I rarely say a book could’ve been longer, but I think this one could’ve benefitted from a couple more chapters as the ending felt a little rushed. However, I still loved it. It was a quick read and the exact swoony book I was looking for right now. I always love a strong female main character, and when you add in a lot of travel and exploring, and a beautiful Irish man, I’m hooked. The banter between the main characters was great, and helped balance out the very difficult topics and circumstances that were also included. Stella was a very loveable side character, and I wish we’d seen a bit more of her.

While part of a series, Off The Map can easily be read as a standalone. Carla, an American from Florida, is in Ireland for her best friend’s wedding. The best man and brother of the groom, Eamon, is going to drive her from Dublin to where the wedding is going to be held, on the other side of Ireland. Carla is an inveterate traveler - she basically lives to be “on the road” (She can do this because her job as a bartender in Florida comes to an end every year in the summer when most retirees disappear from Fort Lauderdale and business slows way down.)

Off The Map almost felt like two different books - the first part was a relatively light adventure and romance story, with impromptu trips to sites around Ireland before the wedding; the second part was a rather emotional section involving Carla’s father who has dementia.

I really enjoyed Carla’s and Eamon’s adventures, but this featured insta-attraction, which is not my favorite romance trope. In addition, it was also insta-in-bed, so readers who don’t care for very detailed “open door” situations might want to skim those parts (or skip them altogether). The incident pictured on the book cover was very funny. Over the course of the book, you discover Carla’s and Eamon’s backstories, shedding light on their situations/behaviors.

I bounced between the audiobook and the ebook for this title, which was very convenient. The audiobook was narrated beautifully by Sarah Naughton; she did a great job with the various accents. (Warning: due to the graphic sex scenes, I advise earphones if you’re listening to the audiobook!)

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to an advance copy of this audiobook and to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance reader copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I have loved the other two books by Trish Doller. This one is the third book in the series and each one is stand alone so you do not need to read the others. each book follows a different Beck sister. This one connects back with the first book Float Plan we are traveling to Ireland for Anna and Keane’s wedding. Carla is Anna’s best friend and she is to meet up with Keane’s brother Eamon. The chemistry is instantaneous as they meet. Carla is a free spirited wild adventurous character and Eamon wants to be just needs to let go of things holding him back. I loved the adventures these two main characters took in those days traveling to Tralee for the wedding on Saturday. This book is the spiciest and wildest of the three. I absolutely am in love with Carla and Eamon and want their adventure to continue. Many thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the digital review copy of this novel. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Insta-love lovers will enjoy Off the Map by Trish Doller. Carla Black is all about making memories while she is still able to. She’s a world traveler and avoids home as long as she can. In Ireland for her best friend’s wedding, she meets up with Eamon (the best man). He enjoys his job but has always wanted more in his life. Maybe Carla is the woman to change his life~ if they allow fate to play its game.

I had high hopes for Trish Doller’s latest novel, Off the Map, as I adored the other two novels that were loosely tied together. While I enjoyed the instant spice that occurred at the beginning, my interest in this novel quickly wore off around the half way mark. I was disappointed that Carla did not take initiative in seeing her father for a long period of time and referring to him as “Biggie” consistently throughout. While I felt for Eamon’s storyline, I would’ve enjoyed this book more if we got his point of view as well as Carla’s. The picturesque setting makes me want to visit Ireland however.

5 Stars

This might be my favorite of Trish Dollar's Beck Sister series!

Clara's life motto is "here for a good time and not for a long time" and it's one I can relate to. She has this motto in place as a wall or protection from forming too permanent attachment to anyone and any place she might visit. Her mother left her at a young age and her father, unsure of how to parent a young girl, decided to cope by taking Clara on trips around the US and world. She's lived her adult life traveling the globe and has no urge to set down roots. She hasn't been home in years because her father is deteriorating due to dementia and she has decided to respect his wish of living her life vs taking care of him as he slowly forgets her.

Cue, her trip to Ireland for her best friend's wedding. She meets Eamon, the best man, and they quickly form an intimate connection. It's a fling for both of them, or so they expect. But as thy start to spend more time together, traveling around Ireland on their way to the wedding, she learns to break down those walls of living a temporary life, while encouraging Eamon to loosen up and let a little more spontaneity into his life.

