I really loved the third installment in this series….and I haven’t even read the other two, despite having them on my shelf! Note: it makes no difference, as each story is self contained. I loved Eamon and Carla’s love story, and I really loved Carla’s love story with her father. The trauma she felt from his dementia diagnosis as well as the latent trauma from being abandoned by her mother at age 5 was apparent in her actions as an adult…but her vulnerability, kindness, and warm heart were the center of the novel. And Eamon is just wonderful. I liked that this was a steamy romance with substance, and I think it will appeal to many readers!
Is there a road map to love, or do you go "Off the Map to find love?"
I am a HUGE fan of Doller, and this series - Beck Sisters #3. Carla has only known the open road, never settling long enough for feelings. Her world has been one adventure after another since the age of five. Her father, "Biggie," has recently taken sick and told her to keep going on without him. Terrified to see him waste away to dementia, she does exactly as he requests.
Carla pauses her travels to head to Ireland for Anna's wedding. En route, she gets detoured by Eamon, Keane's best man. Read book #1, Float Plan for more on this couple. Together, they embark on a road trip across Ireland making their way to serve as a bridesmaid and a groomsmen.
This insta=love story is simply fantastic, and their chemistry HOT. I throughly enjoy Doller's ability to find moments of heartbreak and joy in a romance novel.
Let's all tip back a glass on Sangria in a vintage concert tee as we read another winning novel by Trish Doller.
Thank you St. Martins Press for the complimentary copy of this novel.
Ultimately I think the book was rushed. The relationship was rushed, the reconnection with the dad was rushed, the ending was rushed; each aspect needed more time to be believable.
That said, I enjoy this story, but I think it could have been a lot better.
I received an advanced copy. All thoughts are my own.
Trish Doller delivers a strong finish (I’m assuming) to the Beck Sisters series. This can easily be a stand alone novel. Carla Black has been traveling the world for years in a vintage Jeep Wrangler her father gave her. When she needs money she returns to Florida and tends bar at a touristy pirate themed bar. It is there where she met her best Anna. And now Carla is arriving in Ireland for the wedding of Anna Beck and Keane (Float Plan Mar 2021).
Keane’s brother Eamon Sullivan meets Carla and is supposed to bring her the wedding which is across Ireland. But as the two get to know each other they decide to detour for a day or two. Eamon was always the responsible brother but has dreams of being a wanderer. Upon learning the first place he’d like to visit is only an hour away Carla insists they go. What follows is a lovely adventure walking in the heather and enjoying the beauty of Ireland. I may have been drooling at the thought.
Carla is wonderful as the experienced traveler helping him get his bearings. She is drawn to him but knows she is only there for a few days. But that doesn’t mean they can’t have a vacation fling, preferable without feelings. Of course easier said than done. I was surprised at how quickly they get intimate but it works for the time pressure they have. I love the descriptions of the beautiful countryside and long to walk past grazing sheep.
All three of the books in the series cover some more series issues. In this one Carla’s father has dementia. She keeps in touch with calls and video chats but she’s avoided going home for years. Her dad is who gave her the love of travel and a lot of her experiences are tributes to him. But she is realizing her next adventure may have to take her home.
I really liked this book, first because in my fantasy other life I would be a wanderer. I love Eamon and Carla’s adventures and her realizing he needs a couple days adventure. I love the focus on family and to me Anna as a BF is family too. This is a sweet novel, with likable characters, passion and heart. It is my favorite of the series.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for a review.
Off The Map by Trish Doller is a sweet insta lust, opposites attract road trip romance.
Carla Black spends her time traveling the world with no time for love, meets Eamon Sullivan who creates digital maps and is unhappy with his life. Eamon picks Carla up in Dublin to take Carla to her best friend’s wedding. Carla and Eamon take the long way to the wedding.
This is a beautiful emotional story of love, and where life takes you. The chemistry between Carla and Eamon is hot from the start. They find answers to their future in each other and throughout their travels. There is a sad part dealing with Alzheimer’s and caring for someone with memory loss. This story is told first person through Carla only. This was the first book I have read from Trish Doller, and I was not disappointed. I did not realize this was the third book of The Beck Sisters series. This story can definitely be read as a standalone. Great combination of love and adventure.
