St. Martin's And NetGalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of Julia Cameron's Write for Life. I am a devotee of Ms. Cameron's work and this latest book may turn out to be the nudge I've been needing!

Had I not read most of Ms. Cameron's previous books on writing, this would be a 5 star book. I'll still recommend it to writers searching for writing advice, along with the Artists Way.
For a seasoned reader of Ms. Cameron's, I'd probably suggest they pass on it. Much of it was anecdotes, much of it read as an advertisement for the Artists Way and Morning Pages. I started skipping the little passages of So and So said the Writing Pages helped me: Get Published, Stop Procrastinating, etc.
Still, a few fresh nuggets to ponder...do writers choose crazy/drama relationships in order to procrastinate or avoid writing? And the revision process outline at the very end (I'd have loved more information regarding that, along with an example pictured of what the revision outlines might look like.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me the honor of being an early reader!