I really loved this couple and that the conflict focused more on HOW they could have a future together, not wether or not they even wanted one. There was lovely moments of healing for both Clara and Eamon as they navigated life after meeting each other. This story is truly one about how someone can come crashing into your life and their love can change you for the better.

I can't stop thinking about Eamon and Clara and loved that through their story, we got to reconnect with the previous Beck Sister couples!

I've now read all three of the books in Trish Doller's series. I loved Float Plan so much! The Suite Spot didn't really hit my personal sweet spot. But I'm so glad I continued on with the series and read her latest book, Off The Map.

Off The Map is a fast-paced, steamy, adventurous romance, set against the backdrop of an improvised Irish road trip. I was really rooting for the characters, and I totally believed in their motivations. The writing was very descriptive and engaging. I could vividly picture the beautiful scenery and the various scenarios the characters found themselves in. The ending was satisfying and had a lot of depth. I think this book will be a hit for romance readers!

“Off the Map” was so much more than girl meets boy, falls in love, happily ever after. It contains complex layered characters in complex situations.

Pros:
- Getting from point A to point B wasn’t predictable, literally and figuratively.
- Eamon’s family
- A furry friend
- A healthy relationship, even if complicated
- Travel!

Cons:
- Some of the plot lines seemed rushed. Particularly when it came to situations with both of Carla’s parents.
- the way Carla spoke to Eamon’s mother. I’ve seen this in a lot of romantic fiction, and while I understand it’s out of love, disrespecting someone you don’t know doesn’t end with respect on either end in the real world.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. I live to travel, but I don’t take the rough path. It was great to read that perspective.

A short and sweet read about insta-lust that eventually becomes ✨love✨.

Carla heads to Ireland for her best friend’s wedding. Eamon, the groom’s brother and best man, agrees to pick Carla up from the airport, but their plans change and they end up meeting up at a bar.

There’s annoying bits (ie., the exaggerated use of “Jaysus” lol) and it would’ve been nice to have a glimpse into Eamon’s thoughts, but overall, a cute read that I’d recommend.

Off the Map is a wonderful depiction of finding love when you least expect it. Carla has always been an adventurer, thanks to her father, by whom she was raised to be a wandering spirit. She's travelled the world but never let herself fall in love. There is always a chance she would end up like her father with Alzheimer's, and she does not want to put anyone through that heartbreak. It is in Ireland where her best friend Anna is getting married where her view on love and life will all change.

This is a very sweet and spicy, at times, romance. I fell in love with the Irish heart throb and cried at all the sad parts. Trish Doller has given readers a well written romance that could actually happen in real life, and I'm here for more from this author!

I did not finish this one unfortunately. I loved Trish’s first two books but starting this immediately with a non-consensual kiss between two strangers that immediately develops into love isn’t something I’m here for. The kiss wasn’t even addressed and it made me very uncomfortable

I'm a huge fan of Trish Doller's work. Ever since I read Float Plan. Her latest release, Off the Map is a satisfying, engaging read with a poignant subplot. Carla's relationship with her dad is beautiful and rich, yet heartbreaking because like many in real life she has to grapple with the fact that his health is deteriorating quickly.
The love story between Carla and Eamon is both passionate and humorous. Their dialogue, grand adventures, and the pace at which the relationship develops all make for an enjoyable page-turner. I had a hard time putting this one down. Just like in her previous novels, the author combines humor, adventure travel, and complicated family dynamics to help us examine bigger life issues. What does it mean to be loved? How do we risk our hearts knowing that we might experience pain? How do we grieve the ones we've lost? Off the Map is another excellent book by Trish Doller. Highly recommend!

Sensitive reader alert: this is a spicy one! If you do not care for open-door intimacy on the page, proceed with caution.

When I requested this book I actually had no clue it was book three in a series and it turns out I’d read and enjoyed Float Plan (book one) a couple of years ago!