4/5
I want to thank Trish Doller, St. Martin’s press, and Netgalley for the ARC.

Off the Map is the third book in the Beck Sisters series.
I loved the first two books in this series. However this one was a bit different as it did not feature a Beck Sister. This book is Carla's story (Anna from Float Plan's best friend).
The first and second halves of this book were very different.
What did I like? I loved seeing Anna and Keane in this book. I loved the Irish setting. I enjoyed how emotional the parts to do with Carla's father were. And I did like Carla and Eamon. However I don't really like when characters just have sex without knowing each other at all. And that made me feel a bit disconnected from the first half of the story.
The last part of the book was so much deeper and more emotional. And this made me feel a lot. Carla's dad suffers from dementia. And this was just so difficult to read.
Overall the setting in Ireland is perfect for when this book comes out. And if you liked Float Plan you will love seeing those characters again.
I want to thank netgalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for my honest review.
Carla is losing her dad to dementia. Her Dad, “biggie” has her promise to keep traveling the world. He doesn’t want her sticking around while he loses who he is.
She travels to Ireland for her best friend’s wedding where the best man, Eamon, is picking her up from the airport.
From there it’s insta love, exploring, some losses and gains.
Insta love and cinnamon roll guys are usually not my favorite troupe. But this story was lovely, maybe because I lost my dad young too. It’s a quick read and I read it as a stand-alone. I think I’ll go check out the others in the series now

Series- Beck Sisters #3
Troupes- insta attraction, forced proximity, Cinnamon Roll hero
CW- parent with dementia ,death of a Parent
This book! Yall this book! I had no idea going in how much this book would mean to me. If you read Float Plan then you know that Trish does not shy away from the hard things, the emotional things that real live is made up of. And this book much like Float Plan does just that.
Carla has been running most of her life. So busy traveling and working hard to make the money for traveling that she hasn't had the time to think to hard about what she’s missing with her dad. It was him after all who taught her to live life this way. Now that she’s in Dublin for her Bestfriend's wedding and the best man is a super hunky Irish man just busting to go on an adventure and get out of his humdrum life Carla has time to think and fall in love and maybe just maybe find that person who’s wants to be by her side for the biggest adventure of all.
This book starts off SpIIicy and stays that way thought the very end. Carla and Eamon have instant chemistry and for a Demisexual who doesn’t understand such things it was hot and swoony.
This book depicts a very typical reality of what it’s like to have a loved one with Dementia and for me it was very emotional to read. As was the death of Biggie. So needless to say I cried buckets while reading the lost 20% of this book. And for that I say damn you but all thank you Trish Dollar. Your characters and writing is top notch and always hits me in the feels.
Thank you Trish Dollar, St Martins Press and Netgalley for this advanced copy all opinions are my own
I absolutely loved this book. It hooked me and kept me turning pages until I was done. Finished it in two days! The character development was strong, and the premise was unique enough that it didn't feel like anything else I've read.
Trish Doller is quickly becoming one of my favorite romance authors. She seamlessly blends everything I love about romantic comedies with realistic drama and emotion that tugs at your heartstrings, which is basically my kryptonite.
While Anna and Keane remain my favorite couple from this series, I still fell quite hard for Carla and Eamon. One of the reasons I love Doller's characters is that I find them so relatable. Carla and Eamon both feel stuck, even if neither of them knows it. Both are unable to bear doing what needs to be done, despite desperately needing to. I saw a younger me in Carla, traveling the world alone, never tied down to one place, enjoying what came her way, and not apologizing for it. I appreciate seeing female characters like this.
As I said above, I fell quite hard for Carla and Eamon, which was shocking since instalove/instalust rarely work for me. However, here, I felt like it fit both the characters and the story. It never felt forced, and it allowed them to connect on a deeper level quickly.
The non-romantic subplot was heartbreaking, like always.
So much worked for me: the setting, the steaminess, the banter, and the emotion. I cannot wait to read what Doller writes next.
