Doller has her own distinct writing. This book was full of cutesy, "aww" moments, in a foreign country. I love the way her main characters may find love, but first and foremost come to find and learn more about themselves.
I really loved Float plan, but I feel like this series has gotten progressively worse. This one just really wasn’t for me and I was pretty bored with the lack of character development. Thank you netgalley for my free review copy.
Carla Black has grown up following the lifestyle she learned from her dad – traveling the world in her vintage Jeep, following his motto of, “Here for a good time, not for a long time.” Her dad was diagnosed with dementia several years ago, but at his insistence, she continues traveling. Now she is headed to Ireland for her best friend’s wedding. Eamon Sullivan works as a cartographer but is unhappy with his job, wishing he could travel to some of the places he maps out. When Eamon is asked to pick Carla up in Dublin and drive her across Ireland to his brother’s wedding, the two take some detours, exploring their chemistry and the Irish countryside.
This is the third book of the Beck sister series but can be easily read as a standalone. My favorite part of this book was the time Carla spent with her dad. Carla and Eamon had insta-love, and then it seemed like it was just lucky that they both had personalities that could help where the other person needed to grow and both desire to travel the world. While it was nice not to see a couple struggle as much as some romance books do, I felt like it made the reader that much less invested in their relationship. This was an enjoyable book but likely won’t be one that sticks out in my mind.
Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book.
I loved this book! It's well-written, enjoyable, and a great read. The author did a great job of writing in a way that captures the readers attention, and makes you not want to put it down until you're finished! I would highly recommend it!
Thank you for a review copy of this book. I went into this book completely blind and I am glad I did! This book was soooo good. I had a lot of laugh out aloud moments as well as moments that brought tears to my eyes. Both characters were so well suited to each other. I enjoyed the writing as well as the pacing of the story. Overall, a very enjoyable read! I can't wait to read more books by this author.
A lovely send off to the Beck sisters series! This one is absolutely instalove, but it's so well done that I don't even mind. I loved getting to see Ireland with Carla, and Eamon is just dreamy.
Plus, it's Trish Doller. So you know it's going to be well written and thought out.
Thank you NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. I read the other books in this series and enjoyed them all. This book continued the theme of the love of travel that began in Float Plan and The Suite Spot, as well as the importance of family and friends. All three books really conveyed the fun of travel and the way it can expand your world, and they all also featured strong romantic relationships. In each book, the main female character has to figure out what is most important to her, and then work towards the life she wants. I loved all the characters in Off the Map and feel like it’s just a matter of going into the right restaurant/bar in Fort Lauderdale to see one of the Beck sisters and their friend Carla. I strongly recommend this book if you are looking for a book that deals with serious topics but is still light and fun to read.
I am such a big fan of Trish Doller. Her stories are always so heartwarming, cute, and feel like a big hug. Off the Map was no different and did not disappoint! I loved the spice, characters, and sense of adventure. A quick read that gave me exactly what I was expecting and wanted.
I liked this one! It was enjoyable but wasn't a top read for me. It could have been a bit more developed, but overall still a cute book!
Thank you NetGalley and Trish Doller!
I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.
I really deeply connected with these characters and particularly Carla in terms of her freewheeling nomadic nature that hides a need to eventually find her place and someone who understands her. I loved how the romance starts off with a bang -- not the slow build-up you usually see in this genre -- but then takes a step back and DOES in fact build up slowly. It was very well crafted and managed to pull this off without losing any of the romantic tension necessary to pull the reader along. My favorite part by far was the "dancing by the moonlight" -- a song I'll now forever associate with this book -- and the connection between Carla and her dad and their music together.
I love the vagabond feel of this book. How she doesn't need anyone but her Jeep and the open road, but oh no - what's that? Love? Do I really need that? YES she does. This book was great and I look forward to more from Doller.
This was firmly middle of the road for me - it almost felt underdeveloped - like if it had gone through a few more iterations it just would have worked better. What really worked for me was Carla and Eamon's chemistry - right off the bat they just had sparks! On the other hand, the entire story about Carla's father felt underdeveloped and half baked. It felt like an after thought. I also just don't think there was enough plot here - it got boring in the middle and then rushed through the story at the end. The pacing was off and really didn't serve the characters well.
This was a delightful travel romance. I really appreciated the layers of the story: yes, it’s a travel-themed romance, but it’s also a coming-of-age-in-adulthood story and a tale about father-daughter relationships and an exploration of found family. While I didn’t feel as attached as I did when reading Float Plan, I’d still definitely recommend it—even if it will make you want to grab your passport and a plane ticket!
Thank you St. Martin's Griffin and NetGalley for the eARC of Off The Map! All opinions in this review are my own.
Despite being a shorter read, Off The Map is able to pack in a lot of emotions. While Carla does make some questionable decisions at times, it was really fun to travel around Ireland with her and Eamon. Off The Map does take a very heavy turn in the second and gets very emotional. Based on the beginning, I wasn't expecting it but it did make me like the book even more. I just wish the ending wasn't so rushed. This book is less than 300 pages and the events at the end could have been spaced out a little farther.
I've only read two out of the three Beck Sister novels but I have really enjoyed this series! I still need to read the first one but I'm sad to see it end!
I honestly requested this book because I liked the cover, but the story itself didn't keep my attention, unfortunately. As I often write, i have to be in a certain mood to read certain books, and when I read this book, I apparently wasn't in the proper mood. With that being said, it is not a bad book, and I am open to rereading it again in the future. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting access to this book in exchange for my honest review!

3.5 Stars - I love Trish Doller. I'll read anything she writes! This was another cute addition to the Beck Sisters series. It was a quick, mostly light hearted (although a bit sad in one part), and sweet. Just like the other two books in this series. I loved the chemistry and friendship between Carla and Eamon.
Float plan was one of my favorite romances and so I was thrilled to read this one as well. It did not disappoint, and while the tropical setting of float plan has my heart, this was another solid romance with swoonworthy leads and great romance writing!
Carla and Eamon meet at an Irish pub as they are to travel together for a wedding. The bride is Carla's best friend, the groom is Eamon's brother. A connection blooms into sparks as the two characters start to fall for each other. The story is somewhat of an insta love, which I usually end up rolling my eyes over, but I feel like the side characters and secondary characters bring more humor and comedic relief to the story to fix that.
I enjoyed this story and the characters.
Writing this with dried tears on my cheeks from MSY airport (did anyone notice that Ive been crying for the last 20 minutes?)… if you enjoy reading a good rom com, you have to dive into Off the Map when it comes out. I’ve enjoyed the authors previous two books, Float Plan and The Suite Spot, but Off the Map has done it for me. By far, my favorite book of 2022 and 2023!
Thank you Trish! Thank you St. Martins Griifin! Thank you Netgalley.