Similar to how I felt about Float Plan, Off the Map is almost a bitter sweet read. It is a raw and real emotional journey filled with adventure and romance, but also some hard truths and painful moments of life. There’s little that’s as painful as being abandoned by a parent at a young age, or having your parent (or a loved one) slowly wither away with illness. Trish captures these emotions and the story of Carla Black perfectly and it was a quick read that drew me in right from the get-go. It was also a lot of fun to see the beloved characters Anna and Keane from book one getting married.

If you are looking for a romance that packs a punch, is whimsical while feeling realistic, and a romance that will leave you with a ton of wanderlust - this is definitely the book for you!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Trish Doller, and St Martin’s Griffin for the ARC to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and shared freely.

Just look at that cover!! Wonderful! This is such a feel-good-novella that inspires you to dream big and live your life to the fullest. The characters are well-developed, especially, Carla Black who had a rough start into life at young age. Now, in her mid-thirties, Carla has found her purpose which is wandering adventurously through places and sights. Traveling becomes her main goal! Right so!! The story gets a nice twist, when Eamon shows up. Love is in the air! Easy-to-consume, but mind-sticking novella that earns solid 4 stars! Recommended!

The book that got me out of my reading slump. Off the Map is a beautifully written book. This may be the third book in the series but I think it's the best one yet.

I laughed, I cried, I could not put it down. Trish Doller wrote such whole, beautifully messy characters in Carla, Eamon and Biggie I couldn't help but fall in love with them. I've never been a fan of a quick romance, always feeling like it never felt believable but when Cara said I love you, I was surprised it took her so long. Eamon and Carla's chemistry poured off the page and I LOVE that there is never a second act break up in Doller's books, just people realizing their human and having to figure out life. Carla's relationship with her father and the struggles they both went through are so beautifully written and even in the midst of dementia, they find closure and understanding. Although it seemed obvious we would lose Biggie, his death still came as a shock and brought tears to my eyes, anyone who has seen a family member struggle with dementia can relate to Carla and Stella. Speaking of Stella, she is a fire cracker and a wonderful addition to the story. She and Biggie were the definition of opposites attract but even in their small aspects of the book, you could feel their love. Eamon makes me want to quit my job and run off to Ireland for my own awakening.

As an added bonus it was great to see Anna and Keane's happy ending but even more wonderful to see Rachel and Mason continuing to grow together. Off the Map was a beautiful addition to their stories and I'm so glad Carla became a main character.

Honestly, this was my first five star read of the year. Simply perfect!

I have been following Trish Dollar since the begining of her book journey and I have simply enjoyed every moment. She has such a beautiful way of melding trauma, grief, and love.

Carla's story was just utterly captivating. I fell in love with her and Eamon quicker than they fell in love with each other. There was instalust, instasex, and insta...(I'm hooked on this book). I consumed this in both ebook and audio format. I received both formats as advanced copies in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is exactly the type of story I expect from this author. It was heart wrenching but also heart warming. It was sweet yet sexy. It was the perfect motivation to go on a vacation, which is really an added bonus when I’m reading a book. It was able to hit on all of the same reasons why I felt like the first book in the series was also really powerful; it balanced loss and love in a really delicate way but it payed off for me as the reader.

I loved the setting of Ireland, I loved watching the characters I already knew become more fleshed out. I loved Eamon saying “Jaysus” and being completely in love with Carla from the moment they kissed at the bar. I loved watching Carla realize what her priorities in life are and trying to adjust her life around that. I loved Carla and Eamon together and think they had a good foundation for a relationship that was built on trust and a bit of lust (which is a win win). I loved Carla and Biggie and seeing how parent and child bonds are important and that connection will never truly go away.

This is the first book I've read by this author, so I obviously missed the other two in the series. I really enjoyed this one, though and don't feel like it made any difference in this book. I loved the feel of the story from the very beginning.

Eamon is supposed to pick up Carla at a bar when she reaches Dublin for her best friend's wedding. The two hit it off and Carla, who is an extensive traveler kind of rubs off on Eamon and they take several side trips before actually heading for the wedding. The two have an instant attraction, but also an instant comradery for each other. They just really have a blast together, but really get to know each other well, too. Eamon has always done what his mother has expected him to do, whereas Carla has traveled extensively from an early age with her father. Now her father has sent her off on her own so that she doesn't witness his increasing symptoms of dementia.

