Carla, someone who travels all around the world goes to Ireland for her friends wedding where she meets the best man, Eamon, someone who stays doesn’t venture far from home, making maps for a living. They meet after her flight lands then they trek around Ireland detouring on the way to the wedding going to off the map places- yes we do find out why that car is upturned on the cover and is just one of the many situations they get in to on their insta love adventure.
And that’s where I wasn’t feeling it. The insta love just didn’t work for me. I love the setting of Ireland and the fact that Carla grew up going to National Parks collecting cancellation stamps (I do that too!). The last 30% had substantial substance that had me teary eyed at one point and was the best part of the book.
I loved Float Plan so much but the subsequent books in the Beck Sisters series just isn’t for me. I did appreciate the fact of the parallel that Carla’s friend Anna in Float Plan travels the world by boat on the sea and Carla travels the world by her Jeep on land, and they did each dealt with the loss of a loved one.

“𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦.”
Carla has spent most of her life traveling around the world. It’s a love that was instilled in her by her father, Biggie, whom she looks up to. With Biggie’s dementia progressing, he insists she continues travelling rather than be stuck by his side. She lands in Dublin to attend her friend’s wedding where she meets Eamon, the groom’s brother. They’re supposed to travel to the wedding together but are immediately sidetracked by insta-lust, and Eamon’s fascination with Carla’s lifestyle. Inspired by her, he decides he wants a break from his steady, monotonous life. With Carla’s encouragement they take some detours on the way to the wedding.
The insta-lust was very hot and worked for me here because Carla and Eamon develop a genuine connection where they’re both openly vulnerable. The story delved deep into the characters’ souls, pulling out truths they’ve never shared aloud with anyone. It’s new and scary for Carla who’s used to being constantly on the move and flying solo. She and Eamon have something worth her sticking around for and exploring. It’s a privilege to witness Carla’s “aha” moments recalling sweet memories with Biggie, and the life lessons he taught her, as she considers how her once rigid narrative is allowing room for more than just herself.
I read Doller’s, 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 many years ago, and had loved it. This story snuck up on me. It’s tender, bittersweet, romantic, and deeply introspective. It’s the kind of impactful story that finds a home in your heart.

I absolutely loved Trish Dollers first novel in the Beck sister series: FLOAT PLAN. Unfortunately, this third book in the series - OFF THE MAP did not meet my expectations.
OFF THE MAP felt like it was written by an entirely different author. There was so much steam + sex almost immediately from the get go. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good dose of steam in my reading, but in this case I felt it detracted from the story.
I’m personally not a fan of the insta love trope so that didn’t work for me either in addition to the resolution feeling like it came out of no where without any real work being done by the characters.
While I loved the idea of this book I just felt the execution was lacking. I would have preferred much more travel adventure, character development and a lot less of the physical intimacy.