While this is considered a standalone, I do think it may be beneficial to at least read Float Plan before this, which is awesome, so you should read it anyway. I will note that, compared to Float Plan and The Suite Spot, the steaminess is more prevalent in Off the Map. Further, this is not a slow burn like the first two. So, if that's what you liked about them, be prepared.
Thank you to NetGalley, MacMillan Audio, and St. Martin's Press for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
Ohhhhhhh man!
This book is amazing! I would read another ten Beck Sisters novels and it still wouldn’t be enough!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. When I was selected for this book I noticed that it was part three in a series and I’m not just one to start in the middle. Starting with Float Plan I KNEW I was going to love Trish Doller. She posts on her Goodreads that she wrote the love story she’d want to have and me too girl, me too.
If you have wanderlust, feel like adventure is just as much about letting go as finding yourself and the entire journey in between, READ THESE BOOKS.
I rarely write a just purely glowing review, in fact I’ve thrown my pro and con list out the door because I just can not freaking get enough!
Trish, if you read this….I would genuinely love a dual perspective novel from you, I think you could nail it, but honestly, I’ll read anything you come out with next. Thank you!
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Steam Level: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 (several moderately descriptive sex scenes)
Trigger Warning: parent with dementia, brief mentions of parental abandonment
When Carla Black's father is diagnosed with dementia and sends her away to avoid witnessing his decline, she decides to travel the world. Now she's making a pit stop in Ireland for her best friend's wedding, and the brother of the groom- Eamon Sullivan- is tasked with bringing her there safely. Eamon and Carla are instantly attracted to one another and spend an adventurous few days exploring Ireland before the wedding. But Carla knows this connection with Eamon has an expiration date, and she's also struggling with being away from her father as his health declines. As she struggles to decide what to do next with her life, she'll need to decide if she can let love in when she needs it the most.
This book definitely won me over. Insta-love can be tricky, but the chemistry and attraction between Eamon and Carla felt natural and believable to me. While I could have done with a few less sex scenes, the ones that were included were short and easy to skip over. And honestly, it did make sense for these two characters. I liked how Carla's adventures helped Eamon decide to do something different with his life. And I also loved the friendship between Carla and Anna. I can't wait to go back to book 1 and get Anna's story. The last 25% of this book was much more emotional, but I was okay with that shift and shed a few tears as I read the scenes with Carla's father. While it was definitely sad, there was also some healing and closure that Carla really needed. And the final chapter was really sweet and satisfying. I'm eager to read more from Trish Doller after this one and am looking forward to catching up on the other books in this series!
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Carla is traveling to Ireland for Anna and Keane’s wedding (from Float Plan). Keane’s brother Eamon, who is also his best man, is getting Carla and taking her to the wedding as she’s the Maid of Honor. On the way to the wedding location, they go on a detour and have their own adventure.
I love love loved Float Plan, The Suite Spot and now Off The Map are both average to me in comparison. They are both enjoyable books, and not full of fluff (less than 300 pages), but they didn’t get to me like Float Plan did. I enjoyed that this book had a good amount of Anna and Keane. I enjoyed the second half of the book far more than the first half. The first half feels a bit sloppy and rushed, the second half has more depth. If you want to follow the series it was an easy read.
Trigger warnings: dementia, loss of parent
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Griffin for this eArc. Off The Map comes out 3/7!
I loved the first two books in this series, but this one felt like something was missing. I feel like we didn’t get to know Carla at all, aside from the 2 page run down of her childhood. I can’t remember if I should remember more about her from Float Plan or not. BUT I felt like Carla and Eamon was way too insta-lovey. Not the one night stand part, but when after 6 days of being around each other, you’re already in love?! Also another factor: I kept feeling like I was missing something. Each time i turned the page I’d have to go back and make sure i didn’t skip pages. Now, the second half of the book is the style I’m expecting from this series. I didn’t feel particularly attached to any of these characters. It was like reading a rough draft without the filler added in. It was just…ok.