Eamon and Carla both learn some valuable lessons about their feelings about themselves along the way. The question is will they go their separate ways after the wedding or will they let their feelings for each other bring them together for good?

Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.

Off The Map made me want to drop everything and explore the world with the people I love. It's a fast, enjoyable, sweet and steamy read!

The story follows Carla Black, who goes to Dublin for her best friend's wedding. She gets picked up at the airport by the best man, Eamon Sullivan, and the should-have-been simple drive across Ireland becomes a detour-filled adventure about finding love where you least expect it.

I really believe that detours along the way to a destination is what makes life more interesting. The book is truly about chasing happiness and makes you wonder about all the things you want to do or have been putting off. Why start tomorrow when you can start today?

It's a very sweet story and perfect if you're looking for something quick to read. I was definitely laughing throughout the book, teared up a bit towards the end, and was surprised with the amount of SPICE!!! Overall, such a fun read!

Off the Map comes out March 7, 2023! Happy reading!

I have really enjoyed all 3 books in this series. This one was short and sweet. I loved all the adventures they went on in Ireland and the ones that Carla reminisced about with Eamon and her father. I’m not always a fan of instalove but this one was very sweet.

Some books just make you feel a certain way, and Off the Map had me yearning for my own road-trip. It made me feel the same way the movie of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty did as Walter traveled across Greenland—you can almost hear a soundtrack in the background while reading this book. No other author makes me want to travel like Trish Doller (Float Plan had me itching to get aboard a boat and head for the Caribbean), and I always know that when I read one of her books I am in for an adventure.
I didn’t think I could love a couple as much as Anna and Keane, but Carla and Eamon sure gave them a run for their money. As opposite a relationship could be from the first Beck Sisters book, this attraction hits heavy, hard, and fast. Unlike the previous two novels, Off the Map begins with a bang and doesn’t let up; Carla and Eamon are already acting on their sexual chemistry by the start of chapter 2. The set up of the story (the maid of honor and best man driving across Ireland to attend a wedding in a matter of days) allows Carla and Eamon to be so open with each other and act on their every whim as they only have this road trip together before they each go their own way.
Carla has always lived her life in the moment (according to the rules of Biggie Black, her father). She has taken every advantage to travel and see the world for the past 10 years, settling in Florida only long enough to save enough cash bartending at a pirate bar; insert hilarious costume and pirate jokes here. Eamon has shouldered the responsibilities of being an elder brother and quite opposite from Carla, has been afraid to truly step out and do the traveling he desires. Eamon is drawn to Carla because of her free spirited nature and her fearlessness with taking risks. I was immediately taken with Eamon’s easy going, ridiculously handsome Irish charm and could picture him perfectly in my head. Eamon Sullivan is a hero that wants to say “yes” to adventure and “yes” to opportunity, and Carla gives him that possibility by not putting any assumptions or restraints on him. From their first encounter in the pub, everything is a possibility and Eamon delights in showing Carla how grateful he is for that (and boy does he show her! 😉🥵).
It is so easy to like Eamon and I laughed so much at his playful nature and little jokes he had with Carla. This book is so funny and quick-witted! I can say that I actually had fun reading it. Yet against the fun and flirty banter lies a deeper story. Traveling is an escape from real world problems and Carla has been running from Biggie, unable to watch him succumb to the misery of dementia. As soon as he received his diagnosis, she left and has only talked to him via FaceTime. Eamon also has his own demons, one of them acting as the “responsible” child, and he has out off his own dreams because of his fears. The love story for Carla and Eamon works so well because they see what each other offers beyond having a good time and they want to make one another better. So not only did I laugh, but I audibly gasped and teared up over this story. Off the Map grabbed my heart and gave so much satisfaction to the end of this trilogy. Appearances from Anna, Keane, Mason, and Rachel were perfect and I found myself loving a new character, Stella, Biggie’s long time girlfriend. Trish Doller can write a love story and I will read anything she writes! Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for my ARC in exchange for an honest review. I received both an e-copy and won an IG giveaway for a paper copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