I'm so torn on this one! I wasn't overly into the fling aspect of the romance, but everything else was wonderful. It follows maid of honour Carla and best man Eamon on their trek in Ireland, beginning in Dublin and ending in Tralee for Anna and Keane's wedding. The perfect setting!
With their fun detours along the way, I truly loved these characters. Carla is described by Eamon as having the tactfulness of a machete, and that is hilariously exact. I loved her free spirit. But the romance was very fast paced—the declarations of love arrived uncomfortably early, at least for me.
With that said, I love Trish Doller's writing. There was such an addictive quality to the story. I flew through it. I especially loved the heartfelt relationship Carla shared with her dad. You might need some tissues!
I tried reading this one but ended up not finishing it. I didn’t like the instalove between the two main characters and it seemed way to unrealistic to have their connection be that perfect. I’m really disappointed as I was looking forward to reading this but I couldn’t force myself to continue reading
Stop reading now and just look at my rating if you don't want spoilers, because I'm not sure how to give an honest review without them.
First, I loved the first two books in this series. I found the dialogue witty and fun, and they were pure escapist fiction When this one became available, I eagerly requested and did a little happy squeal when I was approved. Unfortunately, that's where my happiness ended.
After flying from Florida to Ireland for her best friend's wedding, Carla immediately meets up with Eamon at the airport. Although it's not a "cold meet", because he is the brother of her best friend's fiancé, what could be a meet cute ends up as a what-in-the-world-is-going-on-here situation after Carla goes home with him, takes a shower to get rid of her travel funk, and spends the night with Eamon. Okay. I'm not a prude. Sex and an overnight with a virtual stranger. Fine. But then Carla decides the next day that, because she doesn't feel that Eamon has been adventurous enough in the past, she's going to delay going to meet her BEST FRIEND FOR HER WEDDING and go camping with a guy she met approximately eighteen hours before. Okay, I'm on the edge at this point, but, when she allows Eamon, again a guy she's known for less than a full day, to take nude pics of her in the woods, I couldn't take it anymore. I love a good rom-com, but come on. I need at least a little bit of realism, and this one just isn't for me.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC.
Man, Trish Doller’s books just keep getting better and better. Really wasn’t expecting so many tears today.
Carla and Eamon were both very likable. It was refreshing to read a romance that doesn’t have a build up moment and the characters dive directly into it. I feel like that’s more realistic at times.
I’d really like to travel around the world like Carla does, and be that carefree, but alas, life gets in the way.
Such a great, heartfelt story.
Another enjoyable romance from Trish Doller! This is the third in a loosely linked series though you can read them all as stand-alones. Float Plan is about Anna, The Suite Spot is about Anna’s sister Rachel, and this one is about Anna’s best friend Carla. The premise is that Carla is traveling to Ireland to be the maid of honor at Anna’s wedding, where Eamon, the groom’s brother and best man is going to drive her to the countryside for their wedding. Their trip turns into a series of adventures, and of course they fall for each other as well.
Carla and Eamon’s relationship was a tad on the insta-love side, which sometimes irks me but yet I felt it worked here. Though perhaps it would better be described as insta-lust - warning, this book is much steamier than the other two! Anyway, I enjoyed Carla and Eamon’s journey - both their literal journey that made me want to visit Ireland and their metaphorical journey as characters, as Carla encourages Eamon to be more free and follow his desire to travel, and Eamon slowly makes Carla realize that she doesn’t always have to run away from feelings which her lifetime of travel with her dad and on her own taught her to do. And there is a seriousness to it as well, as Carla is also grappling with her dad’s decline from early Alzheimer’s.
Anyway, if you enjoyed the first two books in this series, you should enjoy this one too! And if you haven’t but you enjoy loosely linked romance series like Jasmine Guillory’s, give this one a try.
Carla lives her life to travel, doing her job only to fund her travel. When she heads to Ireland for her friend Anna's wedding, she meets Eamon, the groom's brother, who is supposed to drive her to the wedding destination. However, along the way, they decide to take detours and forge a bond that scares Carla.
I think the first part of this book felt strange. It felt irresponsible for the characters to be ditching the pre-wedding activities on purpose and made me annoyed at them. I think it would have been more successful if it was a series of unfortunate events that unexpectedly delayed them. The part where Carla goes home to be with her dad I thought was more successful. Overall, a decent romcom. If you liked the previous two in this series, you will like this one.

I’m not really sure anymore what to say about Trish Doller’s books. It’s no secret that I have been a fan since Trish’s YA days so it is harder and harder to describe why I love everything she writes so much, but I’m going to try with Off the Map because it was AMAZING. Eamon Sullivan is the absolute best character she has written in a long time and I’m kind of obsessed with him. Having been introduced to him in Float Plan I was really excited to learn more about one of the Sullivan siblings and Trish delivered with Eamon. Not to mention how awesome he was with Carla. From the second they met they had a spark that they were unable to deny. They both had things they were working through, Carla with a sick parent and the effect that has on her life, and Eamon just unhappy with his job and life. But as they travel to Anna and Keane’s wedding they got to know each other and also got to know that you don;t have to be unhappy and that it’s okay to settle down if you find the right one. Basically you need to read this book, better yet, this series, if you haven’t! This is a must read for sure.
I was very excited to read Off the Map after reading other titles in the Beck Sisters series. Was this my favorite from the series, no, but would I read it again... probably. It was enjoyable, lots of spice (which was different from the other titles in the series but I didn't mind), felt a bit disorganized at times (but that kinda felt in tune with what the book was about). The heart of it for me wasn't the love story between Carla and Eamon, which was quite enjoyable even though insta love isn't really for me, it was the love between Carla and her father Biggie who is suffering from dementia. I felt like the first 2/3 of the book was enjoyable enough, but the last 1/3 was a punch in the gut and reminder that grief happens, life happens, it's how to handle that grief that will make or break you sometimes. As a person who has had family members who had dementia, but wasn't living near them when they were going through that period of their life, it really hit me hard with how my own family had to handle it and broke my heart all over again.

First off, this MC sounds like she’s taking thoughts straight from my head…there are many jokes and comments that I would’ve said word for word in this one so I was entertained. This is the third in this series but also stands finely on its own. Happy to back with a familiar and lovable cast of characters, with many potential options for further spin-offs! Go off roading across Ireland and the world in this one — it’s a quick and pleasant read with a few heavy moments. I generally dislike instant love stories but this was more instant infatuation and maybe because we knew some of the other characters already, it worked here. Really into this author’s writing style.
This book was like a warm hug with so many incredible life lessons woven through. I picked this up and read right through. I always love Irish dialogue too, it may be a favorite of mine, which made me love this even more.
This was a quick read with the best messages. Carla decided after being abandoned by her mom at a young age and growing up with her dad who loved to travel the world that she was only going to live her life moving forward, never looking back, never having regrets and being present in the moment always.
When she finds out the one person that’s been a constant in her life has dementia and is slowly going to forget who she is, she takes off on an adventure never looking back. She stops in Ireland for her best friends wedding only to meet Eamon, the best man and they have an instant connection.
Carla shows Eamon he can step outside of his structured life and live a little and he tries to show Carla that sometimes people are willing to catch you and keep you without changing who you are. Even though this was an insta love their chemistry and banter and their adventures were wonderful and had me smiling the entire time.