3.5/5⭐️
This was a fun and quick read! It was not my favorite of the three books in this series but I think that has to do with my preference in romance novel tropes. If you haven’t read the others in the series, I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary but many of the side characters in this one are main characters from the first book, Float Plan. As is a common theme in the series, this one deals with a heavy theme which I really like in a romance novel. I feel that it gives the story a depth that I am not used to in the genre.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an early copy in exchange for an honest review!
After being slightly disappointed with book 2 in the series, I was delighted to find that I loved this newest installment as much as The Float Plan. I loved the Irish setting, the camping adventures, the family dynamics of both main characters. I loved the development of the relationship between Carla and Eamon as well as the development of the relationships of Carla with her dad and stepmom. I thought the ending was a bit rushed (which when looking back at my review of book 2 I said the same thing). Definitely pick this one up if you are looking for a romance read to feed your wanderlust.
This was a quick read. A romance with some a-ha type life moments thrown in. Nothing too deep. A perfect, fluffy read.
I haven’t read the other books in the series and although there were parts that alluded to the prior books, I still understood what was going on.
I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
3.5 stars
This is part of a series but would work fine as a standalone. Carla Black is a traveller -- she came by it naturally from her dad Biggie. After her mother split when Carla was 5, it was just Biggie and Carla and he kept them moving. Carla has great travel and survival skills -- but she can't maintain a relationship since she never wants to stop in one place for long and is terrified of commitment.
She is in Ireland for her best friend's wedding. The groom's brother picks her up in Dublin and they have a strong and immediate spark. They end up taking a little journey before showing up at the wedding venue. There is the expected steamy chemistry but also a bit of soul searching. Eamon is in a job that confines him to an office and has been yearning to take off and do some exploring but just never took the leap. Carla is the perfect person to encourage him to set off.
They both have a lot of old history to overcome but we are never in doubt as to where this will end up. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
📖 ARC REVIEW 📖
Thank you @stmartinspress and @smpromance for an early copy of Off the Map by Trish Doller. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. 🤍
Off the Map is a romantic novel about Carla and Eamon. Carla is an adventurer, having traveled the world initially with her dad, then on her own in her vintage Jeep Wrangler. While she is all about making memories, she doesn’t linger too long in one place and doesn’t do long-term relationships. She meets Eamon, the best man for her best friend’s wedding in Ireland. Eamon is a cartographer who creates digital maps, and his work helps people find their way while he’s lost his sense of direction. He’s the ever-responsible one, staying put and earning a stable income. He’s unhappy and wants to explore. They drive across Ireland to the wedding, camping and meeting a Sangria-drinking bull, they shared chemistry and unexpected feelings along the way.

I loved Carla and Eamon’s instant connection and attraction, it felt so natural and their banter was cute. Their instant love was mostly driven by physical attraction and sex, though. Regardless of all the stories that Carla has told of her dad Biggie, and Eamon has told of his life, I wanted them to get to know each other a bit more if not only for Carla’s sudden realization to stop traveling and come home to Biggie before he completely forgets her (why not call him dad though? This bothered me quite a bit since he’s Carla’s legitimate father, not a stepfather or anything else). I liked how level-headed and composed she was when she had to let Eamon go do his own traveling and not pursue him further when she needed to come home, they have, after all, known each other for only a few days. I believe she was very logical not for him to drop everything and be with her.
With all that being said, I did love how the author described the sceneries mentioned in the book. Rating this ⭐⭐⭐/5. This is a very short novel (less than 300 pages!) which you’ll definitely enjoy. Releases March 7th, 2023!
Carla Black is living her life her way. She loves to travel, something that her father Biggie instilled in her. So now she spends her time traveling except when she is working at a bar in Fl to make money to travel. When she heads to Ireland to attend her best friends wedding she meets Eamon. As the two take a few detours on their way to the wedding and Carla sparks in him the desire to start living his dreams as well.
I like that the message of the story is to do what makes you happy and to live for yourself not someone else.
Trish Doller fans will be happy that we get to spend time with Anna, Carla's best friend, and Keenan, Eamon's brother.
This is a sweet story and was a quick read. The cover of the book is perfect for the story! I would love to see adventures with Carla and Eamon and Anna and Keenan together. They are both great couples.
Thank you St. Martin's Griffin for the advanced readers copy!