Four and a half hot and spice romcom stars for Off The Map. Short read and perfect for an afternoon or traveling. I laughed (bantering/silliness), I smiled with slight tears (father has dementia). The characters had strength, pride, loyalty, responsibility, kindness, and passion. Maid of honor and best man meet prior to the wedding and have a spark on hello. The next few days are filled with passion, camping, and falling…love was not on the itinerary.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for ARC read in exchange for my review!
Carla's been wandering the world and Eamon has been a steady one at home - and sparks fly when they meet at a wedding in Eamon's native Ireland. So many sparks that readers should know that this gets quite steamy very quickly (I was surprised to be honest how fast that happened!). They do however build a relationship as Carla convinces Eamon to follow his dream of wold camping and driving his Land Rover Defender off road (there's a great scene with a bull). She's got big worries, though, about her Dad, who is slowing fading from Alzheimer's making this a little more serious in spots. Very much a classic rom com but the characters and the setting are good. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. Yes, this is part of a series (sort of) but you don't need to have read the earlier books (but they're fun)to enjoy this one.
Off the Map by Trish Doller is a rom com that takes place around the world. The travel adventures and stories were my favorite part of this book. The romance itself was my least favorite— the characters immediately got together and there was no actual romance. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
Thank you so much to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is only my second Trish Doller book but both of them have been outstanding books. Off the map follows free spirit and world traveler, Carla on a trip to Ireland for her best friend's wedding. When she gets there she meets buttoned up tech manager, Eamon. While the romance is incredible and moving- the heartstrings really get yanked around as Carla starts looking at her life philosophy (Here for a good time- not for a long time) and reassessing what is really important in this world. Carla's father, Biggie, has honorary main character rights in this book because he is such a huge presence. Watching these two characters grow and learn and decide what they want in life is beautiful and eye opening. You might walk away after reading it and decide that the pull of wanderlust is too strong. I currently have another tab open looking at flights.
This book is a book of love stories, not a romance. Carla and her love for Biggie, Carla and her love of friendships, Carla and her love of found family. Eamon was just the love story bow on top.
This book was like a romantic travel guide. The descriptions, adventures & detours made it more cinematic. I adored how well Carla & Eamon got comfortable with each other so quickly. But the insta-love was way too faster than my expectations or liking.
The second half of the book has a more serious tone to it & some moments gave me a heartache. Honestly, I felt like the book finished very quickly & the romance didn't have that much depth for me as the other books by Trish. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this one & as usual, Trish's writing was amazing.
<i>Thank you Netgalley & Publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review.<i>
This is definitely my fav in the series! Maybe cause it had a bit more spice and a bit earlier on in the story? 🙃
Off the Map is the 3rd book in the Beck Sisters series, but could definitely be read as a stand-alone. I am glad I read the whole series though, I enjoyed all the books!

🌶️🌶️ (but not super detailed)
Carla Black is headed to be the maid of honor at her best friend Anna’s wedding in Ireland. The best man & groom’s brother, Eamon Sullivan, is meant to pick her up at the airport. He texts to meet him at a local bar.
Eamon walks in while Carla is being hit on, and she grabs him and kisses him. Their chemistry is immediate. They are alike & looking for the same thing - no strings, just fun. But sometimes you don’t know what you’re looking for until you find it….
This book isn’t just a romance. It’s a story of self discovery and overcoming parental expectations, or what we THINK others want from us. Of finding who you’re meant to be, and what’s important to you.
Read if you enjoy:
⭐️ Insta-connection/attraction
⭐️ “I don’t do relationships” for both MCs
⭐️ Fated mates
⭐️ Road trip/adventure
⭐️ Self discovery
⭐️ Single POV (Carla’s)
I read this on ebook & also listened to the audiobook (back and forth) - both were great!
Thank you so much to NetGalley, Audio, and St. Martin’s Press for an advanced copy to review! All opinions are my own.
Such a smooth read - seriously you can just sit back and let this story wash over you. The characters had great banter and the pacing was perfect.
Carla is always travelling, and now she's headed to Ireland for her best friend's wedding. She hooks up with the groom and they decide to make a road trip out of the journey north for the festivities.
Carla's backstory is interesting and compelling, her dad has dementia and going back to see him has been tricky for her. Eamon's backstory was a little less necessary. He's boxed into a corner because he was a side character in other books; there just isn't room for a more interesting backstory for him. I just didn't buy it, and I didn't think we needed it in order for him to be a great character. (Because he was! I really liked him.) People just are who they are sometimes, we don't always need justification.
This book was great, though and it made my cry. It's sexy, sweet and really hilarious in parts.
